P7N SLi Front Audio Problems
I'm running Windows 7 x64.
Installed the latest Realtek driver for ALC888 and strange things now happen to the front audio ports. The autodetect ports doesn't work. Even if there is nothing plugged in, Realtek says there is. I cannot seem to mute the speakers when I plug headphones into the front ports even though I set this in the configuration. Also, the microphone does not work unless you shout at it in the front port. It works OK in the rear.
I tried uninstalling the driver and installing the original one from the disk that came with the motherboard but it made no difference.
According to Realtek, the drivers should all work in Windows 7. I don't believe them.
Any suggestions gratefully accepted. If it comes to the crunch I guess I'll have to buy a sound card but I hope there is a solution. I'm fairly sure it's a driver problem.
No sure how well the driver supports goes for Win7 currently. Do check the pins connection as well.

hi every user , plz help me. I bought P7n SLI Platinum 5 month ago with C2D E8400 (E0). so i upgrade to bios v1.3 and i can use me cpu. everything fine but when i run cpuz v1.45 it show chipset number is "650i" not "750i". anybody know how to correct it. but everything is fine no problem occur. i just want to change to 750i. plz help
It's more than likely that version of CPUz is too old(the sb750 chipset isn't identified until 1.47). Download the latest version, 1.51. Run that and see what is stated.

N460GTX Hawk in 2way SLI HD audio problems
Hello everyone and thanks for letting me join. Please bear with me on this post its a little confusing.
Here is my setup,
I have and alienware aurora pc with the Realtek High Def audio onboard the MB. Check.
I have installed 2 MSI GTX 460 Hawks with SLI bridge and nvidia drivers 260.99 Check.
I allowed installation of the nvidia HD audio driver, 1.0.15.0, Check.
Here is my issue,
after installing and setting up sli options
When the HDMI cable is plugged into the top card(which by the way is called GTX460 number 2 in the NCP), I get the post screen and sound works the first time on boot up, after a restart or cold boot however, I have to reinstall the nvidia HD audio driver because the system resorts back to onboard audio even though no speakers are plugged in. You see i have the HDTV output going to a receiver so that the sound goes through the TV first.
Now it seems that the nvidia hd audio problem is fixed by attaching the HDMI cable to the bottom card, another words I can reboot without having to reinstall driver....however there is no post screen.....just a no signal message on HDTV until windows comes on.
Now the bottom card was purchased first and put in the second slot first so that installation of the top card would be easier once purchased. I had post screen on the bottom card when it was alone. Now with the new card on top slot I dont and the bottom card is still known as GTX460 number 1 by the Nvidia control panel.
Please tell me I dont have to uninstall the cards and boot with the top card alone first and then install the bottom card second.thanks for the tips people, as far as the spdif cable nvidia claims its not required, they say the audio is passed through the PCIx16 slot and btw msi didn't ship one with either card.
So, I uninstalled both cards and then this time, installed only one at a time this time starting with the top card first and when i booted i got sound on the top card and it recognized the nvidia audio driver. I rebooted to make sure i still had audio and i still did.
I then installed the bottom card and attached the bridge and rebooted and then windows auto installed the driver. I got no sound this time out of the top card, the system went back to the onboard audio device. So now im stuck with booting without a post screen, so i can have audio. Thankfully games seem to still function normally when the hdmi cable is connected to the bottom card. Im gonna check Dell for a Bios update for this machine, keep thinking guys and gals. -

I purchased a K7N2 Delta NVIDIA nForce 2 FSB 400 Motherboard, and installed it today. I have everything working except for the front audio port. The power supply that I have (ATX) has eight cords for the front audio:
1 R In
2 R Out
3 L In
4 L Out
5 Mic-In
6 Mic-In
7 Gnd
8 Gnd
However, in the manual describing the JAUD1 Front Audio Connector it lists ten (two of which have no pins):
1 AUD_MIC
2 AUD_GND
3 AUD_MIC_BIAS
4 AUD_VCC
5 AUD_FPOUT_R
6 AUD_RET_R
7 HP_ON (No Pin)
8 KEY (No Pin)
9 AUD_FPOUT_L
10 AUD_RET_L
So I have two questions:
1. To which port of the JAUD1 panel of the motherboard am I supposed to connect the above eight plugs? I tried different combos with no success.
2. After I figure out which plugs to go into where, do I need to dl the Realtex AC97 drivers, or do I only need to do that if I still have problems.
You guys rock. Thank you very much for your help. I look forward to hearing back from you.Try this (Case connection -> Mobo connection)
1 R In -> 5 Aud_FPOut_R
2 R Out -> 6 Aud_Ret_R
3 L In -> 9 Aud_FPOut_L
4 L Out -> 10 Aud_Ret_L
5 Mic In -> 1 Aud_Mic
6 Mic In -> 1 Aud Mic - Try this instead of 5 if mic doesn't work
7 Gnd -> 2 Aud_Gnd
8 -> 2 Aud_Gnd - Try instead of 7 (or might need to splice them together)
You might need to swap 1&2, and 3&4, depending on what they class as "In" or "Out"
There should currently be a jumper on JAUD1 between pins 5&6 and 9&10
You should get audio out on the rear green socket if there is nothing plugged into the FP socket. (My case doesn't have the switched audio returns from the FP, so I wired it so that the jumpered pins were still connected to each other, as well as to the FP connector.)
Drivers would probably be a good idea.

K8N SLI Platinum audio problem
I have some problems with on-board audio, I can't find any solution on this Forum:
1. I hear loud noise from my speakers MT 323 5.1 after booting in Windows, same speakers connected to my second PC (Abit NF7S +Soundstorm) are noiseless. If I use headphones connected to MB AUD1 from case front panel, there is no such noise. So this is not speakers fault.
2. Channel separation is almost OK, but I hear right rear channel in central speaker during test from Speaker Settings panel.
Overall quality of sound is very good, only above problems
This situation not depends on SB Live! 24 bit drivers - 5.12.1.353 and ...356 - same problem. Of course my PSU has -5V rail.
Maybe somebody had such kind of problem?
Thanks Richard for your reply,
I had done what you had suggested, with software volume level controls set from 100% to 0% there is no difference in noise level, with speakers controls I'm reducing noise level but it is still in background. If I am in SuSE Linux mode I don't hear noise with 100% volume level (both software and hardware controls).

MSI p7n sli platinum artefact problem...
Hello
I have the 1.2 offcial version of te MSI p7n platinum. I have no video corruption but i have another problem . I don't know if it is a bios probleme or not .
I have a MSI 9800GTX+ with 4G CORSAIR DDR2 (800Mhz) and a intel E8400. When i launch 3dmark06 it crash . Windows tells me that the nv4_disp has ecountered and error and i have to restart my computer. I precise that my GPU , memory are stable and i have installed the latest drivers of my 9800GTX+. I installed the 15.23 nforce drivers too .
Another strange problem is when i want to play crysis i have vertical artefact. It doesn't appear in video like other but but in Crysis lol . My others game runs well , this is only crysis and 3dmark06 who shows this vertical artefact.
Another strange problem is when i install a game. If i launch just after the game i have many artefact . I restart the computer and no artefact for the game. An idea why Huh?
What do you think it's a BIOS problem or what beacause since june08 i can' resolve this problem. This problem made me crasy beaause it's very strange and i can't find a solution. It can be an incompatibility or the BIOS Huh
Please help me. ( For my PSU it's a cooler master 1000W)I have a 4G Corsair (800Mhz) . I have done a Memtest . 4 hours with 5 pass without errors . I know that 10 pass is the best but i think that my memory is not the problem. I am running windows XP SP3 . I have tried the first time when i installed my motherbord the driver included in the CD . i thing that is the same of your link ??? I was having the same probleme.
I have launch orthos for 4 hour without probleme . I have 2 HDD SATA. The first HDD have windows SP3 and some games and the second HDD have other games too .
I have try something yesterday . I have change the sata placement of my HDD . I made the First disk in sata 2 and the second in sata 4. I launch a 3dmar06 and it works well . Bt it was jut a time because when i relaunch 3dmar06 it crash . There is a specific thing to do if we have 2 hDD or do i have to place it in SATA 1 and 2 ??? It can be my driver SATA wich are bad or my HDD are bad too .
When i was having this strange problems i have tried and old card , the 7800GTX . 3dmar06 run without any bug . i was thinking that it was my GPU but not because it work in another computer. My memory frequency is enough for my computer ?? The clock of my MSI 9800GTX+ is 760Mhz .
Do i have to reinstall Windows XP ??

Front Panel Audio - P7N Sli Platinum Question
I am having trouble getting the front panel audio working - I want it set up so that when I plug my headphones in the speakers mute and the headphones take over.
I have the following:
Case - ThermalTake Armor VA8003BWS - http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Chassis/fulltower/armor/va8003bws.asp
MB - P7N SLi Platinum
Sound Card - Create Labs Xfi Gamer
I have done the following:
1. Disabled onboard audio in Bios (should I turn this back on?)
2. Went into Creative Console Launcher and checked the 2 options that I want it to automatically enable headphone settings and mute speakers when headphone jack is connected.
3. Connected 10 pin wire in case labeled (Azalia) to the motherboards Jaud1 (my MB manual says it is Azalia 1.0 compliant). The case also has an AC'97 connection (on the same wire as Azalia but I didn't use this because of what I read in MB manual about Azalia 1.0 compliant).
4. The case also came with this 10 pin black block that has all the Azalia descriptions on the side (Port 1 L, Port1 R, Port2 R, Sense_Send, etc. - I tried plugging the Azalia connector into this and then this into the Jaud1 but still nothing).
Not sure if it matters but my headphones are Plantronics Gaming Audio 770 (not USB).
Any suggestions?Quote from: [LT]Eternalbliss on 21-June-08, 03:43:49
I've just recently had this similar problem. I think the issue in your case is step 3. I believe you should connect the Azalia 10pin wire to your X-fi card, not the mobo.
My problem was that i had connected AC97 10pin wire to my X-fi, after which plugging in my headphones didn't mute my speakers.
That was the problem - works great now! Thanks -
New P7N SLI Platinum Boot Issue with PS/2 Keyboard [Solved but RAID problem now]
This issue taken me back !!!! Never thought I might face issue with a PS/2 Keyboard.
Here it is.. I just assembled my new system...
P7N SLI Platinum Motherboard
E8400 CPU
EVGA 256-P2-N751-TR GeForce 8600 GT Video Card
Creative Soundblaster Audio Card
So, before I boot, I connected good old PS/2 Keyboard. The POST Screen comes up that says Press DEL to enter BIOS Setup... but then, it reboots.. indefinitely... I have no idea why it does that. However, if I boot the PC with no PS/2 Keyboard connected, POST screen comes up and that's it.. (no reboot). So, you see, I cannot proceed further in anyway.... I cannot go beyond POST without a keyboard, but then with the keyboard it reboots indefinitely... kinda catch 22 situation
Any suggestion / ideas that anyone can offer here???Hello Folks... it took long time to "solve the issue that had to begin with"....
I purchased a cheapo Celeron processor to get into the BIOS and update it... but it didn't even work... I couldn't boot at all. So, I called MSI and they asked me to RMA it. They replaced my MOBO with the latest BIOS - which was good news
So, now, I'm able to boot - good news...
Now, this is an upgrade for me.... from my previous MOBO. My boot drive was RAIDed (RAID 0). So, now, I will have to RAID my drives again and run Win XP repair. I was able to RAID my drives and all good... now, I went into Windows installation and did F6 to install NVIDIA Raid.... but, here is my problem, when the prompt asks me to input the floppy drive, and when I did it.... it re-prompts me to put the floppy drive again... I see that the floppy drive is read... but, for some reason it doesn't detect the files in there properly.... I downloaded nVidia C72+MCP55 SATA RAID / AHCI Driver (For floppy driver) for windows xp 32-bit and copied the sataraid folder contents into the floppy. Now, here I am stuck again....

HELP!!!!! P7n sli platinum cd-in problem.
Dear msi members.
I've got a p7n sli platinum board in, but now the cd-in (audio-in) (you know that 4 pinned thing you can connect a dvd drive too) connector on the board is in the way of my gtx 260, "they collide" now my question is, i'm pretty good at soldering, is it safe to unsolder the port completely?
as this way i'd have room for my gfx card.
If it's not. be sure to let me know how i can get this thing out of the way please.
Thanks in advance, Scorp.
P.s. Thats seriously my only issue, if i remove that thing everything will fit, (and i could mostlikely unsolder it carefully and resolder it should i need to rma). it's just the question that if i remove it completely does the board still run properly?hello i have the same problem, i recently bought gtx260 to find out the JCD is on the way . I'm using my 2nd Pci-E slot at the moment. i was reading the forums and find out that this has been affecting many users with similar components, and they say they can remove the plastic as posted on this link http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?p=31163282 i

Problem with my p7n sli platinum
Hello,
i just bought the P7N SLI Platinum for my new system and use an old ATI X1800XT as my gpu.
after finished installing all the hardware, then i tried to install a fesh copy of windows xp...
the problem is, every time my computer tried to login into the windows.. a blue screen will appear..
i suspect the problem is due to the x1800xt..therefore i tried to use it with my old intel motherboard but it can login into windows perfectly well..
does anyone know what the cause of this problem? is it because i'm using ati card with nvidia chipset?
please everyone help me!!Quote from: BOSSKILLER on 23-November-08, 21:04:26
STOP: 0x0000001E
* There is insufficient disk space on the drive on which you installed Windows.
* There is an outdated or incompatible third-party driver (or drivers) installed on your computer -- for example a faulty video driver.
* There are system BIOS incompatibilities.
Finally, my system is now working perfectly but I'm still not sure what is the cause for all of this madness.
I didn't change any of the hardware or the drivers.
I don't think this is because of the insufficient disk space because after many series of failure with this board, I have tried to install a fresh windows copy using the same hard drive with my previous motherboard and everything seems to be running smoothly...it could finish the installation process..and safely loading into windows...
Then when I tried with this board again, still no improvement at all...i tried again..again...and again...until i was frustrated enough to made some random changes in the bios settings and FINALLY...it works!!..
I have no idea what were the changes that I've made in the bios...maybe it was just my luck....but I do notice the change in my cpu vcore..before this, it was running at 3.0GHz with default vcore of 1.080v...but now, the default vcore has suddenly changed to 1.250v with the same frequency of 3.0Ghz...and I couldn't find any way to return the voltage back as before..is this normal? I thought E8400 with E0 stepping should have lower vcore...isn't it? -
MSI P7N SLI-FI LGA 775 nForce 750i startup booting problems
Hi there!
My PC is about 1.5 years old.
Now last 3 weeks I'm having some frustrating problem when starting my PC.
Issue: my computer starts now only when there is 2 Gb total memory on motherboard.
If there´s 3 Gb or 4 Gb memory on motherboard, then I won´t even get a Bios startup screen.
(but i can see and heard that PSU and CPU fans are working)
I tried all memory modules on, separately using only one memory module. All memory modules and every slot seems to be ok.
I also try Memtest86 (with one memory module Separately) no errors found.
Motherboard PCI-E slots and graphics card are also ok.
(because my PC works like a charm when there´s only total 2 Gb memory on motherboard)
Why my PC only starts when there´s 2 Gb memory on motherboard?
Any help will be appreciated deeply!

Your PSU only has 18A on the +12V rail. This could very well be your issue. Below are some good single +12V rail PSUs, Corsairs and PC Power & Cooling. You can also look for Silverstone single rail PSUs, but they tend to be pricier. If you can't get anything other than split-rail, post back and we'll try to make some recommendations.

MSI K9A2-CF front panel audio problem
Just rebuilt a computer using the board. Please note, I have not updated the BIOS at all and I am using XP Pro. Anywho, I've tried everything under the sun, so far, aside from previously stated, to get this sucker to work. I have it connected properly, I've installed every audio driver on the motherboard CD. I can't find a setting in the BIOS to turn on front panel audio either. Everything else works fine though. USB's, HD audio connections in the back, etc. The program in windows will detect all inputs except for the front audio in and out.
I'm a bit stumped. Any suggestions?Quote from: Bas on 17-August-09, 22:22:14
You have to check the wires on the plug, looks like they are wrong or the case-module is broken somewhere.
You have to start checking and measuring with an Ohm-meter.
Remember, neither case front worked. I'm not saying it couldn't be the case, but I'll try to get my hands on an Ohm-meter. Where can I find out what values I'm looking for? I know next to nothing about testing to that extent.
Also, what if it's the motherboard itself? Isn't there somewhere in the bios and/or windows device manager that I can confirm whether or not the device itself is working, or not working, properly?
Thanks for your replies so far.
Mike,
I honestly don't know, but the case only has one audio cable, and the MB only has one audio plug-in for the front panel. I have both drivers installed. The on-board audio plug-in on the rear of the computer works fine. I can get sound, etc, no problem from the rear. Front panel only is not working.
