P6N platinum and Dual Core Center

Hi,
When I attempt to use the Dual Core Center I get an error:
0xc0000005 Program failed to start, press OK to end.
I have updated the BIOS, Dual Core Center, Nvidea drivers, .NET framework etc no change.
Tech support told me that the Dual Core Cell chip on the board was bad so I got a second board without change.
I really don't care about the OC'ing features, I want to monitor temps and control fans.
I have tried Speedfan, it does not control the fans plugged to the mobo headers. Neither does Nvideas tool (Nview).
Infact nothing I have tried will control the fans.
Suggestions?
(Aside from returning both boards and going with a different brand)

I think the program is horrible...don't waste your time with it.
If it works, good! It doesn't tend to fuss.
But if it doesn't work, uninstall it.
CoreTemp and Everest like Jack says are the best.
Fan speeds however your out of luck with. You can submit a report through Speedfan to the author however.

  • Help...MSI 975x Platinum PUE + Dual Core Center + MSI 7900 GTX

I have an MSI 7900GTX on my MSI975x MB.  I've read the dual core center manual and it states that Dual Core Center can also monitor VGA temps and whatnot as long as it's an MSI Graphics card.  Currently I am unable to monitor VGA stats on Dual Core Center due to the fact that it is greyed out.  Can anyone tell me how to activate this feature?

To know you GPU temps, you can access it via Display Properties for nVidia cards and for ATi cards, you can view via the ATI Control Panel.

  • K8N Neo4 SLI Platinum and Dual Core

I just received my new MSI K8N Neo4 LSI Platinum motherboard and I am waiting on my new processor AMD Athalon64 dual core 4400+. My questions are:
    1. If the bios on the motherboard is not the latest one will the motherboard boot with the dual core processor. If not what are my options?
    2. If I manage to boot, and all the components are new, assuming I will boot into DOS, can I make a bios update from there or I need to install Windows and then do a bios update?
    3. And what are the bios update procedures for MSI motherboards?
Thanks a lot guys for help

    hi,
In order to use dual core CPU on the MB, update BIOS to the latest version (3.4 and above) before using it. After flashing BIOS, please enter BIOS Load Optimized defaults, Save&exit it, then change CPU to dual core one.
For how to update BIOS, refer to:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/html/support/bios/note/award.htm
You can use the dual core without updating the Bios. However, your second core won't work until the update. So you can use the cpu without the correct bios version to install windows.

  • K8N Neo4 Platinum and Dual Core on Linux

I have solved my problem with getting both cores to work and thought I would post it here as info in case anyone encounters the same problem.
Bios 1.5 works fine, but when I installed it I used the option which prevents overwriting the boot block, and was only able to get one core to boot because of APIC problems. Doing a full flash prevented the IOAPIC bios setting from being turned off and allowed the board to be recognized as SMP compatible.
I guess part of the IOAPIC table must be in the boot block area

After few test i have changed a cd drive : from dvd-usb external to internal ide drive and W Xp
    setup corretly.
    But for me  new problem:
now i have first O/S on SATA1 and secondary O/S (installed now) on primary IDE 1 channel,
and in any root i have one  boot.ini  and both boot.ini have a similar  row (!?)
    First installed  on SATA1:
    [boot loader]
    timeout=0
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
    Second Insatalled on IDE1:
    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
The second O/S now dont boot:
my intention is to copy a row from second boot.ini to first boot.ini ; but i ask for  what parameter i use on "multi", "disk", "rdisk" ?
I hope on your help, please and sorry for my bad english.
    Thanks

  • CoreTemp and Dual Core Center report differently.

In CoreTemp I get Idle cpu (its a q6600 stock) temperatures near the 55° degrees while DualCore Center reports around 30°. If I go to the bios window it reports the same as DualCore Center, is there an issue??? BTW I have an P7N SLI-FI. When I run all other monitoring programs I have it says the same as CoreTemp so which program do I believe. If I run Prime95 multithreaded I get around 100° C - 120° C so I'm wondering since I don't want to fry my cpu...

I really wouldn't believe either  Dualcore center is rather buggy but not bad for reading voltage and temps I suppose. I'm going to recommend you try Realtemp, you can d/l it from techpowerup... http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/. It's highly accurate when calibrated per the documentation, and it explains in detail how your sensors work and also some really interesting information about C2D thermal properties. That's found here... http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/docs.php. The author has done extensive testing of intel cpu's to correctly determine tjmax and has written realtemp to be extremely configurable, accurate, and user friendly.

  • Dual Core Center- MSI P6N SLI Platinum and MSI 8800 GTS 640

I have both the MSI 650i MOBO and the MSI 8800 GTS vidcard. When using an Asus P5B Dlx MOBO and this vidcard, Dual Core Center was installed and displayed the information for the videocard and allowed a mild OC. Now with both MSI products in the case, Dual Core Center only displays the information on the MOBO-- no 8800 GTS information. The tab at the top for the VGA does not bring up anything.  ??? I have tried installing the version on each one of the disks that came with each piece of equipment again and it doesn't seem to make a difference, it doesn't work. I downloaded the most recent version of the utility from the MSI site and still get only the MOBO information. How do I get the display for the video card.
Or since the MSI utilities typically are listed on the forums as not being the greatest, what else can I/should I be using instead?
    {I'll put this in the graphics forum too as it hits both areas...}

Running a P6N SLI Platinum and a MSI 7900GTO with Dualcorecenter 2004 and everything is ok.
Never installed any driver from the MSI CD which comes with the board or graphics card. All drivers are downloaded
    from Nvidia.
Maybe the 8800 series is not supported yet.

Found that AtiTool (latest beta) works on the 8800's. The "find max core" and "find max memory" don't work perfectly though, as they start the overclock and then are supposed to check for errors; they are supposed to stop the adjustment upward when they encounter erros and come back down......    AtiTool just kept cranking it up, although you could visibly see the little 3D screen artifact all over the place. But It gave a good starting place to do the OC manually and then go run the scan for artifacts and errors manually.  AtiTool listed the stock core at 513 and stock memory at 792. I was able to take the core up to ~644 and the memory up to ~877. I backed these off some (as you can't run both at max!) and it looked stable at 630 core, 860 memory.  Ran through both 3DMark 05 and 3DMark06 without a hitch. Need to check it out with some extended gameplay now.

  • MSI P6N SLI Platinum, Dual Core Center and Mem Voltage

I set my memory voltage for my Corsair sticks to 2.0 just as TheRamGuy at Corsair's House of Help forum had suggested. However, in Dual Core Center, it reports that the Memory voltage is at 2.7!!!!.
I seem to vaguely remember some threads somewhere in one of the forums about the MSI boards frying higher voltage memory, and so am concerned to say the least.
Or is there a better program that can display the Memory voltage??   Or do I believe the Dual Core Center readings?

Quote from: NovJoe on 13-April-07, 16:01:41
CPUID would let you know if your RAMs are running at the correct timings.
You can try SisoftSandra or Everest to check on the detected voltage in Windows.
OK, I've downloaded both SiSoftSandra and Everest. I don't see anywhere where these programs report/measure a memory voltage. One one screen, it will report on the SPD settings for the memory and lists the rated RAM voltage "setting", but not the actual juice going to it.
Oh, well. Must just mark it off as one less thing to worry about

  • P6N SLI V2 problem with "dual core center"

I have the P6N SLI  V2 with E4400 and 7600gt running XP pro sp 2.
after installing and running MSI's "dual core center" (including .Net framework) I only have the "VGA" option enabled, the "MB" option is disabled as well as the D.O.T option. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well as downloading the latest version, but I have the same problem. I get no MB options at all (like no cpu temp, fan speed, core speed etc.). I didn't make any changes to the BIOS yet (other than changing the boot sequence), and ideas?

  • NX7600GT Diamond Plus and fan speed with Dual Core Center

I just got a NX 7600GT Diamond Plus for my HTPC. I noted that Riva Tuner and other utilities are not able to control the fan speed of the video card. The only way one can control the fan speed is via Dual Core Center and 3D Core Cell. The problem is that the default setting for fan speed on Dual Core Center is too high and clearly audible. How can I get Dual Core Center to start with user defined presets during windows start-up/boot-up ?
What I want to do is to put the fan into 'SILENT' mode automatically during Dual Core Center start-up. Any ideas / suggestions ?

Quote from: BOSSKILLER on 17-January-07, 00:44:11
well no need to edit manually, MSI provided everythink in easy way from core center.
select advanced mode, create your custom profile pickup your desired settings,(setup maximum FAN RPM via buttons) and save it to custom profile.
suggest you to read help section from program.
So the custom profile is automatically loaded every time DualCoreCenter starts up ? Maybe there is something wrong with my install of DCC, I cannot get it to load custom profiles automatically upon startup. I can save the changes to say "User Profile 1" but the profile active on startup always is the "default" profile ...

  • DKA790GX Platinum, have problem with changing FSB in Dual Core Center

    Hello guys, freshblood is here,
I change fsb in Dual core center, but unfort.  core temp and CPUZ don't reflect any changes.

I agree.  The BIOS gives you better control with better options.

Dumb MSI Dual Core Center.  It is not the best tool ever developed.  Use the BIOS for overclocking your system.

  • P6n diamond/dual core center

Hello, I am having a hard time getting this installed correctly(dual core center). After I get it installed it only shows info for my 8800 card none for my motherboard displays a error message saying m/b driver did not install. Ntune installed the first time but only shows limited info, after uninstalling both utility's n tune won't reinstall and core does the same as before. Any help would be great!

Sorry for the lame no info post above! I have filled out my signature with my system info, let me know if there is anything else I should put in.
I could not find what version of DCC I am using but I hope it is the latest because MSI live update is telling me it is current.
Where can I find the Moan guide you mentioned in above post?

  • Problem with Dual Core Center and MSI 3870

Hello again, my previous thread is this:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=113164.0
The VGA works well, the problem is that AFTER i installed it the Dual Core Center stoped to work!!
Installed the dotnetfix again but no avail, still doesn't work.
And i know that happened after installed the VGA, so i believe that must be part of the problem.
    Thanks!

Try the latest version of Dual Core Center.
You will find many alternatives for DCC here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=107133.0

  • "Dual Core Center does not support" error msg on K9N Platinum

    Hi,
I just formated my system and installed all the drivers as I usually do. Last thing I installed was the Dual Core center. I cant make it run as I get "Dual Core Center does not support!" error message. I have an Athlon64 X2 4200+ with the latest cpu driver from AMD web site. Any idea on how I could make Dual Core Center work?
    Thank you.

    Oh ok.
Well on the CD there is a Core Center, but on the site if you go deep into the specific motherboard download section there is a Dual Core Center. I guess it is for dual CPUs.
I've download the AMD X2 Driver. I just wanted to use the Cool'N'Quiet option, since I was told that I needed the "Core Center" for that.

  • Help! Dual Core Center

    Hi,
I just installed dual core center on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 but it won't allow me to change my CPU fan speed! The MB button is greyed out? How can I change the speed of my CPU like I could before when I used Windows XP and Core Center? My motherboard is the MSI K8N SLI Platinum.
    Thanks.

Quote from: Stu on 02-November-09, 02:57:07
Which one? Please use the full model name of your board, not the MS-xxxx number.
    http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=searchresult&keywords=ms-7100
The full model is the MSI K8N SLI Platinum motherboard.
Ok, I have made some progress on this problem. I have removed Dual Core Center (like everyone says here, it is CRAP!) so now I have managed to get my fan to slow down via the BIOS by enabling the Smart Fan and setting it to 50C. Now my only problem is, I feel that the polling for the temperature is not done frequently enough. I estimated that the sensor only polls something like once every 2 min. It just feels like it's taking far too long for the fan to speed back up. Is there any other way to speed up the polling frequency for the temperature?
