P7N Diamond first boot problems!

Hey guys
I have just installed my new MSI P7N Diamond mobo into my computer, but the thing won't boot !
All the stuff i had in my system worked fine with the old mobo, so it should also run fine here, but sadly it doesn't :/
Here's the specs:
E8500
MSI P7N Diamond
2x2 gb Mushkin Redline
320Gb seagate HDD
2x8800GT
I have tried to reset the CMOS and taking the batterie out, no succes..
Please help !
/Razbojnik
PS. Merry Christmas ^^

Well, I have sent my GFX to RMA, I think that was the problem.
I tried to use the second gfx as my primary card, but it wouldn't boot, so I thought it was broke..
The strange thing was that it worked fine with my old motherboard (Asus P5N32-E SLI)..
Still haven't got any info on my RMA status, but I believe I'll have it back again in a week or two..
While I'm writing here, I should point out, or acctually ask a question.. I had some system freezes and some BSOD (about 5 times in the last month).. I think the BSOD thing is cleared and that it was a Vista thing, but my system stille freezes sometimes when I watch movies, or play games on my com.. Still haven't found the cause  :/

  • P7N Diamond NB GTLref problems

Has anyone else had trouble setting the NB GTLref on the P7N Diamond?
Earlier I read through Yuri's rather useful post, which can be found here, and tried to set my GTLrefs according. On the upside, after setting my CPU GTLref I can just about boot windows at 3.6ghz, which I couldn't before, but I don't seem to be able to set my NB GTLref voltage correctly ><
If I have an fsb voltage of 1.272, then I'm pretty sure from what I read that I need a NB GTLref of 1.272*0.63=0.801v
However if I hit the minus button on my keypad, the voltage will go to something quite far below 0.801v, and if I hit the plus it will go to something quite far above. The range I need to be even close to the correct voltage doesn't seem to want to exist >< It just goes to auto whenever it gets near to it :/
Is anyone else having that problem? Or am I missing something entirely?

It just seems odd that it won't let me set the NB GTLref to what I want ^^ I've heard the P7N diamonds hit a bit of a wall about 425 though ><
    The rest my settings are;
    vcore: +0.1875v
    vdimm: 2.1v
    NB: 1.425v
    SB: 1.55v
    CPU GTLref: 0.862v
    NB GTLref: Auto
    FSB: 1.286v
I'm kind of unsure about raising the FSB too much more because I've heard 45nm chips have a tendency to fry when you do that >< I think I need to order a custom cooler for my northbridge too, having 8Gb of RAM probably isn't helping matters much. Other than that I don't really know how to get any further ^^ Any suggestions?
Oh and spread spectrum, c1e, execute bit support and all the options like that are disabled.
Cheers for the quick reply by the way ^^ :D

  • K9N2 Diamond & SLI Boot problem

Hello. I have a boot problem in my mb. My sli config is with 2 Gigabyte 8800 GT. I can enter windows and sli works fine. The problem is that i only have image in windows. I can't see post, so i can't access bios. Only when windows starts i get image. Tried the cards in a MSI K8N SLI Platinum and i had no problem. Image since i turn on computer. The cards in solo show image like in the MSI K8N. In bios i have the Hybrid SLI disabled, tried disable on-chip VGA but the pc won't boot. The customer service told me to update bios to version 2.3. I think that might be a bios beta version, i only know 2.1. There is a v2.2 to support the AM3 cpu's. Help !!

try to change the battery on your motherboard to see if it help. I believe that your battery of the motherboard is so weak so it won't able to show the POST.
The battery on the mainboard only powers the CMOS so it can store the BIOS settings. If the battery is failing, it will still start up, but BIOS settings will need to be re-set.

  • K8N Diamond Plus boot problems

I just built a new computer and it was working fine for about a month.  Then one morning when I started it up it wouldn't turn on.  The front LED's turn on, and the fans all start, but nothing ever shows up on the screen.  The set of four lights on the back show  R R
                                                                                                    G G
Nothing has changed since the pc was working fine.  I haven't changed any bios settings or added any hardware or software.  I did try resetting the bios using the CMOS jumper, but this didn't change anything.  The lights on the back show that it is initializing ide drivers, but in the manual it also shows that it is one of the last steps in the start-up process, so i would think that the memory check, processor count, msi logo ect. should appear on the screen like it normally does.  However, the LED that blinks when the hard drive is active never lights up, but when i open the case and feel the hard drive i can feel it vibrating like it is functioning properly.  And if it is a hardrive failure, then shouldn't the bios still start up and show up on the monitor?  I have heard that many weird problems can be attributed to the psu, but I have a 500w Antec Smartpower 2.0, which is a pretty reliable psu from what i've heard.  Any help or suggestions would be welcome.  Also, how would i test individual components to find out what is causing the problem?  I think since everything is within a couple of months old i should be able to get replacements.   Thanks in advance for any help.

You guys are awesome!  Thanks a bunch for the info on ram, I feel like I understand it better and I looked and found all the stuff in the bios that you guys were talking about.  I'm downloading speedfan currently and will go install it on my other computer.  I tried swapping the sticks of memory, but i ran into the same problem i did before.  So i'm assuming that i can safely say one stick is faulty right?  And do any of you guys have any experience trying to get replacement memory from crucial?  I'll have to go poke around their website also.  Well, thank you all so much for all of your help.  This is my first home built pc and i'm trying to learn alot about them.  Once everything is running properly i may try a little overclocking, but i'd like to get everything running smoothly first.  Just out of curiosity, what would make a stick of ram go bad like that?  It was only a month old, and i thought crucial xms was pretty good ram.  Is it not? or did i just get unlucky?
Thanks a ton for all the answers, this forum is the most helpful one i've ever seen.  thanks!
Maybe that you're unlucky to get those faulty RAM. Crucial RAM is not bad if you get the better performance if you're ocing your PC if or else get the value RAM if you don't oced.

Ok. Get it but not sure about MBM as it seems that it don't support it. :p

  • MSI KN8 Neo first boot problems

This is my first build.  I assembled everything (listed in my signature) and fired it up; this is what came up on the screen:
    Verifying DMI Pool Data ..............
    Boot From CD :
    Boot From CD :
    Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 (build 082)
For Realtek RTL8110s/8169s Gigabit Ethernet Controller beta v1.00 (030811)
PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, check cable
    PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM
Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and press enter
I have looked at all the posts in the forum with "PXE-E61" in them, and didn't find any answers.  I Google searched "PXE-E61", and didn't find any thing either.  This is what I've tried so far.  I checked all of the cable connections, they're good.  I swaped out the IDE cable with one I know works, no luck.  I tried both IDE ports and I tried booting from both DVD drives( may be one was bad), same result.  I tried different jumper settings for all the drives, no luck.  Current jumper settings: DVD-Rom Master/ DVD-RW Slave/ WD Raptor Master plugged into SATA 1/ Seagate HD open plugged into SATA 2.  No RAID
The bios shows all of the drives and I have tried different boot sequences with all of the drives, same thing.  Current boot sequence: Floppy, HD, CD ROM.  I went into the secret menu in the bios[shift+F10], and made sure it wasn't trying to boot from a network, it wasn't.  I unhooked one of the HDs and tried, I hooked it back up and unhooked the other one and tried, no luck.
Is this a bios problem, or a mobo problem?  I wanted to try everything I knew before posting on the forum.
    Thanks
    Extremely Frustrated

Tuirn off the Realtek NIC and set the boot order to a drive that you will actually boot from. One of the best ways to set up Windows is with just two drives attached to the system. The optical you are using for your CD and the HDD that you are going to install it on. Then after Windows is installed you can plug your other drives back in. This just simplyfies what Windows is seeing and makes sure you don't stick Windows where you don't actually want it. It also helps the system find the CD easier. Sometimes it will even help to turn other stuff off in Bios that you don't absolutely need to boot such as sound or other devices until after Windows is installed.

  • P7N Diamond QX9650 Resetting problems in games

With having similar issues to this post (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=116611.0), but being a new problem, new person, I felt it more prudent to start a new post to catch a wider populace hoping someone can help. Helps me keep track too!
    Hi all,
Unfortunately I have had the same problem since i got this board almost 2 months ago (and all other bits, as it's new PC), so looking for help before I rma or try refund route. Bits I have should be in the siggy if i set it up correctly otherwise will post below this.
From getting the board, I think I had the v1 bios (cant check now!). Aside from the reset buttons not wanting to work, the only way to get windows and simple things working was to manually set 2.1v on ram, put NB 2 settings up from auto, and put some manual timings in of 5-5-5-15 2t, with others on auto and have left the ram at 800hz.
Windows is fine (or at least not died yet) but try anything 3d and it may last 10 minutes, an hour, 2, then it just instantly resets without warning.
With having nothing to lose, I put 1.18 bios on. Reset switch & button now work.
Have had to set ram voltage and NB as before otherwise vista load or experience run = reset, but memory timings now seem happy on auto (still 800hz). Still resets itself with games though!
Not tried setting any timings manually as I don't think it will improve matters and Im at a loss what to try with numbers. Memtest86 suggests all ram is ok.
This is the only post I have found so far of similar issues, but alas the voltage doesn't really help me as I have been there since day 1. Anyone able to help fix, or at least help identify what (of the many bits, as they are all new) may be at fault?

Quick update, exactly same thing happens with my old 8800GTX. 20 minutes of NVW2 and reset city. So I'm fairly convinced that it isnt the GX2 being faulty, nor being a driver issue (seeing as I have gone through so many now!). Each driver has been fully removed and cleaned, though usually they would produce a bsod.
As the 88 ran fine with a pentium D 3ghz with 4gb of ram, on an old abit ni8-sli, I cant see it being lack of power - though I am assuming the numerous benchmark reviews and psu calculators are correct (1 suggest 588W is enough for 2 GX2 with my current set up). Obviously I cant rule out psu being working but faulty, but I would have thought first draw of a 3d scene would be biggest draw or spike, and with it being so random.....
Cant see it being GFX card incompatability with the mobo, as others have no problems.
I can only think its 1 or more of the following now, unless someone can correct me.
    1) Faulty mobo
    2) Faulty ram, even though memtest found nothing
    3) Needs completely manual memory timings (auto obviously not working for me, and I know for a fact having been there that some timings will load windows but run the experience benchmark and its instant reset, other timings = windows works but games = random reset). If it is timings and anyone has suggestions for mine, Im a noob so would need them all named or in order of the screen (used to be put things together on a pc and it works, never been near OC other than a multiplier change)
    4) Some other BIOS setting(s) need to be manually changed   (again, auto of things may not be generating happy settings, i.e. NB and RAM volts need to be manually set just to get OS to load)
    5) PSU, but I can't see how....
    6) CPU, again I cant see this faulty. Has survived 2 hour stress test no problem and win stuff works, just games that die (though peggle works fine, but thats hardly using much memory or stressing anything)
I'll check for more ideas tomorrow, otherwise Im on my last idea of pulling memory out and seeing what happens.
    Spotty,
Seeing as I can crash on pretty much anything, I dont think changing that setting would help but Im open for correction.
Also, I can't see his card being faulty. I know for a fact my 88 works perfectly and has since i got it over a year ago, but with this board ram cpu = not happy. Obviously testing on another machine would be ideal to prove one way or the other if he could do that.

We had a unit do the same thing that you are talking about here. I found after two days of test that it was the Heatsink. It had the grease but it was not seated just right. When I redid the Heat sink the issue went away. I had to clean them both and then surface the Heatsink with 600 grt paper.
When I put it back together it worked fine.
I can't say that this is it, what is wrong with yours but it does and is doing the same things that we had going on with us.
You might check this and see. Because it would not boot no matter what we did. And it will heat up and trip out in a second.
And this is after the machine had run playing games for a week or so. I thinkt he Heat sink warped from the heat. I have never seen one do this before but I guess it could happen. Any way it fixed ours.
Do You mean the CPU heatsink, or GPU heatsink? -
By the way, who wants to guess if I was blessed or not - and if buying a new $150+ PSU really helped
Please, any more help would be great

  • P7N Diamond not booting

My system has stopped booting or is only partly booting. It use to flash the lights on the keyboard, light up the green light by the power switch on the case and then the monitor would come out of standby and show the BIOS screen. While it was doing this the fans, pump, and drives would also start.  Now it's just the fans, pump, and drives that are powered on. All of the "on board" lights are also lit up. I've removed all USB and audio connectors, unpluged the floppy drive and card reader and it didn't help.
It's about a year old, but the last month it started not booting and I would power it off and back on and it would work. Now that doesn't work any more.

I'm convinced now, that it's the motherboard. I have it out on the table and have replaced the CPU, PSU, memory, and vid card with ones I know work. It did start once and I got it to go into BIOS set up,but I couldn't get the time set because the clock was in overdrive. Hours were clicking off as fast as minuets.  In the short time I messed with it, the date/time had advanced from noon on Mar.19Th to 6AM, Mar.20. I loaded the fail safe option, rebooted and it never came back on, just the same old fans and leds come on but no video. I also tried an old (16mb) PCI video card and that didn't work either. The leds by the PCI slots do light up showing that they are functioning.
So unless someone knows some abra cadabra words to fix it, I'll consider it dead.
Motherboards don't normally appear dead - boot - then die again.
    Since you said:

I think it has gotten worse, now the case switch and "on Board" button will only start it once in awhile.
It makes me think the PSU has gone faulty.

  • P7n diamond e-sata problem

If what Paul suggests doesn't work, check your eSATA cable.
I just bought an eSATA hard drive case and dvd drive case as well as eSATA cards for all my computers and the hard drive never worked except with the SATA to eSATA bracket for the PCI slot that came with the drive.  I finally put the hard drive in the dvd case and it worked great on all machines.  I got to looking and the eSATA cable that came with the DVD case had a longer connector end.  I went to newegg and looked at eSATA cable reviews and a lot of people have this issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • P7N does NOT BOOT solution

For a day now my computer would not boot.  The fans would go one and everything would get power. I tested every component in my computer for a while now and I have finally figured out what was wrong with my computer. I knew it had to be the motherboard or cpu cause i had tested everything else with other components.  Anyway, I googled this issue and somebody said to use the VGA to DIV adapter to fix this...I know what you are thinking, "That WILL NOT WORK!!" Well it did. so now whenever i turn on my computer I have to plug in my VGA to boot then I just switch to my DVI after and it works fine.

I had the same problem with my P7N Diamond not booting all the time. I would have to reset 5 or 6 times before it would boot. When I pulled the 2 MSI 8800 GTX video cards and switch slots, the problem went away. When I switched them back, I got the boot failure problem back. I don't know what would cause it, but it was a cheap fix.

  • P7N Diamond - Problems with different things

    Hi, n0id here.
I have recently bought a computer in parts (from different web shops).
Yesterday I finally got the processor and was able to build the computer, so I started building the computer.
After about an hour of mounting the parts, I decided it was finished, so I powered it on and watched it boot.
The first thing I noticed was that if my USB Keyboard was plugged in, POST would freeze at "Initializing USB Devices".
I figured it was only temporarily, so I switched to a PS/2 Keyboard, which helped.
The next thing that happened was the BIOS was not able to find my Hard Drive (SATA). I was wondering if because the motherboard support SATAII if SATA drives wheren't compatible. I opened the case and saw that the SATA cable wasn't plugged in properly. So after putting it back in properly, I booted the computer again.
So, now that POST was running OK and BIOS found all my components, I decided to install Windows XP.
After about a minute of reading the cd (windows initializes the installation program in DOS) it stopped reading, and the computer freezed. Finally, It got to the point where I can partition the HDD. But the computer would always reboot at this point. I haven't figured out why yet.
So I connected the HD to my old computer and installed windows here. That worked.
I reconnected the HD to the new computer and after windows loaded, I got a blue screen and the computer would reboot again.
So I decided to remove some of the components. I removed one RAM module, the soundcard (Creative XFI Gamer) and unplugged the 120mm back fan. At this point I was able to format the drive and install windows without a problem.
So I decided to insert the components again, but when I then started the computer, I didn't get a picture on the monitor. I tried with a different monitor and with a different graphics card, neither of which made a difference.
At that point I went to bed because I had already spent seven hours trying to figure things out and it had gotten very late.
So now I am here asking for any guidance.
    My computer specs are:
    MSI P7N Diamond motherboard,
    2x 1Gb Kingston 1066 Memory modules running at 1.8v,
    Geforce 7900GS,
    Creative X-Fi Gamer soundcard,
    Intel Q6600 G0 @ 2.4Ghz,
    Thanks for any help.

    Hello again.
I am trying to overclock my Q6600.
Everytime the FSB is over 267mhz (2.4ghz CPU Clock) I get a BSOD: "IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".
Then it's dumping the memory and restarting.
When Windows starts up again, the FSB is back at 267mhz.
I am using the application MSI Dual Core Center, that followed with my motherboard.
I noticed in this application that memory voltage was set to 1.9v. The memory modules I bought are 1.8v because when I bought the MSI P7N Diamond, it said it only supported 1.8v memory. aww :S
    Anyway, my full specs are:
    Intel Q6600 (G0 stepping) - 2.4ghz
    MSI P7N Diamon (7510) Mainboard
    1x 1GB Kingston (KVR1066D2N7K2/2G) memory modules, 1.8v, 1066Mhz,
    Antec NeoPower 650 (650W, 3x 12v @ 16A)
    GeForce 7900GS
    Creative X-Fi Gamer
    Win XP Pro, SP2.
I am going to browse around the forums for similiar problems, though I thought I'd post this now.
After browsing the forums I've learned a few things.
My Q6600 has a VID of 1.3250 and the box it came with said that 1.35v is the max. So I have changed the voltage to +0.0250 and was able to clock the CPU to 2.67Ghz without a problem (temps are 33 - 36 celcius on idle.)
My question this time is: even though the box says 1.35v max will I safely be able to set the voltage higher than that?
I would assume that Intel is setting a maximum that is lower than the actual max, just to keep the processor safe. But I do not know stuff like that :P
My target is 3ghz, and if reaching that clock means I need to apply a greater voltage than 1.35v, and it isn't safe; that would totally suck.
    edit,
To achieve 3ghz I supplied these settings in the BIOS:
    FSB: 1333 Mhz
    DRAm: 800 Mhz
    EIST:  Disabled
    Multiplier: x9
    Nb voltage: 1.35
    FSB Term.: 20
    CPU GTL Fef: 5
The cores are currently at 36-38 at idle, compared to 28-32 on stock clock.
I will see if I can buy some extra fans to put in the front to blow cool air into the case, and maybe buy a new cpu cooler.
Btw, the vCore is 1.3v (and it's also set to auto in bios).

  • P7N Diamond, Bios P07, QX9650, 8GB PC-8500 problem

Read through main fo the topics in this forum, and tried to identify similar problems, but seem not to be successful.
P7N Diamond board, with the nwest beta P07 bios.
    QX9650 quad chip,
and patriot PC2-8500 2GB memory sticks.
    2x EVGA 88800GTS-512 (G92) video cards.
So first I flashed the new bios, with only 2 memory sticks in 0, 2 slot, I get  post with just fail safe settings, and SLI ready memory enable, which the vendor claims these stikcs can do.
I boot, but the CPU bounces around between 6x and 8x.
If I add 2 more memory sticks to come to 8GB total, I crash during boot in Vista 64.
So remove 2 sticks again, and try to play with bios settings to get anything stable, but... nothing.
    Any ideas, help.
    Thanks much.

It's normal for your speeds to fluctuate.  It is speedstep(EIST) in action.  It lowers your cpu speed to save power when it isn't doing anything or a light load.  You can disable it in your BIOS if you want and it should run full speed at all times.
Can you boot into Vista with 1 video card and be stable?
What power supply are you using?  It sounds like you are lacking enough power to run both those cards.  Make and Model number for PSU.
You may also need to manually setup your memory timings.  DDR2 memory has a top limit and it is PC2-6400.  Anything over that limit is overclocking and may need adjusting to get them to run.
Make sure you only have keyboard, mouse, and monitor plugged for testing to help eliminate other issues.
Can you make a signature with all your computer components listed similar to the one I have below.  it will help us help you.  It's sometimes hard to help when you don't have enough information.

  • P7N Diamond 1066mhz Reaper boot issue

I have had this machine for a year, originally I had 4 sticks of 800mhz OCZ ram in it, but somehow 2 of the sticks developed errors (1 stick from each batch of 2) and they were returned, I ended up replacing them with 2x2gb OCZ reaper HPC sticks which i have been running at 800mhz (i know thats their ACTUAL speed).
Problem is, they are rated to 1066mhz and its always been niggling at me to run them as they should.
I currently have them set at 1066mhz, 2.1V, 5-5-5-15 and they seem pretty stable, the problem is that the machine wont boot from cold like this, i can sit here all day and use it, but if i shut it down then hit the power button the lights come on for a split second and then nothing. The only way to get it to boot is to reach round and turn the PSU off for 5 seconds then turn it on and it will boot first time. This as you can guess is a real pain in the ass.
If i drop them down to 800mhz it boots fine with no issues, but I would really like to figure out why it refuses to boot like this.
Currently most settings in the cell menu are on auto, i stuck the NB up to 1.4V to see if that would help but it did nothing and the issue remains, any help would be appreciated or I may have to drop the speed down again just to save my back.
Edit: forgot to say im running beta bios 1.2B1

Ok..  I have the exact same ram, and I'll tell you what I did..  First off, the P7N Diamond (and I'm assuming the Platinum as well) doesn't give you an option to change tRFC in the cell menu.  These sticks need the tRFC to be set to 54.  Depending on when you bought your RAM (I bought mine May 08), the sticks may or may not have this change implemented as to whether they FORCE tRFC to 54 clocks.  If yours are a bit older, chances are that they do not have this fix implemented.  I have been assured by OCZ that all NEW 1066 Reaper RAM now has the SPD adjusted to force tRFC to 54 clocks.
If you think you have an older set of RAM, check out this link - http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36341
Instructions are posted there on how to flash the SPD of your Ram to force tRFC to 54 clocks.
Originally, I couldn't understand why I couldn't get my RAM up to its rated speed.  I knew that I would technically be overclocking to get up to 1066 from 800mhz, but every time I changed the speed in the Cell menu I would either get a hard lock or BSOD.  Once I flashed the SPD, everything now works tickety-boo - no problems whatsoever.  Give it a shot..
Also, just a quick note - you probably won't need to give your ram as much juice after you've flashed the SPD..  I know that they're rated up to 2.1 or 2.2v, but chances are at 1066 with 5-5-5-15, you can get away with 1.9-2.0v
Dude Can u tell me the exact settings u have done in BIOS . And I dont think that my system is really stable with these settings . And what does SPD means ? I am really noob in Overclocking .

    Vista 32 bit
Just got a machine from a company in California. Had some initial problems and returned it on RMA. Got a new MB, RAM and one new graphics Card.
Now that I have it back I am having trouble fully booting. Every once in a while, I am able to get through the boot sequence and start running games only to have the machine freeze then blue screen. After that cycle I am back to the beginning, not being able to boot into vista.
As far as the beep codes, I get two separate short beeps, then two rapid beeps (back to back) then a fourth beep.
RAM is seated in slots 1 and 3
The 2 graphics cards are seated as follows:
One card is in the first blue PCIE slot
2nd card is in the (only) white PCIE slot (presumably so that I can seat the included X-FI Xtreme sound card into the only PCI slot)
    Recommendations?

As far as the sound card goes, I assumed it was PCI due to the length of the tab that goes into the mobo. It is the same one that everyone else received with the board, though (X-FI Xtreme). Can I really insert this into a PCI-E slot when the tab on the sound card is MUCH shorter? I never would have considered that...
Whoa! No, of course not. Sorry, better forget what I said in that case. The difference between a PCI and PCIe 1x connector should be really, really obvious, so you'll have done it right. I was just confused, as I did get the PCIe version with that board (there are both a PCI and a PCIe version of the card, though).

I will have to get into BIOS and verify the voltge to my RAM. I am not a modder and have never OCed anything therefore I don't typically screw around with BIOS settings too much.
If you haven't changed the defaults, the RAM should run at 800 MHz, in which case it doesn't really need the higher voltage, so that's okay then.
Oh, and I've never noticed the USB-beep relation, but then I don't have a lot of USB devices. :p
Anyway, keep us posted, and good luck

  • Stability Problems with P7N Diamond Continues

Big bummer. I've had this system since April, took a month to get it working as the first board I ordered was bad, this one seems to be a bum board. I've came here and a few other places, but help has been kind of hard to find.
    Here's what I got:
    MSI P7N Diamond
    Intel QX9650
    2x 2GB mushkin DDR2 1066 (XP2-8500) Timings: 5-5-5-15 2T
    I have 4 HD's: all are seagate baracudas: 250, 500, 750, 1TB
    MSI NX8600GT1GEZ
At this point overclocking is out of the question. All I want is a reliable PC that runs to its specifcations. RMA-ing this board is a last resort as often enough the RMA boards aren't worth a crap anyway, dont know if this is just the case with lower-end boards, but I hate having to wait, and I'm really ticked about the whole thing.
The computer reboots at random, I've found "more stable" configurations, but usually the machine will not stay running for more than 24 hours without a reboot. The most stable configurations are with the official 1.2 BIOS, setting the NB to 1.250 v, CPU Volt: Auto, SB: Auto, DRAM: 2.10, and I have manually set the memory timings: CL: 5, trcd: 5, trp: 5, tras: 15, and Command Rate: 2T. The FSB Speed: 1333, and the DRAM Speed: 1066. Temps are normal, and range from about 100 F at idle, and 120 F load on the CPU.
The voltage on the CPU is on the high side on Auto, the QX9650 can run on as little as .98 v at stock and this board is giving it 1.23 v on auto. The board also tries to set the timings on the memory to 7-7-7-24, which I feel has something to do with it.
I'm not an overclocker, I don't know what all these voltages do, I've only changed settings that have either been reccomended or have a warning setting (ie turn red).
I'll try a beta BIOS if one is available, but I was unaware that this board doesn't fully support the 45-nm CPU's.
There is NOTHING wrong with any of the hardware (except the board perhaps), I've tried other memory, PSU, even RMA the CPU, does the same thing. Everything has been tested, every possibility I can imagine, this problem has been haunting this system for months, and I'm almost to the point of buying a cheap as board that has some credibility that my hardware will work.
This is my most critical computer, I do everything on it, but I didn't buy a $300 motherboard to have these problems, or find that my CPU scores half of what it should when it is running stock, everything on this board is below stock, benchmarks are way below what they should be.
I'm up for some ideas, suggestions, if needed, I'll RMA the board, but it the return board does the same thing, I've lost all my faith in MSI. My last system had a P4M900M2 and it kicked butt, and it's a $50 board!  Go figure these boards are worse than imported cars.

By means of instability, can you describe the symptons of events that happen?
Can I have a list of the PSU models and RAMs models which you have tested?
Have you try the hardware on another board? If you have done so, what are the results?
I have not tried any of my hardware on this board, I have tried other memory on this board, this is the only board I have avialable to me that support LGA775 so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place on that. The memory I tired, couldn't tell you the exact model, but it was Apacer DDR2 800, and was listed under this board as tested memory, i do remember that much- if that helps any.
As far as overclocking, I was told that overclocking my rig would make it stable, which i feel in this case is a little more than bumping the FSB eitherway. But no this happens under "stock" settings. Orginally with the 1.0 BIOS the machine would sometimes give me a multitude of BSOD, CLOCK_INTERRUPT (A clock inttrupt was not recieved in a timely manner on a secondary processor), DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
Only way to get the machine to run "stable" is to severely underclock, with the FSB at 1137 and DRAM at 1034.
Other things. Benchmarks (SiSoft Sandra Lite 2007)
CPU: Drystone: 39000 MIPS / Whetstone: 28000 MFLOPS
    Memory: 7 GB/sec (1066 with correct timings)
Both appear to be under par, CPU particularly, and in the event of tinkering, only see a jump in performance when adjusting the multiplier from 9 to 10.5, which isn't stable, stable enough to run a benchmark. So I'm not sure where the problem is.
This might help, the original thread from back in June.
