P7-1446

My computer is stuck in some kind of a start-up loop. The screen remains blank most of the time. Occasionally a message will pop up that Windows has run into an error and must restart. I can't get to any where in the computer to do anything. When I first got the computer I had to reset it at least 8 times. I can't even get to safe mode.
How do I get it to a place where I can work with it?

Your best option would be to perform a Factory Restore.  Repeatedly tap the F11 key at boot to access the recovery partition or use the recovery disks hopefully you created when you got the computer.
It would also be advisable to perform hardware diagnostics.

  • Error Message = 3205: '~WF_ADHOC-1446' is not a valid role or user name

    Hi,
    I have an Item attribute of type 'Role' ('CREDIT_COMMITTEE_MEMBERS') and I am using that attribute as performer for two notification activities.
    For first notification, I create an adhoc role and assign it to the attribute and the notification goes successfully.
    I want to send reminder to the people who have not responded to the first notification.
    So I used the following query:
    SELECT recipient_role
    FROM wf_notifications
    WHERE (message_name = 'MSG_TO_CREDIT_COMM_NEED_APPR' or message_name = 'MSG_REMINDER_CREDIT_COMM')
    AND item_key = itemkey
    AND status = 'OPEN';
    The following code was used to update the Item attribute of type "Role"
    FOR rec_cc_role_names IN cur_cc_role_names
    LOOP
    IF l_role_count = 0 THEN
    l_role_users := rec_cc_role_names.recipient_role;
    ELSE
    l_role_users := l_role_users || ' ' || rec_cc_role_names.recipient_role;
    END IF;
    l_role_count := l_role_count + 1;
    END LOOP;
    wf_directory.createadhocrole
    ( role_name => l_role_name,
    role_display_name => l_role_display_name,
    notification_preference => 'MAILTEXT',
    role_users => l_role_users,
    expiration_date => NULL);
    wf_engine.setitemattrtext
    ( itemtype => 'XXCCVOTP',
    itemkey => itemkey,
    aname => 'CREDIT_COMMITTEE_MEMBERS',
    avalue => l_role_name);
    The second notification activity is throwing the below error
    Error Name = WFNTF_ROLE
    Error Message = 3205: '~WF_ADHOC-1446' is not a valid role or user name.
    Error Stack =
    Wf_Notification.SendGroup(~WF_ADHOC-1446, XXCCVOTP,
    MSG_REMINDER_CREDIT_COMM, 07-APR-10, WF_ENGINE.CB)
    Wf_Engine_Util.Notification_Send(XXCCVOTP, 154009, 186344,
    XXCCVOTP:MSG_REMINDER_CREDIT_COMM)
    Wf_Engine_Util.Notification(XXCCVOTP, 154009, 186344, RUN)
    Kindly help.
    Thanks,
    Amit

    The users list was null for the role, which was causing the error. The query populating the user list was not returning any row.

  • P7-1446s Hooking up a Audio-Technica AT-LP120- USB Turn Table Windows 8 64bit

    When I plug the USB cable from my Audio -Technica AT-LP120 USB turn table into my HP p7-1446s,  I loose sound from anything else such as iTunes. The computer recognizes the turn table, it shows up as a "3-USB Audio CODec Default Communication Device" microphone. When I put an album on the turn table, the VU meter shows the turn table/ USB Microphone is out putting but I get nothing to the speakers that show up as "3-USB Audio CODEC Default Communications Device".  I'm running Windows 8 64bit. Thanks in advance.

    I decided to use nouveau instead of nvidia and now I got my external an internal display working.

  • P7-1446s powers on but does not boot (no video output)

    Hi everyone, I've got a tricky issue with my p7-1446s.
    Specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03500676&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en#N90
    Was running 8.1 at time of death.
    The fans spin, the power light in the back is a solid green, and the disc drive opens and closes.
    The backlight of the front on/off button does not turn on when the PC is powered on (it's typically backlit green for active use or orange for sleep).  This button will power the PC on, but doesn't turn it off.
    I've tried multiple monitors (DVI and VGA), unplugging the hard drive and starting with a boot disc in the drive, and plugging in a video card, to no avail.
    I'm getting the impression from solutions to similar problems on other computers that this is a this is a CPU or motherboard issue - is this something reflowing could solve?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    I understand that the volume on your desktop computer constantly returns to 0% on a regular basis, and I would be happy to assist you in this endeavor!
    Since you have made no major changes to your computer, I recommend following this document on Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8). Once the original drivers are re-installed on your computer, I also suggest running the HP Support Assistant to update the software.

  • HP Pavilion P7 1446

    Hello Everyone
    I would like to upgrade my HP Pavilion P7 desktop intergrated AMD Radeon HD 766D, to a EVGA 02G-P4-3753-KR G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 750 Ti Superclocked 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Video Card
    Are there any changes to the Bios that need to be done?
    Is there step  by step instruction to disable the intergrated video and install the new card?
    P.S. the card should run like to champ,once I get over this hurdle
    Please advise
    thank you
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    It should be fine. Requires minimum 300w power supply, which you have. It needs two adjacent empty pci bays and I cannot find a picture of the back of your computer but I assume you are OK there, too. The motherboard will autosense the new video card and boot to it rather than the integrated video.
    Actually I found the Service Manual and you do have enough room to install that card. Instructions are on page 19-21

  • Problem with threads hanging

    We have a problem where our application stops responding after a few days of usage. Things will for fine for a day or two, and then pretty quickly threads will start getting hung up, usually in places where they are allocating memory
    We are running WebLogic 8.1 SP2 on Sun JDK 1.4.2_04 on Solaris 8 using the alternate threading model and the -server hotspot vm. We are running pretty much the same code that we had no problems with under WebLogic 6.1 SP4 and Sun JDK 1.3.1.
    A thread dump usually shows that some or all of our execute threads are in the state "waiting for monitor entry" even though they are not currently waiting on any java locks. Here is a sample thread from the thread dump (we have ~120 threads so I don't want to post the full dump).
    =============================================================================================

    String.java line 1446 for this jdk allocates a new String object, and all the other threads in this state also are creating new objects or arrays, etc.
    We've done a pstack on this process when it's in this state, and the threads that are in the "waiting for monitor entry" that look like they're allocating memory are all waiting on the same lwp_mutex_lock with some allocation method that's calling into the native TwoGenerationCollectorPolicy.mem_allocate_work (see pstack output below for the same thread as in the thread dump above)

    Also when it's having this problem, the "VM Thread" is always using a lot of processor time. We did a couple of pstacks today while it was having this problem, and this thread was stuck in the ONMethodSweeper.sweep for over 15 minutes when we finally killed the server.

    Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I'm trying to figure out if this is caused by something we're doing, or something relating to our environment and jvm options. Any ideas?

    Thanks for the reply - I'm testing our app with the +UseConcMarkSweepGC now in our test environment to make sure it doesn't cause any problems there.  Unfortunately the only place we've had this problem is on the production server, so it's extra difficult debugging this.
    We're using the following memory options:
    -ms512m -mx512m -XX:NewSize=128m -XX:PermSize=192m -XX:MaxNewSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=192m -XX:SurvivorRatio=8and the following debugging options, as we've also been seeing OutOfMemoryErrors ( see http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=37&thread=522354&tstart=45&trange=15 )
    -verbosegc -XX:+PrintGCDetails -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+PrintHeapAtGCBTW, which c++filt version and options are you using? Our Solaris boxes only seem to have the GNU version installed. I was trying to run that on some of the other stack traces and wasn't getting anywhere, and didn't know if because it was GNU version wouldn't work on something compiled with the Sun compiler.
    Thanks!

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks for the reply. I am using it as an inline popup. I am trying to create command links dynamically in an iterator. When a link is clicked a popup window opens. The text of the link is passed to the popup window by creating a variable in the session scope ( I even tried request scope) by an action listener in the backing bean.
    I tried to create another simple application with a static command button which passes its text to popup window through a session scope variable. It worked fine. I am not sure why the same procedure is not working in my original application. Can you give me a hint what could possibly go wrong according the exception stack trace ?
    Thanks,
    KK

  • Can't print from iBook G4 via Windows XP to an HP PSC 1410

    Hello,
    I realize this question is very similar to others on this discussion but I haven't been able to find an answer to my problem.
    I cannot print from my iBook via XP to an HP PSC 1410.
    I can print from my iBook via XP to an HP LaserJet 4L.
    I was able to print from my iBook via XP to an HP882C that was connected
    to the same USB port that the HP PSC 1410 is connected to now.
    I have an iBook G4 running 10.4.3
    I have a PC running XP with an HP LaserJet 4L on a parallel port and an HP PSC 1410 on a USB port.
    I installed the following from http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/
    hpijs-foomatic-2.02.ppc.dmg
    espgs-7.07.1.ppc.dmg
    HP-PSC_1400-hpijs.ppd
    I think I correctly followed the instructions at:
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3015.html
    They worked for the LaserJet printer.
    When I attempt to print from the iBook to the 1410 the HP doesn't print at all.
    I don't see any error messages on the iBook. The document gets spooled onto the Windows print spooler, the printer even starts making noises, the print heads move about a bit and then stop. The print job just sits there in the queue with a status of "Printing". The print job is then stuck and hard to delete.
    I don't need to be able to scan or check ink levels from the iBook.
    I would just like to be able to do color printing.
    What else should I try? Given the symptoms where might I be going wrong?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   1 Gig RAM

    I found the answer to this problem on Linux printing provided by Steve Stuart.

    Hi all,
    I finally figured out what the issue was, Why it fixes it I can not say,
    but it does.
    On the Shared printer on the Windows side, go to the properties of the Printer.
    Go to the Ports tab, and deselect the "Enable bidirectional Support" (do not
    have it checked). Once this is done and you also do not have any firewalls
    setup on the Windows machine (Windows, MCAfee, Norton, ....). You should be
    able to print.
    Finally!!!!! I hope this helps many many people. As I have had many
    people asking for the solution if I found it.
    Thanks,
    Steven Stuart

  • BI Consumer unable to open Sample Lite and Samples reports BI 11.1.1.3

    Hi all,
    I have Oracle BI 11.1.1.3 installed. I am trying to use Oracle Fusion Middleware security model. I have couple of users configured as BI Consumers in weblogic server. When I try to login as BI consumer and try to open some of the reports available in Sample Lite/ Sample reports catalog provided by BI 11.1.1.3 but the reports do not open. I get the following error in the weblogic server :

    Does anyone have an idea why this happening ?

    You need to have the HFM client installed and make sure you register the servers there. Once you can connect via the HFM client, you should be ok.

  • Problem with Displayport and M11x

    Okay so I have an M11x R3 laptop running Arch x86_64.  I have an issue I just got a Displayport to DVI and Displayport to VGA adapters.  I have tried HDMI but it doesn't show up with xrandr -q command.  I was wondering what I should do because it shows my VGA1 disconnected even when the DisplayPort adapter is connected to the monitor and to the laptop?
    xrandr -q output:
    Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1366 x 768, maximum 8192 x 8192
    LVDS1 connected 1366x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 256mm x 144mm

    800x600 60.3 56.2
    640x480 59.9
    VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
    Now I try to run this to get the display extended to a secondary monitor.  Nothing happens!
    xrandr --output VGA1 --auto --left-of LVDS1
    sudo lspci -v

    I can use optirun or primusrun I have both installed.  I have run both optirun and primusrun with the xrandr queries to see about detecting a secondary display with the Displayport or hdmi and nothing!  Any helps, tips, tricks, comments would be greatly appreciated because I am designing an Android application for my work and could use my secondary display working for more screen space.
    **EDIT #1**
    What I am currently running:
    nvidia bumblebee/primus-git driver from AUR 313.18-1 and I am going to update my git repos of lib32-primus-git and primus-git to see if that doesn't help...
    Also using 3.7.4-1-ARCH kernel.
    **EDIT #2**
    Okay so I have found out that the HDMI/VGA1 are both I guess hooked up to the GT 540M card which means that it won't show up without bumblebee/primus working.  So I have tried using the Bumblebee how-to guide on github how to setup an external secondary display and well it really didn't work well at all!
    First I did this:
    I removed from /etc/bumblebee/bumblebee.conf KeepUnusedXServer = false to = true.  I also have removed the UseEDID, and Option "AutoAddDevices" "false", from /etc/bumblebee/xorg.conf.nvidia.  Also have tried to setup an export path before running commands:
    export DISPLAY=:8 LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/nvidia-bumblebee:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    optirun -vv true

    Thanks, I finally find the same question here,posted a year ago.

    But there is still no solutions today.
    Thanks God! I found a way to solve that.
