P7N Diamond - Can't boot with 4GB Ram (no picture)

I wonder if there's any settings I need to modify in order to make my system to work with 4 gigs of ram (4x1GB) ?
Is there any known issues I should be aware of?
I really appreciate any help I can get!

Sorry about the lack of info, I tend to rush things when I get frustrated.
I bought two kits at the same time, as far as I know they are identical. I haven't played around with the BIOS apart from adjusting the voltage to 2.1 (which didn't improve the situation)
It does boot fine with two sticks, as well as three.
Any BIOS settings that comes to mind?
Let me know if you need more info!

Computer will boot and recognize 3 GB..( Apple 1 GB + 2 GB GEIL)
Both Geil Chips will boot, when paired with the Apple 1 GB chip.
    machine recognizes 3 GB ram.
    Please advise...

Ensure the computer's RAM is fully seated down, and then try resetting the PRAM by holding down options-command-P-R at boot. The computer will make the boot chimes and then reset and chime again. When it chimes the second time release the keys and let the thing boot normally. Hopefully that will let it recognize the RAM.

  • Windows 7 not booting with 4gb ram

    Hi!
    Situation:
I installed Windows 7 via Bootcamp. On 2gb ram (2x1gb or 1x2gb doesn't matter) windows boots fine.
I upgraded to 4gb ram (2x2gb) and now Windows is not booting. As far as I know, it's not even getting in DOS.
There's just the cursor blinking into infinity...
    What I've tried so far:
Installing windows with 2gb and ugrading to 4gb.
    Installing windows with 4gb
Tried the 32bit and the 64bit version
Found a 'solution' on the web making me boot in safe mode in order to change the maximum ram windows accepts.
Attributed more gb to the windows partition
I'm out of ideas, what do you think?
    regards,
    Massimo

  • P7N Diamond won't boot with new Intel Q9400

    Hi
I recently bought a new Intel Q9400 CPU to replace my old Q9450 that was broken and causing the computer to freeze. I tried to install the new Q9400 CPU and the computer would not boot. The red LED on the mobo was on. When I pressed the on button the fans span for about half a second but then stopped and the machine shut down. I have replaced it with a firend's E8400 and it boots fine again.
Before I installed the Q9400 I flashed the BIOS to v1.4 so I was confident that it would work but it didn't. After it didn't work I cleared the CMOS and it still didn't work.
Is there a compatibility issue with P7N Diamond and this CPU? My mobo is revision 1.0, does this make a difference? If not then I suppose the CPU must have been DOA and I'll need to RMA it.
    Thanks,
    Jim

Very unusual for a CPU to become "broken"--more likely the PC developed another problem? I'd test the 9450 on another system too if I were you.

  • Re: Satellite A200-1K7 - Doesn't boot with 4GB RAM

    Hello,
I am trying to upgrade to 4GB of RAM. According to the manual my Satellite A200 1k7 does support up to 4GB of ram.
However, if I place two 2GB modules the computer won't turn on. Either one of the 2GB modules on it's own works fine but the two of them together won't work.
The power light turns on, the harddisk whirs and then goes quiet. Nothing happens, not even a BIOS screen.
My BIOS is up to date. I am using windows Vista 32 bits.
    The memory modules I use are both SO-DIMM DDR2 PC2-5300 667 Mhz.
    Please help!

Im not sure but as far as I know the Satellite A200-1K7 has an Intel 943GML chipset that supports 2GB max.
So you should check which chipset you have. For this you can use PC Wizard 2008 (http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php).
If you have an other chipset I think the modules are not compatible and so you need other modules.

  • Re: Satellite Pro A200 - Won't boot with 4GB RAM

    Hi,
I've installed 2 x 2GB, but it seems it doesn't work. The funny thing is that when running just one memory strip (so 2GB) it works, when running both it doesn't work and it freezes. These are the Samsung 2GB 2Rx8 PC2 - 6400s - 666 - 12 - E3
Ive' installed the latest BIOS update (64bit v2.60) for the Satellite Pro A200 and I am running Windows 7 64bit

    Hi caribman
What Satellite Pro A200 you have exactly?
I ask this because some A200 models were equipped with Intel 943GML chipset and these models support 2GB only!!!

  • I got a MS-7253 k9vgm with 4gb ram and W7253VMS.180 BIOS but I only can see 3GB

    Hi,
I have a MS-7253 with 4gb ram recently installed on it but in bios memory check state it only shows 312something KB (3.2GB) and BIOS is the latest one.
According to MSI's site, this motherboard is supporting upto 4gb. I've turned off the on board vga as well and my vga card is an nvidia geforce 8400GM.
the funny part is windows 7 recognize the whole 4gb but it says I only can use 2.8gb of it.
whats wrong with my M/B? is there any other update which I'm not aware of?

    Thanks for your reply,
does that mean there is no chance for upgrading ram to 4g? or by BIOS update I can do that?
I have found another BIOS update newer than what I've got from this link:     https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=153338.0
just in case if I screw my BIOS can I revert it back to what it used to be?

  • More detail and a reply for the CQ50 - 130US will not boot with 8gb ram post

The specs, on the web site say that the  max memory supported is 3GB DDR2 because the notebook was built with the OS Vista(32 bit) installed so that’s why the manual has the 3 GB max. memory supported limit. The 32 bit OS can’t address memory over 3.12 GB.   To my mind that is not a spec. but rather a tech. writer who made a mistake and copied the sales literature.  With Windows 7(64 bit) Pro. installed the OS can address up to192GB of memory if the system supports it.  Other Compaq and HP Notebooks can deal with 8GB of memory installed. That’s why I would think HP’s could easily fix this with a patch or use one of their other BIOS’s.
The difference between 4GB and 6GB is that with 6GB system runs faster and the display quality has improved.  I have set the cache size to large and the executive paging is set to off in the registry. The menu(System Properties - Performance Options – Advanced – Virtual Memory) is set to automatically manage the paging file size.

You should keep it in the original; thread you started.

Any suggestions, or fixes, as to why I have to rebuild my library after EVERY shutdown? I am running the latest 10.6, 2.92 ghz iMac core 2 duo, with 4gb ram. Install went well, as far as I know. No other problems. I fear, that unless I fix this, when I upgrade to a new computer, I will be taking the same problem with me.

So if you start Aperture do some stuff in it, quit, then open Aperture again it starts up OK but if you then quit Aperture, reboot your machine and start Aperture it stalls?
You're internal drive is getting close to being overfull your at about what 18.5% free space (some we'll say it's already overfull). You might what to think about freeing up space. If you weren't having any troubles I'd say it was fine but as you are experiencing problems it is something to look at.
While its been doing the processing have you been able to open the activity window in Aperture? If you click on the spinnig gear (not the beachball)  when Aperture is busy you can usually get the activity window to open.
Other then that not sure what else to recommend at this point.

  • Is the apple laptop with 4gb ram and i5 better than other laptop with 6gb ram and i5

is the apple laptop with 4gb ram and i5 better than other laptop with 6gb ram and i5

Well it depends on the age.     http://www.everymac.com/ should help you identify the age of the two models.
Apple may use two processors called i5, but newer models have different optimizations than older models.
The processor is usually not the main affect on speed.  RAM helps, but barely unless everything is on an SSD already.   Hard drive speed is usually the limiting factor of speed on computers.   eSATA hard drives with higher RPM can often yield the fastest results because notebook hard drives tend to be slower that are not SSD, but for those you need either Express/34 or Thunderbolt based adapters.

  • Will my MacBookPro3,1 Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz with 4GB Ram run Mountain Lion?

Hi everyone. I have a MacBookPro3,1 Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz with 4GB Ram — will it run Mountain Lion? My hard drive has 615 Gigs of free space. If so, is it worth it for me to upgrade? Will all the new features be available to me. Presently I am running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53). I heard that there is an update 8.1 out there with developers as of yesterday.
    Thanks.

    Hi John.
Yes, an erase and install sounds like a good idea. I just need to check my Adobe CS5 software to see if I need to upgrade the suite. If that is the case, then I may need to put it off for a bit. Thanks so much for your help.
I have a newer MacBook Pro at work, but usually wait to upgrade it, till I've been running it at home on my personal computer for a while. Would hate for it to mess up my production schedule.
Thanks again and have a good evening.

  • Can't boot with install disk

I ran out of disk space on the Mac HD and I only have 452 MB left. Before, I had 12 GB. I think trying to connect a router swallowed up the GB.
Anyway, because I ran out of disk space, I had trouble starting the Mac HD.
I can open Bootcamp (XP Professional) and have no problem there.
I attached the dvd drive to the MacBook Air and put the Snow Leopard Install disc inside and tried
    1) Option start
    2) Pressing C key start
    3) Option command shift delete start but none of them work.
I cannot get it to boot with the Snow Leopard install disc.
    What can I do?
I was planning to do a clean install but can't boot with the Snow Leopard install disc.
Can I do it from Bootcamp?

I booted with the Snow Leopard Install disk and checked Disk Utility and found that the HD disk was corrupted. This time it showed only 77MB free space even though I freed up 2 GB using 'rm' commands in single-user mode.
The problem was some kind of virus or something that not only ate up free space but corrupted the system.
I had to do a clean install (erasing the Mac HD volume and formatting it) to get the Mac HD operational again.

Thanks, hatter! But I´m new in the Mac World and that´s greek for me. I have no idea about what is BCDedit, GPT, EFI, etc... I went to your bookmarks and found many discursions there. I selected 5 that the subject looks useful for me (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3543804, https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3477901,
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3360787, https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3354587 and https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3199099) but, as a tipical windows user, a really new mac user and a non-american (I don´t speak English well), it´s impossible to me to understand all this.
Do you know any "how to" in this forum or i any other part of the Internet where explain step-by-step what a dummy needs to do to recover the acess to the Windows partition (my primary objective) and create an third partition (FAT32) for data acessible for both OS?
    Thank you very much!

  • Can't even boot with 4gb, 975x Plat PowerUP, XP Pro 3d bit

Hey all, I've had a Core 2 Duo e6600 running on a 975x Platinum PowerUP edition since august now with 2 GB of memory. I recently added an additional 2GB.
I understand that I may never actually see all 4gb of memory in Windows as I only have Windows XP Pro 32 bit, but it my OS won't even boot with the other 2 sticks in there (4gb). I get a BSOD on the loading screen. The BIOS detects all 4gb correctly. I have tried the /PAE switch and /noexecute=optin swith and neither work. I've even tried disabling PAE and putting /noexecute=alwaysoff in there and I still can't boot (you'd think that I'd be able to at least get it to boot with 3.25 or whatever GB showing up, right?). I have the current official 7.40 BIOS. Does anyone have any advice for me?
Summary: 4GB recognized by bios, Win XP Pro 32 bit won't boot BOTH with or without /PAE and /noexecute=optin(or AlwaysOff).
    Conroe E6600 and 975x Plat PUP bios v 7.40
    THANKS!

Run memtest with all 4 dimms installed - Since it's valueram there's a chanse those sticks are not identical. They just use the cheapest chips they can find at the time to produce valueram, so even if you buy valueram from the same make and type, but at a diffirent time, they might still use diffirent chips ...
Non-identical RAM can cause errors in a dual channel enviroment (wich your core2 is)...
Core2 64 bit performance is where it should be. Just as fast as 32 bit for normal applications and loads faster for applications wich put the extra cpu registers to use...
