P45D3 Platinum - DLed is full red but the CPU is OK

Hello,
After I organized the cables inside my PC case the MB (P45D3 Platinum) could not start. The D-Led was red completely and did not change even after some restart, reset or power cycle. All other blue leds lit.
I performed CMOS reset but did not work. I minimized the config to PS, MB, CPU, 1xRAM, VGA and freed up all the cables but the problem remained. I tried both the RAMs separately I have - no change.
Then I tried the CPU and the VGA in my son's computer and found them OK. But I could not try the RAMS as I have DDR3 and his PC supports only DDR2. This is the current status.
Can anyone advice something to find the cause and solve this problem?

I believe that only one rail can be enough for the MB and the CPU (12V x 15A = 180W by the first 12V rail) as the CPU (E8400) is a 65W model.
The VGA needs 2 x 75W = 150W (by the second 12V rail) from the PSU. The fans require 4 x 8W = 32W, the HDDs & DVD R/W 4 x 10W = 40W (72W by the third rail).
The total required power is 402 W. I do not believe this power is provided by only the 12V rails but the +5V & +3.3V (141W) rail and by the other ones (9.6W +17.5W).
Do you agree with this calculation?
Another thing: why this config worked for 2 months properly if the PSU is not enough? :smiley:
And I would still like to known what is the led3 for? Is it an error signal if this led lits red?

Yes, I could connect them by ethernet if all I wanted to do was transfer files, but I would like to network them so I could use wireless internet. The machines are not always so close together, I did that to simplify the testing. With the very slow transfer speeds I am reluctant to move ahead with the internet step.

My hard drive is randomly on full blast and the CPU at 50% usage...???

Out of the blue all of a sudden my hard drive goes to work at full capacity and the CPU is at 50% usage. iotop shows nothing. I close Chromium, Gedit, and my Terminal and the hard drive continues for a minute on full blast.
I hate when the computer does these things without my approval. What's going on here?

@ewaller: Exactly! iotop *should* show something but it doesn't. If it happens again, I'll have a look at the logs. Which logs should I look in?
@litemotiv and egan: Yeah, i know updatedb does this sometimes, but in this case it lasted much much longer and updatedb didn't show up in iotop like it normally does. Also, i've kept a very very detailed log of every single thing i've installed or which settings I've modified. This incident has only happened a few times so I don't think it's a package or a cronjob. I don't think i have any cron jobs except for one. Last time it happened randomly hours into my session.
I use Gnome. DAEMONS=(syslog-ng dbus hal networkmanager !network netfs alsa !avahi-daemon @crond)
A bad sector seems like a possibility!

I bought Adobe Acrobat Pro XI full version but the serial number given to me is invalid

I bought Adobe Acrobat Pro XI full version and the reseller sent me a serial number but when I install an error message says the serial number is invalid.
The reseller claimed it is Adobe's problem not theirs.
Adobe website is very confusing that I am not able to send an email to ask for help.
It has been a week since I bought it and I am still not able to enjoy the program.
How do I go about getting Adobe attention on my problem ?

Ok, thanks for that. If the serial doesn't work, you will indeed need to contact Adobe. But here are some things to try first.
1. Does it refer to a QUALIFYING PRODUCT? If so, enter the serial number of the OTHER product, not the one you just paid for.
2. If you are copy/pasting the serial, try typing it. If you are typing it, try copy/pasting it.
3. Make sure what you purchased matches what you downloaded. For instance, check you didn't buy Acrobat Standard and try to install Acrobat Pro. Or that you didn't buy a Mac product for use in Windows. And so on.

User gets Mailbox almost full message but the Exchange malibox is not close to full

We are running Exchange 2010 and Unity 7.0. User always get that his exchange mailbox is almos full and it very close to empty. I can NOT clear this message. I have deleted the user from unity and it still is happening.

Please check the Storage limit policies against the mailbox.
On the Cisco Unity server, select Start > Programs > Microsoft Exchange >
System Manager.
Expand the servers group.
Expand your Unity server.
Expand first storage group.
Right-click on mailbox store and select Properties.
Click the Limits tab and set a value for these fields:
Issue warning at (KB)
Prohibit send at (KB)
Prohibit send and receive at (KB)
Click OK to save the changes.
You can disable this warning (not really recommended):
Go to your Unity server desktop > open the "Unity Tools Depot" >
expand the "Administration Tools" folder > double-click on the
"Advanced Settings Tool" and set to 0 the following attributes:
"Conversation - Full Mailbox Check Feature"
"Conversation - Full Mailbox Check Prompt"
Then reboot the Unity server.

Memory upgrade on P45D3 Platinum

I currently use the following configuration:
- P45D3 Platinum motherboard
- Intel Core2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.175GHz
- 2x 1Gb Corsair CM3X1024-1333C9DHX 9-9-9-24
- ATI Radeon HD3650
- Bios v1.6
- Windows XP SP3
- no overclocking
I would like to upgrade to 4Gb (the purpose of this upgrade is to use Windows 7 on my PC)
My first idea is to buy 2 additional modules (2x 1Gb) of the same Corsair memory parts and to plug them on the 2 remaining slots of the motherboard.
But, according to the test report on memories for P45D3 Platinum found on MSI site, only the configuration with 2x 1Gb Corsair CM3X1024-1333C9 has been tested.
Should I understand that plugging 4 of these Corsair modules does not work on P45D3 Platinum?
Is anybody using P45D3 Platinum with 4x 1Gb Corsair modules (same modules than the ones I use)?
The alternative solution is to buy 2x 2Gb memory modules (one of those listed on the test report) but it will be more expensive.
Can anyboby help me to choose the right configuration?

Have you considered installing the 32-bit version of Windows 7? 2GB RAM should be fine with that version. If you buy the retail version of Windows 7 you should get both the 32-bit and 64-bit discs.
You'll be able to run 4 x 1GB modules as the motherboard supports the following:
• Supports four unbuffered DIMM of 1.5 Volt DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600* (OC) DRAM, 8GB Max
It may not have been tested in the report but it should in theory be fine.

Ix4-300 fan keeps running full blast and the NAS never comes online

When I turn on the ix4-300 after a couple of seconds its fan starts running full blast but the NAS never comes online. The NAS lcd was damaged in the move so I don't know what is going on, it was working fine for a couple of weeks (with the damaged lcd) but this started happening a few days ago. Things that I've tried:
Used the other ix4-300 (I've 2) with the faulty NAS... same result
Let the NAS run with full FANS for 4 plus hours ......, Still didn't come online
Also both the blue and white light are constant .... no blinking whatsoever.
Any ideas ...

It could be the device itself. Is it covered by the warranty?
Are you concerned about retrieving the data or do you just want the device back up and running properly?
If you are not concerned about data, you can try the following procedure at your own risk:
Power down the device and reseat all the drives in the device. Power the device back on.
If this doesn’t allow unit to boot, continue with below process.
   1. Turn off the device and pull out all the drives.
   2. Place any other drive 2, 3 or 4 in the first slot and boot up the device.
   3. Wait for sometime as the boot-up process can be slow.
         a. If it doesn’t boot, try another disk in slot 1.
   4. If it boots up correctly, insert another disk in slot 2.
        - Check UI for disk detection.
        a. If second disk is detected, turn it off, place disk 3 and 4 in unit and boot up.
        b. If it doesn’t boot-up correctly, remove 3 or 4 and retry. You may need to try to determine if 3 or 4 is bad in this case.
   5. Recreate the volume if it doesn’t start regenerating automatically

My dv6120us laptop boots, but the fan (which works in another computer) does not come on...

I have a dv6120us laptop that I am having fan troubles with. I don't have an OS loaded but the CoA is for XP media center edition. The computer boots up and can access the bios if necessary, but the CPU cooling fan never kicks on. I have pulled it out and cleaned it, but that didn't fix the problem. It doesn't seem to matter how long the computer runs, it does not shut down either. I have pulled the fan out and tried it with a different motherboard and the fan came on like it was supposed to, so I know the fan itself is not faulty. I have also tried a different fan (same, correct part#) with this motherboard, but the second one didn't work either. I don't know if I'm dealing with a problem getting power to the fan or whether it is an automatic shut down problem, maybe both. I'm guessing that I have issues with the motherboard, and I feel relatively comfortable troubleshooting and attempting repairs on the motherboard, but I am at a loss for where to look for my problem. Is there anyone that can help me troubleshoot the motherboard and try to get this fan working? The motherboard HP part# is 434723-001.

I think I have found my problem... I know how to fix this, but I do not know how to identify the specs for this part or where I can find a replacement. I would hate to replace the whole motherboard for an inexpensive fix like this.

I am tuning a query in DWH env using a WITH clause .Doing that my consistent gets are reduced by 50% but the elapsed time in increased.
In that one 40000 rows are coming from WITH clause and joined with a table having 250000000 rows joined through Hash join.
can anybody help me out in this issue.

Why is the CPU usage different ? I used LOAD_BALANCE option.

You are partially correct which is another way of saying you are incorrect too.
There are two types of load balancing ... server side and client side. There are also questions with respect to how the client is connecting, we don't know, whether the session load is identical, etc. which the OP has not stated.
The only thing I can absolutely say at this point is that what the OP has seen is normal and I can't see any reason why, unless the skew is very large and very permanent, anyone should care.
To the OP: Let's step back from the "what I want" statement and go to the basis of your inquiry: "Why do you care? Please provide a business reason and cite specific performance metrics, from your system, showing the problem you are trying to address. Then perhaps we can help you.

I'm running mainstage on my new macbook pro, and the CPU keeps maxing out. WHY????

SO, new macbook pro, and logic runs like a dream, 10 instruments, 20 tracks, all is well...
However, mainstage is killing me. I can see the amazing potential, but the CPU keeps spiking, literally when I try to loopback 1 instrument. It is ridiculous. I'm verging on submitting to Ableton, help me please!

Did you check the I/O buffer size in Preferences/Audio? It can well be, that small buffers like 32 frames may screw the show. Which instruments are you using? MS in single threaded, so everything is processed on a single core.

I don't have any volume. When I push the mute button or try to increase the volume up or down nothing happens. The volume shows up as if it were at full volume but no sound. I am so frustrated.

Go step by step and test.
1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
    Highlight Internal Speakers.
    Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
2.Plug in and remove the headphone.
    If you see red light in the headphone port or not, plug the headphone
    in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
    Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
    Try this even if you don’t see the red light.

    Choose the method for:
    "Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
5. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup

6. System Preferences > Sound> Sound Effects
    Play sound effects through:

Try a few things:
First, try double tapping the home button. You should see a row of apps at the bottom; these are your recenty opened apps. Hold your finger down on any of the icons until they start to shake, and a red minus() appears. Tap the red minus for each app. This will close the app, not delete it. If you have too many apps open, this can cause crashes.
If it still crashes, try the basic troubleshooting steps here:

Hi to everybody and good native you would know how to tell me thing they serve the led set on the p45d3 platinum.
Have I noticed that there are some blue led to thing they serve?
Others in low that change color I am usually verid?
Another precisely the led 3 that when the mian board and out it flashes of red, instead when he has turned on is red fixed.

LED positions described on the drawing of the motherboard do not match with the ones I have on my P45D3 Platinum board (MS7513 ver1.0).
For exemple, on my board, D-LED are on the right of the battery (board as shown on your drawing) and they are set with 2 columns of 4 leds as follows:
LED12 LED13
LED8 LED7
LED14 LED10
LED15 LED11
Could you please clarify the reason of this difference?
Additionally, my PC does not boot: nothing on the screen ... (I have checked the connection between the PC and the screen)
LED12, LED8 and LED15 are red
LED10 is green
the others are off
Could you help to understand where the problem is?
