P4M890M-L/IL bios updaten

Wie helpt me?

The Medion is a special version (maybe it was a customized version), so the chips, kernels on motherboaed may have different arrangement, so is the BIOS code. The bios which released from MSI usually for the mass production product. That't the reason why I don't suggest you to flash the bios.
1.A big risk to damage the chips on motherboard.
2.If the chips are damaged by flashing bios, it is very hard to repair it because the material and resoure are lacked.

I'm having exactly the same issue (extremely slow BIOS POST, after POST everything is OK), with an identical hard configuration,
On my particular research, this is the only valuable information i've found (from nvidia tech support):
    from: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=150630&st=40 (the last post)
I wanted to provide an update on this issue as it has been a while. Unfortunately this is only an update as we have not finalized our findings yet. We are still trying to obtain some of the motherboards reported in this thrad. Presently, it appears it may be due to the motherboard BIOS, not the card itself. If after examining additional motherboards, the results are the same, this means that the fix will be to ask the motherboard maker to provide a BIOS update with a fix. The fix is very simple. A register in the motherboard BIOS must be enabled which appears some may not have enabled it. Your motherboard must have Memory Type Range Register (MTRR) enabled. To check, you may do the following however this will require some technical knowledge:
    First, download the file below:
    http://nvidia.s3.amazonaws.com/msd.zip
Unzip the files contents. You will need to run the utility in pure DOS (means you will need to create a DOS boot disk and boot off of the DOS boot disk). Add "device=himem.sys" in config.sys and load smartdrv.exe in autoexec.bat in the DOS boot disk or else the boot disk will take a long time to load. Type "msd.exe" to start the program. Then press TAB and left arrow key to "System Information" and press ENTER. Press PAGE DOWN key and you will see the Item 2. "Memory Information", in the bottom of this item you can see "Physical memory cache status". That's the MTRR setting for your system. If you see A0000~D0000 is uncacheable, that mean that the motherboard BIOS does not have MTRR enabled and is likely the cause of the slow POST issue.
So the solution seems to be a bios update enabling the MTRR.
    I wish this can help...
and it would be perfect to have the problem solved soon! :D
(I'm not expert on bios development but seems to be a minor change.)
Thanks a lot for your time!
this dosent help i know that is MB issue not a graphic card coz there is same problem with ASUS MB they made some hot fix for BIOS and now everything works fine when ASUS mb BIOS its uptodate....
simple we need MSI mb BIOS hot fix thats BIOS POST was quite annoyng but my pc is 24/24 on restart every week
    thx for ur hel anyway

Also keine Dauerlösung).Ich Bitte um Hilfe. Vielen Dank.

Was soll diese **bleep**e???

PLEASE HELP!! I just purchased this Barebone Computer Kit from Tiger Direct to replace my wife's laptop which is dying. I finally have all the parts to assemble it and start it up. When I purchased the kit "Online" it was sold as a "All Systems Tested and Fully Compatable System".
I was having problems cold booting this computer for the first time. I have now resolved that issue and found the source of the problem in the bootup process itself. Evidently all is not well and fully tested and compatable as Tiger Direct says it is. As the computer boots up for the very first time, you have only 3-4 minutes to tell it weather or not to proceede with installing the following message. I have taken the time to copy the message exactly as it is displayed on my computer screen. I of course will be calling Tiger Direct's Tech Support Line. I have found them to be only as good as the person who answers the phone. Being I'm green anyhow and won't know weather or not I'm being feed a line of BS or not, I thought I'd get some other opinions from folks who understand Computers far better than I. I'm simply firefighter who is trying to buy his wife a decent computer without spending an arm and a leg. In fact I thought this thing would arrive already assembeld and all I needed to do was add an OS and some extras, like a decent video card. I never intended to  build this thing from scratch, I could have purchased a simular spec'd Gateway complete with OS preinstalled with a warrenty for less money!!! I'm Not Happy and Not a Techie!! But looking on the bright side, I sure am learning a lot about computers! If I can get it to work without too many more problems I will be very happy.
    When the computer first boots, here is the message that appears on the screen;
AMIBIOS C 2005 American Megatrends Inc
    BIOs Date 8/25/06 24:17:51 Ver A7255VMS V1.0
    Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz Speed 266x12 =3200

A 200 MHz System Bus Processor is Installed
This Processor Is Not Supported On This Board And Will Run At A Reduced Processor Clock Speed. System Performance Will Be Impacted.
Do You Wish To Continue To Boot @ 266MHz
System Bus And Reduce Processor Speed (Y/N)
Press (Y) To Continue (N) to Shut Down
If I press the Y the computer will run and not shut off in 3 minutes. I let it run last night to see what would happen?? Would it burst into flames?? Would it shut down?? Well after a hour it shut down. Is that normal? Is it some kind of saftey mechinism?
It will start right up again, but it was almost 5am so I shut er down and went to bed. I'm waiting for some advice before I move forward from here. Please respond ASAP! I'd like to get this thing done so I can move on to the next 'Honey Do' project.
This is my first computer I have ever built so I am green to all this. I dont really understand what all this means and what kind of an impact will this have on my new computer??
    1. What does this mean, my CPU is not compataible to this board?
    2. If I keep it and install it, will it cause the computer to be unstable latter on?
    3. How much of a negitive impact will this have on my computer?
    4. How much will it slow it down?
    5. What would you do if you were in my shoes? Replace the CPU for the right one or upgrade to a better one or keep it??
    6. If I do upgrade, what would be a better choice and not break the bank??

    :no-idea: Thanks Dry Heat,
I went to the link that you provided. Here is the latest problem...... I can get the computer to run longer than 3 minutes by pressing the Y key when asked during the initial boot-up. After that the computer will not move off that window I described in my 1st post, no matter what I do. I tried restarting the computer and pressed the Delete key to see if that would work and the F1 and F2 keys during the initial boot up, the Bios Window would appear but the computer would shut down, there was nothing I could do to get past this, let alone go on-line to download something. How would I get on-line without an operating system to update the Bios? Remember I am Green and have no idea what the heck I'm doing, let alone what is the real problem here. Its like fighting fire blindfolded! Please help and be detailed on how I should procede. Thanks! Woody

  • P4M890M-L CPU Up-Grade Question

    I'm currently running a P4M890M-L board with a Pentium D 805.
The boot up screen is showing the Bios version as A7255 VMS V1.0.
Will I need to flash the Bios to use an E2180?
Or is this a case of just putting the new one in and see if it works?
    Thanks.

  • CMOS Error..Also BIOS wont save settings...

Well, as the title says, i get a "CMOS checksum bad" error on system startup. This never occur'd until i upgaded my BIOS to the latest version, and ever since then i get this checksum error, and also my BIOS doesnt save ANY settings which i change.
Heres what happens, i start up my PC, here a quick "beep" noise, then this comes up:
    Quote
    CMOS Checksum Bad
    Press F1 to run setup
Press F2 to load default values and contine.
I then press F2, and continue.
The BIOS problem is strange, as i said, everything was fine until i upgraded my BIOS. Now, whenever i access the BIOS setup page, and change a setting, then press F10 to exit and save, my computer restarts (after i have pressed F10,as it should), and then i go back into my BIOS to check the settings, and they have gone back to what they were before i changed them!!
The motherboard i use is MSI P4M890M-L
If anyone could help me, i would REALLY appreciate it,thanks!
P.S. It has been suggested to me that my CMOS battery may have died, can this be possible?? my motherboard is only about 4-5 days old...my other one lasted longer than this, 7 years, and still counting.
EDIT: Well, for now it appears to be fixed. I just restored the old version of my BIOS which came with the motherboard and it appears to have booted up successfully this time round, also, my BIOS now saves correctly, and the "beep" noise has gone :D Sorry to waste your time.

I had the same problem after I flashed the new bios in windows mode. I downloaded the old bios which must be flashed from a dos mode. I noticed that one of the last steps in the flash update tool in dos is to destroy the cmos checksum.  In windows mode it doesn't do this. Maybe that's the problem

  • Lock ups in BIOS

Hi I'm using the 7.8 BIOS and accessing the "PC Health" Page in the BIOS locks my system. This happened before and a later BIOS cured it but it's back again (sorry for the vagueness can't remember exactly when). Has anyone else had this issue?
Bugger forgot to update SIG I have a Twinx1024 4000 mem kit @ 200FSb in there aswell

    Cheers for the reply Wonkaboy
my first post illustrates the hazards of of inputting your specs into your sig, they will always prove wrong after about a week. I had two drives but I got fed up with the cabling so I bought a combo instead. the cpu heat thing is a good idea though,  just replaced the cpu so I might take the heatsink off and recheck all the gunk and that.
oh yeah the cpu fan is direct to the psu

i have a MSI 785GM-E51 board,i got a problem with the graphic card bus interface,it still run in 8x not in 16x
i try to disable a onboard graphic on BIOS,but i not find it.
and last i try to update BIOS to v2.4 n' not work too.
    this a example;

You do not need to disable the onboard.
As for the plug-in card, there is nothing in the BIOS to make it work 8x or 16x.
Make sure your card is seated correctly, else it will work but at lower number of lanes.
What program is telling you it's 8x?

  • Z77A-GD65 Multiple BIOS Issues - B4 Hang, Splash Screen Blinking

Back in November 2012, I built a home server with a Z77A-GD65.  Lately, I've noticed some strange things happening that I've been trying to research but to no avail.
First off, I get the B4 code hang-up whenever I'm booting.  This doesn't matter if it's a cold boot or a reboot, it hangs on B4 for about 10-15 seconds, flashes 92 really quick, and then goes to A2 which it stays for another 5 or so seconds.  After that I get the MSI splash screen for about 1 second, then it blinks 5 times.  After that it goes into Windows just fine.
The blinking is a new issue, the B4 hang is not.  I've read from multiple posts that this is a USB issue.  When I disable USB legacy support, the issue goes away, but of course then I can't have legacy support.  I have yet to figure out what exact device is causing it.  In the process of trying to figure this out, I updated BIOS to A.A0.  After updating to this version of BIOS the splash screen blinks 5 times before going to the "Starting Windows" splash screen.  This is a more difficult issue to figure out why it's doing this because if you search for "BIOS" and "flash" or "flashes" or "flashing", you typically get results for flashing your BIOS.   Hence, why I'm using the term "blinking".  But even then I can't really find a solution out there.
I also happened to see that the website for the Z77A-GD65 is showing a newer BIOS version, but I'm unable to flash this (at least using M-Flash).  I threw it on a USB, re-enabled USB legacy and whenever I click on it to install, the BIOS screen hard locks.  The screen just freezes exactly where it's at in the BIOS and the mouse is dead.  However, I can CTRL+ALT+DEL on the keyboard and it will reboot the system so I don't need to power cycle the computer.  Not sure why this is happening either.  Perhaps I need to flash this a different way?  Maybe I don't need to flash this at all?
I could really use some input here on why this is happening.
As for the specs on my system, they're as follows:
i7-3770K overclocked to 4.2 Ghz by using the Turbo Mode in BIOS
32GB Komputerbay DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz DIMM with Low Profile Blue Heatspreaders Quad Channel RAM | 9-9-9-24 XMP ready
AMD PowerColor 7870 Myst Edition GPU - currently not overclocked although overclocking this doesn't seem to affect any issues
2 - 128 GB Corsair SATA III SSD - one runs the OS, the other I use to load games from
2 - 500 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM Sata II HDD's mirrored via Windows 7
1 - 750 GB Seagate Barracude 7200 RPM Sata II HDD
1 - 1 TB Western Digital MyBook USB 2.0 external
    2 - 3 TB Seagate USB 3.0 external

    for peripherals
1 - Microsoft 360 Wireless controller adapter (legit one, not the knockoff although I had a knockoff prior to getting the real deal)
1 - Logitech Wireless USB Keyboard with Touchpad
I tried to be thorough.  Thanks in advance for any help!

    Probably a USB device problem.
This is a candidate, as well as mouse and keyboard. Disconnect USB devices one at a time to find the culprit.
A lot of devices running. PSU a +12V single rail or is it multi rail? A rail going to the graphics or components may not be enough amps. My best guess is the card reader.
    For UEFI/BIOS flashing, select your mainboard here and use the forum flash method;
I'll definitely try unplugging some of these USB devices to see if that helps with the B4 hang issue.
As for the PSU, according to the description for it on Newegg:  "Four industry-leading independent +12v rails are provided for more stable and safer power output."  It has two rails going to the GPU.  The GPU is a new addition to the system and so I wasn't running it until recently.  The issues were occurring beforehand, but you're right that this PSU is underpowered for the rig considering PowerColor recommends a minimum of 500w.  I'm going to be buying a larger capacity one sometime in the very near future.  Any recommendations on good modular PSU's?  What's a good way to tell what wattage to get?
Thanks for letting me know about the forum flash method.  I'll be back later when I have some results.

  • Satellite A300 (PSAG8E) - What is new in BIOS 1.9?

    Hi,
I have a A300 PSAG8E and I would like to know what news between BIOS 1.7 and 1.9?
The new BIOS can change the fan control? On my A300 it is so loud.
    Thank's, regards, cricri975.

    Hi!
Have you checked the Toshiba website if there is a change log available?
Normally there you can check if its a change log available or not.
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
If you cant find a change log on the Toshiba website there is no change log available. ;)
    Bye

  • What is new in the Bios aviable for Satellite A100-PSAA9?

    i canot found a chanlog :(

    Hi Bela
What do you search for? Do you need informations about new BIOS version or what?
At this time you will find a newest version of BIOS on the Toshiba page.
I have checked the site and it seems the 5.10 version was released on 25/01/07 and its OS independent.
Unfortunately, you will not find any information about modification of the new BIOS version.
It seems Toshiba European site doesnt provide such details.

  • Tecra M3 - Stuck at Toshiba BIOS Splash Screen

Not sure what to do here with this one...
Bit of history... we bought my niece a used laptop for surfing/movies which worked fine when I had it a few weeks setting it up and such, she had it a week and it's now dead. Some days it works, some days won't even turn on. So, after much work determined it to be a motherboard issue, and since it was a $200 DELL, we optedto buy another laptop.
I grabbed a used Tecra M3, been playing with it all week, games, surfing, you name it, seemed a gtood solid performer. I give it to her, she goes upstairs, plugs it in, powers on and just sits at the splash screen.
Two nephews have no issues with theirs, wondering if possible the power outlet surging and killing the systems? She's 16, so (hopefully) knows how to handle a laptop carefully.
Regardless... can't afford another dead laptop. Stuck at startup BIOS splash screen, won't go beyond that. Won't let me into the BIOS, and if I hit too many keeps too many times, laptop just beeps per keystroke.
    Any advice?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, not much of a support forum... 2nd posting and neither issue I had had any responses at all.
In case someone see's this because having the same issue, the hard drive was very loose, barely making contact and fell off when I touched it. Pushed it all the way back in and works fine. Pegs on the panel designed to prevent the drive from becomming lose, not very good, still allowed the drive enough wiggle room to shake loose.

  • Z68A-GD80(G3) Can no longer read external hd dock after flashing beta bios

I flashed E7672IMS.J31 Beta Bios because I was on a very old bios that was not compatible with my GTX 970 card I just bought.  Flashing the bios fixed my 970 compatibility but in the process made it so my 2 external hd docks no longer worked (at this time on windows 7).  self powered usb harddrives still worked though.  At this time my sata mode was IDE which I thought might have had to do with it since it doesnt have hotswap. I assumed it was an issue with some drivers I installed after flashing the beta bios and I was due for upgrading/reformatting anyways so I enabled AHCI and hot swap then did a clean install of windows 8.1.  The external hard drives still don't read!!   I've used multiple different hard drives and different usb ports including usb 2.0.  The docks are usb 3.0 and I use them daily to edit photos from my work.  Any ideas of things I could try?
    My pc:
    intel 2500k
    16gb Corsair vengeance ram
    MSI 970 GTX GPU
    Corsair 750w power supply
    Z68A-GD80(G3) motherboard
    E7672IMS.J31 Beta Bios

Could the issue be that I didn't download the Intel Management Driver after installing the beta bios I flashed?  Maybe I could try that first, which one from this list do I use with my pc setup?
    thanks for the help!

  • Looking for Custom BIOS for Laptop *MSI GE70 Apache Pro 061* Win 8.1 64

I installed two G Skill Ripjaws 8GB 2133 Mhz Ram chips into my Apache Pro laptop. The speeds only show up as 1000 Mhz. I am trying to get a custom BIOS so I can make the necessary changes to that will allow my memory to run up to speed. Can anyone out there help me out with this? Thanks.

Thanks, Nichrome. However, the price difference between 1600 Mhz and 2133 Mhz was not much at all. I've future proofed myself if I decide to upgrade the CPU or even get a better laptop down the road. These ram sticks should at least be backwards compatible to 1600 Mhz, but still I'm not able to make it run at that speed. I'm still going to need a custom BIOS to make those changes. I appreciate the reponse, nonetheless.
