P6N SLI Plat and floppy drive not working

System says the floppy drive works fine, but I put in a disc and it doesn't recognize it. All I get is, "Please insert disc".
Windows says that drivers are up to date.
I really need to get it working so I can do a fresh OS install with raid drivers on the floppy.
I think im just retarded, or both my floppy drives are dead... or both my floppy discs are dead.
Any ideas?

From what I'm reading it sounds like you are able to boot to Windows at the moment right?
If so, why not skip using a floppy disk to load driver, and just slipstream your RAID drivers into a Windows install CD?

Regarding your floppy issue, it's very possible for your floppies to be dead. Almost all of mine that I have around are toast by the time I get around to using them.
If you're dead set on using a floppy to load your RAID drivers, go buy a couple new floppies and see if you still have the same problem. If so, then you're a new $14 floppy drive away from solving your problem...

P6N Sli Plat. and Wolfdale

Hi...does anyone know for sure if the P6N Sli Plat. can use the E8400 or E8500? According to the compatibility list, either "stepping" version of either cpu is compatible if your board has Bios ver. 1.7. But still I am cautious about buying one of those cpu's since I can't seem to find on forums where somebody has done this successfully (with 1 exception where they played with voltages and all that). In fact even since bios 1.7 I still only read about people trying it without success.

Going sli with those gts will help when the going gets tough and deliver more frames per second for a smoother gaming expierence. Those new nvidia drivers havent made any difference as far as i can tell. I see youre using klipsch speakers good choice there is no better option in my mind for i own a set of chorus 2s for my stereo and a huge klipsch fan, nothing makes the neighbors hate you more than rattling knick knacks off thier shelves in the houses around me.

Floppy drive not working on Neo2-FIS2R

This is a bizarre one. When we first set the system up, the a: wouldn't work. So we tried 2 different floppy drives and 3 different cables. Eventually the floppy drive just started to spontaneously worked - this allowed us to set up the Intel RAID array (since windows XP needs the F6 + disk in A: to install the drivers).
Then, after having XP installed, the a: wouldn't work from windows. This was rather bizarre.
Then later on it just spontaneously started working again, so I took the opportunity to flash to bios 1.3. Now it has stopped working, and that didn't trouble me so much as I don't have much need for an A: generally.
However I was overclocking the system, and evidently had too low a voltage on the memory, did a memory benchmark in SiSoft Sadra and it hung in the middle, so I reset the computer. Ever since that, booting into Windows had some strange problems, CoreCenter, among other programs, would not start correctly - it would show up in the processes, but the window wouldn't show. Likewise running Sandra or 3dMark, they'd show up as active processes but would not actually be usable. Until I played a music file in winamp - then suddenly all the programs would open up.
So I figured, right, time to reinstall windows. And it has since turned out that my hard drives were buggered somehow (or at least, they are now) and so I have to format them and start from scratch. Thus leading to the problem.
How are you supposed to install the drivers for RAID from an A: if your A: does not work? The drive light goes on as if it's trying to read, and it makes noises with the head moving around or something, but it just will not recognize any disk in the drive. Including putting a valid windows 98 boot disk and restarting - it says it is searching for a boot record, but cannot find one on the disk.
We have tried 3 different cables and 2 different floppy drives, various settings for turning the FDC on the system on and off to no avail. The curious thing is that it's randomly started working by itself in the past.
Anyone have any ideas what's up? We're trying to find a PCI floppy controller right now to see if we can just avoid the problem completely.

I found the problem, it was rather stupid, and probably pretty system-specific, but just incase anyone else has the same problem and it drives them insane...
The problem was a mechanical one - the case I have has a panel that it puts on over top of the floppy drive. There is a button that connects with the eject button on the drive. The problem was the drive was seated about 2 mm too far forwards, so when you put a disk in the drive, it was pushed too far back and not properly seated, making it unreadable.
Fixed it now though.

Floppy drive not working, Light stays on

My floppy drive is not working. I bought a new floppy drive, its detected by the BIOS, but with a disk inside nothing happens, lights don't even come on.
So I swapped it with an older working floppy drive from another PC. With this one the lights come on and stays on. I let it boot to Windows XP (light still on) and I insert a disk, you can hear it spinning it, it keeps spinning it until I eject the disk, also windows puts a message box saying "please insert disk". I searched the forums and found https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=44664.0 checked my cable it was connected the right way. For the hell of it I reversed it, nothing happened. This cable was the round cable that comes with the motherboard (k8n Neo2 platinum), so i tried an older flat cable nothing same result.
The drive is detected in the BIOS. Windwos XP shows it in driver manager and its says working properly.
What could it be?

Sad to say it's what you've already tried. The cable is into the floppy upside down.
Make sure your using the cable end connectors not any mid cable plugs.
The ones supplied by MSI have often had problems.

I have been installed Solaris 10 x86 1/06 beta but after installation there is no possible to use floppy drive. I cannot mount it.

Solaris 10 x86 GA. Not sure if it is OK for Solaris 10 x86 1/06 beta.

Webcam and usb drive not working--possible hardware issue?

I recently purchased a Lenovo ideapad U510 with Windows 8. I bought it as a returned machine but the Staples employee didn't know why it had been returned and thought it was just because the buyer didn't like Windows 8. When I first set it up I kept getting an error message that my usb device was not recognized, even though I had never plugged anything in. As I was leaving the country, I dismissed the issue and decided to deal w/ it when I returned to the US, since my other usb drives worked fine.
However, later my integrated webcam stopped working as well. It worked one time when I used Skype but not after that. I checked online forums for possible solutions, and most said I needed to download an updated driver. I didn't think this was the issue b/c when I went to device manager and tried to update my driver for the easycam, it said I already had the most up-to-date driver. I have uninstalled drivers, downloaded and re-installed drivers, and even refreshed my computer, all to no avail.
Here are the error messages I receive:
In device manager>view>show hidden devices>imaging devices>Lenovo EasyCamera, device status says
Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)
To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.
When I try to run the Bison setup: Lenovo EasyCam has not found!
When I try to run the Chicony setup: Setup failed! Please Plugin camera and install driver again!
So, I'm thinking it's not a driver issue, but I'm not a techie and don't know what else it could be. Wondering if the usb problem and webcam problem are connected. Found another forum post that said maybe the webcam is not connected to the motherboard...suggestions?

I am certain it is a hardware issue from the problems youre describing. I would contact Lenovo. They may try to have you purchase their "software" support, but don't let them. I had wifi issues and they tried to make me spend $90 because I was too lazy to figure it out on my own.
Make sure when you're calling support that you tell them that you restored to factory default and before you send your computer in, back up your data. Also tell them that it's a new computer and you do not want to pay for shipping... They will most likely comp you shipping in both directions.

MSI P6N SLI Platinum- Wake on Keyboard Not working

Minor issue...... but the wake on keyboard is not working consistently. I still have version 1.0 of the bios. I can set it in the power management and it works! maybe once..... then nothing. Works again (once) when you reset it. But doesn't consistently stay working! I have a USB mouse, so the wake on PS2 mouse isn't happening.
Any thoughts?
It's not a huge issue but I would like the bios options to be working as it looks like they were intended. It's just different in that my last 3 machines I could turn on from hitting a key on the keyboard and not having to get the power button on the case. I'm using the same Microsoft corded keyboard that was working for this on the last build.

I did get it resolved with the wake on S3 Mode, you know hit any key. Here's the test to tell if your MB is good or bad. The easiest way is go into BIOS and turn on your number lock, make sure the light is on your keyboard, also make sure your bios is in "S3" mode w/hit any key option on. While in bios turn off your PC w/the case PB, does your number lock light stay on? If it does, your PC will boot-up. I can repeat this over and over. If you get the same results, the next test will be the last. when you turn the PC off in Bios, and the number lock light stays on, switch off your power supply, and wait about 10 sec. and then turn your power supply back on, if your keyboard number lock light never came back on, your "S3" mode on your MB is BAD according to the MSI tech. I like this MB, but it's time for a RMA. I hope the next MB wakes up right.

Uzzi, Did what you suggested and the light stays on when turning the PB off but then turns off and does not come back on when the power supply is cycled. I sent in a tech support request to MSI Tech. Did they tell you to RMA it? I guess I could send it back to the Egg for replacement..... but hate to keep eating shipping costs!

Word, Pages, and google drive not working

I'm on 10.8.5
Yesterday everything was working fine. I was taking notes in a google document. This morning when I tried continuing my notes, I was able to type two words before the tab crashed with the "aw snap. something went wrong" error. I cannot access any google drive files on either Chrome or Safari (latest versions). Chrome continues to give me the "aw snap" error, while Safari simply crashes when I try to access a google drive file. However, my drive works perfectly fine on another computer. I've spoken with google support and done all the troubleshooting they requested of me, but they are still trying to figure out what's wrong.
When I downloaded one of my drive files as a docx and tried opening it in MS Word 2011, Word crashed. Now Word crashes on startup, another thing to add to my problems. When I downloaded the same file as an .rtf and tried opening it, TextEdit crashed. (Fortunately, TextEdit still launches). I was only able to open the downloaded file if I saved it as a .txt
To fix Word, I have tried everything. I deleted the downloaded google doc. I created a new user. I deleted the plist file things, but nothing works.
I bought Pages a few years ago, and kept it zipped. I have never really used it. I unzipped it and launched it, and after a few seconds, it also crashed.
To reiterate, neither Safari nor Chrome can open any of my google drive files (all other websites I tried work fine), and a file I downloaded from my drive seems to have broken my Word, and possibly Pages.
So now, I have no working word processors (unless you count TextEdit...), which is problematic since I'm a student. Are these problems the result of malware that targets word processors? I have not recently downloaded any programs. Everything was working fine just yesterday. Aside from my computer being unable to access most of my word processing programs or word processing sites, I see nothing else wrong with it. I'm very tired and frustrated. Any help?

I HAVE to use Google Drive at the school I teach at, because the school district has decided to use Google instead of getting a site license from Microsoft. Actually, I have figured out how to upload them: first I need to export them as a Word doc. I can read the documents I put on Google Drive on my home iMac by accessing my personal Google account, but I can't access them on my home computer when using the school email Google account. Still working on this.

No fan and disc drive not working...MacBook Pro

I have a MacBook Pro that is a little over a year old. Recently I noticed that my fan never runs and the disc drive isn't working. Is there something I can do or do I need to take it somewhere to have it looked at? Thank you.

It is the CD Drive. Sorry, I am not tech smart. When I try to insert a disc (CD, DVD), no matter how many times I try, it will not take it. It has worked fine in the past. I started doing research in forums, etc, and kept being led to fan issues. So I started paying attention. My laptop makes no noise at all, not on start up, not after I've had it on for hours, never. I'm assuming that means the fan isn't working. Although....you know what they say about assumptions. I kept thinking maybe I just undocked something but I'm not having any luck figuring out what's wrong.

P6N SLI Plat and g92 sli question

Do any of you guys with this mb run it in sli with the new g92 nvidia cards and if so what kind of results did you get? I'm very tempted to get another evga gts 512 and run it in sli however I'm concerned about the scaling in vista 64 and I'd like to hear from others who might have already done this. I really haven't seen any benchmarks using this mb so I'm looking for some personal experiences to use as a guide. I considered swapping mb's however if this one will yield good results I might try it first before spending more money. Thanks.
Edit: I looked at the sale ad one minute too long and have already ordered it with overnight shipping. I should get it tomorrow and once installed I'll let you guys know how it goes. I'm sure that it won't be long before a new sli mb finds its way into my pc.

P6N SLI Plat and realtek onboard sound in vista ?

Ok for everybody who's running the onboard sound in vista I have a question for you. In your realtek settings do you have a multiband eq to adjust settings or is everything just a preset to choose from? I dl'd the latest realtek drivers 1.67 and no multiband eq, only thing is presets that you must pick from to shape sound. I'm looking for a multiband eq so I can adjust each frequency myself. Everything is just a preset to choose from. I could not find an EQ anywhere. I was actually able to get some nice sound out of the onboard chip. First of all I put a check in "speaker fill". This alone will get sound in all speakers on a surround sound system. Second, I went into "sound effects" and "Room", and then selected "live". Again, this alone will give you sound in all speakers. And third, I set up "room correction" according to my speaker layout. All these combined have produced beautiful sound through my Z680 sound system. Is it true surround sound? I have no idea, but I like it.

The error message probably said "unsupported or damaged"
The T3 requires Lightroom 3.4.1 or later. You can either upgrade to a more current version of Lightroom (version 5.6 is the most recent) or you can use the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert the RAWs to DNG, which should import into Lightroom properly.

Blue ray drive not working all of a sudden and not reading any discs

I am using hp hdx 18 laptop which is a few years old and it was working fine until recently i found that the drive doesn't read discs anymore but the device manager shows it's fine and it tries to read by spinning and making noise and then stop
I tried to boot the machine from dvd in setup but it will just go straight to HDD bootup.
is it busted? just wondering what I can do to see if there's anything I can do before getting an external drive

It could have failed as suppected. When you tried to boot to a DVD or Restore disk, did you remember to change the boot order to DVD/CD first device?
The drive is normally a replaceable device but an external device should work OK, too.
