Alright I will try those things...do i have to put the newest bios on the USB key or is that done for me to?
no just execute tool from windows 1st and point to the bios file or bios .zip archive when asked, choice your USB letter and wait a tool to finish. then reboot and boot from it. no need to copy anythink to the usb key.
look for steps here:

P6n SLI PLATINUM bios v1.2
So I upgraded to 4gb ram finally, and have got it to work without errors in dimm slots 2 and 4, and have been having performance issues such as slow loading, stuttering in games, and just in general slowdown with loading up applications, but absolutely no crashes or freezes of any kind, no BSODs or anything else that would be hardware related I assume.
Defragged, fresh install of windows 7, video card drivers updated and everything else checks out fine. The only thing I can think of is that over in HardForum doing a google search brought me to this post:http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1164174 with issues related to 4gb on the mainboard having slowdowns with older bios versions.
Seeing as how this is relevant to me getting new memory, my patriot memory gave out with BSODs so I was forced to upgrade but had way better performance with just 2gb stick of ram (even in win7).
Should I do a bios update?
Specs:
EVGA 8800gts 540mb 195.62 driver
4gb A-Data ram 5-5-5-12 2t clock, 1.9v
Windows 7 64-bit
Bios v1.2 A7350NMS P6N SLI Platinum Socket LGA-775
Core2duo E6600 @2.4ghz
I haven't really done much upgrading since I purchased this a few years back, and quite surprised to see the hit and stuttering in performance in games all of a sudden after upgrading to new ram, and the ram tested out fine for 3 days straight doing multiple passes with memtest 4.0. I tried doing it in DIMM slots 1 and 3 but have been getting errors, maybe I've got a bad board?
Quite confused as to what step I need to take next, thanks for any help!Quote

P6N SLI Platinum BIOS issue...
So I purchased an e8400 processor after the 1.6 BIOS update came out for my P6N SLI Platinum, got it yesterday. I put the processor in and it didn't work . I turned to Google to have the internet fix the issue, and it seems if I adjust some options in my BIOS, it may make the e8400 work. Two of the things it said to change were EIST and C1E. I went into my BIOS, and tried hitting F4 in the CPU menu to get C1E to show up, but it won't. The EIST option is no where to be found either...
Anyone else running into the same issue, or got a e8400 to work after changing stuff in the BIOS?
Thanks a lot!
EDIT: Forgot to post my system specs
Mobo: P6N SLI Platinum
CPU: Intel Pentium D 930
RAM 2GB (1GB x2) Patriot DDR 667 (PC 5300)
GPU: eVGA nVidia GeForce 8800GT
PSU: Thermaltake 500WI used that bios, but on my regular p6n sli and got it to work. here is my topic on it

Dont clear the bios after you take out the old cpu or it wont work
I have been tinkering with it all day just to see what the actual problem is and it doesnt seem that it is the EIST OR C1E. from what I have done it seems that it is a problem with the voltages that keeps it from booting. If you change those with the other cpu in and then save and exit. Dont let it reboot, shut it off before it starts to boot up again and put the e8400 in -

MSI P6N SLI Platinum (Bios 1.7) No go with E8500
I have seen the Earlier post regarding the same issue. Hence updated my bios from 1.5 to 1.6 and finally 1.7. But still my motherboard is not booting up.
As per the article Bios 1.6 should work fine for E8500.
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=prodcpu2&prod_no=1140&maincat_no=1
Unfortunately the E8500 STILL refuse to boot, no matter what i try.
- No post screen,
- No error beeps
- No keyboard leds lightning up
- No indicators on the D bracket
I am using a 4 PIN CPU power connector.
Now this CPU work fine on my another motherboard Asus P5N-MX with same power supply.Contact MSI Technical Support about this issue and see what they suggest:

MSI P6N SLI Platinum bios 1.7 issue
I was running an e4300 at 3.0 with vcore up 1 bump, nb up 1 bump and memory at 2.0w with bios 1.1 . I updated to 1.7 and now I can't get to be stable. I ran orthos for 3 hours , no errors. But my computer locks up randomly now, freezes up. It never did that before. Sometime it won't restart without clearing the cmos. I only updated the bios because I was thinking of getting an e5200.
Any help would be great. Running my computer at 1.8 makes me sad.
bobUse the 1.6 version.
Ive been running it for a year and a half and have zero issues with it. -
K8N SLI Platinum - BIOS Update
A while ago, whilst I was still busy setting up my PC, I kept noticing threads about a 209 Mhz FSB issue (yet kept focussed on my own, more basic problems). Now that my PC is running okay, I was hoping that someone could update me on the situation - is BIOS v3.6 the solution to the 209 Mhz issue?

Let me interpret: "moreover wht rwhat are the temps uyou people r getting on a e6750"
Let's not be so lazy with the keyboard. I speak and write English well. I had to scan your "sentence" a couple of times to understand.
Imagine the trouble someone who doesn't speak/read/write English would have. I did not fully correct the "sentence" above. I just tried to
make it a bit more readable.

MSI P6N SLI PLATINUM no printer

P6N SLI Platinum, audio driver update gives "No Driver was supported..."
I have the audio driver from the CD that came with the mobo, but I wanted to update it to the new version. Currently I have R1.67 2.32, I tried to install the driver (R1.83 2.51) from http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1140 but get the message "No Driver was supported in this driver package".
Also, I went to the Realtek site and got their even newer driver R1.84 but it asked me to remove the previous driver first, I'd rather check with the boards first to see what is going on.

BIOS 1.4
Realtek Audio onboardCould you please point me to where I can locate Live BIOS, first I hear of it. Thanks for the input btw.
Another off topic question. Does the Dual Core Center work ok with Vista x64? Wondering just in case before I get to using it. On my first Vista install is seemed to work, 2nd format it would come up with 2 error messages and not start:
"Error! unable to load ntuneoem.dll" and "Failed to load overclocking driver! This program must run as an administrator."
I have ntune installed on my 2nd format (which I found out doesn't work in Vista 64 properly) but cannot uninstall it from Add/Remove. A wizard window comes up and closes in the same seconds when I click uninstall. Tried to uninstall using the MSI CD which with I loaded it, still gives an error (tried to google the error msg but the msg is extremely rare and doesn't point to the problem). Going to have to manually remove it it seems and hope I get it all. -

I think thats it if you need any more info let me know. Thanks!Hello and welcome,
First of all, 1066MHz isnt garantueed to work on that board, I have the same and although is says so on the box, it isnt supported, look here:
http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=prodmbspec&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=170&cat3_no=&prod_no=1140#menu
533/667/800Mhz only.
To reach 3.6 try following:
Raise NB step by step, until ~1.35V max, SB @stock, FSB VTT to 4 - 8%
Set FSB to 1600 and mem to 800 on auto timings, you can adjust those later.
And leave Vcore on 0.100V as said in your post.
See if you can get it to run then. -
Can anyone recommend me good quality ram for my P6N SLI Plat. board ? I know some memory is incompatible with it so I need to know which one I can buy that will work and good memory.
I have Q6600 + 8800GTS 640 and P6N SLI Platinum bios v.1.1.I've been extremely happy with running Corsair Dominator PC-8500C5D's (rated 1066 but 800 chipped), in both P7N & P6N. If your OS is XP, the 2X1G set in slots 1 & 3 works good. If you have Vista, 2X2G set in slots 1 & 3 would be a good combo as well.

P6N Sli Platinum E6600 Bios version ?
Hi.
I have the P6n Sli Platinum, I used the Live Update tool to upgrade my Bios.
The Bios it upgraded to is version 1.7 but on the Cpu support page E6600 should use the 1.4 Bios ?
After the upgrade my computer became slow and started to stall on me and about 1 hour later my video card died.
I have tried another video card and the motherboard works fine.
I'm just wondering if version 1.7 should not be used with E6600 ?
If not, why ?
And could the bios upgrade kill my video card ?
I know it sound weird but I wanted to check...
Thanks.Quote

No, you are reading it the wrong way: What the CPU Support list is trying to tell you is that you need at least BIOS Version 1.4 to ensure that the E6600 is fully supported. Using v1.5, v1.6 or v1.7 with an E6600 is no problem.
Quote

It is totally okay to use that BIOS Version with the E6600.

and about 1 hour later my video card died.
That has nothing to do with the processor & BIOS Version. It was probably just a coincidence.
Quote
And could the bios upgrade kill my video card ?
That is very unlikely.

I used the Live Update tool to upgrade my Bios.
Please try to avoid MSI Live Update (or any other Windows based BIOS Flashing Application) in the future. Windows based BIOS Updates are very risky. >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<< instead, if a BIOS Update should every be necessary again.
