P67A-GD65 (B3) Bios Profiles

Hi All,
I am looking at updating my BIOS as I am having a few issues that I think will be resolved with the fixes that came out with the BIO's previously.
However I currently have some profiles set up that I wanted to know, would they be deleted when the new BIOs was flashed?

Before updating, write down all the settings of each profile on paper so they can be duplicated later. Keep in mind, with BIOS changes, the old settings may not work exactly the same again anyway.

  • P67A-GD65 (b3) bios 4.0 problems

Hello guys, this is my first message in this forum and I'm so excited
    Here is my problem:
After updating my bios, i can't get my old result@overclocking, i was using my CPU@4,5ghz but now i only have 3,8ghz stable. And my ram's have xmp problem, i can't activate xmp for g.skill ram's, it was ok before update but now... how can i solve this problem, anybody has this problem?

You should not have flashed 4.0 BIOS unless you intended to use Ivy Bridge CPU, in fact 4.0 is no longer available to flash.
There are beta BIOSs available for keyboard/mouse issues and other similar problems but 4.0 was only available for Ivy Bridge CPU support and that did not work out so good and 4.0 was removed from BIOS downloads at MSI shortly after it was released.

Unfortunately I don't think there is any way you can flash to the earlier BIOS you had before. I imagine it could be done by a shop or MSI using JSPI1 but you can't flash it by USB yourself.

  • P67A-GD65 B3 BIOS Update Failure

I decided to update my BIOS to the latest due to them being 1.5 years old (Version 1.D) to the latest (4.2).  I did it via the Windows method, after the first reboot there was no longer any video. I let it sit for 40 minutes and still nothing.  So now the computer is unusable.  I can't get into BIOS.  I tried resetting CMOS multiple times and different ways.
The BIOS status light on the board does not indicate a problem. USB even powers up.  Not sure what to do now and could really use some assistance.
    Specs:
    Mobo: P67A-GD65 B3
    CPU: i7 2600K (No overclock)
GPU: MSI Nvidia 670 GTX 2GB
    RAM: GSkill RIPJAWS DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 1.5v 4GB (x2)
    PSU: Corsair TX650w
HDs: 500GB WD Blue, 650GB WD Black

Yeah, not much you can do at this point.
Your best bet depending on where you are and how much shipping would be is MSI. If you could, let me know how much if anything they charge for this.
    >>How to contact MSI.<<
Next, would be a computer shop with the nessesary equip, that is of course unless you have a friend with an IB cpu.
Keep in mind how much it is going to cost though as even a high end board like the z77a-gd65 is only $165 or so.
    <<New Egg MSI LGA1155 Motherboards>>>
PS: You aren't the only one by a long shot doing this, so don't feel bad. The warning isn't very intimidating beneth the bios download. Perhap's MSI will flash it for free, who knows.

  • P67A-GD65: failed BIOS update, no more post

    Hi,
I had updated my P67A-GD65 (B3) to the new 4.3 BIOS, after using a much older one, based on the description for improved PCI-E performance. The experience was a nightmare though, and not only could I no longer overclock in the BIOS (nor the Control Center software), but my video card, a Radeon 7870, became highly unstable. I had backed up my BIOS before this, and proceeded to downgrade to it from the BIOS utility. It gave me a warning that the BIOS file was not for my motherboard, which i understandably ignored, since that was what it had been running before. Lo and behold, the machine will no longer post at all and I have just about thrown in the towel.
I did some searches here and cleared the CMOS via the jumper, and tried the recovery tips I saw regarding booting with the CTRL-Home keys pressed, but no sign of life at all. I live in Brazil, so sending this for tech support will mean some weeks and shipping abroad. Before I do that, does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

I Think MSI must advise all users that some procedure of flashing are dangerous, like "in Bios" and "in Windows".
MSI should simply remove from official site these flashing possibilities.
Perhaps I exaggerate, but it is not normal that the flashing procedure fails with official tools.
I think the fact their new BIOS is so problematic is a much worse issue than this failed flash problem that killed my computer. I did not mention that after all those problems I described with 4.3, I actually downgraded to 4.2 to see the exact same problem. It was at that point that I chose to move back to the older BIOS family which led to the present standstill.

  • P67A-GD65 B3 - bios locked at 42x cpu ratio

    Hi all
    I'm running a P67A-GD65 (B3) with 2x2GB of G.Skill ripjaws (F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM) 2500k, 460gtx, WD black, WD green, win7 HP
And just added another two stick of the same ripjaws. - this didn't post :(
Cleared cmos, loaded defaults as was running the ripjaws at 1.5v still didn't boot
Removed the old set and booted fine with the new set.
Ran the bios and windows memtest all fine.
Then noticed that new sticks were running 1.66v with XMP (1600)
XMP couldn't be disable and ram speed coundn't be changed - bios showed as white, but didn't highlight with mouse or arrow keys.
CPU ratio was also at 42 (as above, white but un clickable or arrow un selectable)
It was also running stock bios 1.8 - and I'm sure I was using 1.8b11 beta
Flashed to 1.12 but that didn't change anything accept a different set of beeps
running 1.9 now with same beeps as before.
load defaults doesn't change any thing - very confused - if there a setting I need to unlock to change things manually?

Gave the OC Genie button a bit of movement when the power was fully off.
It started up perfectly after an extended time clear cmos - stock 2500k timings and 1.5v 667 (10700)
Rebooted with the extra sticks without issue , stressing the ram now without errors.
Thank to you both - don't think i left it long enough after using the cmos button - my bad, school boy error of not reading the clear cmos guide

  • P67A-GD65 B3 BIOS/UEFI update for AMD 7970

    HU1GE/Jack
I just got my GD65 B3 RMA returned and was wanting to know if there is a preferred Bios for the new AMD 7970's? Really unsure what happened to kill my board with my two in Xfire. I have it all back together but the cards and want to get a BIOS/UEFI that is recommended. Thanks in advance for all your tireless work!

    Hi,
not that many users out here, I suppose, that are using two crossfired 7970 cards on this platform. So, I suppose, the "pool of experience" regarding the "best UEFI/BIOS Release" for such a configuration is very, very tiny.
As always, you find the latest BETA Releases including full changelog information here:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=144655.0
... but so far, there has not been a single mentioned of ATI 7xxx cards in the the detailed changelogs.
Just to see what happens, I suggest you contact MSI Technical Support and ask them:

  • P67A-GD65 No BIOS/boot with DisplayPort

    Hi,
Just replaced Asus P8P67 Deluxe with this board, as the Asus suffered from random power downs. Turns out, this board did exactly the same as I was typing this.
That problem aside (added more vcore), this board will not even boot into the BIOS (v1.8) with my Apple Cinema screen connected via the DisplayPort (XFX 5870). All I get is a blinking cursor before the MSI logo.
It boots fine using an older DVI monitor.
As soon as I get to the W7 login screen, if I connect the Apple screen, it works perfectly.
One would imagine its something to do with the DisplayPort driver and the graphical aspect of the BIOS.
    Any suggestions?
Edit: already reset CMOS (tried about 5 times), to no avail. AX850 PSU with Corsair 1600 CAS8 16GB RAM.

  • P67A-GD65 Primary BIOS Failure

    Hello there.
I was playing with memory timings, and after few harmless boot hang ups I'm here...
Thanks to blue flashing LED I know my primary BIOS has failed, however, I cant repair it using secondary BIOS ( https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=145084.0;attach=7527 ). EFI just hangs up when I try to save any settings.
I did clear CMOS already - no effect.

  • P67A-GD65(b3) BIOS 4.3 all is well but no XMP option (greyed out)

    Hi all,
I just flashed to BIOS 4.3 (from 1.4, then 1.9) because of issues with keyboard/random repeat boot.
SInce I plan to upgrade in the next few months... I decided to take some risks and try the 4.3 BIOS even though I'm still using a i7 2600k
The flash went without any issues, I then installed ME8 + drivers/updates etc etc.  All in all, the PC works as intended.
The ONLY issue I found is that I cannot set XMP in the BIOS 4.3 while I was able to without any problems with 1.4-1.9.  The option is always greyed out.
I'm wondering if there a setting that greys it out somewhere else, but so far I can't find it if there is one.  Check my sig for the type of memory.   I tried with 1 stick, 2 sticks & 4 sticks.  Same results on all 3 tries.
P.S. Not a huge issue since I can set the mem at 1600 manually but I would rather it read the XMP info for the other timings.

    Hi @momosala,
    Thanks for the suggestion.
I reflashed to 4.30 using the Tool & the archive (.zip in last post of the page you linked) you suggested.  Cleared the CMOS.  Reset to defaults (F6), rebooted.
Same results.  XMP still greyed out.
Again, no big deal.. been gaming/working with the PC for the last 2 days at 1333mhz with no discernible differences that I could see performance wise.
    Other than that,
    1) my OC is as stable as it ever was (4.0-4.3 turbo).
    2) most important, the new G510 keyboard (replacement for my defective g110 sent by Logitech) is detected correctly with this BIOS.
    3) no double reboots that was showing up in 1.9
    P.S. I *am* using 16GB  (4x4GB) of memory although it worked fine in 1.4 & 1.9 XMP.  Memory is Corsair Vengeance CML8GX3M2A1600C9 x 4.
CORRECTION: Forgot about this.. slot 1 & 3 are CML8GX3M2A1600C9, while slot 2 & 4 are CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 (same memory, shorter heat sinks).   I could try removing 2 sticks to see if it would work.. well,  I'll actually do it right now after writing this.. be right back...
RESULT: FIXED (somewhat) see next post
P.P.S.  I find the numbers a bit confusing for full release vs beta.   4.39 was the last beta while 4.30 is the latest release.   If I read the dates correctly, I see that 4.30 is the latest BIOS - meaning it's more recent than beta 4.39... is this correct?

  • P67A GD65(B3) Bios 4.1: 'zombie' IDE port 5&6 still found when AHCI is enabled

When I enable AHCI for Intel Cougar Point PCH SATA the first controller is utilized for all 6 SATA ports as it should be. The second controller (Device 31: Function 5) that is used for port 5 & 6 in IDE mode is still being found by Windows (PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C08) even though it should have been disabled according to Intel.
At least it doesn't seem to cause any problems...

Ok, let's try this. Intel did not make the mainboard you have. MSI has given all the SATA ports their own description & layout names. So, the Intel controlled ports on your mainboard are ports 1 through 6. Ports 7 and 8 are controlled by the external Marvell chip. The I/O panel eSATA ports are controlled by the JMicron chip. There it is. The Intel controller handles SATA ports 1 through 6 all at the same time. You set AHCI and it is AHCI for all 6 ports 1 through 6. Ports 1 and 2 are SATA III and ports 3 through 6 are SATA II. The external Marvell controlled ports, 7 and 8, are SATA III.
If you have devices in ports 7 and 8 and have the Marvell controller disabled in the UEFI/BIOS and the devices still show, are they functional? If just being reported as something in those ports and they are non functional, I don't see it as any operational problem. I would find it odd though if they show up as active drives in 'My Computer' screen.

For some reason i'm not allowed to send personal/private messages? :(
A certain number of posts are required before the PM feature is available to you. I'm not really sure why you wanted an Ivy UEFI/BIOS unless planning on one later. I've found after some extensive testing you are not really going to gain much of anything with an Ivy. Be that as it may, you have two choices, to get the procedure on how to restore at least the primary BIOS chip fully back to a Sandy UEFI/BIOS and ME, or flash the Ivy 4.1 version. It works, not perfect, but it does well enough.

  • P67A-GD65 New Bios and RAID issues

    Hello all,
Last week I decided to reinstall my whole OS from scratch. Before doing so I updated the BIOS to the latest 4.3 version - I was experiencing some issues which may have been HW related and I thought I wanted to try the latest BIOS.
I now have a weird problem. When I shutdown the PC I can heard my RAID HDDs being turned off one by one, but before the last one is being shut down the PC reboots. Then the RAID BIOS screen takes ages to appear and I can hear my HDDs being turned on one by one - slowly.
If I then shutdown the system again, all is good.
The other day the RAID BIOS was showing one of the RAID HDDs being NOT part of the RAID - hence it marked the array as Degraded. The array rebuilt correctly and it's not ok.
I know that my HDDs are possibly not perfect - but if analysed they do not show any obvious issue - but I was not having this problem before.
Any suggestions? It would be also nice to know WHICH HDD failed, and maybe I could try replacing it! Is there a log somewhere that tells me what's happening?
    Thanks

    Hi there,
What RAID mode are you useing (0, 1, 10,...)?
When you go into RAID BIOS/setup, dosent it show the SATA ports for all your HDD's to see wich failed(if its "fixed" then its maybe toolate for this one)

  • P67A-GD65 (B3) problem

    Here are my specs:
    P67A-GD65 B3 (bios v1.8)
    i5 2500k
    8GB(2x4) DDR3 Corsair XMS3 1600
    GTX260 216
Teamgroup Xtreem S1 SSD 60gb (boot drive)
    Win 7 64 bit
I have searched for a solution to my problem ,yet didn't find it so thought i'll post it here:
The MB ,CPU ,RAM and SSD where bought about 2 weeks ago brand new.
A few days ago i have experienced bad youtube/vimeo/(virtually all flash player video based sites) video playback (corrupted colors ,see attached image) ,corrupted images in browser (also a screenshot below) and artefact photoshop brushes (when painting in ps ,the brush showed similar to the youtube video playback ,random colors corruption).  I thought it's the browser (firefox 4) so i installed chrome ,same problem ,also in opera an IE8 so it's a hardware/driver problem.
At first i suspected a bad memory stick. I've tested them with memtest 3.5 from a bootable CD in dos mode ,in dual-channel ,individual sticks and in all ram slots. ZERO errors. The EFI memory tool also gave me 0 errors and also windows memory manager tool said there are no errors.
Now i suspect the motherboard. Another problem i had with the mb: it kept freezing in idle so i disabled all green-power settings ,speed step ,C1E and EIST which solved it.
I must state that i have no BSoDs ,no hangs/freezes/artefacts in 3d aplications and games, hdd played movies run perfectly fine and the pc runs ok.
I tried reinstalling my graphics drivers ,yet no result. No overclocking was applied to the system.
What can it be? I am out of answers ,google didn't helped me.
    Thank you in advance.

Obviously something wrong with the USB driver, perhaps the mobo USB driver?
It was already reseted to defaults.
I have never had a usb problem ,this is completely new to me.

Just for clarification sake, the black ports are all SATA II & run by the Intel controller. The two white ports closest to the RAM slots are SATA III & also controlled by Intel controller. The other two white ports, 7 & 8 are the SATA III Marvell controlled.
Ok ,sorry ,i misunderstood then. Strange ,after moving them to the white ports ,they show up at boot ,in the black ports it always said no HDD installed/detected.
Ok ,so what now? it seems i jump from a problem into another ,lucky me...
