P45D3 Platinum And G.Skill 4GB Dual Kit DDR3-1333 F3-10666C FREEZE!? HELP!

Hi there!
First sorry bout my bad english!
I bought yesterday the new p45d3 platinum mainboard and g.skill 4GB Dual Kit DDR3-1333 F3-10666C memory and i have this same problem that seems to be popular. The Bios works fine, but when installing xp sp3 from cd it always freezes in 6%. Every single time. Have tried to clear cmos and run the system with minimum hw in it but every time same problem.
Just when i changed from Abit to MSI i counter this same prob than with abit while ago.
If someone could be so gentle and help me out with this, thank you so much!
yours
Antti

First of all, what is your current BIOS-Version.  It should be displayed on the POST screen:

Remove one of the two modules, clear CMOS with main A/C power cable removed from PSU, load "Optimized Defaults" in BIOS and set the following BIOS Option:
- Spread Spectrum = Disabled
- FSB/DRAM Rato -> 1:1.6 [=DDR3-1066]
- Memory Voltage/DRAM-Voltage = ~1.57V
Then try again to install XP.

  • MSI Neo Platinum and G.skill Ram

Was just wondering if anybody had this combination (MSI K8N Neo Platinum and G.skill Ram). I have the MSI Neo Platinum. I ordered the processor yesterday (3400 1Mb socket 754) and now I need some ram. I ran across this ram and saw that it had good timings. If anyone has this or has tried it please lemme know how it worked for you and what size sticks you got. Thanks
                                                               Karl

looked at the links you provided
specs seem ok nice range of speeds and can run at a nice low latency at pc3200 i.e 400mhz.
should also enable a nice o`clock at pc 4400 specs ie 3.4.4.8 ie higher fsb etc.
    than pc 3200 ram
you should be able to run it at fairly low latencies and fairly high fsb sort of half way between the 2.
might well be worth a try you might have found something good there. but then again you wont know till you try it..
contact the reseller and see if you can rma it if it wont run
then you got some comeback if it aint compatable..
    keep us informed

  • P45D3 Platinum and Intel VT

    Hi,
I run a P45D3 Platinum board with a Q8200 CPU and 8Gb of RAM. I am running the latest bios for my card as of this writing: AMI v1.6 and cannot find a way to enable the Intel VT feature. This is preventing me from running 64 bit kernels in guest Virtual Machines on Windows Vista 64 host with VMWare server 2.0.1.
I also tried the UEFI BIOS with little success as my OCZ RAM does not bode well with UEFI BIOS version 1.2
    Any pointer appreciated,
    Eric

    Hi,
actually, Virtualization Technology should be automatically enabled by default if it is supported by the processor.  And here comes the crucial point:

According to the Intel Product Site, this processor does not support VT (neither of its versions does):

  • P45D3 Platinum - System staggers with drive access

    Hello all,
    here is my config:
    P45D3 platinum board
    Intel 3.0G dual core
    4GB 1333 DDR3 memory
Asus video with ATI 4870x2 chipset
    3 HDD in RAID 5
    1 DVD-RW on Sata
    1 DVD-RW on IDE
    Vista 64 Ultimate
The system is recently built and using the included raid driver.  I also have the MSI utilities installed.
Upon load of OS, after logon, and anytime I do a drive refresh (such as starting My Computer), I see the system stagger in about 1 second increments for 7-10 times.  The system runs great otherwise.  The staggering stops the entire system for those brief instances.  If it weren't for the slow booting due to the staggers I might just ignore it.  Please chime in on your ideas as I'm out of them.

What is the model of your RAM? Can you also list the PSU specs amps as well?

  • MSI P45-C51 (Problems With 4GB DDR3 1333)

    Hello,
I have a problem with my motherboard P45-C51.
According to test reports, this motherboard supports 4GB DDR3 modules (1333).
    msi.com/file/test_report/TR10_1836.pdf
    Data specifically are:
    Model: Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G
    Size: 4GB
    2 DIMMs: V
    4 DIMMs: V
    R.S.T: OK
In the absence of stock the store, I bought a similar one:
    Fury HiperX DDR 3 1333 (HX313C9F/4)
however, the motherboard does not recognize the memory (when I turn on the computer, 3 beeps sound and restarts, return to ring 3 times and then restarts and so on)
With 2 GB DDR3 1333 DIMM working properly.
    I have last Bios v5.7
I found an online store the specified memory for my motherboard (Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G) but want to be 100% sure it worked properly before buying.
    Thnks.

    hi,
With Fury HiperX DDR 3 1333 (HX313C9F / 4) i deleted the CMOS but I did not recognize. After much searching, I concluded that the problem could come from the distribution of the chips.
    The Kingston (Fury HiperX DDR3 - 1333 - HX313C9F/4) memory have 512Mbx8 Chips (single-sided)
The G.Skill Ripjaws (F3-10666CL7D-8GBRH) memory have 256Mbx16 Chips (in two sided)
With G.Skill The mbo detect the memory and boot normally. No necesary delete CMOS.
The only problem is latency, latency detects and configures it is nine. However, changing the latency in the BIOS manually to seven working properly.
    Thnks.

  • P45D3 Platinum Motherboard Ram Settings and detection

Well i have this motherboard and 1333 MhZ DDR-3 RAM (2*1GB dual channel kit by MDT).
The OC jumpers are at default which means 200 MHz FSB.
I have all on AUTO detection in the bios wherever possible.
    The manual says Memory Support:
    4 DDR3 DIMMS 1333/1066/800 MHz and up.
The problem i got is that my memory is only detected as 1066 MHZ and there is no way to get a higher setting with the standard settings you can choose, 1:2 being the highest.
What do i have to do to run my memory at 1333 MHz?
    Bios is version 1,4

Is the technical support aware of the problems?

I just have 2 other OCZ RAM [OCZ3P13332GK] and freezes become -hardcore- with it. -> it's worst
Well, those modules are known trouble makers.  "DDR3-1333" is an overclocked rating to begin with (they are actually just DDR3-1066 sticks) and they require 1.8V (0.3V above DDR3 industry standard).  Search for "OCZ3P13332GK" in the OCZ Forum.  You will find 133 threads, most of them about stability problems on all kinds of different systems.
    Quote
It's the timings I usually use
I did not say anything about timings, but about frequency and voltage settings.
    Quote
beside it's DDR3-16000 with XMP profile, factory tested
XMP Profiles are overclocking profiles.  Where those modules "factory tested" on your particular mainboard?  Where does OCZ mention what systems/chipsets where used during the test procedures to see if the memory overclock results in a stable system in all possible system configurations?  That is why I stay away from OCZ.  Too many compatibility problems because of non-standard operating parameters.
According to Intel Specifications, the Intel P45 Chipset is only specified for DDR3-800 and DDR3-1066 operation. That is it.
    Quote
I'm a bit disappointed (2 years having problems).
Well, the question is where the problems originate.  If the problem related to the brand of memory modules or the board needs to be found out by testing.  I told you that two years ago:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=1aa3592c1969cc6b801df9255eb8aba2&topic=119076.msg898953#msg898953

Zoidberg_fr, can you test a different set of DDR3-RAM (preferably not factory-overclocked and non-OCZ)?
... and the suggestion is still the same now.
If there is a problem with the board (and it could have been a problem with the board two years ago), RMA would have been the right thing to do.  Now it is almost a little late for that.

  • Dual Core Center- MSI P6N SLI Platinum and MSI 8800 GTS 640

I have both the MSI 650i MOBO and the MSI 8800 GTS vidcard. When using an Asus P5B Dlx MOBO and this vidcard, Dual Core Center was installed and displayed the information for the videocard and allowed a mild OC. Now with both MSI products in the case, Dual Core Center only displays the information on the MOBO-- no 8800 GTS information. The tab at the top for the VGA does not bring up anything.  ??? I have tried installing the version on each one of the disks that came with each piece of equipment again and it doesn't seem to make a difference, it doesn't work. I downloaded the most recent version of the utility from the MSI site and still get only the MOBO information. How do I get the display for the video card.
Or since the MSI utilities typically are listed on the forums as not being the greatest, what else can I/should I be using instead?
    {I'll put this in the graphics forum too as it hits both areas...}

Running a P6N SLI Platinum and a MSI 7900GTO with Dualcorecenter 2004 and everything is ok.
Never installed any driver from the MSI CD which comes with the board or graphics card. All drivers are downloaded
    from Nvidia.
Maybe the 8800 series is not supported yet.

  • PC won't boot after memory upgrade (on MSI P45D3 Platinum)

I am having a problem on my MSI P45D3 Platinum motherboard system (Dual OS: Win XP and Win 7)
Until recently I was running it on PATRIOT 2GB (2x1GB) 1600MHz DDR3 PDC32G1600LLK memory (CL7) and all was fine, though running only at 1066MHz, since I couldn't tweak the settings (latencies/voltage) in order for it to run at 1600MHz.
I wanted to add RAM but since I couldn't find the same type anywhere in my town, I decided to go for PATRIOT 4GB (2x2GB) 1600MHz DDR3 PSD34G1600KH Signature Line (CL9). However, the system never booted again (blank screen, no signal sent to monitor) after adding the two new sticks of RAM! The new RAM is working fine when I remove the old and vice versa, so I know it is not a case of defective sticks.
I must mention that I cannot fiddle with the RAM timings because I cannot even reach BIOS!
Any help will be most welcome!

Mixing different memory modules is always a gamble and likely to cause such problems.  Identical modules should be used for best results.
In many cases, you can set what you want regarding memory configuration, getting the RAM mixture to work stable will simply be impossible, even though there is no defect.

    Hi FlyveKristoffel,
Had same problems with my P45D3 Platinum, including no- or bad initialisation of my videocard. Checked at the website of producer of my memorymodules for the optimal settings and found that the units were in fact overclocked and needed voltage setting of 1.8V instead of 1.5 and so on.
Changed settings in the BIOS accordingly and even redused memoryclock to 1033MHz.
Updated the BIOS to version 1.4 and are very happy with the results.
My system boots reasonably well at the moment. There are still some problems but that is not for this mail.
Me be this data is usefull for you.

Keyboard input disappear after a further 3 minutes until the window with the progress bar Windows is loading files appears. The Progress bar takes 1 hour 25 minutes to the end of DVD drive is constantly in operation LED blinks. Partitioning the hard drive with GPT in the setup program is possible. After rebooting the system after the expansion of the files if the installation does not continue, but in Bios mode reboot.
An installation in a non raid system in AHCI mode is the starting time of 90 minutes to equal partitioning, however, interrupt the installation of Windows when copying files from a Blue Screen.
In IDE mode lasts until the installer to copy the Windows files, about 40 seconds. Cancels but to restart the setup program with a blue screen from.

    Hello!
The problem I had with UEFI Click Bios 1.43 my system can not use.
A UEFI installation of Windows from the UEFI shell is not possible neither in IDE, AHCI or RAID mode, loading the Windows setup files in the RAM more than 90 minutes after discontinuation of the installation disk partitioning with bluescreen. An installation in bios emulation mode while the system is very unstable faults in RAM, often with a system crash.
At 19.06 I was at the Customer Service Support by MSI changed
In response, I received at 20.06 that a test is made.
At 02.07 I update miy BIOS with the latest legacy Bios 1.74 to check if the problem still persists
(Under Bios 1.74 proceeded to install Windows Vista and Windows 7 correctly and in the normal time frame. The loading of the Windows Setup files "Windows is loading files into memory did not last longer than a minute the rest of the installation 20 minutes. Both in the IDE, AHCI and RAID0 mode. Access to the RAID Bios with the keyboard works flawlessly. Diagnostic tests of memory real flawlessly. The system is running properly and stable.) The Problem is UEFI Click Bios 1.43
    At 14.07 I received a final response from MSI:Quote
1.For the EFI bios is only for ERP 020 for thr hardware design and at the same time, the original bios of 010(your motherboard version) is legacy bios.
2.If U insist to use EFI bios and please feed back the issue to your reseller direcly because that we could find the same memory as your's indeed. And the reseller will help you or ask MSI HQ for help.Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
This answer I do not quite
An answer to my question whether the error was reproducibly remained unanswered
    1. Is there a P45D3 Platinum with ERP 020 (ms 7513-020) available?
    2. How can I Windows Vista 64 with SP1 or Windows 7 RC from the UEFI-shell to correctly install?
    3. Is My Memory compatible with UEFI Click Bios V.1.43?

  • Memory upgrade on P45D3 Platinum

    Hello,
I currently use the following configuration:
    - P45D3 Platinum motherboard
    - Intel Core2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.175GHz
    - 2x 1Gb Corsair CM3X1024-1333C9DHX 9-9-9-24
    - ATI Radeon HD3650
    - Bios v1.6
    - Windows XP SP3
    - no overclocking
I would like to upgrade to 4Gb (the purpose of this upgrade is to use Windows 7 on my PC)
My first idea is to buy 2 additional modules (2x 1Gb) of the same Corsair memory parts and to plug them on the 2 remaining slots of the motherboard.
But, according to the test report on memories for P45D3 Platinum found on MSI site, only the configuration with 2x 1Gb Corsair CM3X1024-1333C9 has been tested.
Should I understand that plugging 4 of these Corsair modules does not work on P45D3 Platinum?
Is anybody using P45D3 Platinum with 4x 1Gb Corsair modules (same modules than the ones I use)?
The alternative solution is to buy 2x 2Gb memory modules (one of those listed on the test report) but it will be more expensive.
Can anyboby help me to choose the right configuration?
    Thank you
    Best regards
    Didier

Have you considered installing the 32-bit version of Windows 7? 2GB RAM should be fine with that version. If you buy the retail version of Windows 7 you should get both the 32-bit and 64-bit discs.
You'll be able to run 4 x 1GB modules as the motherboard supports the following:
    • Supports four unbuffered DIMM of 1.5 Volt DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600* (OC) DRAM, 8GB Max
It may not have been tested in the report but it should in theory be fine.
