P6n diamond - error beeps and freezing

Ok so I have had the MSI p6n diamond since july. Since the beginning I couldn't buff the Anti Aliasing to more than 4x or else my game would (whole pc) freeze up with the sound also freezing. So I just didn't buff it. Recently I started getting problems. No matter what I am doing, my PC freezes up. If it is in a game the sound gets freeze choppy, you know what I mean, no matter at what settings I play it. Then the whole PC started freezing up like this. It is working, but not doing anything, just being on. And the image on the monitor is frozen. Is it possible to be the mouse, because I sometimes have to change the usb slot of the mouse when it goes to sleep? So the only way to use the PC after a freeze, is to restart via the button on the case. But then sometimes, an odd thing happens. I get this 5-10 second continuous beep from the start which then has a 1 second pause and again the long beep. I tried searching in the manual and on the intranetz, but all the info was different and the only error thing connected in the manual was the LED codes. And when the beep is on, the led codes are nothing out of the ordinary. Basically it wont go through the intitial beep when the pc is turned on. So i restart it a few times, just getting the beep, or getting a blank screen and nothing happening. Then the same stuff happens, if I go into bios, it will sometimes freeze there, so that leads me to think that It is not the Windows, which i installed over 3 times (fresh installs). I defragmented the hard drive a few times using O&O defrag. Basically I am out of options. Help would be appreciated a lot.

PS Maybe it is a voltage issue? It is at auto voltage, but maybe I should change it? Everything is at auto voltage btw. What should the voltages be?
Basically what error beeps mean would be the greatest help you could give me. But only for this mobo specifically. I want to know in which part of my pc the problem is.

Also check CPU cooling system, re-seat CPU and apply new thermal paste(but not too much)

Lion beeps and freezes

From time to time (on average once a week) my Intel mac suddenly beeps repeatedly in groups of 3 longer beeps. The screen freezes and nothing works anymore. The problem can occur in any program. I have to switch electricity off and can restart without problems. The machine works again for a couple of days and can suddenly beep and freeze again. I read in apple discussions that too much memory (16 gb) might cause the problem, but i only have 8 gb Ram. Anyone with suggestions on what may be wrong, before I take the machine back to the dealer?

Having the same issue with the same 15" model the easiest and working fix for me was to deactivate the automatic graphic switching in the energy saving panel in the system preferences.

I will be using it and it randomly will stop and freeze than beep three times the only way to stop it is a hard boot up unplugging it only works I had upgraded the ram to the max that a 27 inch 2011 model will take I believe 16 gb

Can you count the beeps or flashes?
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
In addition to the beeps, on some computers the power LED will flash a corresponding number of times plus one. The LED will repeat the sequence after approximately a 5-second pause. The tones are only played once.
Note: In this case, a flash is considered to be 1/4 second or 250 ms or greater in length.

IMac gives three beeps and freezes

My neighbour's iMac starts and runs normally most of the time, but periodically when running emits three beeps and then freezes. This is NOT the usual "three beeps at startup" indicating a RAM problem, but whilst the machine is is actually being used.
Can't seem to find anything about this anywhere. Any ideas, anyone?
(The logic board was replaced very soon after purchase as the machine had all sorts of problems . . .)

My imac mid 2010 worked fine with "new" memory for 6 months, then started hanging in mid-session - meaning it froze and beeped loudly hours or days after it booted OK. Put old memory back in and noticed it ran more smoothly with less memory than more. Put the "new" memory back in and ran memtest for days and days; no problems reported. But, the system still froze after I'd been working for a while - at odd times. So, took the "new" memory back to the store, and, while there, upgraded to (more expensive) Crucial brand memory - just to be on the "safer" side. Put the replacement memory in and my imac has never run better - not even when new. So far, my imac is quieter, cooler, and smoother now than since the day I bought it. Thought I'd post this on this old thread because Apple Care had told me to bring the machine to them for three days of testing - per other posts I'd seen on the net. But, that would have been a complete waste of time - since they'd wind up (with the old memory) telling me "no problem," or, (with the "new" memory,) "it's a non-apple part problem." Meanwhile, bad memory can mean bad writes to your hard drive; mine seems fine, but I generally pay close attention to problems and fix them asap, or, sooner. If you wait until you have additional problems, you may spend a lot more time and money getting things finally done - and you may wind up back at "square one" or worse if you trash your drive and it's contents.

IMac running Lion sometimes does Repeat Beep and freezes crashes

Longtime Mac user. Upgraded to Lion when released. Worked fine for days till three days ago.
About twice a day (computer is on all day in office - iMac), it has started a loud beeping, long beeps, several at a time and then a pause, then more beeps, and all the whilte the cursor FREZES on screen. Keyboard input is ignored. Nothing changes on the screen but it must be shut down with the Power Switch, no other way works.
Lion? or what?

Doesn't sound as if your machine is very healthy - I'd advise backing it up as soon as possible
Do you have Apple Care? Can you take it to a Genius Bar for inspection?

Macbook Pro 13, i5 2011 awkwardly beeps and freezes.

I've had my Macbook Pro 13 inch i5 Sandy Bridge since it came out in March. I always noticed a bit of lag while having a few aps up.
When I'd make songs on garageband it would randomly turn silver and bring up a box saying something like "Hold Down the Power button" and you couldn't leave the screen. It would also shut down if I listened to itunes and worked on imovie.
When I upgraded to OSX Lion it got worse. I've been plaing Starcraft II on a Medium setting, now because I upgraded it will only run on a Low setting, and lags in late game. Like, seriously lags. You can't move or do ANYTHING. It's not only SC giving me issues, when I play Sims 3 and have Skype, Itunes, and Mail up it will freeze and shut the computer off.
Photoshop now refuses to open, so I ended up uninstalling it.
I can't use imovie at all.
My battery life isn't very good.
If I'm on the internet, listening to itunes, and chatting on skype I'll get a random freeze and the computer will beep once. Then do it again a few moments after.
I have an appointment with Apple tomorrow, I'm worried that they wont fix or replace the computer. I don't want to get stuck with this.
I mean, I played Starcraft II on a medium setting on my macbook air 2010. You'd think this thing could at least run it on high!

Since your Mac is new and under warranty, Apple is obligated to fix these problems for you. Your Mac is not operating properly for whatever reason, and as long as there is no user inflicted accidental damage, there is no reason why it should not be fully repaired under warranty.

Error msg and freeze up on adobe elements 3.0

Hello. I get an error FFA-8-000D msg and the program freezes up. "Playback failed. Audio system does not seem to respond. Maybe card does not support full duplex mode." Did not do this before. Upgraded the realtek driver, no change. I have vista. Adobe's site said 3.0 was not compatible with vista, but I have used it on 4 projects in the past. Also, the audio is clipping out like it's to loud. I downloaded video from a Sony pd-150 that was recorded in the -20 to -5 range, with a little clipping occasionally, but not all the time.

Pro 2011 getting error message and freeze? Advice please

I have a 15" macbook pro 2011. First I want to say that this is the 2nd one, the first one froze 7 times in the first 7 days I owned it and I made a appt to have it looked at and they replaced it. Now this one which is about 2 weeks old has done the same freeze 3 times in the last 2 days. All I am doing while its happening is looking online and maybe have itunes open or iphoto but not useing. Should I just try to get this replaced? Its annoying loosing info you have open especially since I have a ebay store in which I need to use everyday.

P6n Diamond Intermittent Beeping

Have been happily using my P6N for a few months now and have had some issues but was able to get passed them. But now I have an issue in that the MB beeps every so often. It beeps once when i startup which from what i read is normal but when the PC is in use it will beep for about 20 times and then stops. sometimes it beeps longer.
i assumed that it meant my CPU was overheating or something but it happens at various times even if it's just sitting there not processing much.
anybody have an idea as to why it does this?

I don't like using MSI software because I believe its the core center that when installed, you can't get rid of it. So i stay away from it. Before when I had it installed, the idle temps were down around 25-30C and load was no more than 50C. And that was at its current OC state.

K9N SLI with weird USB beeping and freezing

Greetings
I have a K9N SLI-F V2 MB that seems to have a weird reaction to USB devices. Right now I only have PS/2 devices plugged in (Keyboard & Mouse) and It seems to boot and run normally. I get only 1 "beep" immediately after the BIOS screen, and it runs XP just fine. If I replace the PS/2 mouse with a USB mouse, I will now get an addition "chirp" (I think of these more as a "chirp" because its a little faster than the "beep") during the BIOS screen, as well as the original "beep" right after the BIOS screen. One thing I discovered is that the number of "chirps" I receive is the same number of USB devices I have plugged in. So if I have a USB keyboard, mouse, and printer (3 USB devices) plugged in, I will get 3 "chirps" during the BIOS screen, and still get the single "beep" after the BIOS screen. The other thing is that whenever USB devices are plugged in, Windows will freeze, but with the PS/2 devices, it works fine. I cant really find a pattern to the freezing, sometimes during the log in screen, sometimes if the computer has been idle for a while, and sometimes while using browsers/applications/games, but it ONLY freezes when USB devices are plugged in. I have gone through each USB device and made sure that all the most recent drivers are installed. So whats the deal....any thoughts?

Wow, I dont feel alone. Yes some similarities. My thoughts are the same: I dont see how this could be OS related. I am currently trying a different memory setup too that doesnt seem to help really (2 x 1 Gb 800Mhz sticks in dual channel mode slowed to 667Mhz). Yes , I also test the same components in other systems with no problems, but when i get everything back on the MSI board, it starts again. I also have been getting the "device removed" message but for my rear audio plug. Since the new PSU I installed certainly have seen a reduction in these odd occurrences, but no total solution.

Ill go ahead and post all Specs I can remember, and get as many details as I can later when Im back at that computer. Yes I have been using the MSI site for drivers/patches. XP has been installed a few times and then updated to SP3, so i dont really see what I could be missing. Looking in the BIOS I dont see anywhere to manually select x16 lanes for the PCIe slot. everything has been reinstalled as if it were the 1st time out of the box

I too have seen a bit of difference since PSU upgrade,and this morning I transferred over 200 gig of files without a hitch,
Then went onto the next set of files,another 100 gig or so and bam 30 seconds in(never even completed the first file transfer),PC locks up again.
And just when I thought I "mysteriously" fixed it.
Now I get a "network discovery" is not turned on message and when I turn it on it will not stay turned on.
That I believe is OS related.But due to the other issues I am experiencing I am not 100% sure.
Thank god I use Network Magic by Cisco,so I do not need Discovery to transfer files.
Only time I seem to have this lockup problem is when the USB drives are directly connected(any USB port,3 front,6 rear)
to the desktop PC in question.And none have the "extra" lead on Pin10 as per another post here.
I can connect to the network with these drives on any PC in the house,
I have 5 to choose from or my laptop and have no Transfer issues at all.

External Hard Drive beeps and freezes

Hey everyone. I had an External Western Digital Ultra IDE hard drive hooked up to my Ibook G4 via USB. The drive was working fine with no problems for several weeks. It started giving me problems with I formatted my Ibook and then reconnected the hard drive. (I'm not sure if this is related though) Thing is, the drive works great as long as I'm continually accessing data from it (i.e. playing music non stop), but if I am not pulling stuff from it, after about 2 minutes it starts to make beeping noises and the blue light that is usually lit up on the enclosure goes off and then I can't access the drive at all. So I just have to turn the power off...turn it back on...and it's fine...as long as I'm using it. I don't think its the hard drive because it works fine and no data lost as long as I'm using it. Could the enclosure be blamed or perhaps could it be some kind of power settings...like it is going into hibernation or the like? Please help!!!!

It was selected to put the hard drives to sleep whenever possible so I unselected that but that same thing keeps happening. I have waited a long time. Once the blue light goes out after those beeping noises thats it, I have to restart it because it isn't recognized by my ibook anymore, the external hard drive icon disapears and everything.

My MacBook Pro started beeping and freezing up, replaced ram, still doing it. Any ideas?

We had everything checked at Apple store, everything was fine but was told that 3 beeps meant ram was bad. We replaced the ram and used it for about 5 minutes and it started doing it again. Any ideas on what else this could be?

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

P6N Diamond sound problem

P6N Diamond has recently developed a sound problem. I am using Audioengine2 stereo speakers and the left speaker has started producing distortion (but no other sound) when switched on and connected to onboard Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme audio. The right speaker works fine. Distortion is produced when the computer is booted and not just in windows. Both speakers and cables all work fine connected to my ipod so I assume the problem is with the P6N diamond onboard audio and not my speaker setup.
I have also tried reinstalling creative drivers and disabling and re-enabling sound blaster in device manager but the problem persists.

Are you asking how do you power the system on with it out of the case? Are you able to connect front panel power switch to JFP1 or are the wires too short? If needed just take a small screwdriver or whatever and for 1 second or so short pins 6-8 together to turn system on. That would be the same as pushing the power button on the case.

P6N Diamond & Sata 6,7 ports – no raid wanted

Howdy,
I’m going to have a couple extra sata drives (both 160mb samsungs) when my new build (centered on the P6N Diamond) is finished and I want to use them solely for storage – no raid. So my question is, since the manual isn’t clear on this, if I completely remove the jumper from JP1/JP2 will I be able to use the Sata 6,7 plugins for 2 independent drives, or will removing the jumper inert those plugins? TIA.

Do you have the option to set them as a single drive stripe RAID like I can on my Promise 376 controller or are they for spares or some such thing in a RAID array (6/7 that is)?
