P45 Platinum and OCZ PC2-9200 Problem

My problem is that i dont really know if those DDR2 memorys (OCZ PC2-9200 1150Mhz / 2x1Gb) can be used on p45Platinum motherboard.
The thing is i already bougth them....
I tried to make them work but i culdnt, my best gues is (as long as the mother supports them) to flash the bios becouse i noticed that a lot of them have a improved memory compatibility.
http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1479
shuld i give it a tray?
plz excuse my lame english....

I tryed them, it took a while for the pc to go functionaly on windows and when it did, i had a some lame latencys....
After rebooting, the pc wont start... i had leds indicating "broken memory or not properly installed". y used the jumper of the motherboard and the old memory.
What do i have to do to unlock the voltage item in the Cell menu? i still have it in dark-grey...

  • MSI P45 Platinum and Neo2-FR

    Hello everyone!
I have small question will P45 Platinum and P45 Neo2-FR work fine with those memories OCZ DDR2 PC8500 4096MB KIT, Reaper HPC, 2x2048MB, Heatpipe, (CL5-5-5-18) ?

Quote from: Jack the Newbie on 04-October-08, 18:05:31
A few facts about the P45 Chipset and those memory modules:
    1) According to Intel Specifications, the Intel P45 Chipset natively supports DDR2-667 and DDR2-800 modules, that is it.
    2) Those OCZ Modules are essentially DDR2-800 modules (use DDR2-800 chips).  DDR2-1066 is an overclocking rating that will force you to overvolt these sticks above DDR2 standard voltage.
    3) EPP profiles are pre-programmed OC profiles that are not fully supported on Intel Chipsets but are for NVidia Chipsets only.
    The bottom line is:
-> To run those modules @standard DDR2-800 speed should be no problem (neither on the P45 Platinum nor on the P45 Neo2-FR.
-> Trying to get the system stable @DDR2-1066 speed may or may not work stable, as this means overclocking both the memory controller AND the modules. So, get ready to some tweaking of memory related BIOS settings (inlcuding memory voltage, MCH Voltage, DDR reference voltages and timings) to find stable settings for non-standard clock speeds.
So I shouldn't have any problems to start computer after I connect everything? And what IF I will be unlucky and those memories won't work ?

  • MSI P45 Platinum and Scythe Ninja 2

    Hi all,
I'm a rookie here and sorry if this question has already been asked but search didn't give solution. I'm planning to buy an MSI P45 Platinum and found Circu-Pipe 2 interesting. They said it leaves enough space for "giant CPU heatsinks". Scythe's Ninja 2 seems to be a giant one... Cause I will purchase them via net, I cannot try them manually in a shop. Does anyone (or friend...) have the same or similar Circu-Pipe-d mainboard with a Ninja 2? Will them work together?
    Thanks in advance!
    Cheers!

  • P45 platinium and OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 problems w/ 4 x 1 gig but not 2 x 1

I have an MSI P45 Platinum with 2 gigs (2 x 1 gig) running at 5-5-5-15, 1:1.2 1066/800 voltage on auto and it's passing Memtest86 tonight. I will keep iot running all night. This system was stable till I tried adding 2 more gigs for a toal of 4 x 1 gig. It will not POSt with all chips installed. I tried everything and MSI is not a big help. OCZ told me to do 6-6-6-18 at 2.1 - 2.2v and run it at 800 and maybe raise the NB voltage up to 1.4v. None of that worked.
The system just will not POSt with 4 chips installed. I am memtesting the new RAM chips all night.
This really pisses me off. What happend to the days when you just stick the memory in and all auto settings were fine. I am not an over clocker, I just want my PC to work!
    HELP!
    CPU is a Q9550

    kourosh,
    It did not work.
Anyway OCZ told me (via online support portal) that since the memory kits don't work together, I should contact the seller (NewEgg) and try to exchange for matching memory. I repeated my my statement in fact that they do work when mixed... just not all 4 gigs. They replied with the same comment, albeit more detailed. I repeated the fact and asked them to make it clear that they can do nothing more for me. They tod me again that since the memory kits don't work together and they past my Memtests, they are not defective so they can't grant an RMA. I repeated the fact (AGAIN) that they do work together. I am waiting for another reply. I think I am done with this company's memory for future purchases. I just want them to be straight and they can't even do that. I'd have more respect for them and prbably make future purchases if they were just straight forward. After all, Business is Business.

  • P975x Platinum Power Up edition and OCZ DDRII 800 problem

i recently upgraded my mobo from a P965Neo to a p975pue but it seems that this configuration wont work. According to D-Bracket it hangs at "Memory Detection Test" - (second LED green ). Ive tried with another set of DDRII-533 and everything works fine. Any clues ?
Id like to mention that memory was tested on other system too and its ok.

    Hi Remark,
There seems to be others having trouble with your mem and this board. You may need to set bios settings with the 533mhz mem in, then shut down install the OCZ and boot then. Have a read of this post may point you in the right direction

    Hello friends,
i have some questions about this memory configuration on mobo P45 Platinum:

    4x2GB A-Data Vitesta 1066+
    P45 Platinum
    Asus EAH4670

I have problem with start up of my comp when i use all 4 sticks at 1066MHz. When i use 2 sticks only i don't have any problems at [email protected]
When i try to start pc with 4 sticks at 5-5-5-15@[email protected] nothing, my pc won't start.
I have NO problem when i start it with 4 sticks and 5-5-5-15@[email protected], everything is fine.
Maybe i need give a little more voltage to MCH, but i'm not sure.
Have anyone tried 8GBs on P45 Platinum with more than 800MHz.
    Thanks in advance!

    For two reasons:
    1) you don't have real DDR2-1066 (the modules you have are overclocked & overvolted DDR2-800)
    2) with 4 memory modules, any DDR2/DDR3 controller (northbridge) gets into speed limitation.
In conclusion: 8GB (4x2GB DDR2-800 5-5-5-15 at 1.8V) is the best choice (presuming you don't have any stability issue).

Some of this setings are not in bios. What bios should i use ?  or what can i do to have acces to manualy configure this ???

    Hello,
note that the P35 Chipset natively supports only DDR2-667 and DDR2-800 memory modules.  From the point of view of the memory controller, DDR2-1066 is already overclocking.

One reason for inventing DDR3-RAM was to be able to reach higher frequencies.  So you may have reached the limits here.

  • MSI P45 Platinum and RAID 0!

System specs below! First of all this system is basically a gaming rig. I am running Vista 64 on one single Western digital hard drive, and using an identical drive for storage. I was thinking about setting up a RAID 0 array with these two drives. Can this be easily done with this mobo? I am just wondering if there are any quirks associated with the MSI P45 Platinum mobo that would make this a pain to set up. Anyone else running a RAID 0 with this mobo and having good results? Would it even be worth it?
I was told my several different people in the gaming community, that RAID 0 really speeds up map loading, which would be great. I would be backing up the array to another internal drive using True Image.
    Any advice would be great!!

    Quote from: Jack t.N. on 20-May-09, 03:16:19
Only, if you set the controller to AHCI Mode (which would not really be a problem either).  You probably won't need any additional drivers when the controller is working in IDE Mode.
If you have to install drivers, use the latest ones from the JMicron FTP Download Server:
    ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb36x/Win2k_xp_Vista/
Ok, well I won't have my new storage drive until Thursday. I will run HD tune on the drive connected to both different controllers and see what is the fastest.
I know we talked about this just a little. Still wondering about the RAID drives, or any drives attached to the ICH10R's SATA connections when it is set to RAID in the bios. The drives, including my SATA CD/RW drive does not show under "Standard CMOS features". Just #7 and #8 of the JMicron's show since they are still set to IDE in the bios.
    You commented with:
"They are now Controlled by the ICH10R Firmware.  Look here":
--> Integrated Peripherals --> On-Chip ATA Devices --> AHCI Devices Group
    --> Integrated Peripherals --> On-Chip ATA Devices -->
Those locations are just where you set the RAID mode. There's no actual drives listed there. I do see a screen popup when booting my system with the two RAID drives saying "ok" and bootable. Plus I see them in the Matrix storage console. Is this normal then?  There really is no place when you search through the bios that you can see them listed??  I can hit the Ctrl and I keys and go into the actual RAID bios, but I don't see my RAID drives listed in the actual bios.
Am I explaining this right??  Just wanting to make sure everything is working right.  It sure seems to work well with bench marks. Here's a shot of my array with HD tune.  I'm thinking that burst rate can't be right.

  • P45 Platinum + Kingston HyperX KHX8500D2K2/2G Problem

    Hi!
I bought a P45 Platinum + Kingston HyperX KHX8500D2K2/2G Memory Kit + CPU Intel E8400 Duo Core. I can't get my system running at 1066Mhz. I upgraded bios to version 1.2 but it still doesn't work. I set many configs but windows xp does not boot or the machine keeps rebooting.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

I have the same set of memory modules.  The proper settings for DDR2-1066 clock speed vary between BIOS Version [after all DDR2-1066 for these modules is a double overclock: memory controller beyond specs and memory chips beyond specs]. I never had problems to get both of these sticks  to POST in Dual Channel mode on this board.  DDR2-1066 can be tricky with some BIOS Versions but DDR2-800 has to be possible at all times with all Versions (at least, that never was a problem in my case).
The Bottom line is:  If you can't get your system to get through POST @DDR2-800 MHz with both modules in dual channel configuration, one of the follwing explanation to come to mind:
    - short circuit within the case affecting one of the memory slots [test the board outside the case on a non-conducting surface]
    - defective memory slot [if you have tested in Slot 1 & 3, try Slot 2 & 4 and see if anything changes]
    - faulty modules [maybe one of them [did all 10 memtest tests pass on each module without errors?]
    - faulty mainboard

Hello! Can you help me with this?
    bios v1.6
    Intel e5300 - 2,6ghz
    Msi p45 platinum
    2gb trancend ddr2 667
What function to enable, what to disable. Also, have I hardware overclock fsb jumpers (now sets to 200Mhz)-JB1 and JB2. And how to decrease cpu ratio if I have to( now is 200x13=2600Mhz). Also what dram ratio etc...
I'll be greatefull if somebodu help me,I just wanna overclock processor to 3gHz for every day,not 24/7, maybe 12/7...THANX and sorry for my bad English

hello! I try that, remove both the oc jumper, and I CAN'T EVEN RUN THE BIOS    So after couple restarts, i shut down pc and se jumpers to 200-266 mode. Disable what you said, set fsb 260 x multiplier 11,5 and get 3ghz. Some programs seys core 1 and 2 speed 3371mhz? I set cpu voltage to 1.32, little increase the ather voltages... With max load max temperature with core temp is 63c after couple hours. Should I do something to increase more speed or is better to leave it like this? Or try set jumpers to mode 266-333 and decrease cpu multiplier wuth more fsb?

  • K9a platinum and ocz memory cas 4-5-4-15

    Hi ,
I need help and i need it fast
I have k9a platinum and i want to buy this memory:
    OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800, 4-5-4-15,
Is it compatible with my mobo and do u have opinion about this ram?
    Thanx

Well my OCZ RAM which is meant to run @ 800MHz 4-4-4-15 timings. Runs very fine @ 800MHz w/ 4-4-4-10. 4-4-4-10 works up until about 870MHz.
OCZ seem to state their timings lower then the RAM sticks can actually cope for some reason.
I'm pretty sure it'll work, but contact OCZ for a correct answer.
Also like Bas said: Sig should be updated

Hi all,is Zalman cnps9700nt compatible with MSI P45 Platinum??thanks for the replies

Depending on your case configuration, you can mount it to exhaust to the rear of the case or the top. The other thing I like, is it is a four pin CPU fan connection rather than just a three pin.

  • MSI P7N SLI Platinum and OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 SLI-Ready Edition

    Hello,
I have a MSI P7N SLI Platinum nForce 750i SLI motherboard and I would like to inquire if it is fully compatible with OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 SLI-Ready Edition memory? Firstly, I do not seem to get the correct timings with the default settings, speed is not very good, after 5 hours of running Memtest86+ there was 30 errors. I have never had the memory crash and games seem to run fine, but the memory feels much slower than it should be. Is the memory supposed to work fine with this motherboard and I'm just imagining everything? I don't know if I'm also supposed to be worried by the errors Memtest86+ returned?
Thank you in advance for any help.

Quote from: Del UK on 07-September-08, 05:44:14
    If memtest returned errors, yes
Well, there does not have to be a problem with the memory just because it returned errors. There could be many other explanations why there are errors.

Jacobl, please post full system specs.  Read the >>Posting Guide<< to get an idea of the details you should provide.
How many modules of what capacity do you have?  What are your current RAM-related BIOS settings?
If you have more than one stick of RAM, please test each stick seperately with memtest86+ and see if the errors are caused by one of the sticks only.  Otherwise there is no way to tell if there is a compatibility problem or just a faulty memory stick.
Please post a link to the OCZ product site and also a screenshot of the CPU-Z "SPD" tab.
    I have this memory: http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr2_pc2_6400_sli_ready_edition_4gb_dual_channel.
This is the rest of the components as instructed by the forum post you linked to:
    Intel E8200
    MSI P7N SLI Platinum
    OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 SLI-Ready Edition 4GB Dual Channel
    Gigabyte Geforce 8800GT 512MB PCI
    500GB Western Digital SATA
    SATA DVD burner
    Windows XP SP3
    Antec 500W PSU
I usually troubleshoot components step by step - eliminating all possible reasons until I have found the solution. My first step was to post here to find out if there are any known compatibility issues with the motherboard and memory. I adjusted the memory timings with a slight overclock because the motherboard did not load the default timings by default. I will start by adjusting the BIOS settings, check if the memory is inserted into the right DIMM slots and then test the memory sticks one by one. But to answer my own question: I think the motherboard and memory should have no compatibility issues and it must be something else.
Quote from: Freestate on 07-September-08, 23:06:36
I have the OCZ 6400 Fatal1ty modules 2x2 GB that is very similar of the ones you ask.And they are running perfectly but i must set the epp latency and voltaje values in BIOS! The simple modules of ocz are in the memory compatibilty list i thought that the SLI and Falal1ty modules are just the same with a little boost.
I had to set the right timings also. As far as I know, the SLI and Fatal1ty modules are probably the same, just with a little boost. I think it would be very strange if a module with the name "SLI-Ready Edition" and a Nforce 750i motherboard would not be compatible together.
Anyway, any other advice on what steps I should take? I assume by now that the motherboard and memory should work together without problem. Sorry if I started out bad by not following the posting guidelines on the forum.

  • P35 Platinum and MSI 8600 GT problem

I have a problem with the computer locking up. It will do it on certain web sites, clicking around in Media player and other programs. I tried everything I could think of. Finally I Got an 8400 video card locally and everything is fine. My question is, since the 8600 GT gets all of it's power from the PCIE slot could it be a voltage problem? If so, I see no way of increasing the PCIE voltage in the bios for this MB.
Any ideas before I send this card back?

Since I put in a temporary 8400GTS I have the processor overclocked to 3.3gig and everything is fine. Could the 8400 need less power than the 8600GT and if so is there a way to increase the voltage on the 16X PCIE slot? This is a MSI MB and MSI Video card so I would expect them to work together.
