P67A-GD65 (b3) Windows 8.1 UEFI BIOS

Any updates to the subject MB beta BIOS so far?
After I've upgraded the OS to 8.1 I've got a watermark on my wallpaper saying something like "Secureboot isn't configured correctly" (translation from Russian).
I'm using E7681IMS.439 currently.
Thanks.

I contacted MSI regarding this same issue about a month ago, before 8.1 was publicly released, though regarding Z68A-GD55 (G3)
And it seems they're unwilling to do anything about it.
Maybe we can make them reevaluate this if more end users requests a fix for this issue.

Might just need to hold tight and hope for a new bios that supports this feature which may or may not happen.
Best to contact MSI and request this happen:

  • P67A-GD65 (B3 ) & Windows 7 64Bit Boot Issue

    Hi,
I feel the need to revisit this old forum post as I do not believe it has been fully resolved:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=156082.0
In summary the issue is "Most times the machine boots and performs flawlessly for hours, but often it boots with the Windows-7 “need to repair” screen and after running repair for a while Windows says: “Windows cannot repair the problem”…….but when I press the Reset button, the PC boots and runs just fine".
I only had the problem since updating from 1F beta 2 to the latest BIOS version. On the original forum thread there are some that had the view that the issue was introduced around BIOS version 1.F (full release, non-beta) and 1.G. Just to confirm this issue NEVER happened for me on 1F beta 2 or earlier BIOS releases. The original forum also has some people saying the issue did not exist on earlier BIOS versions as well.
Most people seem to have solved the issue by either resetting the CMOS or loading default BIOS settings. I tried this and it did initially solve the problem for me.
BUT when I installed new drivers (such as nvidia v301.24) or added new hardware (e.g. Bigfoot PCIe network gaming card) the problem came back.
This implies to me that there is an issue with the BIOS and that resetting the CMOS is a workaround rather than a true fix.
This leaves me with two choices:
    - use an older BIOS, which is ok but limits me from the new functionality in the BIOS (including not being able to use certain hardware that the BIOS updates support)
    - resetting the CMOS after loading new drivers or installing new hardware and then configure my settings (which is very tedious)
Neither option is ideal to me.
The main purpose of raising this issue is to ask whether MSI Support know of this issue and have it on their bug list to fix?
I am concerned it is not being addressed as other forum entries talk about BIOS version 1.K3 being the last version.
My system details are P67-GD65(B3), Windows 7 64bit, 16GB Gskill 2133Mhz memory, 2 SSD, 2HDD, Nvidia 570 GTX, Bigfoot network gaming card.

Thank you _MELK_ for bringing us your experience.
It was already reported that this bug did not appear with older firmware versions.
It is interesting to know that version 1.14 does not have this bug.
This information should help the MSI support team to create a 1.K reliable firmware.
In my opinion, I do not think that Intel RST is the cause of this bug.
    Sure thing momosala..
An update to this issue is as follow...
BIOS 1.14 fixed this issue completely. NO errors since I flashed back to it.   I also reinstalled Intel RST without any issue either.
Note that I wanted 1.19 for another reason as well (fix for USB 3.0 port issues).  I wound up flashing the chipset for the USB ports themselves instead  .    Now the MB works as intended!  :D
WARNING: use the info below with CAUTION (not simple to do, and not provided/supported by MSI afaik)
INFO on USB 3.0 firmware/drivers -- again, use CAUTION and do your research before proceeding!
Note that it took me a few hours to complete the flash since I had to research which version of the chipset I had (hardware ID helped, LOTS of reading on the subject as well to find out HOW to flash my board properly).
You can find the drivers/firmware for the "Renesa USB 3.0 Host controller" by searching google for
    Driver: Renesas/Nec Usb 3.0 Version 3.0.23.0/2.1.39.0 WHQL.
I used the 2.1.39.0 drivers -- you'll find the firmware at the same place and an explanation on how to flash the chipset we have on the P67A-GD65 (which has TWO identical chips to flash).  The new firmware updater doesn't work on those, so you need to download an older firmware to use the older DOS program to flash with the newer .MEM files.

  • Z68A-GD65 (G3)+Windows 7 (64)+UEFI+3TB

I have a 3TB drive I can boot from. I installed windows 7 using uefi and GPT on the HD.  I can restart and boot no problem after a clean install and when I install the provided SVGA drivers it will boot up to the windows logo screen where it comes from the back ground and then restart and loop from there.  The only thing I have been able to load so far are the chipset drivers provided before causing the loop.
Is this a BIOS problem? I'm stumped as to a work around after installing windows 10 times today I'm ready to jump in front of a bus lol.

    Quote
I am curious about this, how come it all works with out a hitch if I don't use uefi.
That is something unknown to me. I can't try to duplicate, as the biggest HDD I have or use is 2TB for storage. Recommendations & suggestions are all I can offer, if an 'exact' cause & cure was known to me, it would be given. On paper, the PSU you have should have sufficient amps on it's two +12V rails to power the system. As it sounds like you don't have access to other components you can borrow or test with, makes it difficult. Faced with the same situation, I would probably strongly consider putting the OS on a smaller HDD, & use the 3TB for storage, but I can understand wanting to get it to work as it states it should be possible.
At this point, it is recommended to give official MSI Tech Support a jingle with a support ticket & see what they have to say; http://support.msi.com
If you would like to try X.M.P. to see if it helps, the setting is in the UEFI/BIOS OC Section. Just enable it & see how it goes. It can always be disabled again. To set the Command Rate, (CR), change the Memory Mode from Auto to 'Link'. Then, just below it, will be the DRAM Configuration. Enter & check to see if the value is set to 1 or 2. If 1, set it to 2. Other items to disable, Spread Spectrum, & in Power Management, disable EuP 2013. Take some time to fully browse your UEFI/BIOS. There are a lot of items to explore. Another tip, In Security, sub-section Settings, enable Multi BIOS Auto Update.

  • Z77A-GD65 Does "Windows 8 Feature" in BIOS disable CSM ?

I cant find anywhere in the Z77A-GD65 10.8 BIOS that has a option to Disable CSM
So if I have the "Windows 8 Feature" Enabled in BIOS does this do the same thing as Disabling CSM ?

    CSM = Compatibility Support Module
Usually you can use this to enable UEFI support for certain things, like everything but graphics - I used to use this on my previous boards to let me enable Windows 8 features. Was a bit gutted to find this wasn't an option with my Z87-G45.
Would also like to disable the Intel RAID menu from showing but can't seem to do that either :/ guess I just miss the ultra fast boot option from my old Gigabyte board.

  • P67A GD65 new beep on boot after bios upgrade [error sound]

    Hello,
I've just updated my bios (from 1.7 to 1.E) and I have now an additional beep at the start of the machine.
I was used to have 4 beeps at the same tone, then another one after a pause with a higher tone. But now i have a beep at the beggining with a lower tone, which really sounds like a problem.
I updated the bios this way :
    Downloading this zip http://www.msi.com/service/download/bios-17245.html
Unzipping and copying to usb key
Entering UEFI then Setting>M-Flash>Select one file to update bios, selection of the 1.E0 file.
Do i need to do something else ?
I've also tried to use LiveUpdate5, it updates to 1.D0, but same problem.

Yes, I have the same beeps. The middle beeps should be from how many USB devices the BIOS detected connected to your computer. Again this is normal. If you want to know exactly what each beep in the sequence means, contact MSI tech support and they should be able to tell you. I have also not been able to find any documentation as to what the beeps sequence actually stand for except for the middle beeps being USB devices connected. I really would not worry too much about it if your computer is booting correctly and loading into your OS. If that is the case, there is nothing wrong.

Non B3 version, as im aware ME can't be flashed,
therefor update to newest BIOS base isn't possible
Do not try MSI updater all in one .exe file, which would brick the board for sure for such case.
Although you can still have a try by safest flashing way,
    use this bios archive:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/28rdsq4lzzwmeyl/430.rar?dl=0
and try again using the >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<< mode 1 point to bios archive file as before
if can't be flashed it will through an error and will refuse to flash it
Hey Svet, thanks for the reply.....
Well im not quite sure what happened, my new GPU got delivered and i thought you what i'll install it to the board and see what happens, im sure it won't work but hey it's worth a try......
Well everything so far is working fine, GPU installed, drivers installed and i have tried a few games and they look great.
Could it be that the bios is flashed to 4.3 but its not showing on the screen?
    Thanks

  • P67A-GD65 (b3) bios 4.0 problems

Hello guys, this is my first message in this forum and I'm so excited
    Here is my problem:
After updating my bios, i can't get my old result@overclocking, i was using my CPU@4,5ghz but now i only have 3,8ghz stable. And my ram's have xmp problem, i can't activate xmp for g.skill ram's, it was ok before update but now... how can i solve this problem, anybody has this problem?

You should not have flashed 4.0 BIOS unless you intended to use Ivy Bridge CPU, in fact 4.0 is no longer available to flash.
There are beta BIOSs available for keyboard/mouse issues and other similar problems but 4.0 was only available for Ivy Bridge CPU support and that did not work out so good and 4.0 was removed from BIOS downloads at MSI shortly after it was released.
       >> P67A-GD65, GD55 and GD53 [MS-7681] - BIOS/UEFI-Click-BIOS: BETA Releases <<
Unfortunately I don't think there is any way you can flash to the earlier BIOS you had before. I imagine it could be done by a shop or MSI using JSPI1 but you can't flash it by USB yourself.

  • I have a question to HU16E about OCing for P67A-GD65 board

im currently struggling with OCing on P67A-GD65 B3 board.
it seems like 2600k going to 4.4GHz with 1.3 vcore fine.
but going over is bit confusing.
i noticed HU16E has gone over 5.0~ speed. do you mind to share which settings you put in the bios?
my goal is to go about 4.8-5.0GHz.
    thanks in advance :]

whoop sorry about that. i was just in hurry to have more stress tests.
these are the components that i have
    MSI P67A-GD65 B3 Board with 1.10 BIOS
    Intel 2600k Sandy Bridge D2
    Corsair H50 Liquid CPU Cooler
    4x4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz
    GeForce GTX570
i was able to OC 2600k up to 4.4GHz by just by upping the vcore to v1.300.
but i feel like going up to around 4.8 will need me to config all other voltages but i cant figure them out :S
im testing 4.5GHz with the same vcore ATM. but im sure it'll BSOD anytime soon
Imo enable int ppl set vcore to 1.4ish and go 48*100, if your lucky ull have 4800mhz stable, i use these settings didnt really change anything els and im getting 50*100, works perfectly.

  • New P67A-GD65 do not boot

    Hi.
I have just finished to install my new P67A-GD65 and it does not work.
I do not have the post screen, the screen stay black. But i got bips.
Bips are not clear, i think it's 4 shot, 1 long or something like that.
I had try to clear cmos, disconnect all non critical things, but nothing changed.
Anyone have the bips signification list ?
    Thanks.

Sorry, the thing i'd ask for is the bips documentation.
    Here it'is my full configuration.
    # CPU : Intel i5 2500k
    # Motherboard model : P67A-GD65 (MS-7681 Ver:2.0) Bios 1.4 (seen on the ships)
    # Memory : 2x2Go Kingston HyperX  DDR3 1600M (only one plug for testing)
    # Video card : Saphire, ATI Radeon 5770 Vapor-x.
    # Hard drive(s) brand : Western digital caviar black 500Go.
    # No Operating system.
    # Power Supply : Corsair HX - 650W
The hard drive, the power supply and the vidéo card are from an other computer, so i'am sure they work.
I have tried an other video card (an old ATI 1950). No change.
All power cables are pluged. Phases led (3 first) are on, the fourst blink.
And, as i sed before, no post screen, and 4 short bip and a long or 5 short... seems to have a little pause between the last bip and the others.

    enermax modu87+ 800w
    seagate sata2 1 tb hdd
    pioneer dvr-s19lbk dvd drive
    win7pro 64bit
as per topic, when I restart pc, it shuts down, waits 5 sec then powers on as normal. nothing appears to be wrong except this issue.
it used to work fine with another 2g memory stick(which wouldn't work at it's rated 1333 speed, but that's another story, and I highly suspect the memory stick in question is at fault).
oc genie is disabled of course.
all bios settings are at default, except following:
    boot order
ahci enabled for all sata connectors(hotswap disabled)
slight overclock with turboboost multiplier at 40 40 38 37
    memory set to 1866 2T 9 10 9 27 link, xmp disabled, dram voltage 1.536v.
I can pass a few hours of memtest86 at these settings, and except for restart issue, everything is fine.
I tried setting xmp on(with everything on auto). auto dram voltage was set to 1.632 in this case, which appears to be slightly excessive, and it didn't cure reboot problem anyway.
I tried apping dram voltage up to rated 1.65v with xmp off and manually set timings.
    I tried running at 1600mhz.
any idea what might cause shut down instead of reboot? any settings I should try?
might this be a bios problem? my mouse doesn't work with this bios, it used to work with 1d0 though.

    Quote from: HU16E on 15-September-11, 14:16:52
    Try 'disable' of EuP 2013.
thank you! that cured it, and now it restarts as it should, no issues.
I also tried your settings, and it didn't work "out of the box", so I went to my old ones, and changed to 1T, that should be enough for me anyway. I could play with the settings a little I guess, but changing some of them and hitting save causes the same behavior shutdown-wait-restart, and I'm not sure which ones do that.
dram frequency and sata mode for one do that, as intel vt-x/vt-d settings, not sure about timings, sometimes it shutdowns, sometimes restarts.
Quote from: NovJoe on 15-September-11, 23:26:24
How about restarting when the system is in stock settings?
sorry, didn't try that, even if that would work, there is no point for me.

This has bricked my board. Now what?
    My board is P67-GD53 b3.

    My first plan(?) is,
I am waiting arrival of air blow soldering rework station.
As soon as I receive, I will replace preprogrammed 4.37 BIOS chip.
I ordered two, but first I will replace PRIMARY one and try it.
If problem to update SECONDARY, I will replace SECONDARY with preprogrammed one.
    My second plan is,
    1. Waiting arrival of SPI programmer and SOP8 to DIP8 adapter.
    2. Waiting arrival of 10 Macronix MX25L6445EM2I-10G1 BIOS chip.
    3. Learn how to Program to the BIOS chip with SPI programmer, it's easier than expected.
I am engagaed in PLC & Inverter for commercial dry cleaning machine.
To support my customer, I will continuously using Windows 7x64 for Omron and Yaskawa, XPx32 for Mitsubishi with multibooting.
That's why I should keep Two P67A-GD65 Desktop and Two Lenovo E520 Laptop in good working condition.
One is main use and other one is just backup.
The reason is Windows 8 PC has some restriction to install other OS, because of Secure Boot.
    That's it.
PS: The official 4.20 BIOS is just BETA level BIOS.
I have PC experience during PC-XT, before PC I used NEC5200/05 PTOS(Personal Technology Oriented System).
I never had problem with BIOS flash with MSDOS, it was successful, but boot failure.

  • BIOS showing 2500K Locked & Cant adjust CPU ratio in Windows.. P67A-GD65

    Hello all..
I am not having any stability issues at all with my setup.. It is running great and I love the P67A-GD65..
However I am having an issue w/ CPU ratio adjustment..
I am running the 1.6 BIOS release from the 1.4 the board shipped with.. The issues remained on both BIOS versions..
I noticed in the CPU section the BIOS is seeing my 2500K as "LOCKED".. I can however adjust the CPU ratio manually in the OC section of the BIOS to achieve the overclock I want..
I enabled the "adjust cpu ratio from OS" option.. However the Control Center II software will not show me a dropdown to adjust the ratio in Windows 7 Pro 64bit.. So I have to make manual CPU ratio changes in the BIOS for now.. Control Center II does allow all other options to be changed.. Memory settings etc.. I just can't change the CPU ratio..
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Control Center app.. BIOS upgrade.. CMOS clear.. etc.. I suspect this is just a flaky BIOS issue..
Anyone else experiencing this? This is a minor inconvenience.. I can get everything I need out of the board from the BIOS I would just really like to use Control Center II for everything if possible..
    Thanks!!

Quote from: zsde on 12-January-11, 14:10:44
The best I can advise is to delete Control Centre from your PC and attempt changes via the BIOS. IF that fails then MSI technical needs to be advised so that they can try and simulate your hardware combo. If it does work via the BIOS, then MSI technical should be advised irrespective about the Control Centre's inability to perform the functions it should.
My own experience with Control Centre software has been anything but satisfactory. The best way is still to tweak via the BIOS.
Just to confirm, you did do a CMOS reset/clear after the BIOS update? Power cord removed..... the normal procedure?
Yeah I've been working in the BIOS.. Bummer the tool lets me change everything but the CPU ratio..
I cleared CMOS w/ the same process you mentioned a few times prior to be sure..
Just after I made the initial post I opened a tech support tkt so we shall see.. I still think it has something to so w/ the BIOS interpreting my CPU as locked but I could be wrong..
Thanks for your assistance.. I appreciate it..

  • P67A-GD65 B3 BIOS/UEFI update for AMD 7970

    HU1GE/Jack
I just got my GD65 B3 RMA returned and was wanting to know if there is a preferred Bios for the new AMD 7970's? Really unsure what happened to kill my board with my two in Xfire. I have it all back together but the cards and want to get a BIOS/UEFI that is recommended. Thanks in advance for all your tireless work!

    Hi,
not that many users out here, I suppose, that are using two crossfired 7970 cards on this platform. So, I suppose, the "pool of experience" regarding the "best UEFI/BIOS Release" for such a configuration is very, very tiny.
As always, you find the latest BETA Releases including full changelog information here:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=144655.0
... but so far, there has not been a single mentioned of ATI 7xxx cards in the the detailed changelogs.
Just to see what happens, I suggest you contact MSI Technical Support and ask them:
