P67a-GD55 won't boot/post

Hi everyone
bought a new WD hard drive, and I initialized/formatted it inan external box I have... everything ok. (I'm not using it for OS, just backed up some files - for OS I have a SSD drive).
Decided to move it inside my PC... due to case's internal space I had to take the memory modules and video card out... installed the HD, then put everything back inside. Turn it on, nothing... it stays on for around 5 seconds and it reboots itself (left it to see what will do, it keeps doing the same... no beep sound or anything...)
Took this WD HD out, and put everything as it used to be... still keeps rebooting itself and I get nothing... How can I get to the BIOS and check things out? I tried DEL, nothing... tried F11, nothing...
Pressed the reset button and tried again... nothing... Reset the Bios from the back button and also took the battery out for a few minutes... still nothing...
Your help much appreciated!!!

After researching on the net all this time, I tried to reboot with just 1 piece of RAM in it... then the beeps came back, and then stuck... after that I turned it off, re-install the remaining 3 memory modules, and then PC started working as nothing ever happened
All good then...
The only thing I was thinking is that I noticed my RAM is 1.6V while the product page says memory should be 1.5V... anyways, it has worked fine all this time, and works fine again...

  • P67A-GD55 Won't Power On - Onboard Power Button Blinks

I just built my Core i7 system with the P67A-GD55 motherboard and I'm having a problem.  I've got all my components installed and when I plug my power cord into my power supply the system won't turn on.  The power button on the motherboard repeatedly blinks green, but doesn't do anything.  My case power button won't do anything at all either.  I've read through the manual and searched through the forums and haven't been able to find an answer.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Mobo:  MSI P67A-GD55
    CPU: Intel Core i7-2600 3.4GHz
    RAM:  Patriot Gamer 2 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1600
    HDD1:  Crucial M4 64GB connected to SATA1
    HDD2:  Seagate 7200.11 500GB connected to SATA2
    PSU:  Silverstone ST60F 600W
    Video: ATI Radeon 4670 1GB

PSU has 42 +12V amps on the single rail, so that shouldn't be a problem. Could you please check the green sticker on the BIOS chip to see which version the board was shipped with? Guessing 1.8 or 1.9? I have a feeling it is a RAM compatibility issue. The very newest BIOS's have improved support for both G.Skill & Patriot memory modules, but you have to get into the BIOS initially to set the RAM up manually to possibly get to the point of loading the OS for the BIOS update. To rule out a possible bad stick of RAM, try to start with each of them singularly in the first blue slot, & just one HDD, & with VGA installed.

  • P67A-C45 won't boot with a certain mouse

I got it two days ago, and it just wouldn't boot while Steelseries Xai mouse is connected. Before the bios screen, while those numbers appear at the lower right corner of the screen, it would just hang at "B4" and do nothing. As soon as I disconnect the device it continues booting. It's a real hassle disconnecting and connecting it after boot. I also flashed bios to 1.7 hoping it would fix it, but no improvement at all.

    Hi all,
@belph, no need to thanks mate. i think internet is a wonderfull and powerfull tool where you can learn and share opinions and thoughts  and forums are created to this matter, to share opinions and thought and knowledges
btw the way after hours of research and brain damage  i got some kind of fix if you want to hear... so i read somewhere that an pc usb card should do the trick, so today i went to a pc shop and bought one... it was 10€ +\-  here's the link (http://www.conceptronic.net/site/desktopdefault.aspx?tabindex=1&tabid=212&cid=10&gid=1030&pid=C480I5_V4).
well i got home and plug it into the motherboard, and pluged the mouse on it and i pressed the power button...and i crossfingered lol... so the boot went normal, and fast as usual when you're using another mouse and i thought well it's fixed.... but then.... it frooze...so did my veins, my heart and brain.... just before loading windows this little sucker had to freeze the OS loading just for some 10 secs max. ... but there's a point to that i think... and here's my question\doubts, the pci sound card boots, i guess, just before windows, i can hear some kind of "clicks" (btw it's an asus xonar dx), so if the usb sound card is plugged into the motherboard, and have a "slow" boot, so it's possible the usb card can also "boot" just before win loading?
Is there a way to make it "boot" earlier?
    My final thoughts:
So if you want some kind of fix and make your steelseries xai to work, this is the fix for me, not mine because someone already discovered this but i didn't knew if it was successful or not...
So it's cheaper than buying a new mouse? yes it is...is it acceptable? well not for me and shouldn't be for Steelseries, but after spending almost 70€ on a new mouse, "the lost hours" reading and searching instead of enjoying my brand new pc, i think it's the only way if you want to enjoy this mouse.
the other option? well just sell it, returned to the shop if you can or just put it somewhere you can't see it :p because if you're unlucky as i was you can't properly enjoy your mouse and pc because of unplug\plug every single time you want to use your pc.....
Thanks for reading, sorry for the long post.

  • P67a-GD65 won't boot with over 12 GB RAM

    Hello all,
I am running the P67a-GD65 with i5 2500k, GTX 570, 1T HD and 60Gb SSD. I had 16 GB (4/4Gb) of Hyper x 1600 MHz RAM installed and it was working for a while. Then the computer shut off in the middle of a game. I realized the video card fan was not working and swapped it out. However, with the 4 (4gb) Ram installed it would start up for a few seconds (fans, lights running) then shuts off...the cycle continues but never stays on nor long enough to reach the BIOS setup. I removed one 4gb Ram and its up and running. I was able to play BF3 and I have had no issues. Is there any reason why this happens? is it a setting in BIos that I need to fix or do I just need to swap out the mobo? I know its not the RAM because I exchanged them earlier today along with the Video Card. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Any word on when an updated BIOS will be released to fix this issue?
No, you need to check this thread regularly https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=144655.700
At this point flash back to the BIOS that did work. Use the forum flasher >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
and report your findings to MSI so that they can fix it and potentially release the BIOS that you are hoping for    If everyone reports their findings then the chances are so much better to get a fix sooner rather than later.

  • X79A GD65 8D Won't Boot/Post/No Display

    Hi,
Just recently bought this board with the following hardware
    Intel 3930K C2 Processor
    32 GB 4gb x 8 Gskill 2133 Memory
    2 x 590 nVidia Graphics
    2 x OCZ Vertex 3 SSds
All but the processor were in my last PC and worked fine.
I installed the board/CPU but when I boot the PC lights up but nothing else happens.
There is no video displayed and the LED debug screen stays blank.
I have tried it with minimal h/w (1 graphics card/1 or 2 Memory) but this has no effect.
In fact taking all the hardware out entirely gives the same result as does taking out the CPU.
I have read on the forum that the original BIOS didn't support the C2 stepping ; would this cause this issue ?
If so is there any way to resolve without getting a 2nd processor ?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated
    Thanks

Err... Just reading the manual (don't usually bother I'll be honest) .... is JPWR3 important ?  I thought it was for the external SATA connectors (since the expansion card has the same type of power adapter on it) but the manual says it's for 'use to provide power to the graphics card). This obviously sounds like it would cause a problem with video display (!)  but I had assumed that the 2 x 8 pin power cables to each graphics card would be all they would need. In any case I would have assumed that the motherboard would still boot/error codes display.
I'll be really embarrassed if this is the problem .. I have sent the board for testing back in the UK (can't get a local shop to do it) so if this is the problem I can let them know and avoid too much diagnostics.
    Thanks

  • P67a-GD80 won't boot from USB HDD

Trying to boot from a bootable thumb drive.
I've got the bios checked to boot from USB HDD first.
    Still boots from HDD.
When I disable second & third boot devices (hdd & cd-rom), I get the message "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key".
    Ideas?

  • MSI P67A-GD65 Won't Boot

Think my mobo might be DOA but not sure:
When I turned the machine on the first time It said ram configuration had changed and i needed to enter setup, when i pressed F1 to do so a _ appeared in the top left of the screen and flashed, it did this for 30 seconds then rebooted continually.
This is testing out of the main machine on carboard, with 1 stick of ram (4GB corsair Vengeance 1600 Mhz), Gfx card (MSI N480GTXM2D15), SSD (Corsiar Force F60), adn optical drive (Sony DVD-R).  Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    Hugs,
    Catherine
As above I briefly mentioned how I had the same problem related to the blinking cursor and how the computer would not accept keyboard commands.
Like you, I turned it on the following day, and suddenly, the commands worked. However as per my final notes here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=686c0a276dfe3aa420ae61e9b19a715e&topic=144799.0
    it still was borked.
Fortunately you got yours to work, but given the amount of problems you(and I) had, I just wish we had a more concrete reason as to why this is happening.

  • P67A-GD55 boot stops at POST 99 w/ 1-long+2short beep code.

Well subject line tells most of the story:
P67A-GD55 boot stops at POST 99 in lower right of display and with 1-long+2short beep code.
I've found a note somewhere on these forums that 99 code means Super IO initialization,   though I'm not sure if this is the checkpoint before or after that process.
I've found generic information that suggests 1long+2short beep code indicates a video card failure.
I'm surprised that the manual for the MB doesn't list these codes, and that they weren't listed in the troubleshooting FAQ on the MSI site.   So I still wonder if it may mean something else.
I've disconnected all the SATA connections,  and removed all pci cards except for the video card.   Guess I'll try disconnecting the front-panel usb connectors too in a moment, but I'm running out of ideas.
With a EVGA GT520 video card,   I get these symptoms regardless of which pcie slot I put the card in.
With a Galaxy 8400GS  the beep code is the same but no output is ever visible on the display.  It seems possible that I just need an adapter to use the other connector on this card to see the output though.
With a EVGA 7800GT   the symptoms are the same as with the EVGA GT520
If I try removing the memory sticks I get 3-long beeps followed by system shutting itself down.

Run of the mil keyboard.    (has a logo with a circle containing a crescent containing a D).   Suppose I could switch to a usb keyboard around here somewhere.
Disconnected the logitec usb mouse that I had connected to the back panel with no change in symptoms.
Toughpower-650 power supply (had been in use on a system that was running an athlon x64 and the GT7800GT graphics card.
2 sticks PNY DDR3 PC3-10666 4G  ("compatible with 1333MHz")   1 stick in each blue slot.
No idea how to tell you the UFEI/BIOS version.    The manual says its "CLiCK BiOS"   but since I've never seen anything but 98,99 and _  displayed by the BIOS  I really don't know.
Removing the case front panel USB connectors didn't change symptoms.
Resetting the bios by the button at the back panel connectors (near keyboard connector)  didn't change anything. (although it did not cause  "system will boot automatically"  as a line in the manual might suggest.
Tried using the JBAT connector to clear the bios as well and likewise no change in symptoms.
There are no peripherals connected other than case power switch, power LED and HDD LED at this point.    Somehow I don't expect much change from disconnecting LED's.    Case switch seems to be behaving normally in that it causes the boot cycle to start, and if pressed while the "99" is sitting there in corner of screen it causes machine to shut down.
No SATA devices are connected to it since they won't really be useful untill can at least get to the BIOS.   The sata cables that would go to those devices are still connected to the MB.
    CPU:i5-2400 3.1GHz 6MB Cache LGA1155 95W
Heatsink:Cooler Master Vortex PlusRR-VTPS-28pk-r1  connected to the CPU fan connector on MB.
    No sysfan connections to MB.

    MSI P67A-GD55 Rev B3.

Is this an option that can be activated in the bios.

  • Windows 8 secure boot on P67A-GD55

    Hello to everyone
I want to know if MSI has already released a fix that enables to run Windows 8 secure boot on P67A-GD55 Motherboard. I already have the 1.19 version installed which it says it is not compatible with secure boot mode.
There are two BIOS versions 4.1 and 4.2 that I want to know if they enable to use the secure boot mode of Windows 8 on this motherboard, because it already has UEFI but at the same time says it is not compatible.
    Thanks,

You have been linked to the latest  release which showed up during this topic. You won't break anything if you follow the directions precisely.

Full release out today. I posted it at the link below. Follow directions precisely and you must use the forum flash tool.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=164135.msg1214789#msg1214789
If mainboard won't even start or you have stability issues don't consider flashing bios as you'd have a good chance of bricking the system. If the board crashes while flashing you can use it as a paper weight.
Just install one stick of ram and make sure it is stable before trying to flash.

  • Won't boot at all... [will not POST]

Greets. My order from newegg just came in today and i'm quite happy with the "big" things i got-
    AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (link)
    MSI K8N Neo4-F (link)
Now, I'm not totally oblivious with the whole computer situation, after all, I was brave enough to build this, right? 8) The problem I am having lies in the fact that the computer just won't boot at all. Eventually I turned on that D-Bracket into JDB1. So far it has got Yellow and Red LEDs which stay on. The book tells me that the processor is installed incorrectly. I'm pretty sure it's lying as I have checked it many times (please don't make me take off that heatsink/fan again) and the chip is FIRMLY set in it's place. Alas, the screen stays black (running off of a sapphire card) and nothing happens. I would expect to AT LEAST get a BIOS screen to see where I messed up my SATA configuration (as I'm sure I did...)
But, if anyone has seen a problem like this or knows a solution, please give me a shout. It is very much appreciated
edit: after lurking more (link) I have decided that i'm not at fault, it is, indeed, the graphics card and/or monitor that are not working. I get:
which, according to this post, means that I should be in the clear for BIOS set up. Nothing is displayed on my screen! :( Help!
    Thanks.
    Sean

    1) Do u have any usb cables from your case front panel or Flash card/drive or usb hubs connected to the mobo if so unplug them.
    2) Switch off computer & unplug mains lead the remove a module of memory leaving the remaining 1 in slot1 (nearest CPU)
if 1 doesn't apply or doesn't give any change try 2.
1 does not apply, the only external devices i have attached are a monitor, keyboard, mouse (all os/2, not usb) and of course our friendly D-Bracket.
I have unplugged all IDE devices and SATA devices. All that's in there is the 1 GB of RAM (it's a 1gb stick, not 512mb), graphics card and processor, still no picture :(

  • P67a-gd55 boot loop

    p67a-gd55
    i5-2500k
    4x4gb Corsair vangeance cl9 1600mhz
    nvidia 9600gt
    win 7 64bits
it work fine with 8gb at 1333mhz, but when i upgraded it to 16gb, it don't start anymore and loop at the boot. I tried to setup ram to 1333mhz instead of auto, put the voltage to 1.65v as suggested for p67 board. I also tried each module and it's works fine at 8gb but anything to do at 16gb.
There is a way to do it works with this kit.

Quote from: loomyz on 30-May-12, 07:17:01
I updated the Bios to v1.I and it changes anything. I mixed my 8gb kit and it works, so i supposed it will normally work at 16gb.
just because 8GB of mixed ram worked doesnt mean it will always work with mixed kit (you probably got lucky with the 8GB config and the chips would have been within a batch or 2 of each other)
the 16GB 2x(2x4GB) dual channel kits might have very different chips so you have this problem
DON'T EVER ASSUME THAT MIXED KITS WILL WORK BECAUSE IT DID BEFORE YOU MIGHT HAVE JUST GOT LUCKY <--- thats a rule i always follow
do you still have the boxes the 2 8GB kits came in as there is a lable on the back with a barcode number above the kit number CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 what are the 2 numbers off them eg. 106578452?
a drift on them of more then 1,000,000 then the chips will not be matching at all from my experiance with corsair dimms.
