P50t-bst2n01 Laptop Stopped working

Hi so I was taking notes on PowerPoint for an exam with my laptop plugged in and all of a sudden the laptop shut down and will not turn on any more. The laptop charger is still working, I had it tested at a computer store, the computer has no lights when pressing power button and when plugging in the charger. I'm not sure what to do. I can't retrieve my hard drive either since that would void my warranty. I don't want to send my laptop to toshiba without backing up my files since they will reset the whole laptop.

Try these suggestions:
What can I do if my Windows 8 laptop won't start?

, Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums.  When it comes to a bios update the rule is if it isn't broke don't fix it.  If it is locked and not responding then the only choice you have is to do a hard reset first. HP Notebook PCs - Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset Once you have done that here is a link for doing a bios recovery. HP Notebook PCs - Restoring the BIOS Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

  • Scan on my CM2320fxi from my windows 8.1 laptop stopped working

I have the scanner software installed for my CM2320fxi on my hp laptop but for some reason it has stopped working. The scan function on the laptop times out and says it can't locate the scanner and the MFD can't recognise the laptop. There is no problem accessing the scan function from an older XP machine, but I can't seem to get it working from the newer Windows 8 machine.
    Help much appreciated

Are you able to ping the remote system by name? It sounds as though you are connecting to VPN but are unable to resolve the names of the host network. A few things that I would think of:
If the home system is not on a domain and the work system is, you may need to use the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN). For example, instead of
    computer you would enter computer.domain.com.
You may want to check if your VPN connection is configured as a default gateway, otherwise if your home and VPN network have the same IP address range you may be experiencing a conflict.
    See the instructions provided here.
You also may want to check the DNS settings for the VPN connection to ensure that it is finding the DNS server for the remote network and thus is able to resolve the hostname.
You may want to try connecting Remote Desktop via IP address to determine if the issue is with name resolution (DNS) or connectivity.

    Hi,
Re you talking about the Quick launch volume buttons at the top...
You can try this if it is the quick launch buttons:
Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues
    Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem

  • [Ubuntu, Windows 8.1] Touchscreen stopped working.

    Hello!
From about 1 year I'm lucky owner of Lenovo Idea Pad Flex 15 Laptop. I love it!
Today touchscreen of laptop stopped working after reboot from Ubuntu 14.04 to Windows 8.1. On both system screen is detected but, there is no input. I tried to turn off usb power saving on Win 8.1 and reinstalling all HIDs, without any success. On Ubuntu I tried to calibrate screen - still no luck. If applicable there is dmseg output:
    dmesg | grep eGalax

So, how to make screen working again?

    Hi,
A VPN 720 Error can occur if your server's VPN configuration doesn't point to a valid DHCP server on its network.  The result is your client can't connect since it doesn't have a valid IP address to use.
On the VPN Server, go to "Routing and Remote Access" under "Administrative Tools" and go to the "DHCP Relay Agent" configuration.  Check the DHCP server IP addresses that are listed for correctness
Regarding to restore point as mentioned in the post, do you have a anti-virus software installed? if you have, I suggest you temporarily disable it, then try restore point again.
For that specific update KB2920189, any error messages prompted when you uninstall it, you can also check the cbs log (Windows\logs\cbs), for detailed information.

  • Wifi stopped working. Not even manually.

    Hi,
I've no idea, where to go from here. Wifi on my Thinkpad Edge 13 Laptop stopped working (meanwhile a few weeks ago). Until then I had it running with NetworkManager and everything was fine. At home it is a WPA-connection. Still works without problems on mobile and kids' laptop (ubuntu).  "iw wlan0 scan" shows hardly any networks although there're loads around. That used to be different before. At work, an EAP-connection works well under NetworkManager. Now I removed NetworkManager in order to try manual connection.
When I start wpa_supplicant, I get "device or resource busy" and the connection fails. My conf-file consits only of the output of wpa_passphrase. The corresponding dmesg  shows several
    [ 1838.093841] wlan0: authenticate with 00:24:d1:79:a7:7d
    [ 1838.103460] wlan0: direct probe to 00:24:d1:79:a7:7d (try 1/3)
    [ 1838.206524] wlan0: direct probe to 00:24:d1:79:a7:7d (try 2/3)
    [ 1843.108643] wlan0: deauthenticating from 00:24:d1:79:a7:7d by local choice (reason=3)
After this, the interface comes down by itself. The output of dmesg is the same with NetworkManager. I've also tried wicd and netctl without success. I have ABSOLUTELY no idea how to continue debugging and appreciate any comment that might give me a new direction.
Question on the side: when I reinstall NetworkManager and enable it under systemd, do I have to enable dhcpcd under systemd as well or is that taken care of by NetworkManager?

Thank you for helping me out. When I tried again today I couldn't even get my interface up due to RF-kill. Installed rfkill (was there before when I tried wicd) and removed the soft block on phy0. Now these are the services running:
    $ sudo systemctl -t service
    UNIT LOAD ACTIVE SUB DESCRIPTION
avahi-daemon.service loaded active running Avahi mDNS/DNS-SD Stack
cronie.service loaded active running Periodic Command Scheduler
dbus.service loaded active running D-Bus System Message Bus
[email protected] loaded active running Getty on tty1
polkit.service loaded active running Authorization Manager
slim.service loaded active running SLiM Simple Login Manager
systemd-journald.service loaded active running Journal Service
systemd-logind.service loaded active running Login Service
systemd-modules-load.service loaded active exited Load Kernel Modules
systemd-remount-fs.service loaded active exited Remount Root and Kernel File
systemd-sysctl.service loaded active exited Apply Kernel Variables
systemd-t...es-setup.service loaded active exited Recreate Volatile Files and D
systemd-udev-trigger.service loaded active exited udev Coldplug all Devices
systemd-udevd.service loaded active running udev Kernel Device Manager
systemd-update-utmp.service loaded active exited Update UTMP about System Rebo
systemd-u...sessions.service loaded active exited Permit User Sessions
systemd-v...le-setup.service loaded active exited Setup Virtual Console
udisks2.service loaded active running Disk Manager
upower.service loaded active running Daemon for power management
Nothing network as far as I can tell. Then I get wlan0 up with "sudo ip link set". Starting wpa_supplicant I get this output (as before):
    Successfully initialized wpa_supplicant
    wlan0: Trying to associate with 00:24:d1:79:a7:7d (SSID='UPC009875' freq=2412 MHz)
    ioctl[SIOCSIWFREQ]: Device or resource busy
wlan0: Association request to the driver failed
wlan0: Authentication with 00:24:d1:79:a7:7d timed out.
    wlan0: CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED bssid=00:24:d1:79:a7:7d reason=3 locally_generated=1
After I quit with Ctrl-C the interface is down again...
Looks like the ioctl... is coming in my way, I'll try to figure out what that is.

  • S415 Touch: WiFi sometimes stops working

Randomly, the wifi for this laptop stops working. It says it's still connected but the internet cannot be accessed unless I reset the wifi. This happens pretty often, it can happen from once every 10 minutes to every 2 minutes. This proves to be an issue because I cannot maintain a stable internet connect for a long period of time.
I've already tried the suggestions for this such as going to device manager and disable to option to turn off the network adapter and removing/reinstalling/updating the network adapter with the file provided in the suggestion, none of these methods work, as I still disconnect at random intervals. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Also the only thing I haven't tried is disabling WMM, because when I tried to find it under the configuration of the Router it wasn't there.

    bravebird201,
Thank you for providing these information. What we need to do right now is to check if the current drivers for your wireless adapter is up to date.
    * Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter : check driver details. click on this Link for software and drivers update.
    * Linksys E1200 check if the router is set to Mix Mode, if it is set to Mix Mode you need to set it on wireless N. the wireless channel needs to be set on 11 and it should be on a 2.5 GHz frequency.
    * check the other laptop if it runs on a wireless G & N modes.

This works for some users. Not sure why.

  • I can't open Itunes on my laptop. "Itunes has stopped working. A problem causes the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" is the message. what is the problem here?

I can't open my Itunes program in my laptop computer with windows 8. the message is "Itunes has stopped working. A problem causess the program to stop working properly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". I reboot  the machine, Uninstall and re install the  Itune program, stilll the same message pops up.

The first thing to try is System Restore to take you back to a point in time when it did work. If that is not successful, create a new user on the computer. log in with that and see if ID will start. This will tell us if the problem is in the system/program or the user account.
If it works in a new user account, see Replace Your Preferences and in addition to replacing the prefs, empty the InDesign Recovery folder that will be in the same location and the InDesign SavedData file.
