The problem i have is that desktop never crashes!! It's always fine but when i'm in game it will crash at the most random points of time! I've tried multiple operating systems from Xp64 to now Vista 64! I want the 4 gigs of ram that i have installed to be used! It was weird back on XP 64 i could alt-tab out COD4 and most other games when it crashed and close it out but to run the game again i'd have to reboot the machine! If i get the bios to update to 1.3 does anything think it might fix the problem! It is a E6850 too so could the dual core be the reason either? I've gone over everything i could find in the forums and nothing has helped! I've been trying to figure a way to get the bios to update but the USB drive wouldn't show up at start and i tried everything i could find in the forums to try to do this but only thing i see helping me would be MSI Live Update and i'm scare that if i run it i'll crap my board and i can afford anything right now! Any suggestions would be appriciated!

Press F11 during POST to get access to the BIOS Boot Manager and choose your USB Flash Drive from there. It may be listed as a hard drive. If it still doesn't appear, disable quick booting in BIOS to provide more time for hardware initialization and retry. If still no joy, try a different stick.

Premiere crashes with 2 passes but not on 1 pass on flash export. Premiere claim that RAM memory is too low even though I look in task manager that only 4.5 GB is used of 12 GB?
Can anyone confirm this bug and try to render a file from Premiere in flash format with 2 passes?
This is the first bug I found in side Premier CS5.0.2 exept low use of my GTX470 cuda cores.

I was using Firefox ans suddenly it will not show on desktop. It shows in Task Manager but NOT on desktop. Have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times to no avail. Can you help? I hate all the other browsers!

Are you sure there is no problem at the source? Have you tried contacting the publisher to see if they are sending the right files? And the format of the files?

External Hardrive shows up in Utility but not on desktop

Hi folks. External hard-drive that used to show up fine (and was formatted for Mac prior to original use) does not show up on desktop or utility on my laptop. However, when I try it on a different computer it does show up on Utility but not on desktop. I ran "verify disk" in utility and it says it "appears to be ok." The firewire ports on the aforementioned computers, as well as firewire cable work fine with other devices. Finder is set to show external drives. Advice? Thank you.

By "utility" I assume you mean Apple's Disk Utility. If so, what is its version number & modified date shown on the affected Mac in Finder's "Get Info" box?
Are both computers (I assume they are both Macs) running the same version of Disk Utility & of the Mac OS? On the computer that recognizes the drive, what does Disk Utility say is the *partition scheme* of the drive? (This will only be shown if you select the drive & not the volume name indented under it in the device list on the left.)

Hard Drive Shows Up In System Profile, But Not On Desktop

I took the old hard drive out of my intel mac mini (60gb fuji) and installed it on my power mac g5 (1.8 single); it worked long enough for me to copy all my old files over before it randomly froze and i had to restart. after that the new drive only shows up in the system profiler and not on the desktop. in the system profiler it states its capacity but not how much is available, like the main drive. any ideas on how to get the old drive working again?

USB shows up in Finder but not on Desktop

When I insert a USB memory stick in my mba, it shows up in Finder but not on the the desktop. I've searched the forums and Internet and have not found out why this is or how to resolve it.
Any suggestions?

In a way, they are the same, or it should be said, "refers to the same". The dock icons launch applications (Finder is an application). However, Finder launches itself in a full-screen desktop view configuration when the OS loads, automatically. That way, you have immediate access to a desktop Finder window to choose a task to perform or to open a file. You can also open additional "sessions" or windows of Finder to perform tasks such as copying, using the Dock icon to perform the task of opening a new window or instance of Finder.
At the top is the menu bar for wahtever application is running in the foreground. As Finder is running in the foreground, when the OS loads, you have immediate access to a Finder menu. In that menu is a Preferences panel for Finder. It is within this panel that you set up the manner in which Finder will display and work. As such, you check which objects will appear on the destop automatically. One of these choics is whther to display external drives on the Desktop finder window.

Audio through Screen Sharing.app but not Remote Desktop?

Can anyone enlighten me as to why audio from a remote Mountain Lion machine can be heard through the Screen Sharing.app but not Apple Remote Desktop? Do they use different protocols?

When I'm on Facebook and play Fish World, sending gifts is no longer working, the drop down box won't open enough to see the "send" button. It works in other games, but not in Fish World, and I contacted Fish World who said it was a browser problem.

starting yesterday I cannot get the drop down box to open to send gifts to my friends. Fish world told me a few weeks ago it was due to some updates with Facebook, but now that has been fixed and I can't get the game inFB to work. It works with other browsers - Chrome and IE9. Is there something I need to do on my end to fix this? Other facebook games work fine with drop down boxes, it's only fish world.

Can anyone tell me why games are semi transparent in Pogo? I only have this problem with Firefox but not with IE9 or Chrome

When I click on a game, the game window opens and is solid, but when it's fully loaded, it becomes semi transparent and washed out. I can post a screen shot of what I'm talking about if this forum supports it.

Crash on start up (but not right after a re-install) w/ Vista

I have an odd problem that only seems to be affecting LR 1.3 and not LR 1.1. When I first install 1.3, I can open and run it fine... but as soon as I close it and re-open it I get a crash on the splash screen. It just says this program has stopped working. The file listed in the details is "ui.dll"
So then if I uninstall it, and immediately re-install it works for one single time. Essentially I have to re-install every time I want to run it.
This does not happen with LR 1.1 on my machine. I can't stay with 1.1 because my new camera is one of the new ones added in 1.3. And yes, this problem also exists with 1.3.1.
Core2duo E6750, 3GB DDR2-800, nvidia 8800GT 512mb, Vista Ultimate 32bit with all updates, etc.
Things I have tried so far to fix this:
-Re-installing a million times
-Trying 4 different revisions of my video card drivers including the latest ones
-replacing the ui.dll with random ones I've found on the internet (didn't work obviously)
-Deleting Lightroom preferences file (when I do this and open it, I will get to the first preference-setting screen and then it crashes)
-Temporarily moving my catalog and presets so its forced to start with a fresh one
-All Vista updates
-Disabled all unnecessary start-up items and services
-No anti-virus software installed
-Installed it on a different hard drive
Pretty much everything I can think of short of a complete reformat which I really don't feel like doing and probably has a low chance of actually working.
Does anyone know what ui.dll is for? I heard it might have something to do with printing, and I've also heard its for the user interface. I don't have a printer installed on this machine but I tried installing one anyway to see if it would change anything... it didn't.
I am at work now but these were some thing I was going to try when i got home:
-Install 1.1 and make a copy of its ui.dll and try using that in 1.3
-Un-install all other Adobe apps to see if theres a conflict

I notice you haven't called Adobe support--unless you overlooked mentioning it. That is what I would do at this point. Without knowing just what apps you have on and all the facts of your configuration, it will be a matter of mostly guesswork here. That it hangs on ui.dll may give Adobe support the clue they need to troubleshoot it.
Here's one solution that might work. Set up a dual boot system, putting nothing but LR on one side--no internet, just the bare bones. Put LR on alone. Then add programs you may want to use with it, one at a time. If that solves the problem, LR will also run faster--in my case about 1.5 times as fast. Sorry, I can't be of more help.

Acrobat Pro 9.5.0 crashes on ClearScan OCR but not Searchable Image OCR

I have Windows and Mac copies of Acrobat Pro 9.5 running on my computer (both version 9.5.0). My computer is an iMac running Mac OS X 10.7.3 (Lion) with the Parallels hypervisor, version 7.0.15055 installed, in which is running Windows XP. As at 11 April 2012, these versions are all the most recent version of the respective software.
When I try to apply OCR to a scanned image, and select ClearScan as the option, Acrobat Pro 9.5 (Mac) crashes but Acrobat Pro 9.5 (Windows) does not. When it crashes, Acrobat Pro 9.5 (Mac) produces a VERY long problem report which is sent back to Adobe.
In order to apply OCR to a scanned image in Acrobat Pro 9.5 (Mac), I am forced to change the OCR option from ClearScan to Searchable Image, but this results in a larger file.
I am aware of the thread at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/920032#4000947 but this has not helped, because I have reformatted the hard drive of my Mac (wiping out all remnants of previous versions of Acrobat), and reinstalled Acrobat Pro 9.5, but the problem persists.
Can anyone explain the different behaviour and offer a solution?

Acrobat 9 is not supported on MAC 10.7
Hence there is nothing much we can do about it. To use OCR functionality on MAC 10.7, please use Searchable Image else please upgrade to Acrobat 10.
