P67A-GD55: "Adjust CPU Ratio" disables "CPU Phase Control"

I'm using P67A-GD55 (BIOS ver.1.7) and i5-2500K.
I changed "Adjust CPU Ratio" and I found "CPU Phase Control" was disabled automatically.
1. Click "Green Power" and set "CPU Phase Control" to "APS Mode".
2. Click "OC" and set "Adjust CPU Ratio" to "33"
(It's a default value, but please click the number "33").
3. Click "Green Power" and check "CPU Phase Control".
It is changed to "Disabled".
Please keep "CPU Phase Control = APS Mode".

Thanks for the info.
I had another account and I reported a BIOS bug a few years ago.
MSI fixed it soon.
I remember that, so I bought the MSI mainboard.
I hope this post would help other P67A-GD55 users and the MSI developers.
Note for users:
MSI will upload the latest BIOS to the Taiwanese site first.

  • P67A-GD55 1.A bios = warmer CPU

When I updated my bios from 1.9 to 1.A my cpu's core temps at idle went from all of them getting down to around 22 with the 1.9 to between 26~29 with 1.A.  The load temps made the same jump.  Switch back to 1.9 and temps go back down.  Is this to be expected?  I mean was this predicted by some change to the bios such as CPU voltage or recalibrated thermo, or is this just my board?

I use core temp most of the time, but I use speedfan as well.  I feel like a heel now that I've done some deeper investigation.  At idle with 1.9 the volts are 0.780 ~0.800 and with the 1.A idle is ~0.960.  At full load they are 1.28 and 1.32 respectively.  I guess this accounts for my temp differences.  Since my system is stable with the lower voltages I should just stick with the 1.9 bios?  And on with feeling like a heel, I just noticed there was a bios forum.  Sorry, I'm a noob to the site.  I've always used MSI boards, but I've never been interested in the bios until now.  I just made my settings and went with it.  I would probably been the same with this one except the first board I got wouldn't run in raid mode until I updated the bios.  Then when the replacement came I was very interested.

  • P67A-GD55 Replacement

Hello to everyone, I have a P67A-GD55 that is giving me several problems and I am planning to buy a Z77A-GD55 because they seem very similar. Could you please tell me if I can use the Core i5 2500 processor, the 1333 Memory and the PCi Express Video Card that is already installed in my old P67A-GD55. I checked the CPU Support for the Intel Core i5 2500 and is OK but I don't know if the other components will be supported as well.
In the specifications for this motherboard says it support Sandy Bridge Processors and Ivy Bridge and I want to know if I can run Windows 8 on this motherboard with a second generation Sandy Bridge processor.
    Thanks

    CPU yes as its supported!
RAM yes as it will be perfectly compatible as its standard DDR3 1333MHz!
Graphics Card yes as the board has a PCI-E 16x slot and it will run with your CPU at 16x gen2.0 speeds no problem!
so get one and just throw everything in from the faulty board that's giving you problems and your good to go!

  • P67a-gd55 b3 o.c genie lowered my ram frequency

Got a problem with o.c genie button. when o.c button is active, my ram frequency lowered 1600 to 1333mhz.
    Mainboard : P67A-GD55 B3
    Bios : 4.3
    Cpu : İntel i5 2500k
    Ram : Kingston KHX1600C9AD3B1K2/4G  (it's 1600mhz ram,but in factory settings lowered to 1333, i don't know why)
I haven't enough information at overclocking (voltages etc.), so i trust o.c genie.
On standart mode, i changed myself ram frequency "auto" to "1600mhz", everthing is fine. But when O.C genie mode is on, ram frequency option locked, it says "1600mhz" but current frequency is lowered to 1333. Is there a option to overclocked cpu, and ram frequency on 1600mhz same time ?

Your ram seems not to feature a XMP setting (http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KHX1600C9AD3B1K2_4G.pdf). But oc genie can either set standard or XMP settings. Your standard settings of the ram are programmed into the SPDs to JEDEC standard latency DDR3-1333 timing of 9-9-9. So your standard setting is 1333. DDR3-1600 requires manual setting.
So with oc genie you have to manually set DDR3-1600.

  • BIOS showing 2500K Locked & Cant adjust CPU ratio in Windows.. P67A-GD65

    Hello all..
I am not having any stability issues at all with my setup.. It is running great and I love the P67A-GD65..
However I am having an issue w/ CPU ratio adjustment..
I am running the 1.6 BIOS release from the 1.4 the board shipped with.. The issues remained on both BIOS versions..
I noticed in the CPU section the BIOS is seeing my 2500K as "LOCKED".. I can however adjust the CPU ratio manually in the OC section of the BIOS to achieve the overclock I want..
I enabled the "adjust cpu ratio from OS" option.. However the Control Center II software will not show me a dropdown to adjust the ratio in Windows 7 Pro 64bit.. So I have to make manual CPU ratio changes in the BIOS for now.. Control Center II does allow all other options to be changed.. Memory settings etc.. I just can't change the CPU ratio..
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Control Center app.. BIOS upgrade.. CMOS clear.. etc.. I suspect this is just a flaky BIOS issue..
Anyone else experiencing this? This is a minor inconvenience.. I can get everything I need out of the board from the BIOS I would just really like to use Control Center II for everything if possible..
    Thanks!!

The best I can advise is to delete Control Centre from your PC and attempt changes via the BIOS. IF that fails then MSI technical needs to be advised so that they can try and simulate your hardware combo. If it does work via the BIOS, then MSI technical should be advised irrespective about the Control Centre's inability to perform the functions it should.
My own experience with Control Centre software has been anything but satisfactory. The best way is still to tweak via the BIOS.
Just to confirm, you did do a CMOS reset/clear after the BIOS update? Power cord removed..... the normal procedure?
Yeah I've been working in the BIOS.. Bummer the tool lets me change everything but the CPU ratio..
I cleared CMOS w/ the same process you mentioned a few times prior to be sure..
Just after I made the initial post I opened a tech support tkt so we shall see.. I still think it has something to so w/ the BIOS interpreting my CPU as locked but I could be wrong..
Thanks for your assistance.. I appreciate it..

  • Cannot adjust CPU ratio on z77 GD55

My computer shut down automatically because of  Drmos overheating few hours ago.
After that my max CPU ratio can only adjust to 37 and my ram speed can only   set at max 1333mhz
Other than that my computer seems absolutely normal.

What exactly is meant by that? The system should always be properly cooled. Recommend to remove the PSU power cord, remove the battery for awhile, clear CMOS and reset and try again. What kind of CPU cooling solution are using? What kind of air flow does the case normally have running? What were the system OC settings when it all went bad?

  • P67A-G43 Can't Adjust CPU Ratio or DRAM Voltage After BIOS Upgrade to 5.4

After upgrading in preparation for a 3770K, the new BIOS doesn't let me set the CPU Ratio (it reads Auto without [], and is not adjustable). It also does not let me adjust the DRAM voltage (same thing is shown - Auto without []). This is in "normal" mode, but same thing goes for "eco" mode. If I switch to OCG mode, the ratio adjusts, but I do not have manual control. Prior to BIOS it was fine and adjustable. Any suggestions?

I tried OCG mode (which defaults to 4.2). This also did not work. BIOS shows 4.2 in top left and in ratio, but CPU-Z continues to show 3.4.
Switching to OCG and back to normal also failed to POST, but a CMOS clear and battery removal remedied that.
But even after the reset BIOS shows set ratio, while CPU-Z and benchmarks show stock 3.4.
    I'll post a separate topic.

  • P67A-GD65 B3 - bios locked at 42x cpu ratio

    Hi all
    I'm running a P67A-GD65 (B3) with 2x2GB of G.Skill ripjaws (F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM) 2500k, 460gtx, WD black, WD green, win7 HP
And just added another two stick of the same ripjaws. - this didn't post :(
Cleared cmos, loaded defaults as was running the ripjaws at 1.5v still didn't boot
Removed the old set and booted fine with the new set.
Ran the bios and windows memtest all fine.
Then noticed that new sticks were running 1.66v with XMP (1600)
XMP couldn't be disable and ram speed coundn't be changed - bios showed as white, but didn't highlight with mouse or arrow keys.
CPU ratio was also at 42 (as above, white but un clickable or arrow un selectable)
It was also running stock bios 1.8 - and I'm sure I was using 1.8b11 beta
Flashed to 1.12 but that didn't change anything accept a different set of beeps
running 1.9 now with same beeps as before.
load defaults doesn't change any thing - very confused - if there a setting I need to unlock to change things manually?

Gave the OC Genie button a bit of movement when the power was fully off.
It started up perfectly after an extended time clear cmos - stock 2500k timings and 1.5v 667 (10700)
Rebooted with the extra sticks without issue , stressing the ram now without errors.
Thank to you both - don't think i left it long enough after using the cmos button - my bad, school boy error of not reading the clear cmos guide

  • How do you adjust CPU ratio?

    System Specs:
    Intel Core 2 Q6600 (G0)
    MSI X48 Platinum
    BIOS: v2.3 (07/07/2008)
How do you adjust the CPU ratio in the Cell Menu? It is not greyed out, but I can't seem to change it to anything. It talks about Speed stepping technology needing to be disabled, but from what I can tell that is under the DOT Control stuff which I have disabled. Any ideas?

I just read in another thread that you need an extreme chip or an engineering sample to do this. Is this true?
That is only if you want to apply higher MP than default one.

  • How to get higher cpu voltage during load when using "auto" with P67A-GD55?

I have a little question regarding cpu voltage: When i set vcore to "auto" i get a nice low voltage when idle but during load i only get 1.264 max and that is to low.
Is there a setting to increase the voltage during load and still have the cpu vcore set to auto?
    Thanks
    System:

OK, so you are able to set your CPU voltage manually. You need to consider that the auto voltages will compensate only up to a certain OC level, after which the user usually has to do manual adjustments. This auto compensation differs for each hardware combination. As HU16E suggested, try low VDroop and see if it helps. The other alternative is a BIOS flash, or manual voltage settings.
I tried low vdroop but it didn´t make any difference. But it´s ok, i can set the vcore manually but i was just investigating if i could get the best of both worlds with the powersavings auto vcore offers during idle

  • Z77A-GD80 Beta bios 1.2B Cant Adjust CPU Ratio I7 3770K

So I finally got my ram issue fixed (was bad module from Gskill).  Now the issue that I am having is that I cant adjust the CPU ratio so I can overclock my I7 3770K!  It is on auto and it will not let me use the + or - keys or manually input the ratio I want to use.  On the drop down menu all I have is auto.  Is this a bug with this bios?  What am I doing wrong if anything?

Are you trying to change the multiplier from uefi/ bios or click bios II? Have you tried flashing back to 1.1?

  • Command Center upgrade to 1.0.0.68 does not adjust CPU Ratio

    Hello,
I had a previous version of Command Center. I believe it was 1.0.0.48. I was able to use it to adjust the CPU ratio OK.
However, it kept asking that I upgrade to the latest. I finally did this and now the new version (1.0.0.68) will not adjust the CPU Ratio.
I am using the Z87-GD65 Gaming board, with the 1150 socket, operating in Windows 8.1 64 bit.
    I  have the i5 4670k cpu.
I would like to revert back to the original version, which I believe is Command Center 1.0.0.48, but I cannot find a link to it anywhere.
Can you please provide a link to it?

I mean that when I set the CPU ratio to say 39 and then I click APPLY, the CPU ratio stays at 34.
Command Center will show it's at 39, but Real Temp still shows it at 34.
When using the older version, I set the CPU ratio to 39, then click APPLY, the CPU ratio goes to 39.
Real Temp will show it's at 39.
Version 1.0.0.68 will not adjust the CPU ratio.
Also, I can install Command Center from the DVD that comes with the MSI board. It is even older than 1.0.0.48 (right now, I cannot remember the version, but it is older). I am able to adjust the CPU ratio to 39, then click APPLY and the CPU ratio is now at 39.
Real Temp will show it's at 39.
    Not the case with 1.0.0.68.
Anyway, is there anyway I can get version 1.0.0.48?
