P6 8.3 Professional Typical Install Oracle Driver Problem

Hello,
I have installed P6 8.3 EPPM on a machine on top of Oracle 11g database. Now I just want to see how P6 Professional interface looks like so I am trying to do P6 Typical Install.
After selecting "Typical" in installation screen, it asks for
1. Oracle Connection String
2. UserName and Password (Database Alias is readonly and set to PMDB)
I have database with SID orcl running on port 1521, my question is what should I give for connection string and username and password. Also I didn't get significance of PMDB alias.
I tried orcl and //machine:1521/orcl in connection string and in username/password I tried PUBUSER (a schema present in oracle database) and its password, but get this error
Bad public user name or password. Cannot load OCI DLL: oci.dll;
Can someone help here?

Hello Daniel,
this is how my Path=E:\instantclient_11_2;...... variable looks like. I have put tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora in E:\instantclient_11_2 and this is how

  • Do i need oracle portal to install Oracle Drive ?

    Hi,
    Sorry for this dumber question, I am now to this.
    I am using an enterprise oracle database and I want to use the Oracle Drive feature.
    Do I need to install Oracle Portal only for doing this ?
    Thank you for your kind answer.
    Regards,

    I think you do because this is a WebDAV tool and allows you to see the page groups and pages as folders/directories.

  • Edit in Place without installing Oracle Drive

    Hello
    We wish to use the functionality of 'Edit In Place' through our own custom jsp pages however we do not wish to deploy Oracle Drive to users as we want to force them to use the business logic inherent in our custom jsp pages.
    Is there a way of using 'Edit In Place' without deploying Oracle Drive?
    Thanks
    Phil

    Hi Phil,
    You could build your own "edit-in-place" functionality with some custom programming, given that you are writing custom JSP pages.
    The Content DB Development Kit has a topic titled "Custom Web Applications" with an explanation on how to configure custom servlets.
    You could write a custom servlet that uses the Content DB API to update Documents and interact with your custom JSP/HTML page, which could provide an "edit-in-place" GUI.
    You could use a product such as Editize (http://www.editize.com) to provide the editing functionality.
    When the client-side editing is finished, the changes can be sent to your custom servlet, which would update the Document.
    If you build this solution, you may be able to offer it to other Content DB customers!

  • Installing Oracle RAC problem: Could not determine /tmp mount point

    Folks,
    Hello. I am installing Oracle 11gR2 RAC using 2 Virtual Machines (rac1 and rac2 whose OS are Oracle Linux 5.6) in VMPlayer and according to the tutorial
    http://appsdbaworkshop.blogspot.com/2011/10/11gr2-rac-on-linux-56-using-vmware.html
    I am installing Grid infrastructure. I am on step 7 of 10 (verify Grid installation enviroment) and get this error:
    "Free Space: Rac2: /tmp"
    Cause: Could not determine mount point for location specified.
    Action: Ensure location specified is available.
    Expected value: n/a
    Actual value: n/a
    I have checked the free space using the command:
    [root@Rac2 /]# df -k /tmp
    Output:
    Filesystem     1k-blocks     used     Available     Use%     Mounted on
    /dev/sda1     30470144     7826952     21070432     28%     /
    As you see above, the free space is enough, but could not determine mount point for /tmp.
    Do any folks understand how to determine the mount point for directory /tmp ?
    Thanks.

    Folks,
    Hello. I have found the file ./bash_profile under /home/ora11g/ and the file is invisible. However, I edit the file using the command:
    [ora11g@Rac2 ~]$ vi /home/ora11g/.bash_profile
    I add the 2 lines into the file as below:
    TMP=/tmp; export TMP
    TMPDIR=$TMP; export TMPDIR
    I save the file .bash_profile and reboot Oracle Linux 5.6 and check again on step 7 of 10 in the Installer, but the problem is still not solved.
    Can any folk help to solve the strange problem "could not determine mount point for /tmp" ?
    Thanks.

  • Oracle Drive Problem

    I am having a strange problem with Oracle Drive (v10.2.0.0.5 WinXP)
    I am connecting to Portal on AS10g R2 10.1.2 SEOne (SLES 9.3)
    http://myportal.com:7779/dav_portal/portal
    The installation went smoothly, and I can connect to the portal, login, and see the folders, but there are no files inside (I tried logging in both as a user with priviliges to manage content and as orcladmin).
    When trying to copy items to the folders, only the folders are copied, and not the files inside them. I get the following error for each file:
    There was a problem saving filename.pdf. Error 5, Access is denied.
    Subsequently, I can see the folders in the portal (with no files, of course). What is going on? Why is it saving the folders but not the files?
    Thanks,
    DC

    One more thing. I did find an FAQ doc for Oracle Drive, and it describes this error, but the suggested workaround did not fix it for me.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/cs/user_info/ocontent_services/drive_index.html#015010
    FAQ ID: 015010
    Updated: 2006-08-14
    Version: 10.1.1, 10.1.2, 10.2
    When viewing a list of files in a folder, a message says "There was a problem saving filename. Error 5, access denied."
    You may see this error message if you are viewing a list of files in a folder to which you only have read access. To prevent this error message from appearing, set your Windows Explorer windows to open in List view or Details view.

  • JDBC 2/Oracle driver problems

    Hello,
    I am trying to use use JDBC 2 features on an oracle 8 database. I was told that this was possible as long as i used the correct driver (Oracle 8.1.6). I have downloaded this driver, added it to the projects library's, changed JDevelopers IDE Classpath to point to "classes12.zip".
    However when i try to set up a simple connection to the database i get errors, but when i switch back to the old oracle driver (8.1.5) it works ok). Below is the code that i use to connect to the DB:
    try
    DriverManager.setLogWriter(errorOut);
    DriverManager.registerDriver (new
    oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    con = DriverManager.getConnection
    (url,"cdr","test");
    System.out.println("Coneecting to db using
    " + url);
    catch (Exception ex)
    The above code fails and produces the following errors/exceptions:
    DriverManager.initialize: jdbc.drivers = null
    JDBC DriverManager initialized
    registerDriver: driver[className=oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver,oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver@3779]
    registerDriver: driver[className=oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver,oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver@37b8]

    Hi,
    Sorry, I didn't look closely enough at your error stack. The problem appears to be with the Blob class. This class has moved from classes12.zip.
    In the Oracle JDBC Developer's Guide and Reference docs (8.1.6), there is a section on upgrading from JDK 1.1.x to JDK 1.2:
    Migration from JDK 1.1.x to JDK 1.2.x
    The only migration requirements in going from JDK 1.1.x to JDK 1.2.x are as follows:
    Remove your imports of the oracle.jdbc2 package, as discussed above under "Datatype Support".
    Replace any direct references to oracle.jdbc2.* interfaces with references to the standard java.sql.* interfaces.
    Type map objects (for mapping SQL structured objects to Java types), which must extend the java.util.Dictionary class under JDK 1.1.x, must
    implement the java.util.Map interface under JDK 1.2.x. Note, however, that the class java.util.Hashtable satisfies either requirement. If you used
    Hashtable objects for your type maps under JDK 1.1.x, then no change is necessary. For more information, see "Creating a Type Map Object and Defining
    Mappings for a SQLData Implementation".
    If these points do not apply to your code, then you do not need to make any code changes or recompile to run under JDK 1.2.x.

  • Installing a driver problem

    I'm trying to install the driver for my Zoom r-24 (recording software). I click the driver and the installer opens up, I select the Mac HD as the disk and it goes to instalation type window where it says 'Click install to install a standard installation of this software on the disk' but the install button is faded and it won't let me click it, only go back. What's wrong? Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    Please also check Event Viewer if it identify this problem.
    In addition, also check Device Manager, if similar driver already installed, try to uninstall them and reinstall new driver again for test.

  • Oracle driver problem

    Hello,
    I'm currently trying to install the Jive forum application on the WAS. The installation itself went very well, but I have a problem with the initial setup.
    At a certain point I have to give the DB driver class and the according connection string.
    I have a oracle DB installed for this and was using the following driver class:
    oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    As error jive setup gives me :
    Unable to load database driver 'oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver' - make sure it is in your appserver's classpath.
    I have deployed the classes12.jar as described in
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/80/4f34c587f05048adee640f4c346417/frameset.htm
    This also did not solve my problem.
    Does somebody has some experience  with this?
    Thanks a lot!
    Regards,

    Hi,
    how likely is it that your DB connect code produces the problem ? Did you try this question on the database forum ?

  • Installed Nvidia Driver Problems?

    I recently installed Nvidia Ge-Force 5200FX Driver onto my computer and it changes my video bit from 16-Bit to 4-Bit and i cant change back anyone know how i can change it back without uninstalling the driver.

    There is one thing you do not seem to have understood so far:  This forum is not a general hardware forum but offers help and advice for MSI Retail products only.  You were using an MSI MS-6590 KT6 Delta mainboard in your other thread.  That is the only reason why we replied to your questions about an unknown video card model in the first place (even though the lack of a video driver for an unknow card has not much to do with your mainboard.
    Now you are asking us about some NVIDIA driver issue regarding the "same type of [non-MSI] graphics card" but in a "different computer".  You provided no useful information about your system configuration whatsoever (no information about your operating system, no information about the exact driver version, no information about why you installed an NVIDIA driver even though the unknow video card seems to be an old ATI model, etc.)  I see nothing that relates to any MSI Retail product in the context of your driver question.  I am locking this topic.
    If you find one reason why I should re-open your topic and not advise you to look for help in a general hardware forum (there are tons of those out there on the net) write me a PM and tell me what this has to do with MSI Retail products.  I will than gladly unlock this thread.  Until then:

  • URGENT! Oracle driver problem.

    Hi all,
    i have an urgent question:
    I have a program that generates SQL code automatically where each data element is included in single quotes, equal if it's an integer, date or string value. If I try to insert this SQL code into an Oracle database using the thin-driver I get an error:
    ORA-01858: a non-numeric character was found where a numeric was expected
    But if I insert the same SQL code manually by copy and paste, it works fine.
    Is there any problem with the Oracle thin-Driver you know?
    Thanks for your help.
    Marko

    I cannot post the original SQL string, I'm sorry. But it looks like this:
    INSERT INTO tab_name (Col_1,Col_2,COl_3...) VALUES ('Val_1','Val_2','...')
    where Col_i are the column names and Val_i are the data values which are sometimes strings and mostly integers.
    The code that creates this string is as follows:
         //Bereite den nchsten Datensatz vor
         public int NextRecordset(){
              iIndex=0;
              try{
                   do{

                        iIndex++;
                   while (!(sReadLine.equalsIgnoreCase("<patient>")));
                   sfFile[iIndex-1]="<patient done=1>";
                   sReadLine=sfFile[iIndex];
                   while (!(sReadLine.equalsIgnoreCase("</patient>"))){
                        //suche nach dem Anfang des Spaltennamens (in Tags eingeschlossen),
                        int iStartIndex=sReadLine.indexOf("<")+1;
                        //suche nach dem Ende des Spaltennamens
                        int iEndIndex=sReadLine.indexOf(">");
                        //und kopiere ihn in das Spaltennamen-array.
                        sfHeaders[iCounter]=sReadLine.substring(iStartIndex,iEndIndex);
                        //Das dazugehrige Datum beginnt unmittelbar dahinter
                        iStartIndex=iEndIndex+1;

              return (sSQLString);
    where sfHeaders is a string array containing the column names and sfValues is also a string array containing the values.
    The parameter 'SQL' has the value "INSERT INTO tab_name".
    sfFile is a string array that contains the image of an XML-file.
    sREadLine is just a string.
    If you see a relevant error, please post it. I don't see one.

  • Win 7 install disk driver problem on Satellite L40-18E

    Hi' to get to the point im trying to install windows 7 on a Satellite L40-18E and when i boot from cd it says i didnt safely remove storage device.
    When i start up Vista as normal and try install from my computer it says i do not have the hard disk drives. am so confused please help:-)

    Hi again
    sorry i wrote that message last night when i was tired and realise it its just a poor description of my problem to say the least.
    Basicaly the laptop L40 i have bought is from a friend who copied all the stuff he wanted to keep to his new laptop and just gave me it with his programs and music on it. It has two partitions on it and windows vista os that i personaly think is a load of rubbish. All i realy want to do is set it back to factory setting and have one main partition instead of 2 small one's then load a fresh install of win 7 (no upgrade). It is a new windows 7 disk that fell of the shelf at work (cough) but is 100% never been used brand new. My computer know how is as good as my grammer (which is poor). i have changed bios to boot from dvd and pressed any key to boot it first load bar goes fine then second stops at 1/3 and a message about me not unplugging a storage device pops up and tells me i can go no further.
    So i tried to boot it from the vista desk top in my computer went well at first then message poped up about correct hard disk drivers not installed from there the confussion started.
    If u could dumb down or give me a description of were to find the info u need im more than happy to do it just not confident with pc's let alone vista

  • Oracle Driver Error.

    hi all
    i have deploy ojdbc14.jar in VS to connect to an a oracle DB.
    the parametes im using in CC next:
    JDBC Driver: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    Connection: jdbc:oracle:thin:@subuedwd:1521:ddwh
    User: xxx
    pass: xxx
    now. this jar is been used in PE and other legacy system to connect to oracle db but in PI im getting this error:
    Error during database connection to the database URL 'jdbc:oracle:thin:@subuedwd:1521:ddwh' using the JDBC driver 'oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver': 'com.sap.aii.adapter.jdbc.sql.DriverManagerException: Cannot establish connection to URL 'jdbc:oracle:thin:@subuedwd:1521:ddwh': ClassNotFoundException: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver'
    in a legacy system checked the conectivity with ddwh db and there no problems, an SQL query was executed perfect.
    in PI server cheked if the deploy was made right, so i go to /usr/sap/XD0/DVEBMGS01/j2ee/cluster/server0/bin/ext to verify if folder  oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver with the ojdbc14.jar was there and it was.
    the server was restarted discard possible errors but nothing change.
    any idea?

    I have installed Oracle drive on my desktop and using that I am able to access my content server.

I want to explore these features.On clicking this I am getting a message "Advanced Properties is not supported by this server" what is to be done on my server to support the advanced features.

    Please note the currently Oracle Drive is supported only with Oracle Content Services server. So it cannot be used with a generic WebDAV server.
