We are using P6 version 7 SP3. When we go to Tools>Time Approval, a Java launch screen pops and then I am prompted to enter a user name and password, but the password is populated with ***********. When I enter the P6 login password, it fails. We are in native mode. Any help is appreciated.

    Try a Hard Reset.....
Press and hold the Wake / Sleep button AND the Home button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, it can take 10 or more seconds.  Ignore the swipe to turn off message.

when login screen appears my keybord doesn't work so i can't type my username and password on my macbook

I had my meeting with the Genius bar tech support. He reviewed all of the Apple Care history I have accumultaed over the last 4 weeks.  He looked at my system and couldnt find any software issues.  That led him to speculate it may be a hardware issue. After explaining that I spent over $5000 for my complete set up, I would not be happy with a repair on a brand new unit.  He spoke to store manager and they agreed to replace the defective MBP.
I have completed my migration using Set Up Assistant and ethernet connection from old MBP to new MBP and it went smoothly.  I migrated 324Gb in under 4 hours! Over night I created a complete backup using Time Capsule; again with an ethernet connection, and it took under 7 hours.
    Everything is operating as normal.
Hopefully, this issue is behind me.

  • SPNego - Login Screen Appears for IE Browser in Some machines.

    Hi,
We've done the SPNEGO Implementation for Portal SSO.
All the settings related to KDC in AD server, Portal WAS and IE browser client settings have been done.
In most of the machines with WINDOWS XP SP2, portal login screen is not getting appeared in IE and so SPNEGO is working fine.
But in few machines with WINDOWS XP SP2, portal login screen appears although the IE client setting like adding the portal url in Security Local Intranet, enabling integrated windows authothentication, enabling automatic logon in intranet zone  is done.
We have even followed the SAP Note 934138 and installed Microsoft hotfix KB899587, but still some machines with Windows XP SP2 are facing this issue.
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Aditya Metukul

    HI Aditya,
This might be due to proxy settings. Go to your IE -> Tools-> Internet Options -> Connections ->LAN settings -> If you are using Proxy settings then go to Advanced tab -> and add the portal URL under "Do not use Proxy servers for address beninging with".

  • Login screen appears on wrong monitor

This problem started when I upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite 10.10.2. It persists on 10.10.3
I have two monitors; the main one is 26", the other is 17". Both are NEC. The main monitor connects with a DVI-to-Mini display port adapter. The 2nd with a VGA to DVI adapter. Video card is the stock AMD 5770 with one DVI two mini display port connectors.
On startup, the Apple logo appears on my main monitor, as expected. Then the login screen comes up on the 2nd monitor. Once I'm logged in, the main monitor becomes the primary display again (according to my user account display preferences).
I've checked all the preferences, reset the NVram and the SMC, and tried plugging the the main monitor into the other display port. Nothing changes this.
It's not a big problem, but it's annoying.
    Any thoughts?

You can change the arrangement of the displays, and assign a primary one in the Displays system preferences (done by dragging the menu bar to the preferred primary display). However, this will not change what display is identified first by your hardware. If you have FileVault enabled, then the login screen you see will be loaded before the operating system is loaded. This login screen simply mimics the OS X login screen, but is in fact stored elsewhere on your disk and used to unlock it. As a result, this login screen will be shown on the display that is identified as the primary one in hardware, and then when OS X loads this may switch depending on your settings in the Displays preferences. Your options here are to either move your monitors on your desk, swap their connections to your Mac, or adjust the primary one along with the arrangement of them in the Displays system preferences (or a combination of these three) to find a setup that works as you want.
    1. When you initially boot and see the login screen, note the connection of this monitor to your Mac. This port is the primary one.
    2. Connect this port to the display you want to be the primary one (to show your login window, etc.)
    3. Once booted to OS X, go to the displays system preferences and ensure the menu bar icon is dragged to this monitor so OS X identifies it as the primary one.
    4. Adjust your display's arrangement accordingly in these system preferences.

  • I use to be able to connect to my shares on my windows 2000 computer via smb. Now the login screen appears but it shakes when I try to login no matter what?

I hav just upgraded from Lion to Mavericks.
Connection to my windows 2000 with smb doesn't work after uppgrading to Mavericks.
The login window appears but shakes as it doesn't recognize my password even if it is correct.
    Any solutions?

Back up all data if you haven’t already done so. There are ways to back up, even if you can’t log in. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore everything to the state it’s in now. If you’re not sure you can do that, STOP.
The procedure below may spare you the need for a clean reinstallation of OS X. If you don't feel comfortable carrying it out, don't. try.
Briefly, you need to delete the following file:
    /var/audit/current
If you already know how to do that, you can skip the rest of this message. Do it, and try again to log in.
Boot in single-user mode by holding down the key combination command-S at the startup chime. If you’re using an external USB keyboard, it must be plugged directly into a built-in port on the Mac, not into a hub. Release the keys when you see a black screen with scrolling white text. In this mode, there’s no graphical interface; just a command line. Initially, you can’t make any changes to files.
When the text stops scrolling, and you see a line ending in a pound sign (“#”), type the following command:
    mount -uw /
You must type the command exactly as given, with no mistakes. If you don’t feel able to do that, STOP. At this stage, no harm will be done if you make a mistake, but later, it will be. Press the return key.
    Next, type the following command:
    rm -i /var/audit/current
Press return. You should get the following output:
    remove /var/audit/current?
If that's not what you get, STOP. Type the single letter N, press return, and try again. Otherwise, type the single letter Y and pressreturn.
    Finally, enter the command:
    exit
Press return. The text will start scrolling again, and then the system will reboot. Try again to log in.

  • Can not get to Login Screen. Possible User Account or .plist Corruption?

I was helping a client who is upgrading both her desktop and a laptop machine. She had already started the process and she had used the migration tool to move her user account from her old G4 to both her new Mac Pro and MacBook pro. So basically both new machines were now clones of the old G4 which was running Tiger.
Everything was going well and we were busy doing some other stuff when I suggested to her that she should set up a secondary user account on each machine. This is something I suggest to users, because I have seen user accounts get corrupted, and if that account is the ONLY account on the machine, you are not going to be able to do anything on that machine (easily). At least with teh other account, you can log in and see the drive, etc.
So she set up a new user and also enabled fast user switching and I was about to show her how the whole user switching works, but when we choose to log out of her current account, the Mac went to blue screen and just got hung up. After much waiting we had to force a hard shut down. Upon restart we see the Apple logo and then go to the blue screen, but we never reach the login screen.
I wrote this off as a fluke, but also told her that I am not to comfortable with that and decided to completely wipe the drive and do a fresh install of everything and not use the migration assistant. All is well with that machine now.
So we moved on to the Mac Book Pro and we repeated the same addition of a user and upon logout it did the exact same thing. So by now I am sure that something in the library form the old G4 must be corrupt, because both of these machines were basically clones of that one. So we are probably going to do the same thing to this one too, but I was wondering if I could learn something from this.
Assuming that some .plist is corrupted, ( probably the com.apple.loginwindow.plist) I was thinking I could access the drive through target mode, find that. plist and delete it. But then that made me think, if I were to delete it, what would the Mac do at startup if it sees no .plist of the login screen or user accounts?
Also, is there a way to alter the login options through single user mode. So for example I am quite sure that it is the .plist for the log-in options that is corrupted. So if I could change the login option to automatically log into her account, thus bypassing the login screen, I think we can bypass this issue for now.
    Thanks.

First you don't delete the suspect .plist, you move or rename it. Deletion is down the road a piece
Second, when the system boots, it recreates any missing .plist files, presuming nothing else is wrong.
Many, including myself, have dragged the entire Preferences directory onto the desktop and rebooted without a problem.

  • Login screen sometimes without user icon & apple logo animation

Sometimes when I boot my MacBook Pro the login screen doesn't show my user icon and the apple logo is in it's final position without the sliding up animation. Is this a general know bug/isssue in lion? Luckily the password field is shown...

  • Login screen appears - sometimes...

Has anyone had 'issues' with the login security feature on OS X.
I have macbook air 13" ssd and have set the login to appear after 1 hour asleep, for some reason.
I find instant security is difficult to use as I am happy that the machine is 'relaxed' while I say talk on the phone etc.
So, after some sleeps I wake the maching to see the desktop in background but also with a login box.
I can simply cancel the login and I'm back into the machine, but this is not expected.
Also, I have waken the machine after 10hrs one time and found I see the desktop for about 1-2 seconds, then the login feature kicks in, but actually needs a login.
This is all a bit lightweight for a unix secure system - don't you think?

  • Login Screen list of users

After the most recent OSX Lion update (10.7.2) I now get an icon for both myself and the ""Guest" user account. I have the "Guest" user account disabled in System Preferences. Why is it now showing up on my login screen? Never did before.

Did you enable the root user? I just installed an IMac and eabling root caused the second user option to show up on the login screen.

  • Help, my user has disappeared in login screen except Guest User after updating to 10.7.2

  • [SOLVED] Black screen halfway through boot before login screen appears

I originally installed my Arch Linux 64 system on a quad core intel cpu with 4GB RAM and a Nvidia 9600 GT graphics card. Arch is installed on 2 500 GB HDD running on software RAID and LVM. A few months ago I decided I wanted to upgrade my machine to an i7-2600K with 8 GB RAM and a Nvidia 580 GTX graphics card. Since I was using pure software RAID I knew that I could just reuse my installation. So I popped in the drives into the new machine and glory glory Arch booted just fine. One thing I notied though and this has been bothered me since then. On my old machine I could see the whole boot process from start to finish. On my new machine I only see the first few seconds and then a black screen for few seconds and then I get the login screen (KDM in my case). Now I'm running a pure systemd system and I can see the boot process until
    [ok]     started loading random ...
and then the black screen sets in. Why does this happen? Why can't see if udev, samba etc. start correctly anymore?

I don't have the nouveau driver installed at all. But I finally got rid of the black screen. I simply added nomodeset to the kernel parameters in grub and now everything ass before.

  • App crashes 30+ times/day - BLUE SCREEN APPEARS - system reboots

    HELP!
I purchased a new Macbook Pro about 1.5 months ago, and am running PowerCADD (I work at an architecture firm). No problems on any of the other computers running 10.4, but for some reason my PowerCADD application crashes about 30 times or more per day! *NO ERROR LOG IT JUST GIVES ME A BLUE SCREEN, THEN REBOOTS THE COMPUTER.* All of my information is lost everytime it does this and it is very frustrating. I called PowerCADD and they were very surprised and had not seen this before.
They suggested ARCHIVE and INSTALL, they said that Apple might not have installed 10.5 properly. Any suggestions?????????
    thank you

Before doing an archive & instal there are other steps that might help. As this is a problem with a 3rd-party application Apple are usually interested in problems that might be their end of the problem and they usually cooperate well with other software providers in trying to resolve problems.
    1) Open Disk Utility from Applications/Utilities. Select your hard drive and run Repair permissions. If there is a list of ...is...should be... followed by 'Permissions repaired re-run this process until there are no further repairs needed. See whether this resolves the problem.
    2) If not, insert the original installation dvd and restart holding the C key until you see the Apple logo. In the first screen after loading is finished select language, then at the next screen go to Tools/Disk Utility. Again select your hard drive but this time choose Repair Disk. If any faults are found and repaired re-run this until no further faults are found. Also re-run repair permissions if faults were found. Restart and see how it goes.
    3) Check the PowerCADD website for updates and their support for any compatibility issues. If they have a discussion page check this to see whether there are any problems with Leopard.
Failing all this you could then try the archive and instal option.
