P45D3 Platinum Bios 1.72 Beta

Should we trust this bios version ?

My bios version is 1.6
Because i want my memory (OCZ Gold XTC OCZ3G13332G ) running at 1333MHz, only can run it stable at 1066MHz.
Heres my OCZ memory post:

The industry standard voltage for all DDR3 memory modules is 1.5V +/- 0.075V.  The fact that your modules need 1.7-1.9V for DDR3-1333/CL9 tells you that these are factory overclocked DDR3-1066 modules, not true DDR3-1333 which should run at a standard voltage of 1.5V +/-0.075V as well.  Also, please note that the P45 Chipset natively only supports DDR3-800 and DDR3-1066 memory modules.  From the point of view of the chipset, forcing the memory speed to DDR3-1333 is overclocking and not necessarely stable.
You are basically overclocking the memory controller/chipset and your modules.  This causes stability problems in many cases.  Also, your problem is not necessarely BIOS related.  Have you tested real DDR3-1333 modules that are built to run @1.5V JEDEC Standard voltage?

It is already outdated.  To my information, the latest BETA Release is v1.7b4.  I don't have the changelogs for BIOS v1.7b3 and v1.7b4, but the following changes were made in v1.7b1 and v1.7b2:
v1.6 --> v1.7b1
- Fix Memtest fail with Elixir M2F2G64CB8HA4N-DG 2G*2 DDR3-1600.
v1.7b1 --> v1.7b2
- Fix CrossFire Function fail when use MS-V162 (R4650-D1G) x 2 pcs.

    Hi everyone
I wonder if anyone knows if there are some bios version to MSI K9A2 Platinum there they have change the V-core settings. I think it´s very big step between the different V-core setting.
    In my bios (v.1.3) i have this settings at V-core. Auto=1.32v (AMD 5000+ BE) then 1.36, 1.39, 1.44, 1.49, 1.51. etc.
So, if anyone knows if there are som bios version that have better options to the V-core settings i would be grateful

When you set 1.60v Vcore in bios, you will find CPUZ only reads 1.55v
and if you set 1.65v in bios, it reads 1.60v
    what's going on?
CPUZ vcore value is VID setting,It is not real voltage.
    i dont think so .
CPUZ always reads correctly with prevous Bioses.
and the value set in BIOS  :   CPUZ readings
    BIOS          CPUZ
    1.5v            1.45v
    1.55v          1.50v
    1.6v            1.55v
Which BIOS did you find the issue,1.48 only?
    How about 1.47,1.46?
    yea, 1.48 only.
now i am going back to 1.47.
I can't find the issue in my system.

  • P45D3 platinum gskill ripjaws DDR-3 1600 problem

    Hi to all.
    I have a problem my p45d3 platinum (bios 1.7B2) and gskill ripjaws 1600 4GB ( http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=222 )
I can't run this ram at its default speed, it can't go higher than 1333 mhz.
I read that this is a common problem with this motherboard, because many ddr3-1600 are overclocked and overvolted ddr3-1066/1333 and no real ddr3-1600.
But i think i have REAL ddr3-1600 ram, because its voltage is "only" 1,5V.
So, why my motherboard recognize it as ddr3-1333? Additionally, this ram supports xmp: if i enable it, bios recognize the right speed, but system does not boot.
I tried to increase the ram voltage and manually set the default timings, but without luck.
What can i do? I see there are a lot of other parameters about ram which can be set, but i don't know how... maybe someone can give me some advices?
Thank you to all, hope semebody can help me. And sorry for my english
    Kind regards

    Hi,
Can you please provide a screenshot of the CPU-Z "SPD" View?
Keep in mind, that the Intel P45 Chipset (well, it's memory controller) natively only supports DDR3-800 and DDR3-1066 memory modules (according to Intel Specifications).  So, operation @DDR3-1600 is not a given under all circumstances.

    Hello!
The problem I had with UEFI Click Bios 1.43 my system can not use.
A UEFI installation of Windows from the UEFI shell is not possible neither in IDE, AHCI or RAID mode, loading the Windows setup files in the RAM more than 90 minutes after discontinuation of the installation disk partitioning with bluescreen. An installation in bios emulation mode while the system is very unstable faults in RAM, often with a system crash.
At 19.06 I was at the Customer Service Support by MSI changed
In response, I received at 20.06 that a test is made.
At 02.07 I update miy BIOS with the latest legacy Bios 1.74 to check if the problem still persists
(Under Bios 1.74 proceeded to install Windows Vista and Windows 7 correctly and in the normal time frame. The loading of the Windows Setup files "Windows is loading files into memory did not last longer than a minute the rest of the installation 20 minutes. Both in the IDE, AHCI and RAID0 mode. Access to the RAID Bios with the keyboard works flawlessly. Diagnostic tests of memory real flawlessly. The system is running properly and stable.) The Problem is UEFI Click Bios 1.43
    At 14.07 I received a final response from MSI:Quote
1.For the EFI bios is only for ERP 020 for thr hardware design and at the same time, the original bios of 010(your motherboard version) is legacy bios.
2.If U insist to use EFI bios and please feed back the issue to your reseller direcly because that we could find the same memory as your's indeed. And the reseller will help you or ask MSI HQ for help.Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
This answer I do not quite
An answer to my question whether the error was reproducibly remained unanswered
    1. Is there a P45D3 Platinum with ERP 020 (ms 7513-020) available?
    2. How can I Windows Vista 64 with SP1 or Windows 7 RC from the UEFI-shell to correctly install?
    3. Is My Memory compatible with UEFI Click Bios V.1.43?

  • Memory upgrade on P45D3 Platinum

    Hello,
I currently use the following configuration:
    - P45D3 Platinum motherboard
    - Intel Core2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.175GHz
    - 2x 1Gb Corsair CM3X1024-1333C9DHX 9-9-9-24
    - ATI Radeon HD3650
    - Bios v1.6
    - Windows XP SP3
    - no overclocking
I would like to upgrade to 4Gb (the purpose of this upgrade is to use Windows 7 on my PC)
My first idea is to buy 2 additional modules (2x 1Gb) of the same Corsair memory parts and to plug them on the 2 remaining slots of the motherboard.
But, according to the test report on memories for P45D3 Platinum found on MSI site, only the configuration with 2x 1Gb Corsair CM3X1024-1333C9 has been tested.
Should I understand that plugging 4 of these Corsair modules does not work on P45D3 Platinum?
Is anybody using P45D3 Platinum with 4x 1Gb Corsair modules (same modules than the ones I use)?
The alternative solution is to buy 2x 2Gb memory modules (one of those listed on the test report) but it will be more expensive.
Can anyboby help me to choose the right configuration?
    Thank you
    Best regards
    Didier

Have you considered installing the 32-bit version of Windows 7? 2GB RAM should be fine with that version. If you buy the retail version of Windows 7 you should get both the 32-bit and 64-bit discs.
You'll be able to run 4 x 1GB modules as the motherboard supports the following:
    • Supports four unbuffered DIMM of 1.5 Volt DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600* (OC) DRAM, 8GB Max
It may not have been tested in the report but it should in theory be fine.

I have tried to install Windows Xp, I comes as far to "Windows Xp begins" (in the installation process..) when a blue screen apears.
So I tested to install Ubuntu, with no problem.. (apart from that I am a beginner at linux, and got all the usuall problems....)
I wanted to try update my bios, but how ??..
the MSI Forum HQ USB Flashing Tool requires a windows installation on a computer with msi board..
I was plaining to use my old computer to unpack it in to an usb flash drive...

  • PC won't boot after memory upgrade (on MSI P45D3 Platinum)

I am having a problem on my MSI P45D3 Platinum motherboard system (Dual OS: Win XP and Win 7)
Until recently I was running it on PATRIOT 2GB (2x1GB) 1600MHz DDR3 PDC32G1600LLK memory (CL7) and all was fine, though running only at 1066MHz, since I couldn't tweak the settings (latencies/voltage) in order for it to run at 1600MHz.
I wanted to add RAM but since I couldn't find the same type anywhere in my town, I decided to go for PATRIOT 4GB (2x2GB) 1600MHz DDR3 PSD34G1600KH Signature Line (CL9). However, the system never booted again (blank screen, no signal sent to monitor) after adding the two new sticks of RAM! The new RAM is working fine when I remove the old and vice versa, so I know it is not a case of defective sticks.
I must mention that I cannot fiddle with the RAM timings because I cannot even reach BIOS!
Any help will be most welcome!

Mixing different memory modules is always a gamble and likely to cause such problems.  Identical modules should be used for best results.
In many cases, you can set what you want regarding memory configuration, getting the RAM mixture to work stable will simply be impossible, even though there is no defect.

    No error beep nothing.
    Tried other PS same problem.

Tried again with everything but this time changed the CPU to a Core2 E6850 - samething
All the above procedure was again tried with a MSI NX8500GT GPU
Once again tried everything with a different 500W PS - Still nothing happend.
By mistake I forgot to connect the CPU and GPU power connector. Now the board lights all led's but still its not alive.
Connected the CPU power again. And the board was dead as before.
Tried the same with only the GPU power connected, and again dead.
Moved CPU GPU and RAM to my P35 Platinum and after reset it came to life.

    Hi FlyveKristoffel,
Had same problems with my P45D3 Platinum, including no- or bad initialisation of my videocard. Checked at the website of producer of my memorymodules for the optimal settings and found that the units were in fact overclocked and needed voltage setting of 1.8V instead of 1.5 and so on.
Changed settings in the BIOS accordingly and even redused memoryclock to 1033MHz.
Updated the BIOS to version 1.4 and are very happy with the results.
My system boots reasonably well at the moment. There are still some problems but that is not for this mail.
Me be this data is usefull for you.
