P7 1054 on Win7 64 bit not waking properly after sleep

We're experiencing a failure to wake after sleep, where the happy blue power light comes on, everything spins up...and totally fails to do anything. Powering off and on does not fix it...it requires unplugging the cord, holding the power button to drain residual power, reconnecting, and THEN it boots up.
I've updated the BIOS, disabled any hibernate, checked the BIOS to ensure none of its power settings are taking effect, and tried a number of sleep patterns and options.
Any other ideas or similar experiences with the P7-1000 line? I'm frustrated since, for some reason, it's showing the warranty as having expired much sooner than the actual purchase timeframe.

I own a p7-1026 which is, for the most part, the same computer. Everything is the same except I have a Phenom II X4 840T CPU vs. your Athlon II X4 645 CPU and yours has a 802.11 wireless b/g/n PCIe mini-card whereas mine doesn't.
Mine goes to sleep and wakes up perfectly everytime, all the time. I did erase the HP Windows 7 install and installed a clean copy of Windows 7 but I don't think that has a major impact on your issue.
Did you install any update before this issue arose??? Did you change any settings before this issue occured??? If you have any Windows restore points, you may try rolling the computer back to one of those dates to see if that helps. You may wish to view your Windows logs for a driver or process that is causing the problem. If you don't mind backing-up your data and preforming a HP Recovery... that should cure your problem.

  • Bonjour not wakeing up after sleep - again

It happens again, and again: after wakeing up from sleep, the network services do not wake up.
After my iMac wakes up, Safari tells me, that no "Internet Connection" is established. However, with ping etc., everything is fine. In "Bonjour Browser" I see that no Bonjour services are running at all!
This happens with only Ethernet cable connected in about 20% of all wakeups. Very annoying.
To solve it, I activate Airport, and deactivate immediately, then Bonjour wakes up and my internet connection, too.
Any hints? My former posting was archived (who?) and not yet answered.

I have exactly the same problem with my Mac mini 2009, also running MacOS X 10.6.3 – but on a more regular basis than you (in about 50% of cases). I don't have Little Snitch running, so whatever is the reason, it's not that.

  • MacBook not waking up after sleep

I have a new MacBook, less than a week old.
Sometimes after I open my MacBook after sleep, nothing happens. Only the light on the front turns off but the display does not turn on and I don't hear that noise that Apple computers always make when wake them up or turn them on. I can hear the computer on but nothing is happening. I have to hold down the power button to reboot.
    What should I do?

I had the same problem, sometimes three or four times a day. You may try "resetting your PMU" -- I did this on suggestion, but continued to have the problem.
I created a new user account and kept all of the default settings, and started using only that account for a while. The problem with coming out of sleep went away, and things were fine for a week so I assume it is something software-related. I switched back to my desired user login now, with still no idea what might be the cause of the problem. If I had to guess, I'd say it's a user-configurable OS setting, or application that cannot recover from sleep mode, that hangs the OS.
I saw on another thread that using "Secure Virtual Memory" is maybe the root cause of some graphics problems (video driver issue). If true, maybe it also causes the "failure to wakeup" issue. Some have also suggested the wake-up issue can be avoided by turning off "require password to come out of sleep mode." I have not tried this; I need security and the ability to lock my desktop.

  • Not waking up after sleep?

Anyone's Macbook does not wake up after a long period of sleep?

I've been experiencing the same problem with my MBP's failure to wake up after going to sleep. It doesn't seem to have an descernible pattern... it just won't wake up sometimes (not always). And to those who figure RAM will solve the problem, I have the full 2 gigs of RAM, and it still goes into a coma. At the office I use it docked to a 20" CRT screen, as well as several other peripherals such as hard drives, tablet, scanner, etc..... but it also goes inexplicably comatose when simply used as an unconnected laptop machine. It doesn't have to be a long sleep either... It became very embarrassing last week when before a major client presentation I checked my MBP materials, closed the lid and waited about 15-20 minutes for my shot at wowwing my clients... where it promptly failed to fire up and do its job. I had to ask them to wait while I rebooted... as they made typical PC jokes about Macs.
All I get from my local Mac dealer is "It shouldn't do that. Have you tried [insert list of ineffectual fixes here]?

  • Yosemite "[Thunderbolt 2] disk not ejected properly" after sleep

Since installing Yosemite, when my Mac Pro comes out of sleep, I get a "Disk not ejected properly" for each disk drive attached by Thunderbolt 2. This all worked fine on Mavericks.
(I have a similar problem with my dual displays, which again worked fine on Mavericks - I've posted this on a different thread under Mac Pro).
The manual solution is to physically unplug the drives, but doing this more than 10 times a day is not impressing me.
Mac Pro 2014, OSX Yosemite 10.10.1, dual DELL U2713HM monitors, La Cie 2Bug Thunderbolt 2

Not sure how that helps Illaass - that thread is just another question with no answers. It might be an idea if you read the thread before suggesting it?
There is another thread that suggests a solution (link below), but I've attempted that fix with no success. I also get the "Scheduled Backup Failed" that is mentioned by others.
    Re: Yosemite ejects external drives
Note that none of these issues happened before upgrading to Yosemite - everything was fine on Mavericks - and it appears as though Apple are keeping quiet on them.

  • OSX.8 not waking up after sleep.

I'm starting to hate Mountain Lion.
    1. When my Mac Book Pro goes to sleep for more then 15 minutes, it refuses to wake up.
The screen stays blank, but I see my external HD's lights flashing.
    2. Almost every other time I boot up, all I get is that Apple logo and the hated spinning disk.
It will finally boot some times after about 10 to 15 minutes.
The rest of the time it never boots. I have to do a hard power off.
    3. It never takes less then 10 minutes to boot.
    4. Why does it take 5 or more minutes to do a shutdown?
    5. Half the time it refuses to shutdown.
Get that gray screen with the spinning disk.
    6. Normal printing over my networks have stopped working.
        Both over Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
Two printers connected to an AirPort Express are now useless.
    7. Air Print will not print to my new HP ePrint printer.
Have to use HP's ePrint.com service to print.
That means you can NOT print from most applications.
    8. Time Machine keeps deserting my hard drive, so no backups occure.
Keep getting an error message about no drive selected for backup.
Time Machine folder can NOT be opened or viewed. No privilege.
Most of these problems started with Lion; that I had refused to use after installing.
Will I always be stuck using Snow Leopard?
Anyone have any solutions to these problems?

  • Thinkpad Yoga, not waking up after sleep

I have an issue with my Thinkpad Yoga (20CD).
Sometimes after I have left my Yoga unattended. I come back and find that it's on (red light on) but screen is black, but nothing happends when moving mouse or pressing keys.
I believe this is happens with regards to sleep mode.
I still have some analysis to do wether it happens when power is connected or not, external monitor is connected or not.
I have installed all the latest drivers from lenovos website.

    Hi Henrikh,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that your ThinkPad Yoga goes to sleep and doesn’t resume normally.
To disable the system from going automatically to sleep mode, go to control panel -> Power options -> on the left hand side, Change when the computer sleeps -> Change “Put the computer to sleep” to never.
To enable a device to wake up the system from sleep, Go to control panel -> Device manager -> Go to "Mice and other pointing devices" and double click on the mouse which you are using and check "Allow this device to wake the computer". Press OK.
Do the same for keyboard as well.
Do let me know if it helped!
    Best regards,
    Mithun.

  • Helix not waking properly after lid has been shut

I have a few Helix and they are all having this problem.
If you shut the lid and then open it the screen will stay black. You then have to shut the lid a second time and reopen for the screen to power on.
If you open the lid very slowly it powers on 100% of the time, when you open it quickly the screen powers on 50% of the time.  When the screen doesn't turn on you can press the power button and it will turn on but it should be turning on whenever the dock is opened.
I have updated the BIOS and the Firmware each to version 1.14, and the issue persists.
Anyone else seeing this issue or know a resolution/workaround?

    The issue occurs when:
You shut the lid the causing the Helix to sleep
If you reopen the lid before the red light in the ThinkPad logo (on the back of the Helix) has a chance to turn off that is when the issue occurs.
At times it takes up to approx. 8 seconds for the light to dim, if the lid is reopened during that time the screen stays black.
When this occurs, closing and reopening will get the screen to come back on, pressing the power button only works after the light on the back of the Helix has gone out.

  • Screensaver does not clear properly after sleep mode

henever I start my iMac up from sleep mode the screensaver doesn't clear so that I can enter my password. Instead, wherever my mouse is hovering the screensaver is erased in a sort of block by block mode? Then when I hit enter after typing in my password it goes onto the desktop and everything is fine. Anyone know why??

Where is the screen saver picture saved? If it's on an external HD that could be the  problem, move it to the internal drive in that case. This is explained in http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57354082-263/q-a-macfixit-answers/?tag=mnco l;txt

  • DP 1.25 not waking properly

My boot drive is an SATAII Seagate running to a SIIG SATA PCI card for Mac. Both of these devices have run perfectly in the past and this is the first instance of trouble I have experienced.
When I try to wake the machine (previously having been put to sleep), neither the mouse nor the keyboard will respond. I am using an Apple Pro Keyboard with a Mighty Mouse plugged into it, and the keyboard is plugged into the regular USB port on the Power Mac. The screen sits still with my password log-in box, but since I cannot type or move the mouse, it eventually goes back to sleep.
The only way to actually get it to log-in is to literally unplug the machine, plug it back in, and do a cold boot.
Any ideas as to what has happened that the USB is now not responding? I am not sure if it has to do with my boot drive being in a different location (than the regular bus) because this has not occurred before with my PCI SATA configuration.
    Thanks for the help.

I will attempt your method of unplugging the keyboard to see what happens. And yes, I could try plugging in the MM to the Power Mac, but it is currently out of reach; however, hopefully your first fix will do the trick.
    Answers to your other questions:
If I press the power button when it wakes up (but does not allow me to use the keyboard or mouse) it goes back to sleep, as it should because I set it up to do that.
I do not have an Apple CInema or other Apple display, just a regular LCD.
I do have an external USB hub but it is not in use at the moment. And neither is my installed USB2 PCI card. [As an aside, I've noticed that when I transfer lots of large files from something plugged into the USB2 PCI card to the hard drive on my SATA PCI controller, the whole task will freeze and the computer will not respond until I take the USB2 drive (usually flash) from out of the PCI card. I have a feeling I am maxing out the bandwidth with that usage, but have currently found no workaround - apart from me now looking for a large-capacity ATA100 drive instead of the SATA PCI setup.]
As you had mentioned, I went ahead and turned off "put drives to sleep whenever possible"; I had just done an enormous amount of backing up and transferring data and hadn't realized my fresh install had that option on as default.
And, quickly, I have noticed one quirk to this not-waking-properly issue... When I let the computer fall asleep from not being used for over my auto-sleep time, it will wake perfectly. But if I use the Apple > Sleep command, then the problem will occur at my next attempt to wake it.
Thanks for the help. Sorry for my delays, but I just moved into a new apartment.

I can't reinstall ML, nor can I create another user (unless I use Terminal, and I'm a novice at best with Terminal).
I could really use some help here as it's been nearly 24 and I am going CRAZY!   Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Aluminum Wireless Keyboard not working properly after Firmware update 1.1

    Hi,
Well, as the subject says, my keyboard is not working properly after I updated the firmware. The problem is that several keys (delete, down arrow, brackets and apostrophe) stopped working right after I installed the update. I never dropped it or hit it. And I did not stop or interrupt or did anything during the install. I take very good care of it.
I have already tried toubleshooting with the support page, restarting the iMac, taking off the batteries, setting it up with bluetooth again, going back a week with time machine and to reinstall the firmware. So, if you have something new for me to try, I will really apreciate it.
    Thanks in advance.
    Franco.

I have 24" iMac with the Apple wireless M&KB - I know this is basic but have you tried a fresh set of batteries? My KB will refuse to establish connection when batteries are on the weak side the firmware update may just be a co incidents. If your wireless mouse is working OK then I would guess the blue tooth is functioning.
Not sure about the 10.49 download - are your other file downloads completing properly? Are there any error messages?
    Steve

  • ITunes / iPhone not working properly after newest update...

iTunes is not working properly after the newest update...  It dosen't see my iPhone, the program acts very sluggish, and has trouble loading the Store.  Anyone have a solution or an explanation?  I have tried the suggestions found in other threads ie. restart, re-download, charge phone, restart phone and so on. Nothing works.  Everything was working fine until iTunes and the new ios were installed.  After that it all went to crap.  Thanks, Randy...

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:
iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
