P55-GD65 OC Genie not functioning

Testing the OC Genie function on my new system
Turned it on, the MSI splash screen appears with the text, "OC Genie Activated!!"
It then goes to a black screen and system restarts, did this about 4 times and then went to a black screen with just the fans running and would not load any further.
Let it sit there a good 5 minutes. Held down power and turned off OC Genie.
These are my system specs:
Motherboard: MSI P55-GD65 Bios 1.2
Processor: Intel i5 750 @ 2.66GHz w/ Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro REV.2 CPU Heatsink Cooler
RAM: G.SKILL F3-16000CL9D-4GBRH Ripjaws PC3-16000 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-2000 CL9-9-9-27
HD: Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB 7200RPM 32MB Dual Proc 3.5IN SATA
Graphics Card: Nvidia 8800 GT 512
PSU: Antec Earthwatts 650W Power Supply ATX12V V2.2 EPS12V Active PFC 80PLUS 120MM Fan
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium 62bit
Thanks in advance

Best then is to try it manual, if your confident enough.
But remember, if someone gets his  i7 750 to 3.8GHz, that isnt a garantuee that yours will too.
If yours barely skipped QC, say it reached 2.7GHz stable when testing, they still sell it, but you will never reach a decent oc with it.
Since no one of us can tell if thats the case with any cpu, only thing you can do is try it manually and see how far it clocks.
Also be sure that you check in regularly at MSI site for updates, might be just a fluke in bios and MSI will post new one as soon as its resolved ( if there is an issue with oc genie that is ).

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

    CAUTION
Before you restore the iPod make sure that your iTunes library has the version of apps that are presently installed on your iPod. Many apps have been update and the update apps are not compatible with the 2G iPod. I would do that by deleting the apps from your iTunes library and then transfer them to your iTunes library. See:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
In iTunes 11 use Control+B to show the Menu bar then go to iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

  • P55-GD65 won't boot with OC Genie activated

I have an P55-GD65 mobo that runs just fine with no problems except when I tried to activate the OC Genie. When I pressed the button and then tried to boot the machine -- it would begin the boot process then reboot over and over again without actually completing the boot process. When I pressed the OC Genie button again to deactivate it -- the machine booted just fine.
I've got Windows 7 Professional 64 bit installed.
What is my problem and how do I fix it so the OC Genie works?
    Thanks,

What is your current BIOS Version?

What memory frequency, timings and Comman Rate does the BIOS set when everything is set to default (check with CPU-Z)?
The BIOS has a tendency to automatically set the Command Rate to 1T instead of 2T which causes stability problems in many cases.

If the RAM is running at 1600MHz the OC Genie won't work properly.
There is a flip site to this kind of observation:  The CPU does not natively support DDR3-1600 and most modules sold as DDR3-1600 are actually just factory overclocked DDR3-1333 modules that require higher than standard voltages settings to have a chance to run stable.  This in itself already is an inherently tricky situation that does not get better when you enable the OC Genie.

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • MSI p55 gd65 will not post

hey guys i'm having problems with my MSI p55 gd65
    the build is
    i7 860
    msi p55 gd65
    antec signiture 650w
    ati 3450
    seagate 7200 400GB hdd
    8GB Corsair xms3 1333mhz
( i know some parts are under powered but it is going to form the basis of my new home server)
anyway i managed to get server 2008 R2 installed last night so all was working for a while but after restarting after changing the comp name and registering with Microsoft (i.e first actions) the computer refuses to post.
upon pressing the power button the power supply ticks as though there is a shot in the build somewhere , however i have tried to build this both inside and outside of a case and the same occurs.
Thinking it could be a psu issue i tried powering another machine with the psu and it fired no problems.
so i thought i would strip down the mother board to basics and ran the board with memory and cpu only the same occurred i have tried various different combinations of Hardware but to no avail. the only little joy i did have is when i removed the 4 pin mobo connector and then hte board starts going into a loop of lighting up the board leds for less than a second then tripping out as previous
i have tried reseting bios on various occasions
i have tried everything i can think of is it time to RMA the board i just feel that there is something i maybe overlooking

I have tried both of the above and the same still occurs
i have tried a different  psu from the machine i am typing from now and had no joy
i believe for whatever reason my motherboard is dead (or at least shorting for some reason)
unless there are any other ideas i think i'm going RMA

  • P55-GD65 Problem Freezes / Shuts Down unexpextedly

    Hi all,
I've recently received a replacement P55-GD65 part for my pc upgrade. The first mobo was broken but I'm not sure wether the current one is any better.
I have a freezing problem with my set up. After I power up it goes to post and lauches windows. However, within 5 to 10 minutes the system just shuts down on its own. Sometimes this happens already in BIOS when I've been looking around for a solution for some time.
After power down pressing the power button doesn't help. I have to disconnect power cord from PSU and wait a bit before reconnecting for the power button to work again.
I've been reading other posts and people have the similar problems, but none of the solutions have resolved my problem.
I've tried putting OC genie on - no solution.
I've tried using only 1 memory - no solution. and yes I've taken the memories out and reincerted them.
I've tried setting BIOS to optimized defaults - no solution.
I've tried setting memory speed down from Geil automatic 1333MHz to 1060MHz - no solution.
I've tried setting memory voltage up from Geil automatic 1,5V to 1,6V - no solution.
I've tried taking CPU out and replaced it in the socket - no solution.
I've updated Intel drivers from MSI website.
I've updated other drivers from the CD that came with the mobo.
    BIOS version is 1.3
There has been a lot of discussion about corsair memory modules but none about the GEIL ones I have. Has anyone experience with the memory I have? According to MSI website P55-GD65 is tested with a dual setup of 2g Geil memory that I have, and should be ok.
Can anyone lend a hand so that I can get my pc running. This has by far been the most troublesome upgrade for me.
    Thanks for replies!

To me it looks like not a single one of you has bothered to up date BIOS which has over time had numerous memory compatibility fixes.
     Update BIOS, get Crucial RAM.

I am not able to update the bios because my pc would crash before allowing me to. I asked MSI to update the BIOS before sending the board to me.

  • P55-GD65 Won't soft boot.

Updated my P55-GD65 to bios 1.6 and ever since my computer won't soft reboot via Windows. If I try to reboot in any normal matter from Windows the computer fully restarts up to just before an actual post and sits there until I either turn it off and back on or use the hard reset button. If I change settings in the bios and it soft reboots the machine it still posts, only happens from Windows.
    System Specs:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64
1x Seagate Sata II 500GB (Boot Drive)
    2x Seagate Sata II 1TB (Raid 0)
4x Patriot 1600EL 2GB RAM sticks (Using EMP timings)
    2x Sapphire Radeon 4870 (Crossfire)
I have disabled OC Genie and hard set the CPU multiplier to 21x.

Newer hardware having compatibility issues with Win 7 doesn't really points to BIOS update, more to driver issues most of the time. Anyway, in the future, only update the BIOS if you have BIOS related issues like unable to boot from USB, controllers not working for examples. Now, you have to try to roll back to the last working version and see if you can get the system to normal.

problem is it wont boot up keeps stoping after about 5 or 6 secs and starts again
ive tryed reinstalling ever thing again and using one stick of ram runing out of ideas
    help me please

download the manual from msi site , then look at different light configuration and compare it to what you see on your board when it keeps rebooting, then from the manual you should see possible causes. i give you an example
i see red  red blue red {each light can be blue or red or green,or off}.
and on the manual such config gives the possible cause, cpu not sited properly or memory not installed..
from what you have described it looks you have bios problem which means you have to return it to the seller or nearest msi dealer.

Use MSI Afterburner and set lower or fixed clocks for the graphics card.Enable Unofficial OVerclocking and set a fixed 2D clock to be applyed at start up ,see what happens.
Play a little with the 2D/3D clocks.I ve saw somewhere on a forum a issue with a similar mobo from some other vendor and another video card. The problems of that user stopped when he lowered the clocks of the video card.
You are using a 5770 which does a lot of frequency/voltage switching while in desktop.

  • Is my P55-GD65 dead on arrival? No response at all.

I'm not getting anything out of my new board.  I've built many systems before, but this doesn't seem to be working right.  I've got:
    - power supply connected at both the main power connector and the 8-pin aux power connector
    - CPU installed with fan plugged in
    - 2 DIMS of RAM installed
    - video card installed with PCI power plugged in
    - no front panel connections
    - board is sitting on my table, not in the case
When I flip on the power switch on the PS, I don't get any LEDs on the board lighting up.  I couldn't find anything in the manual about a power LED except for the 6 CPU voltage phase LEDs across the top of the board, but I don't know if those should be lit without the machine fully on or not.
Should the power and OC'ing buttons at the bottom be backlit when the machine is off? Shouldn't I be able to use the power button on the board to power up the machine without the front-panel switch?  I get no fans or drives spinning.  Should I be getting any voltage readings from the test pins when the machine is off, or only when running?
I tried my old power supply with the same results.
I'm guessing the board will need to be returned, but I just wanted to get a second opinion.

    Thanks for the replies.
Before I pulled the board out of the case to test it on my table, I did try powering up the system from the front panel power button.  When that didn't work, I removed the board from the case in the event the board was shorting out in the case.
I'm assuming that the power button on the board itself should work to turn the system on instead of shorting the pins for the front panel button.
So, on the P55-GD65 specifically, should there be any LEDs lit on the board when the PSU is on, but the computer is powered off?
    Thanks

  • Adjustment Layers Not Functioning

I have Photoshop CS6 and suddenly I am unable to use adjustment layers. I've been using Photoshop for over 15 years, and the procedure has always been the same; create an adjustment layer then click the circle on the left of that layer, and a dialog box appears where the curves, levels and such may be controlled. Clicking on this circle no longer produces the dialog box.

Thanks again Gene. In the past I've had to throw out the prefs file more than once but it's been so long I forgot that. I don't want to upgrade my OS because I've heard this and that about the higher systems. But what plugins would you recommend?
Not to pester you, though. If you don't want to respond I won't pursue it. Keep up your good work.

  • [WTA] MSI P55-GD65 6 phase on all the time? Where's APS?

    Hello, First Post here..
I bought a MSI P55-GD65 lately and it runs spectacular and overclocks nicely. the newer BIOS 1.6 is noticably more stable when High VDroop is used than the BIOS 1.5, resulting in more power-efficient system of my own despite overclocking  .
But nonetheless, i have some issues i would like to be answered:
    1. When I use BIOS 1.5, the core voltage would be dropped to 0.896 (CPU-Z) when i set the core voltage as auto and all the power saving features enabled (C1E & EIST Enabled, C6 state selected, Turbo Mode off). but when i flash into BIOS 1.6, the same setting does not result in decreased voltage, the core clock still slows down though like it used to be. Maybe the next revision of BIOS will fix it?
    2. I searched this forum about APS on P55-GD65, i have found that somebody here had testified that the BIOS 1.6 fixes the all-phase-working problem, as i was having the same problem too. Then i decided to flash to 1.6 too (which work flawlessly with your USB Flasher by the way, kudos  ). But the problem still persists. APS only works when i apply through Control Center. i wonder about APS statement of "will work regardless of operating system" is a true and automated one. And yeah, i have tried to clear CMOS and run it on nominal mode and still no changes from BIOS 1.5. The 6 phase LED is lit all the time unless i "apply" in Control Center.
    My Current system are:
    MSI P55-GD65 (Lotes ILM)
    I5 750
    HD 5770
    Silverstone Zeus 750Watt
    WDC Black 500GB
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    Thanks for your attention.

you have to run the cpu at default settings so (133mhz X multiplier) the slight overclock of the cpu will disable power saving so all the phase leds will constantly be lit up.
Have the multiplier running at 160 because of XPM 1600 memory blocks, and the board runs with 2/3 phases in normal mode.
Are using BIOS 1.3 because of XPM problems with other versions.

    Hi Guys,
I recently bought a new PC with a P55-GD65 motherboard and Im getting a lot of blue screens.
I started a topic on SevenForums and attached all dump files but it seems the problem is hard to pin down.
The topic and dump files can be found here: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/48197-please-help-bsod-new-windows-7-x64-pc.html
Im using the latest BIOS (1.5), Im running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium with latest updates and Im using the latest MSI drivers for the Motherboard.
    The only software installed is:
    - Eve Online client
    - Steam and Modern Warfare 2
    - Teamspeak RC2
    - MS Security Essentials
    - PC Angel (revovery software)
On SevenForums I was advised to check my harddrives, I runned HD Tune and my drives showed no errors.
I was also advised to run memtest, Im running it for over 4.5 hours now without any errors.
I realy dont know what I can do anymore. Do you guys have any advise what else I can try?
I have changed nothing in the BIOS itself and Im not overclocking the system.
Should I manually adjust some settings maybe?
