P6 Pro R8.3 Bad public user name or password. Cannot find OCI DLL: oci.dll;

Here we go again... new release, new round of unsuccessful connections.
P6 Pro 8.3 attempting to connect to Oracle PMDB or EPPM schema.
I have a great installation of P6 8.3 EPPM Web up and running with BI 11.1.1.6.0 /P6 Analytics 3.1 /Unifier
Things I have tried:
- Clean build to new local database on 32bit (Windows 7 Pro) platform with Oracle 10g XE
- Upgrade local db from a working 8.2 installation to 8.3 32bit with Oracle 10g XE
- TNS to working EPPM 8.3 database with P6 Pro client installed on VM - tested successful with 8.2, fails with 8.3
- Clean P6 Client install to desktop of Win2008R2 (64bit) Application server connecting to existing functional Oracle 11g EPPM
- Use of admin.cmd and dbconfig.cmd (~\P6 Professional\Pro\Java directory) to configure/manage connection is successful
- Only one JAVA_HOME - correctly set to the version that installs during P6 8.3 install process
- both 32bit and 64bit JRE - same results
- Correctly edited/tested tnsnames on the client and listner on the server. (Confirmed by EPPM Web functional)
- I can tnsping both a local instance and network db instances
- using pubuser to connect
- pubuser exists and can login via SQL Developer
- upgrade from known good 8.2 to 8.3 db breaks the connection and leaves you with NOTHING TO WORK WITH
- .Net and DHTML installed and correctly configured.
Please answer if you can, Oracle Support seems to be down at the moment.

Some progress... Oracle support is now accessible.
Oracle Support Document 913053.1 helped me address part of the problem. By adding another Path variable as described in the support document, I was finally able to connect to the EPPM and local XE databases using a client PC (Win7 Pro 32bit). The Path variable existed, but with a minor difference - the word BIN was not capitalized. The variable value of [C:\app\product\11.2.0\client_1\BIN] was able to connect successfully. The value [C:\app\product\11.2.0\client_1\bin] was unsuccessful. I am able to repeat this problem.
In my case, it seems that with P6 Pro 8.3, the Path Variable might now have become case sensitive. The steps to perform this funky "secret handshake" are both incompletely discussed and cryptic in the P6 Admin Guide, where it talks about the Oracle 11g Instant Client. The Oracle 11g Instant Client is NOT INCLUDED in the P6 Media Kit. (what a surprise)
I have yet to find why the P6 Pro 8.3 will not connect from the desktop of the server (as 8.2 did) using the 32bit client software. This is most unsettling, because many of my clients use a terminal server installation of the client, which obviously will have this problem.

I tried by all means to resolve the issue, but still i am not able to configure P6 professional to my existing database.
I am always getting error " *Bad public user name or password. ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified*".
I am able to connect to database using pubuser or privuser via CMD.
I also tried through Net Configuration Assistance but no success.
Plz help me in this issue.

    resolved

  • Configuring a database and get an error:  Bad public user name or password.  Missing database property.

I have had the bad user name or password other times and resolved it.  I looked up Missing database property in Oracle's knowledgebase.  The closest response I found to my question said they didn't really know what causes this error.  New installation of Primavera version 7 on user machine.  I have done numerous database configurations setups with no issues.
Has anybody ever encountered Missing database property?

Please check your oracle client version is correct.
Also try with re-installing oracle client.

  • Bad public user name

    Hi,
I installed P621 on windows 7 and database 10g lite. When Itry to make configuration I get the following "Bad public user name or password. Database Server Error: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified" altough I connect at command line with admuser, privuser, pubuser.
    Can someone help me?
    Thank you

I have the similar problem. But mine is 6.70 client.
I think the problem is that Primavera client cannot the tns file of other oracle softeware installed in the client PC. And the problem for me is I have no idea how Primavera Client read the tns file and I could not find any clues from Primavera client home and the windows' registrats.
Primavera client uses DBXPRESS? how is the db connection configured in DBXPRESS?

    Hi Ychinnari,
I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, as
Vaishu00547 mentioned that the issue can be caused by the Execution Account you have configured in the Reporting Services Configuration Manager is not correct, Please update the Username and Password and restart the reporting services.
Please also find more details information about when to use the execution account, if possible, please also not specify this account:
This account is used under special circumstances when other sources of credentials are not available:
When the report server connects to a data source that does not require credentials. Examples of data sources that might not require credentials include XML documents and some client-side database applications.
When the report server connects to another server to retrieve external image files or other resources that are referenced in a report.
    Execution Account (SSRS Native Mode)
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

Re: Macbook Pro 10.6.8 RAM Upgarde to 8 GB
The amount of RAM is not dependant on the operating system. It is all about the model of you Mac.
10.6.8 is the version of OS X that is installed on your system. It has no real baring on the amount of RAM that CAN be installed.
Personally I have never had good luck with Corsair RAM. I have always had good luck with Crucial and Kingston.

  • New MacBook Pro - user name and password question

Okay, I am fired up. I just opened my brand new MacBook Pro 15.4". I purchased it from MacMall and had them install Parallels (I use one program that is Windows only) and Office:mac 2008 Special Media Edition.
Since MacMall installed Office and Parallels (and then Windows XP Pro) they initially set up the user name and password for my MacBook Pro. The user name is simply "user" and there is no password. How can I go back and reset the user name and password at the system level?
BTW, this is my first Mac in 15 years! My firm uses all Windows based machines . . . except me now!

It is possible to either change the account's name, or create a new account. The first (changing the username), does NOT fully change the name. A version of your name (called the short name) remains unchanged.
Therefore, I recommend creating a NEW account. The procedure...
    1) In the Apple menu, select "System Preferences".
    2) Click "Accounts"
    3) If locked, click the lock (lower-left corner) and login (guarantees you are the authorized person).
    4) Click "+" to create a new account.
    5) Assuming you want to be the administrator of your computer, setup the NEW ACCOUNT as "Administrator".
    6) Enter your desired username.
    7) Enter your desired shortname (can be the same, but no spaces and all lowercase).
    8) Enter your desired password.
    9) Click "Create Account".
However, the computer is still configured to automatically login the user "user" at startup. You can change this at the "Accounts" pane of "System Preferences" as well. Proceed...
    10) Click "Login Option"
    11) Change AUTOMATIC LOGIN to either "Disabled" or your new username (your choice).

  • Oracle Messenger Console"Bad user name or password, Please renter your use"

    Hi,
I faced with problem with Oracle Messenger Console. I can not connect to
    my Portal Server (RTC Serevrice).
I have installed Oracle Messenger to my Windows Operating System
and It should communicate with My Oracle Collaboration Suite 10g Installed in Linux Os
    But I receive following Error:
Sign in failure. "Bad user name or password, Please renter your user name or password"
I should mention that I enter my user name as following format:
    <username>@<domain>
    also
I have run rtcctl getproperties command to ensure information about my domain.
Any comment and help will be appreciated in advance.

FYI: This topic is in the wrong category, should be under "Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management". See if there is a way to move it and you may get more exposure.
I re-read your question and it is unclear to me what DB platform you are attempting to run on. Is this Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle. Also, please specify the version.
    If Oracle:
-Are you able to TNSPING your Oracle XE instance?
-If you can TNSPING it, try connecting from the command prompt via SQLPLUS:
    sqlplus admprm$pm/password@XE
Also worth noting, P6r8 admin functions have been moved out of the desktop client and into the Web so you will be limited in what you can demo without installing the web component.

  • TS3276 email was hacked, can open email on yahoo (after changing passwords) but cannot open mail on my computer, cannot even access mail because it will not accept my user name or password and I am unable to reset my account

email was hijacked and spam/virus link sent out to all of my contacts on wed at 4:21AM..... with the Subject as Rep: My Name or My email address and a link to a web page discussing making money working at home.  Could not get into any of my mail, on the web or on Mail on my mac.  After a phone call to automated support through Yahoo through ATT, I was given a temporary password and was able to reset my Yahoo password and get email on the internet.  I still cannot open my Mail Account on either my iMac or MacBook Pro.  I cannot get into Mail, period.  My sign in keeps popping up and it keeps telling me that my user name or password is incorrect.  I tried my old password, the temporary password and the new password.  Nothing is working,  I cannot receive or send anything in Mail.  Mail is Frozen.  If I want my email, I must go to the web and sign into Yahoo Mail.
    Help!

When you were entering your new password in mac mail for your Yahoo account, you didn't perchance change the user name from [email protected] to just name without the @att.net? I only ask because I've done that, and att.yahoo mail requires a fully qualified [email protected] for access.
In mail, you might click on window on the menu bar, then connection doctor. On the account with the red dot next to it, it will tell you why it can't connect, and if you click on it, you'll be taken to where you can fix it.

  • I need to know if there is a user name and password associated with accessing a certain website.

I'm not sure if at one time there was a username and password given so that I automatically could access a site. The site is the home page for my department on the intranet of the company I work for, and they've activated a new vpn. If I use Safari, after activating the vpn opening Safari, it asks me for a user name and password for some proxy server and from there on out I can navegate the external web or the company intranet. Using Firefox, I do not get prompted for a user name and password but I cannot access my homepage yahoo.com or any public website; I can, however access my company's intranet. The IT guy says there must be some user name & pw to access the site that I've previously asked Firefox to memorize but which I can't see. I don't think so but I can't figure out where to find the list of sites that Firefox has memorized passwords for.

You ca n look in the Password Manager.
*Firefox > Preferences > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

  • Tiger to Leopard transition- user name and password not working. plz help!

Hi all. Last year I purchased a MacBook Pro with Tiger OSX. Anyways I wanted to switch to leopard, so I did. Now when I want to install updates, as usual it requires my user name and password. But after I installed leopard, my old user name and password does not work (my login name does not even show up in the box anymore). I can not install any new software on my computer because of this so called "new password." Any assistance would be greatly appreciated because this is very frustrating since I just purchased an iPhone and I can't sync it because I need the new version of itunes.

can you log in at all as another user? if not activate root and log in as root using [these instructions|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1278]. then look in the /Users folder at the top level of the hard drive. do you see the home directory with your old username there? post back with what you find.

  • User Name and Password for JCO RFC call to BAPI

    Hi all,
    What I think I know:
--We do NOT have Single Sign On configured so don't tell me to use SSO please - I agree, but...
--We have a requirement to do a goods receipt which prints labels for the handling units
.....The printer to which the labels are directed depends on the user who is running the transaction
    What I think this means
--We will need to specify a user name and password in the RFC call so the label will go to the correct printer
--I cannot use the IllumnLoginPassword (or whatever its name is) for the password
--I need to prompt the user for their password a second time after they login to our MII app
    The problem
--I will need to store the password somewhere for the duration of the session
......In session variable that has been encryted
.............I didn't see an encryption action block so I could create my own
......In the database using database column encryption
.............A little bit of a pain, but not too bad
Any corrections, alternatives, ideas .... ???
    Thanks,
    --Amy Smith
    --Haworth

Thanks for the attention guys.  A little clarification.
    1.  I have been assuming that I cannot use the IllumnLoginPassword for the JCO SAP password in the action block.  If this is NOT true, then it solves my whole problem.
    2.  It would not work to prompt a shop floor person for their password every time they do an operation completion.  Well, at least
if I don't want to not get lynched!
    3.  I am planning on prompting people every time they log on for their ECC password and retaining it somewhere secure while they are logged on (and longer if they skip the logoff step.)
    4.  I have been focusing on how/where to retain the password, but also need a way to encrypt it during transmission.  Jeremy said the applet/BLS would at least encode it for me.  That is good.
