P67A-C45 (B3) impossible to boot after BIOS

Hi !
I've just assembled my new config and I experience some boot problems:
MSI P67-C45 (B3)
Intel I5 2400S
GSkill 2x4Go Ripjaws
HIS Radeon 6670
Seasonic XSeries Fanless 400W
After assembling, I powered it on for the first time, reached the BIOS succesfully then tried to install an OS from CD and it is impossible to boot it. I tried from several CDs ans USB key without success. From the F11 boot menu, I tried to choose the CD/DVD or the key, without success. Each time the power turned off and the PC rebooted. Everything component seems well detected in the BIOS, CPU is listed, SATA components too...
I checked everything without success... There is one thing that I don't know about is the active phase switching leds. In the MB manual, there are 2 situations listed: OOOX and OOOO but I get another situation as soon as the power is on. The first led is goes on instantly and then the third and fourth so I have the configuration OXOO. I searched the MSI site and the Internet but didn't find if this is a sign of troubleshooting.
Thanks for your help !
Grim

On all my mainboards in the 6 series, all the LEDs are lit when in the UEFI/BIOS. This could possibly indicate pin/CPU contact problems in the CPU socket, but not positive of that.
Thx, that's exactly what I was thinking in the first place. One more question, in that case, would it be possible that the BIOS is working just fine with CPU detected ? Because I have no problem in the BIOS, the CPU is well detected, I just can't boot after it... In one hand, BIOS makes me think CPU is OK, in the other hand, the leds make me think something's wrong...

  • P67A GD65 new beep on boot after bios upgrade [error sound]

    Hello,
I've just updated my bios (from 1.7 to 1.E) and I have now an additional beep at the start of the machine.
I was used to have 4 beeps at the same tone, then another one after a pause with a higher tone. But now i have a beep at the beggining with a lower tone, which really sounds like a problem.
I updated the bios this way :
    Downloading this zip http://www.msi.com/service/download/bios-17245.html
Unzipping and copying to usb key
Entering UEFI then Setting>M-Flash>Select one file to update bios, selection of the 1.E0 file.
Do i need to do something else ?
I've also tried to use LiveUpdate5, it updates to 1.D0, but same problem.

Yes, I have the same beeps. The middle beeps should be from how many USB devices the BIOS detected connected to your computer. Again this is normal. If you want to know exactly what each beep in the sequence means, contact MSI tech support and they should be able to tell you. I have also not been able to find any documentation as to what the beeps sequence actually stand for except for the middle beeps being USB devices connected. I really would not worry too much about it if your computer is booting correctly and loading into your OS. If that is the case, there is nothing wrong.

  • P67A-C45 (B3) randomly not booting

    Hi, the problem is:
When booting (both cold start and restart) my mobo randomly decides to boot properly or not to boot. I do not change any settings/hardware and it still occurs randomly.
There are 4 scenarios that happen when I try to boot or reboot:
    1. Correct boot
    2. B4 at the right bottom of the screen, boots successfully after several seconds.
    3. 98 at the right bottom of the screen, lasts forever.
    4. Nothing on the screen
Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 reboots to get to OS successfully.
What I tried: restoring default settings, updating BIOS, removing all USB devices.
The system is perfectly stable (stress tested) when it manages to boot so I doubt it's PSU fault.
    My hardware:
    P67A-C45 (B3)
    i5-2500K
    ASUS 6950 1GB DirectCu
    2x4 GB Corsair XMS3 1600MHz
    OCZ StealthXStream 600W.
Help me guys, because I feel like playing a roulette when trying to turn my computer on.

If not done so yet, disable EuP 2013. Try NovJoe's suggestion of using the one RAM stick in the primary blue dimm slot for testing. It may be good to test the 'each' stick individually in the primary slot. The latest beta BIOS can be found in Jack's thread, Reply #22; https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=145403.0

The PSU is an inexpensive quad rail +12V, which can be part of the problem. A Corsair, like a TX650, single rail +12V (or other quality single rail) would be a much better choice to power the system. Please provide a screenshot of the CPUID's CPU-Z Memory & SPD tab. A hosting service like Photobucket is a good one.
In regards to Reply #2, the first step is to get the system running stable in a stock/auto/default manner before venturing off into OC'ing & enabling OC Genie, etc.

cranked my 1.5 Snipers to 1.7 (again way to high, especially for stock 1866 sticks)....
1866 is far from stock, 'rated' maybe, but not stock for the OP's platform. Doubtful they have true 1866 chips on them. RAM should be run at the Intel specifications for the Sandy Bridge CPU IMC of DDR3 1333, anything over that is out of specifications & is overclocking. There is a special section of the forum for those wanting to operate components outside of the stock/auto/default specifications.

  • NEO4 Plat Sli SIL3231 Raid problem - Can't boot after BIOS Flash!

Hi, I have and Neo4 Platinum SLI. I had "the problem" a while back with the nVida raid where there was a hang on shutdown. I then created a RAID0 using my two Rators on the SIL3132 controller, and have three hitachi drives hooked up to SATA1 - SATA3. Back then, I had trouble getting my SIL3132 array to be the main boot volume. I could boot when no other drives were attached, but as soon as I attached them, I get the boot disk error after post. Somehow I got it to work, but not think this time, I flashed the BIOS and ran into the same problems, as the BIOS got reset.
First, I went in and re-enabled RAID on the sil3132 controller, and change the boot order to have the RAID voluime be the first boot device, and my other drivers be the next on down the line. Upon rebooting, my system hangs after verifying DMI pool at a blanksscreen for 5 - 10 minutes then gives my the "missing HAL.dll error". if I go back into the BIOS and disable SATA1/SATA2 and SATA3/SATA4 my computer boots just fine. I even completley disconnected my three drives an my system boots just fine. I have searched these forums and could not find anything close to my issue and wondered if it is something I am just missing in the setup. I will say that at POST my IDE devices has always read:
    IDE Primary Master [None]
    IDE Secondary Master [None]
IDE Primary Slave (my first DVD/R drive)
IDE Secondary Slave (My second DVD/R drive)
IDE Third Master (a 250gb drive)
IDE Fourth Master (a 250gb drive)
IDE Fifth Master (a 250gb drive)
    IDE Sixth Master [None]
Is this normal? all my hard drives are SATA. the raptors and three SATAII drives.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Since the Nvida raid problem seems to have been fixed (as far as I read) I would like to go back to using the nVidia raid controller. I just need to back up my system first!
    Thanks in advance.

    Jkmet,
I have noted the same problem, with a USB Pen drive.
If I leave it plugged in and shut down, the next time I cold boot it tries to boot for the pen drive.  What I found out the any time you add a drive before booting the BIOS places it at the top of the Hard Drive Priority list making it the boot drive.  Same thing happens when I plug in a new SATA and does not mater where it is connected.  So, what I have to do any time you add a drive with the power off you have to boot to BIOS reset the Hard drive priority list, then save, exit and reboot to boot from you windows drive.
I am sure this is a BIOS Bug, but MSI states that the way it should would work.
    Roger

  • Help Please - X200 will not boot after Bios Upgrade - keeps asking for power on password

    Hi there,
I am new to this forum and please let me say a big Thank You for your help in advance.
I am using a lenovo thinkpad x200 running windows vista with service pack 1.
The laptop has always been running fine and has never given me any issues. Unfortunately, all this came to an end yesterday when I ran the system assistant which did a round of updates and it prompted me to reflash my bios.
I did what was instructed and closed all open applications and after the laptop restarted, there was a noise from the harddisk (the sound was basically like what happens if the harddisk suddenly loses power). Then, all i got was a black screen, no harddisk acitvity with only the power cable LED and another LED (with the shape of a N tiled at 20 degrees) on.
I searched the forum and did what was suggested in this entry: http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Blank-screen-after-Bios-Upgrade-on-X200/ta-p/29...
This is what I did so far"
I turned off the power, took out the backup battery and waited for about 30 minutes (repeated this step several times, also removing the harddisk) but to no avail.
I removed the RAM and tried booting and there was that characteristic beeping sound.
I replaced the RAM, redid the CMOS clearing, and now there is the Lenovo startup screen. However, there would be an error code 0271 (no date time) and 0251 (something about default configuration). Then, these disappear and all I am left with is the Bios Power On password prompt. Somehow no matter what I type nothing can be input into the field (and I did not create any password as far as I can remember).
I redid the clearing for the power on password by removing the backup battery as suggested at the bottom of this page http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=migr-59377   but it is no use. Each time I restart, even if I press the blue Think Vantage button or F1 or F11, I still get the same 0271 and 0251 error messages and am left with the power on password prompt.
I am really desperate as I really like my lenovo x200 and there is important data on the laptop. I would appreciate any suggestions on how I can solve this. Its amazing how a simple update can turn into such a disaster. Now i know i should never upgrade or update my Bios (or at least proceed with extreme caution).
Anyone can provide some help to get my laptop workin again?
    Thank you very much,
    Mark

  • Help - No Boot after bios flash - p7N SLI Plat.

OK - I have a new P7NSLI Plat that I updated the bios to A738NMS.120.
I however did this using a floppy ie ran the amifud from the floppy and the bios file was on the floppy (this is how I usually do BIOS updates) .. It was only after this and the fact the computer now does nothing after the reboot I found the bit that says do not update from a floppy.
So basically I have a machine that doesnt do anything - you push the power switch and the fans light up and the leds go on but nothing else - no beeps from the graphics card and no POST.
The only thing I can find is a bit in the read me that says if machine won't boot use BIOS recovery method - but it doesnt say what that is.
    Help

Please provide full system specs.  Read the >>Posting Guide<< first.
Try to boot in barebone configuration:
    - no hard drives
    - no optical drives
    - no peripheral USB Devices
    - no card readers
    - no add-on cards:
    just:
    - CPU
    - video card
    - one stick of memory in first slot
    - power connectors
    - PS/2 keyboard
Unplug the A/C power connectors from your PSU, then remove the CMOS Battery and let the system rest for while (10-15 minutes), then hit the clear CMOS button at the back panel again, put the battery back in and try to boot.

  • HP Omni 10 5600 Tablet won't boot after BIOS update

The tablet is not loaded (boot) after update bios. The screen was dark during update bios in windows 8.1, there is vibration when you press the power button 5-10sec. Or vibration when you press the touch button Win.  Help please.
Tell me at least what type of BIOS
What is the shortcut key startup recovery Bios?

I had a similar issue. Hold the power button for approximatel 6-10 seconds and see if you see the anything on the screen. It worked for me. Also try and connect a usb keyboard if you have one.
I would do this with the power supply plugged in to the tablet as well. Good luck.

  • P67A-C45 b3 don't boot with ITE8212 PCI card

    Hello
i was installing my all new motherboard P67A-C45 rev B3 with a core i5 2500K, 4gb of DDR3. No problem for installing all my SATA hard drives as well as Plextor BR writer. Windows seven recognizes everything and everything rules. I have setup the boot priority with plextor and then the SSD drive that have windows 7...Except that as a nostalgic person, i used to keep old IDE hard drives for storing files. For that i use a ITE8212 PCI card in order to have IDE slots. But when pci card is connected (on either of the 3 PCI slots), boot is "freezing". I just have an underscore on the screen and nothing else.
This pci card used to be ok on motherboard without UEFI... is there something that i do wrong ? a specific setup ? an incompatibility ?
Thanks for any help you could give me.

I'm not too concerned with the x8 limitation. Any idea about the video issue itself? It'd be nice to be able to choose which card to boot from without having to take one out or switch them around. I get the feeling that it's always going to use the first card it finds plugged in and just ignore the second card until the OS drivers take control. Mostly I just wanted to confirm that was the case and not just a problem with my own board.
Guess I'll work in getting my 6950 working under OS X, because it's too big to go into E5 without covering some PCI slot I need and also the headers for my power and reset buttons.

    hi sathish291
    Welcome to the Forums.
    Can you try the following:
    1. Power down the machine, remove the AC adapter and battery.
    2. Hold the power button for 30secs and reconnect the AC adapter only then turn the computer ON.
If the machine still doesn't power up normally and boot into WIndows then it's likely that something went wrong (could be a bad BIOS flash or an internal component might have gone defective during or after the BIOS update). In this case, you may need to contact lenovo on how to go about getting the unit serviced.

  • P67A GD55 Windows fails to boot after flashing

    Hi!
Tried to update my bios today using Live Update 5. Everything went according to plan until it was time to reboot after the succesful flashing. It started booting and everything was fine. The windows loading screen appears but then i get a message that something is wrong and it tries to repair it. Of course this fails and i've also tried to do a system repair using a back up.
    I'm running windows 8 64-bit.
    Got a Intel i7 2600k 3.4ghz cpu.
The old bios was from 2010 something.
I cannot get into the bios either when pressing f8 or del.
    Any help is appreciated.

Try to re-flash to 1C, make sure to use the forum flash tool. You will need to install the tool on another computer and use that computer to prepare the flash drive.
Then try to boot from the flash drive.
1 min just in case I am going to attached special archive. Make sure that is your  board.
Use option 1 of the forum flash tool and point it at the attached archive. This will flash you ME version as well if needed.
That is my board. Can i use that forum flash tool on a mac? I only have mac computers in my house except for my gaming rig.
Edit. I read in the thread you can only use it on Windows systems. Guess i will have to wait until tomorrow and borrow a Windows computer. Is there a chance the whole Motherboard is garbage now?

  • WinXP booted after BIOS update cleared RAID setting, now won't boot in RAID mode

I updated the P965 Platinum BIOS to 1.7 and my system stopped booting.  After much experimentation I discovered it would boot if I unplugged the monitor and mouse, so I was able to "upgrade" to 1.6, and it's working again.  However, the first time it booted blind with 1.7 it got all the way to Windows before I realized what happened.
My system was set up with a RAID1 pair, but the BIOS upgrade cleared the SATA mode to IDE, and it booted Windows before I changed it back.  Now Windows won't boot when I set it to RAID.  It complains <windows>/system32/hal.dll is missing or corrupt.  It seems to work (mostly) when I put it back to IDE mode.  How do I get it back to RAID1?

  • Lenovo w510 will not boot after BIOS update

    Hi,
This morning I used the windows bios update utility to update my Lenovo w510 type 4318. Everything appeared to have been successful until the machine rebooted. It froze on the lenovo splash screen with text saying to press the blue think vantage button for more options.
I waited a good 30 minutes to make sure it wasn't processing anything before trying again. When frozen pressing the power button cause system to beep two times Pause and beep three more times.
Called Lenovo support and was told since out of warranty (2/12) the onlyI option is for paid mail in repair at quoted maximum of $575. Needless to say I was very dissatisfied - and made this clear to support who informed there was no way to escalate and no other options.
Does anyone have any other options or ability to escalate this case and keep a Lenovo customer. really disappointed

  • Computer will not boot after bios update

This afternoon I recieved an urgent BIOS update in much the same format as I have received updates from HP for years. It was accompanied with some other non urgent update.
So I gave  the permissions to make the update.
I recieved a notice that the update had been successfully completed and the computer said it was restarting.
The problem is that it never woke up...
After several minutes I manualy restarted the computer.
As the boot began I heard three beeps, and then nothing but a black screen.
I shut down and restarted after several minutes but this time no beeps just black screen.
I figured that somthing must have corrupted the BIOS
I began researching what the three beeps mean.  Appearently three different sets of BOIS were used in this model.  Different BIOS have different beeps.
Well I sure never  thought I would need to write down what BOIS I have...
In my research I have see referances to holding down certain F keys  for different BIOS options as I start the computer
If I hold down an F key when I hit the start button the computer emediately shuts off
How can I get to the BIOS to reset or roll back the update?  What next?

The box is on the way...
In addition the the methods outlined in the article The Hp tech  had me try to start tapping the F 10 key.
    Nothing worked...
Hp is sending me a box to return the computer to a repair facility.
Thank you for your  timely assistance,
