  • SLI with P6N Diamond not working.

I have installed 2 8800GT's and can't get them to run at 16x in SLI mode. So far I've installed the two cards in the top 2 slots and the 2 white slots. I've installed the bridge. According to GPU Z, the bus interface is operating PCI-E 16x @ 8x in either place.
Is there something I'm missing? Is there anything in the Bios I need to set?

  • New Old Topic.. P6n Plat.. Sli.. No POST

After reading about all the boards that did this. I ordered mine anyway. Knowing that it would not happen now.. MY board was built in feb 07  .. I did a basic install I Stick of Kingston Mem in slot 1  a Nx8600 Graphics card. and my 500 watt pc power and cooling  PSU. I hit the power button and the Fans come on the little orange light by the Cmos Sw. comes on and the ethernet light is green...Monitor does search and finds digital Hookup.. Black Screen,  that is all. The D-Bracket Lights do nothing.. I took all the components from a working Mother board of another Brand. The Video card is new the Power supply is rebuilt by Pc power and cooling. The memory is new. This exact same thing happened to my last New MSI mb... So Is this another DOA They claim on the box that each new one is tested. Hmm.
Please Help !! I am using a pent 133 with 65meg of ram. and windows 98se, to write this.. built in 1995
What can I try that maybe I have not.??. Please give me some suggestions. the memory is certified for this machine...30 amp on the 12v, all else listed below..

I did a lot of investigating all the info I could find on the Board.. It seems that MSI only test a few out of 100 they think that is cheaper just to RMA .  I have always been a fanboy for MSI a long time.. also this site.. so I guess instead of screwing around. I will RMA it to New Egg on Monday. I feel it is the Voltage Regulator causing these problems I think I read that at some geek site... I will disconnect the non working D-bracket and see if the speaker will tell me anything
This is why I don't buy Hardware like some other on here then buy a motherboard and they don't work together.. I can't afford to make mistakes I was going to use a ATI graphics card but with the Nvidia I said no..  now my HDTV card won't work, Waaah... Ok I am just upset because the board didn't fire-up like I wanted it to after all reading I done. Please let me know if you find out anything between now and 2pm Monday.. Shipping Time and I will do the same...

  • Difference between K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI and K8N-SLI Platinum

Hey guys.... I have one question and i hope you can help me.
I'm about to get an MSI SLI Platinum motherboard, but it seems that there are two versions, the K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI and the K8N-SLI Platinum.
What is the real difference between them? As i can see in the manual, the Neo4 version has the additional SATA2 and Gbit LAN controller.
Anyone: Does your K8N-SLI board have 4 or 6 SATA2 ports? and 1 or 2 LANs?
At this picture  http://www.midtdata.dk/asp/index.asp?varernr=K8N-SLI-PLAT&goto=productinfo&mainfunc=link I can see that there are 6 blue SATA connectors (lower right corner), and 2 LAN ports left to the LPT port... But the description says 4 SATA and 1 LAN, and so says the manual.
To all owners of this mobo:  Does this picture look like your K8N-SLI Platinum or does it look like your K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI ?

  • SLi nVIDIA 4 k8N PLatinum Problem

I just got the motherboard in question but it is not picking up my hdd, its a Seagate st340810 and it is pluged into IDE 1 MAster, ive auto detected the slot in the bios but still no joy, i have been told i need to install the SATA drivers, but how do i do this if i cant boot up? Thanks in advance for the help.

Is drive sata or ide? They are two different drives and connectors.  The serial ata
drive wire is extremely thin and can only be plugged in one way.  In any event,
recheck all cable connections to make sure they are firmly seated.  Ide drives need to be aligned
with the cable correctly and its pins.  Look for any color on one side of the cable.  Usually
color stripe goes to pin one.  Most drives auto configured themselves.  Last, remove connections to
any CD drives or DVD drives before troubleshooting your hard drive.

  • SLI clip failure, SLI mode selector card will not stay in place

Sometime overnight, the rubber clip securing my SLI mode selector card failed, and now the card won't stay seated in the socket.
Part of the clip that seats through the motherboard broke, and now I cannot use the clip at all. Where would I obtain replacements for this piece?
    -El Queso

I have a few extra ones that came with my motherboard. they were in a little plastic pouch, did you not get any included? i would call MSI and ask them to mail you some, otherwise, i would gladly mail you a few myself.

  • MSI P7N Diamond can't SLI and Triple SLI in Vista x64?

Any brothers here can tell me what the issue with it?
Currently on Vista Ultimate x64 and using the nvidia  169.25_forceware_winvista_64bit_english _whql driver.
Can't SLI and don't even say about triple SLI.
    plug in 3 x 8800gtx all can't work.

Also check to make sure your power supply is certified to support 3-way SLI with 8800 GTX cards.  I have a CoolerMaster Real Power Pro 1000 and it is not certified for 3-way with 8800 GTX cards.  It IS certified for 3-Way with the 9800 GTX cards.  The 8800 series apparently draws a bit more power.
Check the SLI-certified power supplies here: http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_build_psu.html
i thou the PSU listed at Slizone is just a guideline? Oh men. Can't imagine i spend so much on the enermax psu and in the end i doesn't have enough juice for 3 cards.

  • Lower frames in 3dmark06 with SLI vs NON-SLI

    Hi there
I posted awhile back about the SLI thing with 2 8800 gts'. When i got the two cards and SLI'd them the first time round, i'd get around 100+ fps with the first graphics test when it first starts out in 3dmark06. However it does not seem to reach that anymore only staying around 80 when it starts out. Worse still if i disable SLI through the Nvidia Control panel the frames actually GO UP! I can't seem to figure out what is going on. It seems to happen in games like Crysis as well with fps actually increasing when disabling SLI.  I have the latest Nvidia drivers for both motherboard and graphics card, XP pro service pack 3 final and the hardware is:
    zalman 850W PSU
    Asus striker 2 formula mobo
    intel 8200
    g.skill pc6400 4g memory
    2X MSI 8800 gts
    and 250gb HDD (seagate)
    Thanks in advance, kenshin929

    Hi thanks for your replies;
I just thought there wasn't much to lose so i reinstalled XP pro. The drivers i'm using are standard CD supplied drivers from Asus for the striker 2 formula and for the 8800 gts' are one's from nvidia; 169.21. After reinstalling everything (checking the cards were physically in their correct position) SLI finally seems like it's doing what it's supposed to be...i.e. greater # of frames with SLI versus without. I think it may be the drivers i downloaded from (the latest ones) for the 780i chipset that has something to do with the problem. Anyways everything works now so thanks alot nevertheless!

  • MSI P6N SLI Platinum and SLI!

    Hello!
This motherboard comes with that SLI switch Card (required to be inserted before SLI function works)
Also how can I remove that card from its place?
And in what manner do I have to insert that card to make SLI function work?
    Helpful replies will be appreciated...

Pull the 2 metal levers at the sides sideways and the card will flip out - Turn it around (Theres 2 arrows saying "non sli mode" and "sli mode") Put the side that says "sli mode" facing the connector, press it down and the metal clips will click back into place.

  • MSI P6N SLI sound problem under windows 7

    Hi all!
I have an MSI P6N SLI mainboard and I have installed win7 ultimate x64 to get a look on that OS. Everything works fine expect one thing: I have no sound. I tried to install manually the realtek sound driver but no changes. When I check the Volume Control Options then neither the Speakers nor the Realtek Digital Output checked (but the speaker is plugged in).
However I have sound under Linux.
Could someone help me? (and sorry if I have missed the topic which resolves this problem if there is any)

    Hi everyone,
hope it's ok to refresh this thread - I did not want to open up a new one, because this one matches my problem perfectly - but my speakers are plugged-in the right way
I'm running Win7 64 on the MSI P6N SLI (not v2 no Platinum) and am unable to install the sounddriver (well not correct - I did install the driver). The upgrade advisor said all green (under Win XP 32) and the MSI-Driver-Page propagates Win7 32/64 is supported for the SoundCard of my Board.
The driver installs just fine, but the device won't come out of "I have a problem"-state - always telling me "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" (I event tried installing the driver manually with pointing the win-hardware-setup-routine to the driver-directory) - still no use - I removed and rebootet serveral times...
Hope anybody has a solution for this problem (I'm taking the posts above as a "this has to work"-basis so i'm not ready to give up and go out there and buy a new soundcard )
Thanks in advance for any hint.

What kind of problems you have?
    Have you tested in XP?
    PSU details.
    Latest drivers from Nvidia installed?
Power cables to both VGA's connected?
    SLI Bridge connected?
    Hi,
    Answers best I can below:
Q: Have you tested in XP?
No, sorry.. I only have Vista x64 platform to use and test (license only  )
    Q: PSU details.
posted above, but here you go...
    Rosewill RX750-S-B Xtreme 750W ATX12V v2.2 EPS12V v2.91  (voltages per bios in spec)
Q: Latest drivers from Nvidia installed?
Yes (data from dxdiag for you)
    Driver Version: 7.15.0011.6375 (English)
    DDI Version: 9Ex
    Driver Attributes: Final Retail
    Driver Date/Size: 10/4/2007 17:14:00, 4993024 bytes
    WHQL Logo'd: Yes
Q: Power cables to both VGA's connected?  &  SLI Bridge connected?
Interesting point   With this particular setup, these MSI NX8500GT TD256EH cards do not have SLI bridge and do not require power plugged into video card.  SLI option has onboard bridge controller and is recognized by nvidia drivers and nTune control panel (i am actually able to enable SLI this way w/o a bridge)  yes, I had to rub my eyes too a few time while researching this configuration.
Mainboard supports ATX 24pin powerconnector (ATX1) and a ATX 12V (JPW1) 8 pin connector.  The power supply supports these types of connections to mainboard.  I will need to reboot after this post and do a visual inspection of reported BIOS voltages for you though and will do so.

  • REBRANDING?? I have different product than box says!! Neo4 or SLI Platinum!?

ok. I have been wondering now for a while why my SLI only works with one set of drivers (very old ones 66.77). I got to looking around and found a site http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/other/111 that introduced to me that there are a few different mainboards with very similar and in my case, contradicting names. There are 3, the K8N Diamond with SLI, the K8N Neo4 Platinum, and the K8N SLI Platinum. Well, I bought the K8N Neo4 SLI Platinum from newegg and it came in the box. Here is a picture of the box it came in:
It clearly says K8N Neo4/SLI on it. However, when I tried to update the BIOS to possibly fix the problem with the SLI 1 driver thing, I found out that I have the incorrect BIOS version. This version: W7100NMS v3. Here is a pic:
This made me wonder, because this is a 7100, and not the 7125 as MSI's website says a Neo4 Platinum SLI is. I mean, it says Platinum when in starts up:
So, I took a closer look and examined the mobo itself and found a little sticker on the mobo that says this:
This is the problem, because of these three sites http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/other/111, the board that I have is a combination of 2 of the boards.
The picture of my board and the features exactlly matches the K8N SLI Platinum on this site http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=641, HERE IS A PIC (LOOKS JUST LIKE MINE EXCEPT MINE HAS A STICKER THAT SAYS K8N NEO4 PLATINUM however the name of my board is a combination a few of the boards. (Namely this one (the neo4!!) http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=637.
This is crazy , so I don't know what happened here. I got the board I was supposed to get because it has SLI and all the other stuff, but it was listed under the name of neo4 platiunum SLI. Even the American MSI site has it named Neo4 Platinum/SLI here http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8N_Neo4_Platinum/SLI&class=mb
Ok, so maybe the boxes can be used with both Neo4 Platinum and SLI Platinum? Maybe the sticker on my motherboard is wrong and that is causing all of the massive confusion for me?? MSI is still mislabeling the board in the bios section and on their american site, the tw site is fine I guess, just the name is not the same as mine.
Does anyone understand what I am saying? Can anyone make sense of what I am saying and find an answer? I still can't get SLI to work with anyhting other than v 66.77 drivers. :-(

Okay, maybe I'm just too tired, but I think you're confusing things in your own head a bit, to be honest.
The MS-7100 IS the Neo4 Platinum SLI.  It will have two x16 PCI-E slots and the SLI card in between them for setting the slots for x8/x8 in SLI mode, or x16/x1 for single graphic card mode.  The MS-7125 is the Neo4 Platinum, which I do believe is the NForce 4 Ultra chipset board.  It has one x16 slot, and if memory serves a x4 PCI-E slot, and one x1 PCI-E slots.  It's not an SLI board, the BIOS for the MSI Neo4 Platinum is NOT for the MSI Neo4 Platinum SLI.
    From MSI's USA site:
    K8N Neo 4 Platinum SLI:  http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8N_Neo4_Platinum/SLI&class=mb
    K8N Neo 4 Platinum:  http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8N_Neo4_Platinum&class=mb
Those are, best of my knowledge the two NForce 4 boards so far released for North America.
NOW, the K8N Diamond was released everywhere else other then North America.  It is the same board as the K8N Neo 4 Platinum SLI except for some minor details.  I think there's a sideways blowing fan for the MOSFET heatsink near the CPU, the K8N Diamonds may (or may not) have came with a wi-fi card, and the K8N Diamond also includes a little card with log-on details for a forum only open to people who buy that board.  It's otherwise the same as a k8N Neo 4 Platinum SLI...I should know, I have a k8n Neo 4 Platinum SLI, and I put on a beta BIOS for a k8N Diamond, runs fine.
As an aside, mine has a sticker for the name badge instead of being silk screened on also, right above the primary x16 PCI-E slot.  Never pulled mine off, but I wouldn't be shocked if it says K8N Diamond under it.
Why they did a Diamond for the rest of the planet, K8N Neo 4 Platinum SLI for North America, I don't know...but I've seen that a lot with film cameras and some digital...a Canon EOS A2e in the USA is a Canon EOS 5 for the rest of the planet. If you go to Canon's online museuem, they show where they rebadge the same camera body for different nations...in some cases, you'll even see 3 rebadgings, a North American, an European one and an Asian one, all otherwise the same camera except for a minor feature.
So anyway...never seen it with motherboards until now, but I guess they are starting to do the same, make variants of the same exact board for each major market.
EDIT:  Forgot to mention, but as I said, I also have your motherboard.  I'm using beta Graphics driver 71.20, got it from www.guru3d.com, and it works well for me.  Tried a couple others there, and they were iffy, so I'd suggest 71.20 personally.
