I Will restart pc but not run bios. I must recovery bios. Help immediately pls thanks :(

Hi,

  • Problem P67A-C45

i've had this motherboard for a month now but i've been away for a few weeks, and now the motherboard is 'dead'
I cant figgure out if it is the motherboard or the cpu that has crapped out
    Tested:
    - Powersupply - Working
    - Graphicscard - Working
    - RAM -> untested
    - CPU -> untested
So i figgured that perhaps i should ask people with more experience.
When i boot i get 2 High Hz beeps and another that is slightly higher after that i get 5 deeper beeps
Is there a new Beep Error code for UEFI motherboards?
And is the motherboard completely dead?

  • Intel SVID Mode Hang - Bios 1.8 - MSI-P67A-C45

Hi, this is a follow up on my previous question - Intel Sandy Bridge i5 2400 Vcore Range - https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=145829.0
"Hi, want to check with you guys what is your i5 2400 Vcore range ? (As reported by CPUZ 1.56)
Mine keep stagnant at 1.19-1.21v between idle and load. I just know that idle vcore should be around 0.9v.
Is this normal ? My CPU frequency did downclock to 1600Mhz (100Mhz x 16) but vcore remained 1.19v.
    My setting are :
    Mobo - MSI P67A-C45 (Bios version 1.7)
GreenPowerMode - APS / Intel SVID (No effect)
CPU Setting - EIST enabled, CPU vcore auto, Spread spectrum on, Vdroop control high. CIE support on, Intel C state on, Power technology Custom/Energy efficient (No effect), Intel Turbo Disable
    All other setting on auto
Despite any setting I tweak and even optimised default, the vcore remained 1.19v although clock downed to 1600mhz. Any idea ? TQ !"
After I update to the latest bios 1.8 and set the GreenPowerMode to Intel SVID mode, the vcore now dropped to 0.8-0.9v which is nice
However, it will hang after some time in the window desktop every time. Meanwhile, if i set the GreenPowerMode to APS mode it was stable
But vcore remained at around 1.16v as above situation. Anybody experience hang on Intel SVID mode ?

    Hello again folks
I Have a P67A-C45 board with an Intel i5 [email protected] and 8Ghz DDR3@1600 of memory
I just want to know what are the best setiings to my system. I'm planning to make an overclock, but i don't know much about these.
My ram are at 1333 MHz. What's the problem????

My ram are at 1333 MHz. What's the problem?
Your CPU only natively supports up to 1333mhz memory. Your memory sticks, although rated to run up to DDR3-1600 speed, are only natively DDR3-1333.
Hence, if you have not applied any overclocks, and are running at default settings, the BIOS is reading the default native SPD setting for your memory, which will be DDR3-1333 settings. So no, there is no problem really. In order to run your sticks at their rated setting, you will need to overclock.
But, you might want to have a read of this:

If you have more questions about overclocking, then please ask them in the correct area of this forum (the Overclockers area), after first reading the >>Posting Guide<<

  • P67A-C45 doesn't effectively change the vcore on bios

Well another bug found on the P67A-C45 bios 1.5
you can try to change the vcore, the bios says that it has changed, then you reboot, come back and the actual vcore still always on 1.208. You load windows, get to command centre and you get 1.2v
Really frustrating to encouter so many basic problems with this board...

Quote from: Mike on 23-January-11, 23:13:35
Good that 1.7 seems to resolve the issue.
it improved oc as well, some new features added to fine tune. 1.7 is way better than 1.5 for oc.

  • MSI P67A-C45 with 4x4Gb Corsair Vengeance = random freezes in bios

Ok here is the problem i hope you guys can help me with. I recently bought the following rig:
    - MSI P67A-C45 Motherboard
    - 4x4Gb Corsair Vengeance memory.
    - MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC
    - Core i7 2600K
I am having the following issues:
Whenever i put in all the memory, the PC won't boot, it hangs even in the BIOS (at random pages). Everything seems to run fine (except for a minor detail which i will mention later) with 12 Gb installed (3 dimms that is). I have tried changing the voltage to 1.65v but this doesn't change anything. With 12 Gb (or even only 4Gb) installed there is only one weird thing happening:
Whenever the pc wakes from hibernation i get the following error:
“Your system's firmware did not preserve the system memory map across the hibernation transition. If you proceed with resume, your system could behave in an unexpected manner after resume completes. It is recommended that you save all your data and reboot after system resume finishes. Kindly check for a firmware update with your system vender as it may fix this problem."
Then after clicking resume it says i can't resume from the saved state and that it will be discarded (effectively doing a clean boot of the OS).
Can these two problems be related, and if so, is it a hardware problem or some BIOS settings i can try?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Have you tested your mem sticks individually with memtest ? There is always a chance of a defective module.
    2. Test the mem at 1333. Insert only 2, set it to 1333 manually in the BIOS, save and switch off.  Add all modules and see if it boots.
    3. You may also want to reseat your CPU, whilst it's out, check the CPU contact pads for indentations and see if there are any pins on the socket that are bent.
    1. I have tested with 1 mem stick, then with 2, then 3 and then 4 (memtest from bios seems to be the only thing not crashing with 4 mem sticks). So i have not tested everything individually, but in my opinion this should be thorough enough.
    2. I have done this exact thing but then with 3 mem sticks, only adding the last one when switched off, then turning it back on again. I will try with the two so in dual channel, this might make a bit of a difference.
    3. I have reseated the CPU once, it is not a fun thing with the Big Shuriken cooler i have , i'll try this as a last resort.

  • P67a-C45 powers on for a few seconds then turns off

got a core i7 2600 with this board, my problem is when i power on, the 4 blue leds on the mobo turns on, cpu fan spins up and 5 seconds later it goes off again and then turns on again and keeps repeating - no beep codes - mounted the mobo on a board to minimize potential shorting but same problem - switched power supplies and still the same - any ideas

Always best for initial first time startup, to do it with just one RAM stick in the primary blue dimm slot. A couple thoughts, first is use just the one RAM stick & load the OS & all the drivers, then add the other sticks. The other thought is to try each RAM stick individually in the primary slot to rule out a bad or failing stick.

  • P67A-C45 problems - startup, closure freez; no clear reason

    Hello
I would like to ask you for help with identifying problem which most certainly concerns my motherboard, until proven not guilty
What is the problem: since about 1 month I was facing a problem with system startup - it usually hung up after typing in password on logon screen. It would freez randomly on "Welcome!" screen or desktop loading only black screen and cursor with no response to keyboard keys. System loaded in safemode with no problem. Sometimes, also randomly, it would also start up in normal mode after few hard restarts or restart from safe mode. After some community forums research the first suspect was the graphic card. Reinstalling the drivers, some test and a little chat with tech service however made me thinking it is the wrong direction. Gigabyte TS [they are my GPU makers] pointed at motherboard as a very probable cause if there is everything right with system and software.
Despite failing to find the reason form software side I have backed up my data, zeroed the HDD and repartitioned it [with Pared Magic], than installed system again [Win 7 HP - full PC specification at the end of the post]. I have also performed RAM tests with Memtest which came up positive - no errors after 10 cycles. Also checked HDD itself with Saget tool if there is something wrong with it - everything came up to be in order.
After the system re-installation [without any updates and programs] everything loaded well however I had another mystery - while waiting for reboot the system hang up on closure! Keyboard went off-line [lights turned down] and on the screen I just saw freezed "Shutting down..." . After hard restart system loaded correctly. I've installed updates via MSI Live Update 5, all necessary drivers and programs and rebooted the system. Freezed at shutting down again and another curious thing - after hard restart i saw a black screen with a "9C" code at the bottom right corner of my screen [everything lunched usually after "A3" code appeared there]. Few hard restarts - the same. Consternation. Hard shutdown. After few minutes I've hit the power button again and it magically started. I am very fascinated with this problem and I would like one more time ask you for your ideas on this issue. I am not too hasty to hand my pc for service as I don't swim in money so if i can resolve it at home with your help I would be delighted to do so

You could also say: "oh yes, of course I'm mixing ram. In fact I mixed two dual channel kits. I have no idea if that works as I'm stressing the dual channel controller to the max with four sticks and do not even use a matched kit"
Sorry but Goodram does not make memory for Corsair, Patriot or Kingston. It amybe is a local ram maker but surely no manufaturer of high quality sticks.
Well as mentioned in the first post I am not a professional and I can be mistaken however as I said later depending on info from diagnostic tools and fact that the issue occured long after RAM installation and fact that stick removal has no diagnostic value as pc is able to randomly start up and shut down properly I still ask for other probable solution.
Moreover flobelix you need to understand that GoodRAM is a label of certified, biggest producer in middle and eastern Europe and a strategic partner of Toshiba and Samsung. If you are such a label orientated person that you consider. f.e. Corsair Kingstone or Patriot as only high quality producers (and they makeing their sticks in China or India ) just becouse the label than I would kindly ask you to abandon this thread becouse I have no goal in haveing an argument about ram producers and it gives no usefull feedback consideing probelm I have asked to help me deal with. Best wishes though and no offence .

  • STOP 0x0000007B Blue Screen Error after updating drivers for my P67A-C45

    Hi!
I recently updated the drivers for my mainboard MSI P67A-C45. I did this with the update utility that follows this product. I choose the "update all" function so I'm not really sure what was actually updated but I remember seeing the bios and my realtek network drivers in the list of stuff being updated. Anyway, during (what I think was) the update of my BIOS (a CMD window appeared and started executing tasks) my computer suddenly restarts. I wasn't really paying attention during this process but it seemed like it wasn't finished and that the restart was unintentional.
Now during boot I get a Blue Screen message at the "Starting Windows" logo. The Blue Screen flashes by and my computer restarts instantly. It's a STOP 0x0000007B message which probably has to do with the drivers I just tried to update.
I have Windows 7 64-bit and I have tried the startup repair and the system restore function without any success.
    Any ideas?
Can I revert these updates or maybe install the original drivers without formatting my hdd? I have the original CD that came with the board.
    Best Regards
    Victor

AHCI is a mode setting for the SATA controllers. You will find it in Integrated Peripherals. If you haven't set it to AHCI, it normally defaults to IDE mode. X79 platform being the exception. Yes. Remove LU5 & download & install all driver updates & such manually.
If your UEFI/BIOS did get flashed by LU5, I would recommend to remove the power cord from the PSU, remove the battery for awhile, clear CMOS, reset all the settings, especially check in the OC Section, CPU Features. Check to make sure there are no '0's showing. I don't know what your CPU is, so I don't know what to tell you to set the Core Ratio limit for each core if they are in fact sitting on 0. Disable Spread Spectrum & EuP 2013.

  • How to trigger the BIOS CRISIS Recovery mode for Thinkpad T61.

For any other laptop, there's a possibility to run a BIOS crisis recovery, by holding Win-B or Fn-B and a few other conditions, one can make the laptop to boot up from a USB floppy drive and restore BIOS even if it's not working. But it seems that it doesn't work for ThinkPads, or I don't know to trigger the mode.
    Thank you in advance.

Your post was very helpful. It did the trick. The photos of the screens and etc. helped.
I am using a Toshiba laptop that came with Winddows 8.1 (64bit), which allegedly supports UEFI boot.
Initially, the boot failed and after trying different settings I recalled a statement that not all USBs work the same and results may vary. I tried another USB and your selections worke perfect.
I did not revert the BIOS settings and the machine boots properly to the normal login.
My need for a bootable USB is to boot the laptop if the hard drive fails. This allows to either re-image it or replace the hard drive and for re-image it. The key is the bootable media.
    Thanks for your effort..!
