P67a-gd65 (m-flash) now boot loops

Since I bought my board from day 1 I have updated the bios using m-flash all was fine and dandy... upgrading worked like a charm every single time. Well I noticed a new bios was released but this time as soon as it rebooted it started to boot loop.
I cleared CMOS and still it boot loops.
no hardware has been changed or moved, and it happened immediately after I m-flashed 1f or 1.15 as it's listed.
what can I do??? Don't tell me I have to RMA?!?!?

How do I flash back to a previous bios when it bootloops?
I was updating the bios assuming that there would be improved reliability and settings, as it seemed in the early revisions that the menus kept changing and it made the bios "act" in a more reliable fashion... I know, I know that not the reason to flash a bios especially seeing as its always a bit risky but I cant seem to help but 'update' to the latest.
I tried so far everything I have done on older computers. removed the power cable, removed the battery, switched the psu off, and waited 10+ minutes... I also repeated the process while holding the cmos for a while and no luck. I did notice that when it tries to boot the keyboard lights up (num lock and caps lock) but quickly the lights turn off and the keyboard doesnt function... a few seconds later it reboots. Total time to 'boot loop' is maybe 5-7 seconds.
I guess I learned a lesson -----> IF aint broke DONT FIX IT!

P67A-GD65 (b2) stuck in boot loop after bad flash

My mainboard is stuck, I can't open bios setup, (even tho it appears in f11 menu), and it won't boot on any device.
I removed every hard drive and DVD, and tried to boot on DOS with a usb, but it won't even boot DOS, and no usb device appears in f11 menu (I tried every usb ports)
And I can't enter bios setup (it just reboots)
Initially I was trying to update my bios because some features I wanted were not in my old version. But I think Avast blocked the update program (E7681v43.exe opened in an usb) and when I restarted the bios flash failed, and my PC entered a boot loop. When I press f11, it's a new interface so some things in the bios updated.
The only message I get when I put the E7681v43.exe and E7681IMS.430, or the files for v1j (oldest version before ivy bridge support) on a fat32 usb stick (tried formatted, and formated with Rufus), a red message appears saying "bios me updated ... file not found."
Same thing if I try the MSIHQ flash utility, it doesn't work as my PC won't boot on the usb.
I think my motherboard is bricked and the only solution is to send it to msi to get a working bios.
My motherboard p67a gd65 (b2) (the one with bad sata 2 ports) and it doesn't appear in the product name list anymore to register it on msi...
It was bought the on the 19th of January 2011, I hope I can still ask for msi for help!
I'm looking forward to your opinions on my issue, and sorry for the long text.

P67A-GD65 (B3) will not boot with external USB DVD connected.

Damnedest thing... just put the build together last night and this was the biggest issue. If I connect my external Samsung USB DVD RW the system stops booting and only displays (B3) in the bottom right corner of my display. If I remove the USB plug the system boots and operates normally. If I connect it to the USB port after boot the system recognizes it and it works fine. The same issue occurs no matter which USB2/3 port I plug it into. I've banged around the BIOS and cannot see any issues in the boot sequence that would indicate an issue. Anyone else in das same boot?

They are working on it. They sent me a BETA BIOS to try out. The BIOS v1.10B3 was dated 3-17-2011 and it nearly bricked my system though. Here is the response I sent to them the other night after a few hours with a massive headache trying to bring my system back up:

I only wish they had informed me of the changes to the CPU voltage up front or included a change log so I could have made an informed decision as to whether or not I wanted to try the BETA BIOS. I was under the impression (mistakenly) that it simply addressed the USB DVD issue. I'll wait for the new release BIOS. I can live without the external USB DVD being plugged in at boot. Bricking my MOBO and having to RMA would be a far less desirable outcome. :p That said.. I'd still recommend this MOBO. It has relatively few issues and MSI support is responsive so far.

P67A-GD65 B3 won't boot?

I just bought a new P67A-GD65 from Fry's an I cannot get it to boot. I installed it with an Intel i5 2500k with stock cooler, Patriot DDR3 1333 PSD38G1333KH ram (2x4gb), Cooler Master Silent Pro 800W power supply, two Caviar Blue 320gb hard drives, and two EVGA GTX470 graphics cards.
All the equipment is brand new, with the exception of the hard drives and graphics cards, both of which were working fine in my previous system.
When I try to power on the system, the fans will spin up, the hard drives will spool, but after about a second the system will shut down, and then try to restart itself. It does this over and over indefinitely until I turn off the power supply. I have tried removing everything except one stick of ram and one VGA, but same results. I returned one mobo, thinking it must have been a defective mobo, but I have the same results with the new one. The LEDS at the top show the CPU going from phase 1 to phase 6 and then the whole system shuts down. The BIOS LED's stay blank. I have checked the CPU pins, as well as the bottom of the CPU, and both look good. The bottom of the CPU has indents where the mobo pins made contact, so I know there is no contact issue there.
I have read multiple posts about rebooting issues, but they seem to vary in cause or when the reboot occurs. Does anyone have an idea of what is going on here? I am at wits end, and about to return the whole setup and go with some non-sandy bridge setup.

You should start with bare minimum of parts to get system running OK and then start adding parts 1 at a time. If you start having problems at a certain point in the process then you know where to start solving the problem. Each of you start your own topic instead of hi-jacking someone elses as the cause of your problem may not be the same and it gets too confusing trying to solve multiple problems of several people in one topic.

P67A-GD65 (B3) - Flashed to BIOS 4.2 & upgraded to ME8. Now unable to OC SB...

I've done a bit of research on the forum and can see many people are having issues with the new BIOS versions and the older boards. However, I upgraded before reading them, as I assumed that everything would work perfectly! Anyway, I upgraded my BIOS using the file and following the notes provided on the MSI website (I am not allowed to post external links!).
I first upgraded the BIOS. I then upgraded to ME8 via the MSI tool. I then installed the latest ME8 from the Intel website. Device manager shows I am running 8.1.0.1263.
Before upgrading I was running a solid 4.5Ghz on my SB 2500K. However now the BIOS will not allow me to change the CPU multiplier or the voltages for the CPU & RAM etc. When trying to change the CPU multiplier, I am only given an Auto option, and when exiting that small window an error is displayed:

When clicking on the options to change the voltages, nothing appears...
Does anyone know how to work around? I've not yet tried downgrading the BIOS, as I do prefer the new version and would like to to work. I have tried clearing the CMOS, resetting to defaults and starting the BIOS configuration again with no luck.

Corrupt Flash with boot loop

I have an ASA 5510 that has been giving me trouble. It started with locking up every couple of weeks, then it was every couple of days, and now it won't boot at all. When it would lock up, the only thing I could do was turn it off and turn it back on - this seemed to fix it except that it was annoying to have to power cycle it every few days.
As I said, it won't boot at all any more. It starts to boot but fails with the following messages:
Cannot find disk0:/asa706-k8.bin
Error 15: file not found
Unable to boot an image
Default configuration file contains 1 entry.
Searching / for images to boot.
No images found in /
Error 15: File not found
Unable to boot an image
There's more, but it's all pretty much the same: it can't find an image to boot from. My suspicion is that this is caused by a bad compactflash card, but I've never seen a flash card go bad before. Does this make sense or have you ever seen behaviour like this before? If it is a bad compactflash card, what are my options? Can I just go down to Best Buy or RadioShack and get a replacement card or do I have to get one (not to mention the boot image) from Cisco? Thanks in advance for your help.

P67A GD65 new beep on boot after bios upgrade [error sound]

I've just updated my bios (from 1.7 to 1.E) and I have now an additional beep at the start of the machine.
I was used to have 4 beeps at the same tone, then another one after a pause with a higher tone. But now i have a beep at the beggining with a lower tone, which really sounds like a problem.
I updated the bios this way :

Entering UEFI then Setting>M-Flash>Select one file to update bios, selection of the 1.E0 file.
Do i need to do something else ?

Yes, I have the same beeps. The middle beeps should be from how many USB devices the BIOS detected connected to your computer. Again this is normal. If you want to know exactly what each beep in the sequence means, contact MSI tech support and they should be able to tell you. I have also not been able to find any documentation as to what the beeps sequence actually stand for except for the middle beeps being USB devices connected. I really would not worry too much about it if your computer is booting correctly and loading into your OS. If that is the case, there is nothing wrong.

P67A-GD53 (B3) in a boot loop

Configuration:
Motherboard: MSI P67A-GD53 B3
CPU: Intel i5 3570k
CPU cooler: Freezer 13 pro
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB
GPU: Gigabyte GT 430
PSU: Corsair CX600
HDD: WD Caviar black 1TB
SDD: OCZ Agility 3 120GB
The build boots, then turns off 4-6 seconds later. It beeps 4 times while doing so. Sometimes, it boots and turns off within 2 seconds without making any sound.
Now I know that the Motherboard requires the 4.1 update to run the i5 3570k properly, but surely they must be a way to update it with this CPU. For the record, the motherboard boots then immediately turns off without the CPU inside. So I need the CPU for it to work and to update it.
I have tried putting a single piece of RAM in every slot one by one and booting, but that doesn't help. Neither does clearing the CMOS. Do I just have a faulty board? Or is this because of my i5 3570k that my mobo doesn't fully support without the update?
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Z77A-GD65 Error 55 constant boot loop

I'm very confident the Board itself is dead. I tried all the usual suspects one stick of ram, CMOS reset etc. etc. finally resorting to replacing the motherboard with an old Z68A GD65 which booted faultlessly first time. Just confused why the board would suddenly report an error like this after running faultlessly and with no changes to the bios or the PC itself since I bought the unit it was flashed some months ago to the latest bios version with no problems. I need to check if I can RMA the board but is it really worth the time?

Well, if board doesn't work while another board works with all the other components it is pretty surely faulty. Of course you can then go for rma.

[P67A-GD65 (B3)] Marvell RAID Boot menu + SSD

I've looked through the manual, but I haven't seen an option to turn off the very first thing I see at boot. I think it's the Marvell RAID controller; it says no hard disk found. I guess you can press space to access some options, but I haven't tried that. I would think the option to turn something off wouldn't be there but rather in the BIOS somewhere. It seems to me this is slowing down boot a little bit. I'm more interested in having it not do what it's doing than hiding it, if those are the options.
Are there any special BIOS settings for using an SSD drive? Mine seems to be working fine, but I was wondering if there were any other options.

There's no option to turn it off. It's a third party RAID controller by self so you can actually ignore the message and the system will still function normally.
No special settings is needed if your SSD is working fine currently.

Z68A-GD80 B3 Boot Loop and Failed BIOS LED Flashing

I've been having "boot loop" issues with my system since it was built in June. Basically, when the system is powered on the lights/fans come on for around 3 seconds then it shuts itself off for another 3 seconds and repeats the loop infinitely. Meanwhile there are no POST code beeps and nothing shows up on screen. I also noticed today that the Dual BIOS control LED is flashing during boot loops indicating that the primary BIOS has failed.
As this was my first build in quite a while I didn't initially worry about it too much, figuring that it was probably just a BIOS setting or improperly seated hardware issue. Shortly there after my son was born and needless to say there wasn't a whole lot of time to trouble shoot a PC for a couple of months. Fast forward four months later to today and the boot looping is driving me nuts. It seems to occur when the system has been powered down overnight and more frequently if the reset button is used. I've read a lot of stuff saying that the Gigabyte boards are prone to this issue, but can't find anyone else with the same issue on a MSI z68 board. I've check/done the following to try and trouble shoot the issue.
1. Flash to BIOS 17.3 (twice)
2. Installed system speaker to hear post codes. Got a whole lot of nothing.
3. Installed one stick of RAM in slot one. Tried all four sticks. Nothing works.
4. Set BIOS values to default.
5. Tried disabling and enabling XMP profiles for the RAM.
6. Upped the voltage on the RAM to 1.5V, since the board reports an under-volt around 1.48 on auto. No effect.
7. Disabled PLL overvolt.
8. Enabled VDroop (still not clear on what this is).
9. Removed both video cards and used the on chip video. No effect.
10. Unplugged all USB devices.
11. Tried XMP enabled and disabled for the memory.
12. Hard drive plugged in and removed makes no difference.
13. Bare system with only one stick of RAM installed, no difference.
11. Lots of other crap that I can't think of right now.
Any help would be great as I'm at a loss here.

More wierd stuff.
I couldn't get the board to boot without looping last night, tried the usual unplugging and clearing the CMOS nothing. Boot loops at every turn.
I wonder if maybe I've got some bad pins or a poor connection on my RAM slots. I removed the RAM and began testing one by one. First stick gave a boot loop. Second stick worked. On restart the BIOS LED wasn't flashing anymore, which is odd since I hadn't yet set the BIOS fix feature to enabled. I powered down again and put my RAM back in, set my BIOS settings as suggested, and then clocked the RAM to 1333MHz. Seemed stable last night through a number of restarts.
As for the backup BIOS reporting v 17.3. Yeah, that is odd. The manual says it can't be flashed either. Maybe BIOS just reports what the primary version number is no matter which chip (primary or secondary) is actually active and being booted from?
I'd like to think this is over, but I'm sure when I go home and power up I'll get another boot loop. I'd rather not be without a PC for a couple weeks, but I may just have to RMA so I don't have to deal with this anymore. It's quite frustrating to have fiddle around for 10+ minutes to get your PC up and running, plus with a RAID0 setup and SSD cache I'm just asking for a system failure with all these power on/off cycles.

For Those Experiencing the Infinite Boot Loop on P67A-GD65

My story in a nutshell - bought the original (non B3) P67A-GD65 from Newegg on the first day it was available along with 8 GB (2X4 GB) Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 ram and Intel i5 2500k processor. Received the items, hooked them up on a test bench (rubber mb supports so no grounding issues) along with a Corsair VX-550 P/S (both 24 pin and 8 pin leads plugged in), GTX-460 video card (2 PCI-E 6 pin connectors plugged in), the default Intel i5 heatsink and a known good USB KB and mouse. Promptly experienced the infinite loop boot issue others have described - fans on h/s and video card spin up, 1st APS LED lights for a fraction of a second then all 6 light up for 3 to 4 seconds then APS LEDs go out and fans on h/s and video card spin down. No beeps from speaker and no video signal to monitor. After everything has stopped spinning (about 3 to 4 seconds), the power comes back on and the cycle repeats exactly the same way every time until I turn off the power supply. Here is what I tried:
1. Used only 1 stick of ram (tried in all 4 slots)
2. Pulled 1 stick of DDR3-1600 ram from my working X58 system (again tried in all 4 slots)
3. Different power supply (OCZ 520-ADJ)
4. Known good PCI video card instead of GTX-460 (in case there was some problem with power draw)
Under each of these changes, the same infinite boot loop occurred. Called tech support, they walked me through each step I had already tried and finally suggested I RMA both the MB and the CPU to Newegg. Did so and the replacements worked fine from the start.
Then came the B2 stepping issue. Notified both Newegg and MSI that I had one of the B2 boards. Newegg notified me they had the new B3 boards in stock. Arranged for cross shipment where they would ship me the new board and then I would return the old one. Received the new one last Friday. Put it on the same test bench as above and the same infinite boot loop is now happening on the new B3 stepping board. Just to test, put the cpu, ram and GTX-460 video card back into the B2 stepping board and everything works perfectly.
Another test, since some people reported the infinite loop problem when they had failed to plug in the 8 Pin power lead to the mb, I unplugged the 8 pin connector on the working B2 stepping board. The infinite loop problem is entirely different in this case. When you press the power switch, the fans start to spin and the first LED lights for less than a second. Then the LED goes off and the fans start to spin down. After everything has stopped, it repeats until the power supply is turned off.
This is my first MSI motherboard after 15 years of Abit and Asus with the occasional Gigabyte or EVGA thrown in and I am not happy with the QC I have experienced with this board!
So to summarize, 2 of the 3 P67A-GD65 boards I received from Newegg have had this infinite boot loop problem. Apparently, I have to RMA again. Am I lucky or what???!!!

Frankly, I can understand your frustrations on the problem but it is not fair to judge a brand by looking at the number of complains in a forum. I can guarantee you, there are more RMAs out there from all other manufacturers even before an user even knows that a Forum ever exist for them to post for enquiry and most of them aren't an IT engineer or hardware engineer by self.
If you want to compare, I have also been in this industry for more than 15 years and I have many DOA boards from other manufacturers as well and DOAs after RMAs are common to me. When you handle thousands of PCs, laptops and mainframes, such things are really common.
Back to your problem. Maybe I didn't make it clear on how I want to describe on my previous post for your issue in words. I am referring to having a chance to let the system boot into BIOS or past BIOS after multiple times of rebooting, then you can try to flash the BIOS. This is also not uncommon as I have encountered systems which are problematic but are able to boot into Windows after 15 to 20 times of infinite reboots by itself.
How about processor? Tested it in another system yet? Or is this another unless suggestion to you?

BIOS 4.3 half flashed on MSI P67A-GD65 reboot loop ME not installed

Hi, yesterday I tried to flash my bios from 1.19 (1.jo) to 4.3 and I followed the SOP guidelines. Made a flash fat32 got bios on it, started it, stopped all my applications under windows and it went with no error. PC Restarted and now it's in infinite reboot loop. The moment the MSI BIOS logo appears, the PC auto reboots.
If I remove the usb drive or replace the bios file with another version it tells me it's not the file it needs. When I insert the one with the .43 file it goes back to reboot cycle. I tried resetting the CMOS with the button on the mainboard and I have this screen telling me BIOS is 4.3 and it has recognized all my 12gb ram, 2 hard drives and processor. Then it has press F1 to enter setup and press F2 to continue, both options result in reboot.
I tried the 1.JO on flash, but it tells me again that it's the wrong file. Tried renaming it to amiboot as I found somewhere, but to no avail. Tried renaming the .43 to EIVB.bin as it was suggested in one forum, again no luck.

I wasn't sure about the ME update, read that someone managed. The Live Update 6 did my 1.19 (1.JO) update. I tried all usb slots and 3 different sticks, formated them and so on. Nothing worked. I tried disconnecting all hard drives and DVD drive too.
Is there a way to stop this cycle or to restore to the 1.19 version?

Edit, was perusing the forums and found this:
Forum flasher defaults to looking for zip files, if you pick rar from the drop down it should accept the file just fine, if you don't use method 1 you won't get the ME flashed.
It's lovely that that's documented and pointed out in the flashing tool's post, and it's rather odd that all of the BIOSes are saved in .rar archives if the flasher looks for .zip. I used method 2.

I just did that, and it unfortunately continues to loop.

MSI P67A-GD65 infinite boot/loop problem

installed everything into my case and go to boot into the UEFI and nothing !
i press the power switch, everything starts fine and the fans spin up and the LED's on the board are fine, waits 5 secs then it shuts itself off and tries the exact same process again. it keeps doing this until i cut the power !
i've checked the 24pin etc, KB & mouse r fine, 2 different sets off RAM in every slot, cleared CMOS (i think).
seems like a very common problem with this board after a bit of googling !!

Case NZXT M59 + mainly scythe fans and a noctua and coolermaster
DVDRW liteon DVDRW
Storage 128GB kinsgton SSDnow V100, 1TB Samsung F3 7200RPM, 1TB Hitachi 7K100 7200RPM all sata 3gb/s
Generic 5.25" fan controller
2 x 12" blue CCFL's
OS windows 7 x64 professional (installed on the SSD, but havent booted it yet as the board doesnt even get to BIOS :()
peripherals Microsoft reclusa keyboard and gigabyte GM-6990 (i think) mouse
monitor Benq g2222hdl connected via DVI
the only things i have changed today are, put the new notcua fan in my case, changed the Motherboard and CPU from and Asus M4A78LT-M & Athlon II X4 640 to MSI P67A-GD65 (b3) & intel core i7 2600k. Also, put the alpenfohn matterhorn on today.
everything is confirmed working apart from the CPU & Motherboard. everything worked yesterday, but i didnt have the necessary equipment to test the motherboard or cpu before using them together (today)
