P67A-GD65 (B3) - DDR3 ram?

hi all, i am newbie and building new PC, what RAM without overclocking would you recommend for a PC newbie for this motherboard?
1) Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB Kit (4GBx4) DDR3 1600, PC3-12800 240-Pin UDIMM Memory BLS4KIT4G3D1609DS1S00/BLS4CP4G3D1609DS1S00 ?
2) Crucial Ballistix Sport 32GB Kit (8GBx4) DDR3 1600 (PC3-12800) 240-pin UDIMM BLS4KIT8G3D1609DS1S00 / BLS4CP8G3D1609DS1S00 ?
any other suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated. thank you all!

Basically any Sandy/Ivy Bridge cpu up to i7 3770K. Note that using an Ivy Bridge cpu will require a current bios.

That depends on your needs. Considering that you want to buy a low-mid range vga a psu of 500 or 550W class should be sufficient in any case.
Good examples would be Corsair CX500 or CS550, Cooler Master G550M, Thermaltake Smart M550W or SeaSonic S12II-520

Considering Nvidia GTX 750ti maybe GTX 960 2GB would fit in that budget. Examples would be MSI N750Ti TF 2GD5/OC, MSI N750Ti-2GD5/OC, MSI GTX 960 2GD5 or MSI GTX 960 2GD5T OC
For AMD R9 270(X) and 285 would be options. If being lucky remainders of R9 280 could also fall in your budget (best option of the AMD models). MSI R9 270 Gaming 2G, MSI R9 270X Gaming 2G (ITX) or MSI R9 285 2GD5T OC would be examples.
Note that any of these cards will also require a current bios on your mainboard.

  • P67a-gd65 (b3) - DDR3 2133 double restart issue

    I have had my p67a-gd65 (b3) for just over a year. Mostly been ok.
    Today I received my Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model 997015.
    I went in set the bios to 2133, checked voltage (was reporting like 1.488v so I upped the voltage from auto to ~1515 or whatever 2 up from 1.5 is) turned on XMP and rebooted. I immediately found that my overclock was no longer stable. So I reset to 34 multi and auto core voltage.
    Every time I turn on my computer/reboot now it starts to power up, shuts off, then powers back up again (like its booting twice). It is very annoying.
    If I turn the ram down to 1866 it acts normal (1 power on). Set it to 2133 and back to the double power on.
    I was on the latest beta bios, so I tried going back to 1e same thing.

  • P67a gd65 (b3) cooler ram selection

    I am looking at getting the hyper 212+ so that I can git my ram in. I heard that in order to install the 212+ that you have to remove something from the motherboard in order to install the plate. Is this the case with this motherboard.
    Any suggestions on a good cooler that will allow me to add the following ram that is going on sale.

     You need to remove MB from the case to install the rear mounting plate for the cooler. There is nothing that needs to be removed from the MB to mount the plate. As far as the clearance for RAM I don't know, heatspreaders like that aren't needed so I don't buy RAM with tall heatspreaders, in fact the Crucial RAM I get are plain black chip on a green stick with no heatspreaders.
     The way the fan mounts it can be raised a small amount for added clearance if needed. 

  • P67A-GD65 Overclocking Help!

    Hey everyone - I'm new to the forums and fairly new to overclocking in general, although I understand the basics of it... I've run into a snag, though.
    Recently I was redoing my desktop (Intel i5 2500k, MSI P67A-GD65, 16GB DDR3 1600 RAM, yada yada) and decided to update the BIOs, something I hadn't thought of doing since I built the PC over a year and a half ago... So, I updated from 1.9 (I think... it was 1.something) to the latest 4.3, and did a reformat on the HDDs and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit... So I'm from scratch. I go into the BIOs to tweak the CPU and all, but I can't adjust anything at all. It's all stuck on "AUTO". I can't make the adjustments I need to make to overclock the CPU... I've read through several tutorials and threads on more forums than I care to admit, and my head is starting to hurt from (1) reading so much and (2) banging my head into the desk over this... Am I missing something? I've read that 4.3 has had some issues when it comes to OC'ing... What should I do? I can grab screenshots or more specs if needed. Thanks for the help in advance - I definitely appreciate it!

    I did a CMOS reset with the "Reset CMOS" button on the motherboard... After I did that and restarted the PC, a message came up informing me that the CMOS had been restored to default settings and asked if I wanted to go into setup or boot as normal... I can pop the battery and PSU cable out if needed... At this point, I'd be perfectly happy reverting back to a Sandy Bridge friendly BIOS, lol...
    I did install the new drivers after flashing the new BIOS, by the way. Followed all the instructions in the link you posted.

  • Cooler and RAM for the MSI P67A GD65?

    I am thinking about getting the Thermaltake Frio for the MSI P67A GD65 board.
    The ram i am thinking about is = G.Skill RipJawX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz.
    Does anyone have the above components?
    Does the cooler clear the ram?
    Can anyone recommend some Ram and /or Cooler if the G.Skill is not suitable.

    That Depends on how you set up the heatsink.
    I happen to have this exact heatsink, but not the same RAM, I have Corsair. In order for me to use the heatsink, I had to put the fan at the rear of the motherboard (where the rear exhaust fan is) and not use the extra fan that came with it because it would block the RAM slots closest to the CPU. This caused me to switch the exhaust fan to an intake fan, which isn't a huge deal if you have top exhaust fans(i do). Be aware that if you have a sidefan/funnel/whatever over your cpu, you'll need to remove it as this heatsink stands a whopping 6.5(give or take .01in) inches tall.

  • P67a-GD65 won't boot with over 12 GB RAM

    Hello all,
     I am running the P67a-GD65 with i5 2500k, GTX 570, 1T HD and 60Gb SSD. I had 16 GB (4/4Gb) of Hyper x 1600 MHz RAM installed and it was working for a while. Then the computer shut off in the middle of a game. I realized the video card fan was not working and swapped it out. However, with the 4 (4gb) Ram installed it would start up for a few seconds (fans, lights running) then shuts off...the cycle continues but never stays on nor long enough to reach the BIOS setup. I removed one 4gb Ram and its up and running. I was able to play BF3 and I have had no issues. Is there any reason why this happens? is it a setting in BIos that I need to fix or do I just need to swap out the mobo? I know its not the RAM because I exchanged them earlier today along with the Video Card. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

    At this point flash back to the BIOS that did work. Use the forum flasher >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
    and report your findings to MSI so that they can fix it and potentially release the BIOS that you are hoping for    If everyone reports their findings then the chances are so much better to get a fix sooner rather than later.

  • Problem with downgrading bios. MSI P67A-GD65 (B3).

    Hi!
    I'm having problems with downgrading my bios from version 4.3 to 1.19. I want to downgrade, because 4.3 doesn't want to boot when I use xmp settings for my RAM ( that might be related to my CPU since I have i5 2500k which is 32nm and 4.3 version of BIOS is recommended for 22nm processors ). When I try to flash with the MSI Forum HQ USB Flashing Tool I'm getting an error: "Rom file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID". I've ran out of ideas how to downgrade my bios so I'm asking you for help. My specs:
    MOBO: MSI P67A-GD65 (B3)
    CPU: INTEL CORE i5 2500K
    RAM: G.SKILL RIPJAWS X 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHZ CL6 (F3-12800CL6D-4GBXH)

    2X Western Digital VelociRaptor WD1500HLFS 150GB in RAID0 running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
    This was supposed to be my dream computer, but it has turned into a nightmare! It locks up constantly.  Usually the mouse pointer will disappear and the computer will just freeze up.  This normally seems to occur after the computer has been idle for a while.  I have read that there might be compatibility issues with the MSI P67A-GD65 and the GTX 570 video cards.  Can anyone confirm this?  Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?  The only thing event viewer is showing is the unexpected shutdown when I have to power cycle it.  Thanks in advance!

    Exactly which SATA ports are you using for the HDD's & RAID? White Marvell or Intel SATA III, or the black SATA II? 
    Unfortunately, my local shop didn't have the Crucial, so I grabbed the Corsair instead.  The Velociraptors are running from SATA 1 and 2 (the top white connectors).  I also have 2X HITACHI Deskstar 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s running in RAID0 from SATA 3 and 4 for storage (this computer is intended for HD video editing, compositing in After Effects, etc.).  Sorry I forgot to mention that in the original post!

  • Blank Screen and flashing cursor on new build-P67A GD65 (B3). Help needed.

    As per the title, a computer was built for me with the following specs:
    CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k
    Cpu Cooler: Arctic Freezer xtreme Rev 2.0,
    Motherboard: MSI P67A – GD65 (B3)
    PSU: Super-Flower Amazon 550W
    RAM: 4GB G.Skill RipJaws-X, DDR3, 1600
    HDD: 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 7200rpm
    Graphics Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 Xtreme - 1 GB GDDR5
    Disc Drive: Samsung SH-223C DVD+RW
    Case: Cooler Master 690 II LITE Midi-Tower
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
    Everything went ok with the build and installation of the OS. Computer was booting ok. When I took the computer home that evening, powered it on and a blank screen with a flashing cursor on top left hand corner appeared. Tried several times but failed to boot up properly. Just to note that I can enter into the BIOS and it recognizes HDD, processor, Disk Drive and RAM. What I have done so far (of course with advice from computer experts as compared to me) are the following:
    1. I removed all the parts except cpu and cooler then put them back. When I restarted a message appeared that win7 need to do a repair. It went thro the process and then it stated it can’t do repair. Did this twice. When I restarted the third time, a blank screen with the blinking cursor appeared again.
    2. Cleared the BIOS using the button on the outside of the motherboard and also once using the jumpers inside the motherboard. After doing this, I pressed on the “”ON” button several times (with no power on to the computer) to dissipate any current that was left there.
    3. Interchanged the RAM on different slots. Also tried using only 1 stick of Ram at a time.
    4. Checked the HDD on another machine and it was ok. Formatted the HDD on the other machine, plugged onto new machine and tried to install OS again but no joy.
    At this point, I’m now stuck after almost a month when the machine was built. Would it be the motherboard? RAM? etc. Just wondering if I should RMA the motherboard since it is just over a month when it was delivered.
    A point to note, there is a message that comes up when it is booting stating no HDD is detected. I googled this but found out it was to do with a marvel adapter that needs to be disabled or something like that. However, it was mentioned that this wasn’t going to affect the performance of the pc as the BIOS can detect all the components.
    I also noticed that when I switch on the pc, there is a small pause before it kicks on then there is a long beep followed by 2 small beeps. I presume this is normal.
    Any help on this will be highly appreciated?

    Disable EuP 2013 & that should take care of the pause. The beeps are normal at startup. Only time I have observed a blank screen & blinking cursor is if the system wasn't getting enough juice to initialize, or their was insufficient power in an OC attempt. What kind of +12V amps does that PSU you have provide?

  • Overclocking an i7-2700k on P67A-GD65

    So I tried Overclocking yesterday after watching a guide on YouTube.. It seemed pretty easy on a sandy bridge so I thought I'd give it a try. I went into bios changed the CPU voltage to 1.35, changed the CPU multiplier to 45, and enabled XMP profile, I then saved settings and rebooted. Windows booted up fine, turned on prime 95 and opened up real temp and ran prime 95 to make sure CPU temps stayed below 70C. One core managed to reach 70 but other than that everything was gone so Im assuming everything was stable and good. I reboot my pc and you know how when you install new ram or CPU, while rebooting for the first time it says new CPU installed etc? Well that popped up and I got curious so I went into bios and everything went back to default again. So I set up it up All over again, saved and rebooted and now I'm getting a blue screen. So I reboot go into bios and notice my sata isn't set to AHCI. So I set it and reboot. Widows loads again... I then reboot again and I get a blue screen.. Also noticing my motherboard light is flashing. I check the manual and it told me that one of my bios profiles failed. I looked up how to fix it online and managed to fix it. The light disappeared, went into bios tried to oc it again... Saved.. Rebooted light started flashing.. Windows booted up fine. I then restarted... And the comp restarted on its own a few times during post. I fix the light flashing set everything to default and now I'm clueless as to why this is happening to me. Do any of you have any ideas why??!

    I just stopped the Prime95 and the final 4 highest temps were 66  73 74 71. That's too high huh?

  • HELP! My 2011 MSI P67A-GD65 (B3) build suddenly refuses to boot

    Hello, I am new to this forum because I hadn't had any troubles yet.
    I built my system in July/August 2011. Here's what it has:
    MSI P67A-GD65 (B3)
    Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge CPU
    16GB Corsair Vengeance 240-pin DDR3 1600
    650w Corsair Enthusiast PSU
    MSI N460GTX Cyclone 1GD5/OC GeForce Graphics Card
    1x 2TB Hitachi 7K3000 7200RPM SATA 6 GB/s (With Windows 7 64-bit installed)
    2x 3TB Seagate 7200RPM SATA 6 GB/s (For storage)
    I have used this computer for graphics and video editing...it has served me faithfully. Yesterday evening while editing a Word document, I got "do you want to save your changes before exiting?" and of course I said yes. Then to my surprise my computer proceeded to shut down and reboot. At first I thought maybe I missed a Windows Update message telling me it would reboot in xxx minutes so I was not alarmed. But then as I watched it reboot, it gave me the POST message that there was no disc drive recognized. I thought that was weird since I never noticed it before. But then after the BIOS screen with the MSI graphics thing I was faced with a blank screen except for a flashing cursor two inches from the top of the screen. When I realized that this wasn't going to leave, I got a bit worried so I did a reset through my tower's button and same thing happened...I unplugged everything and let it sit for a few minutes... restarted 10 minutes later....same thing. Did it again and then went into my BIOS to look around. It showed no HDD's connected and I had 3 hooked up. I was concerned my HDD went bad so I connected it to another pc and accessed it with no trouble as another storage...I was happy my files are all there. So then I reconnected to my original build and got the same POST message, but this time the drives were visible in BIOS....but still no boot.
    I have another blank SATA HDD so I removed all my HDD's and connected it by itself along with my SATA DVD drive and I tried to do a clean Win7 install on it. But at the point in the install process where it asks WHERE you want to install Windows, no drives showed up. So that door was closed. I tried the same thing again after swapping SATA port locations, thinking 1 was defective, but I got the same treatment from all of them...nothing recognized during the install process, although the drives are showing up in BIOS....
    I think I know why the POST message is saying 'no drives detected,' though...I read it is saying that based on the SATA ports being used...I have 8 SATA's on my MOBO...4 6gb/s; 4 3gb/s. 7-8 are 6gb/s and ONLY when I have a HDD plugged into one of them does it show on the POST screen...which I still think is weird, and seems to have just started happening last night with the rest of the problems...but I could live with that since I could disable the message in BIOS I think.
    But I have tried to clear the CMOS...all three ways...jumper, button, battery. I reset BIOS thru BIOS.... Nothing changes. BTW, in BIOS I ran a RAM memory check and it passed. Besides, I am not hearing any weird beeps...related to that....
    I don't know why this would happen after working perfectly for 2 years... And why would it politely shut down in the beginning of the process anyways? I mean...I appreciated being asked to save my changes...but I don't know what else to do...PLEASE OFFER SUGGESTIONS...any help is appreciated.

    EDIT: BTW, I have also tried unplugging everything from the pc except for the DVI and power plug in case that was interferring....

    It mostly works if the components used aren't too special. As you have no RAID setup it should work. However you will need to reactivate Windows once it made it. Of course you will also need all drivers for the new machine. Be aware that you might not be able to connect to the internet before you installed the proper driver for the ethernet adapter.

  • For Those Experiencing the Infinite Boot Loop on P67A-GD65

    My story in a nutshell - bought the original (non B3) P67A-GD65 from Newegg on the first day it was available along with 8 GB (2X4 GB) Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 ram and Intel i5 2500k processor.  Received the items, hooked them up on a test bench (rubber mb supports so no grounding issues) along with a Corsair VX-550 P/S (both 24 pin and 8 pin leads plugged in), GTX-460 video card (2 PCI-E 6 pin connectors plugged in), the default Intel i5 heatsink and a known good USB KB and mouse.  Promptly experienced the infinite loop boot issue others have described - fans on h/s and video card spin up, 1st APS LED lights for a fraction of a second then all 6 light up for 3 to 4 seconds then APS LEDs go out and fans on h/s and video card spin down.  No beeps from speaker and no video signal to monitor.  After everything has stopped spinning (about 3 to 4 seconds), the power comes back on and the cycle repeats exactly the same way every time until I turn off the power supply.  Here is what I tried:
    1.  Used only 1 stick of ram (tried in all 4 slots)
    2.  Pulled 1 stick of DDR3-1600 ram from my working X58 system (again tried in all 4 slots)
    3.  Different power supply (OCZ 520-ADJ)
    4.  Known good PCI video card instead of GTX-460 (in case there was some problem with power draw)
    Under each of these changes, the same infinite boot loop occurred.  Called tech support, they walked me through each step I had already tried and finally suggested I RMA both the MB and the CPU to Newegg.  Did so and the replacements worked fine from the start.
    Then came the B2 stepping issue.  Notified both Newegg and MSI that I had one of the B2 boards.  Newegg notified me they had the new B3 boards in stock.  Arranged for cross shipment where they would ship me the new board and then I would return the old one.  Received the new one last Friday.  Put it on the same test bench as above and the same infinite boot loop is now happening on the new B3 stepping board.  Just to test, put the cpu, ram and GTX-460 video card back into the B2 stepping board and everything works perfectly.
    Another test, since some people reported the infinite loop problem when they had failed to plug in the 8 Pin power lead to the mb, I unplugged the 8 pin connector on the working B2 stepping board.  The infinite loop problem is entirely different in this case.  When you press the power switch, the fans start to spin and the first LED lights for less than a second.  Then the LED goes off and the fans start to spin down.  After everything has stopped, it repeats until the power supply is turned off.
    This is my first MSI motherboard after 15 years of Abit and Asus with the occasional Gigabyte or EVGA thrown in and I am not happy with the QC I have experienced with this board!
    So to summarize, 2 of the 3 P67A-GD65 boards I received from Newegg have had this infinite boot loop problem.  Apparently, I have to RMA again.  Am I lucky or what???!!!

    Frankly, I can understand your frustrations on the problem but it is not fair to judge a brand by looking at the number of complains in a forum. I can guarantee you, there are more RMAs out there from all other manufacturers even before an user even knows that a Forum ever exist for them to post for enquiry and most of them aren't an IT engineer or hardware engineer by self.
    If you want to compare, I have also been in this industry for more than 15 years and I have many DOA boards from other manufacturers as well and DOAs after RMAs are common to me. When you handle thousands of PCs, laptops and mainframes, such things are really common.
    Back to your problem. Maybe I didn't make it clear on how I want to describe on my previous post for your issue in words. I am referring to having a chance to let the system boot into BIOS or past BIOS after multiple times of rebooting, then you can try to flash the BIOS. This is also not uncommon as I have encountered systems which are problematic but are able to boot into Windows after 15 to 20 times of infinite reboots by itself.
    How about processor? Tested it in another system yet? Or is this another unless suggestion to you?

  • MSI P67A-GD65 infinite boot/loop problem

    installed everything into my case and go to boot into the UEFI and nothing !
    i press the power switch, everything starts fine and the fans spin up and the LED's on the board are fine, waits 5 secs then it shuts itself off and tries the exact same process again. it keeps doing this until i cut the power !
    i've checked the 24pin etc, KB & mouse r fine, 2 different sets off RAM in every slot, cleared CMOS (i think).
    seems like a very common problem with this board after a bit of googling !!

    the only things i have changed today are, put the new notcua fan in my case, changed the Motherboard and CPU from and Asus M4A78LT-M & Athlon II X4 640 to MSI P67A-GD65 (b3) & intel core i7 2600k. Also, put the alpenfohn matterhorn on today.
    everything is confirmed working apart from the CPU & Motherboard. everything worked yesterday, but i didnt have the necessary equipment to test the motherboard or cpu before using them together (today)

  • MSI P67 GD65 and 1600mhz RAM

    Picked up a MSI P67a-GD65 to replace my faulty (and by faulty, not SATA port faulty)Gigabyte UD3P.  Anyways.  I had a stable overclock of 4.7ghz on that board so I assumed w/ close voltages Id hit that on this board.  Ive spent the last 2 days trying to get it stable to no avail.  Dropped the speed to 4.5ghz even w/ same voltages and nothing.
    Finally I dropped my RAM speed from 1600mhz c8 to 1333 c9.  System is stable at 4.7 no problem now.  The ram has been used for awhile without any issues on 2 other boards (P55a-UD3 and P67a-UD3P) and memtest checks out.  Is there a problem w/ the 1600mhz strap on this board?  Ive read other people have issues with certain RAM speeds as well (although it varys).  Specs below!

    Alrighty everyone, so this might end up being a fairly lengthy article, but I want to make sure I give you all of the information so you can correctly assess.
    Earlier in the year, I decided that I needed a desktop for college. I had seen people do it before and I was fairly adept at computers, so I put the computer together with the above components from newegg.
    Originally, I put the desktop together in about five hours and hooked it up. Worked great, except on startup it gave (and still gives) me an error of saying "No Hard Disk Detected", however the opposite could not be truer as it found my hard drive when I loaded the OS; Windows 7. I then tested it that night with Starcraft II and it worked great; no minor bugs, nothing. The following day, I pull all of my games/programs on it including skype. Here is where things started to get weird. On Borderlands, everything went great and without a hitch, however when I started Civilization V, after playing for about an hour, it froze. And this freeze froze everything; the keyboard, the monitor, the mouse, etc. A buzzing sound came from the speakers and a hard restart was necessary. This freeze also happened again during the Multiplayer for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Starcraft II (after about an hour), League of Legends and even Skype, while using my webcam. Also, in the Windows reliability program and windows events, no freeze is registered.
    So I thought "oh, this is obviously overheating or a voltage problem" (the cpu temps were getting between 85-90 C's). So I fixed the RAM's voltage so it fit exactly what it needed (it required 1.65 volts, but the auto detect only gave it 1.5, so it was around .15 off). While waiting for the fan and thermal paste to come, I reinstalled Windows 7, reinstalled the drivers for all of my components and checked event viewer (which I ended up needlessly fixing an event 3011 and 3012 for corrupt performance readers).
    My fan and paste came in yesterday and applied both, making my cpu super-cooled leveling off at a max of 50 C's at full load and 25-30 C's idling. The hottest component is now the GPU which usually hits 65-70 C's under full load.
    At this point, I figured "great, I have been freeze-free for 2 days, let's retest", so I played two games of league of legends last night (around 1.5 hours) on skype and it froze. Again. Once I restarted my desktop to let everyone know what happened (and loaded skype and rejoined the conversation) I only got in two words before it froze again.
    In summary, basically under stress, especially under games/programs requiring the internet, the computer has a full freeze, requiring a hard reset. I tried to fix the voltages (RAM) as well as cool the computer, which seemed to work only for a short while. Further once the computer freezes, whenever I turn it back on, it is more prone to freezing unless I leave it off overnight.
    I'm not even necessarily looking for an answer, just an idea of where to start. Thanks again, I would really appreciate some help on this one.

    Update: I used Prime95 to test it as well as Intel Burn Test. No freeze during IBT, and for Prime95 it usually gets hit on the In-Place Large FFT or Blend Test. Hasn't frozen on Small FFT. I also just updated the the mobo's BIOS again to the latest one. Also, with the update, if I put the RAM's voltage at 1.65 (or anything above Auto), it won't boot the OS.
    Any ideas welcome.

    However, I AM willing to check the c-state, but I will need some information first to make sure my desktop won't explode if I do this wrong.
    1) What does the C-State do?
    2) How do I disable it?
    3) Is this really an option I should check into?

    It won't help you with your problem but I've tested C-state for a while and you can read what it will do in the link HU16E provided. I've noticed that in Idle state the usage of power drops a couple of watts, so when you have your PC in idle a lot of time and you care about power saving it's worth trying. When overclocking it can be unstable however. I have a CPU that handles all cores set to 46 with all energy settings on and auto Vcore completely stable, when going to 47 I have to compensate. The first thing I have to do is disable C-State because it will BSOD when in idle for a while. So I will suggest that if you use stock settings and care about power saving you try it and otherwise disable it.
