P67A-GD65 (B3) - How to configure 3TB boot drive with W7 64bit

Hi,
I want to use my Deskstar 7K3000 3TB as boot drive for Windows 7 64 OS but every attempt i have made only gives me 2TB space even when I make the disk GPT partition  .
Can anyone give step-by-step instructions on how to set up the MB Bios and also the HD so that I get full use.?
MSI P67A-GD65 (B3)
Intel Core i7-2600K
2 x  2GB Mushkin PC3-10700H
NVIDIA GTX 570
Any ideas would be most appreciated
Ta.!

I believe a BIOS update to the latest version is needed. If like the one board I have, Infinity 2.2 (or something like that) had to be a BIOS option.

    Hi Jay SenSharma,
    Thanks for your immediate response.
I saw your URL links, But in your link give the recursive deployment using wlst. But my question is how to configure the oracle weblogic library files into Admin server & Managed Servers by using the wls.jar file through wlst script to create the new domain.
But if create the new domain by using GUI mode then we manually give the admin server port number & managed servers port number and name.
By default the library files are configured with the Admin server in GUI mode. But the Managed server the Library files are not configured with the Managed servers. Then we manually select all the library files to the corresponding managed servers. Then only the applications are deployed into the corresponding managed server.

Wi-Fi access can be limited using the Timed Access feature of the AirPort routers. You would do so using the AirPort Utility.

If it is in the Purchases tab of the App Store, you should be able to download it.

I have an Ipad, I activated the time capsule with no issues. I added the airport Utility application without issue.  However, I do not know how to access the hard drive with either my Windows computer or the Ipad.  Does someone know how?

On windows load the airport utility .. latest correct version as possible.. there is no windows 8 but win7 works after a fashion.
Make sure the TC is using SMB compatible names.. short no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
Type the name directly into windows explorer.
    \\TCname or \\TCIPaddress
If no luck turn off all the firewalls.. internal windows plus security software plus whatever other gargyoles and other rubbish AV software you have running.
Ensure windows is able to at least ping the TC by IP address and name..
Use the utility in windows to set file sharing to guest account on with full read and write access.. and set workgroup to WORKGROUP.

  • P67A-GD65 (B3) How to get rid of the boot screen

The issue is what the topic title says.
I'd like to see just POST info on boot, don't need any image. Is it possible with the GD65 UEFI BIOS?

It's amazing how manufacturers can fool users sometimes with such tricks. English manual is much more full and descriptive than international/multilanguage one.
But I wonder how could I miss that option while I was setting boot sequence for my system
Thanks a lot, problem has been solved now.

  • HELP! My 2011 MSI P67A-GD65 (B3) build suddenly refuses to boot

Hello, I am new to this forum because I hadn't had any troubles yet.
I built my system in July/August 2011. Here's what it has:
    MSI P67A-GD65 (B3)
Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge CPU
    16GB Corsair Vengeance 240-pin DDR3 1600
    650w Corsair Enthusiast PSU
MSI N460GTX Cyclone 1GD5/OC GeForce Graphics Card
    1x 2TB Hitachi 7K3000 7200RPM SATA 6 GB/s (With Windows 7 64-bit installed)
    2x 3TB Seagate 7200RPM SATA 6 GB/s (For storage)
I have used this computer for graphics and video editing...it has served me faithfully. Yesterday evening while editing a Word document, I got "do you want to save your changes before exiting?" and of course I said yes. Then to my surprise my computer proceeded to shut down and reboot. At first I thought maybe I missed a Windows Update message telling me it would reboot in xxx minutes so I was not alarmed. But then as I watched it reboot, it gave me the POST message that there was no disc drive recognized. I thought that was weird since I never noticed it before. But then after the BIOS screen with the MSI graphics thing I was faced with a blank screen except for a flashing cursor two inches from the top of the screen. When I realized that this wasn't going to leave, I got a bit worried so I did a reset through my tower's button and same thing happened...I unplugged everything and let it sit for a few minutes... restarted 10 minutes later....same thing. Did it again and then went into my BIOS to look around. It showed no HDD's connected and I had 3 hooked up. I was concerned my HDD went bad so I connected it to another pc and accessed it with no trouble as another storage...I was happy my files are all there. So then I reconnected to my original build and got the same POST message, but this time the drives were visible in BIOS....but still no boot.
I have another blank SATA HDD so I removed all my HDD's and connected it by itself along with my SATA DVD drive and I tried to do a clean Win7 install on it. But at the point in the install process where it asks WHERE you want to install Windows, no drives showed up. So that door was closed. I tried the same thing again after swapping SATA port locations, thinking 1 was defective, but I got the same treatment from all of them...nothing recognized during the install process, although the drives are showing up in BIOS....
I think I know why the POST message is saying 'no drives detected,' though...I read it is saying that based on the SATA ports being used...I have 8 SATA's on my MOBO...4 6gb/s; 4 3gb/s. 7-8 are 6gb/s and ONLY when I have a HDD plugged into one of them does it show on the POST screen...which I still think is weird, and seems to have just started happening last night with the rest of the problems...but I could live with that since I could disable the message in BIOS I think.
But I have tried to clear the CMOS...all three ways...jumper, button, battery. I reset BIOS thru BIOS.... Nothing changes. BTW, in BIOS I ran a RAM memory check and it passed. Besides, I am not hearing any weird beeps...related to that....
I don't know why this would happen after working perfectly for 2 years... And why would it politely shut down in the beginning of the process anyways? I mean...I appreciated being asked to save my changes...but I don't know what else to do...PLEASE OFFER SUGGESTIONS...any help is appreciated.
Thank you in advance...I hope someone can help me! I am still covered by warranty...but I want to do this right.
    Thanks!
    Marie
EDIT: BTW, I have also tried unplugging everything from the pc except for the DVI and power plug in case that was interferring....

    Quote
On a slightly different topic...would it work (I have never done this!) to take my OS HDD and boot it on another PC? I am thinking this would not work because of system files and etc., but I have always wondered this and now would be the best time for me to know
It mostly works if the components used aren't too special. As you have no RAID setup it should work. However you will need to reactivate Windows once it made it. Of course you will also need all drivers for the new machine. Be aware that you might not be able to connect to the internet before you installed the proper driver for the ethernet adapter.

  • How to reset 3TB fusion drive to original partition scheme

When I first purchased my 27" iMac in early 2013 I was unable to use Boot Camp to create a Windows partition (with the version of OSX it shipped with bootcamp was initially disabled but added in an update later).  I found a guide online for untangling the Fusion Drive partitions and essentially setting up bootcamp manually.
However, a few days ago I had Windows 8 get screwed up and needed to reformat.  I figured that since Apple now updated Mavericks to allow my machine to use bootcamp I would start from scratch and do it properly.  The problem is, I cannot seem to get my machine back into a "factory default" setup.  I tried removing the CoreStorage volume and letting the Disk Utility tool "reset" the drive, and that -seemed- to work.  I had one 3TB partition (according to the GUI) and re-installed OSX.  I used Bootcamp to split 2TB for Windows (games) and leave 1TB for Mac.  Everything went fine and I restarted into the Win8 installer.  However, at this point Windows refused to install to the 2TB partition.  I tried formatting it, and delete/create but it said it couldn't install to that partition.  The confusing part is that according to Windows I had about 8 partitions (EFI and Recovery I understand but the rest I don't know the reason for).
So now I'm back at the OSX Recovery and this is what "diskutil list" is giving me.  Why are there all these 524.3 KB partitions?  I can't seem to remove or merge them.  I know I should have recorded what the original structure is, but it's too late now.  Can someone tell me what the 3TB Fusion Drive *should* look like, and how I can get back to that?

  • How to Repartition 3TB Fusion Drive?

Hi, I've noticed an interesting phenomenon of my iMac, which has a 3TB fusion drive. The phenomenon is that the fusion drive has a 2.2 TB + 800GB partitions. I understand fusion drive is actually a 128GB flash drive plus a 2.87GB hard drive. Then why is the fusion drive divided into a 2.2 TB and a 800 GB partitions?
Anyways, that was just my curiosity. I have a practical question. I am trying to install Windows 8.1 on this iMac to do some development/environment testing works. I realized when I use Boot Camp 5.1, it will not let me install Windows 8.1 successfully. The error is when I head to Windows installation, formatted the Boot Camp partition to NTFS (or simply just format it), it will keep telling me:
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed GPT disks"
I then tried making a USB bootable disk through UNetBootin. It tells me the same thing. I don't have a CD or DVD drive on my iMac, so I cannot try burning a DVD. So then I started my research about this error.
And it seems to be a common error based on my research. The solution is that I should remove the bootcamp partition from Boot Camp Assistant and then use the Disk Utility to create a new partition for Windows. I did the first part, but then I head to the Disk Utility, it says:
"The full size of the Fusion Drive is not available for repartitioning."
I restarted the computer, and it tells me the same message.
Now I guess I have two questions, answering either one can help me through my goal.
    1. How to create partitions on a 3TB fusion drive?
    2. How to install Windows 8.1 on a Boot Camp partition?

Hey I meant to answer my own question! Thanks for reminding me.
A good reference link is on Super User where some other users already answered methods for Macbook Pro. Here is the link:
    http://superuser.com/questions/481650/cant-use-bootcamp-partition-for-windows-8- installation/846439#846439
I am going to copy my reply from the thread. Here we go:
I was stuck with this challenge last night as well. After 10 hours, I finally have resolved this. As it turns out, not all OSX are the same. For example, I have Macbook Pro Retina, iMac, and Mac Pro. ClaitonLovatoJr's solution works on Macbook Pro Retina but not iMac or Mac Pro.
    Here is why:
iMac (2014) and Mac Pro (2014) have different types of hard-drive. So far I haven't gotten Mac Pro to work, because it has the most particular type of hard-drive, perhaps Windows simply does not support. But again, I haven't tried for very long.
On iMac, here is how you can get Windows 8.1 (Professional) to install.
Since late 2012, iMac have fusion drive, which means its hard-drive is combined with SSD and traditional hard-drive. As a result, Apple has an interesting way to manage it. I am not going to the details. In short, EFI would not work with the hardware, so we must go through Apple's Boot Camp.
The first thing to do is to find a USB flash drive. Many people including me failed because we try to use SD card. This won't work because SD card is too advance for what we are doing. It will load the install program, but after loading it becomes all Windows, and then it will fail the installation. So what we need is an old fashion flash drive. I tried using SD card adapter, it failed too. It might have something to do with the type of adapter I have. But to be safe, we should USE FLASH DRIVE.
Then we will create an installation stick with Boot Camp Assistant. Be sure to use the latest 5.1 version. And we must check downloading from Apple, because it will give you drivers you need to complete the installation. If downloading failed for some reason, we can download the files here:
    http://supportdownload.apple.com/download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Appl e_Software_Updates/Mac_OS_X/downloads/031-3384.20140211.Xcc3e/BootCamp5.1.5621.z ip
And then manually place the files to the installation disk.
I suggest not to check install just yet, in case you need to manually place the file.
Now we can finally use Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows. We must use it because Boot Camp is the only application that can create usable disk space for the installation. Disk Utility or other type of applications will not work. Apple has a very specific design for the hybrid EFI-MBR system for iMac's fusion drive.
Then the computer should restart, and very likely to stuck in black screen. Don't panic, this is because there is a bug in Apple's Boot Camp loading system. The wait time is too short, if you have many devices connected it will not load correctly. We can power off the computer by holding the power button and then power up while holding option key.
Now we cannot choose EFI-Windows when booting up, we must choose Windows. EFI is faster and more advance, but we cannot use it.
Now we should be able to boot into the installation interface, a very lowres one. If you see a highres interface it means it went to the EFI. Power down and try again. If you don't see the lowres interface, something went wrong. Boot into OSX and remove Windows through Boot Camp Assistant (actually just to kill the new partition), and then redo everything.
If you are in lowres interface, it's not all done yet. You still need to format the new partition, either just by clicking on format or using command center. Now you should be able to install!
After installation we can set up Windows, but it will die and reboot. Don't panic, because iMac is not design for Windows. Windows thought it had some hardware failure. And then we will be able to login after rebooting, but it will stuck for a long period of time - like 20 to 30 minutes. This is because it needs to download and set up some drivers for the odd environment it encountered. Finally, we will see pop up to encourage us to install Boot Camp on Windows. We don't have to. We can always use option key went starting the computer. But it's up to you.
When shutting down Windows sometime it will fail and give you errors, this is because Windows ultimately does not work with Apple's driver very well (fusion drive or other hardware). No worry, just power down by holding the power button.
    Hopefully this help!

  • 3TB boot drive, can only use 2TB. Cannot allocate space?

I have bought Sabertooth x79 motherboard, I installed 3 tb seagate drive in it, i was trying to install windows 7 64 bit on that drive but when i partition it there is 746.5 gb space is left unallocated, that space is useless even after complete windows
    isntallation.
I have tried on uefi only, uefi and legacy and legacy only but it didn't workout.
I was doing partition after converting hdd to gpt.
Thankyou in advance for your help

You must be using the UEFI mode of the system configuration BIOS.
The HDD must be a GPT disk, MBR is limited to the 2tb.
    See info @
http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-1923415/install-windows-3tb-4tb-larger-hdd.html for the procedure.  There are many more examples on the internet.  Just search for
Install Windows on 3TB hard drive
You must also install from the DVD unless you do a special configuration of the USB Flash Drive for UEFI installation.  See info @

You can also search the Microsoft website for links on install windows on 3tb hdd.
When I installed mine I let the Windows installation program do all the partitioning.

  • How to configure one TREX host with multiple index servers ?

    Hi All,
Does anyone know how to configure TREX on the one host,
    with multiple index servers ?
Reason for this is to make better use of resources available on the host server(4 Gig, 4 Processor, Windows2003), to improve the search performance of
our KM content for portal users.
I am using TREX 7 and have not been able to do this,
despite reading the Single and Distributed install
    documentation.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Andres

    Hi Andres,
    To make use of the RAM a Server provides you have to run two indexserver processes (each can then consume 2 GB);
    Proceed like this:
    1. Go to TREXdeamon.ini; check if section [indexserver2] is there (it is already provided, but not active in standard installation)
    2. In TREXdeamon.ini go to
    [daemon]
    references sections below
    programs=nameserver,preprocessor1,indexserver1,queueserver,alertserver
and add indexserver2 here. Restart TREX; second porcess is then started; can be checked in TREX monitor in Portal as well
    3. To distribute existing indexes to the new process, start TREXadmintool and go to Index: Landscape
Go to the last two columns and move the indexes (move master here/secondary mouse click)
If you don't distribute the indexes the new index server process will be regarded when an new index is created.
    Hope this helps!
    cheers
    Bettina
