P965 Neo-F V2 boot cd issues

Good Evening,
I got about 5 news systems with a mix of the P965 Neo boards. Some are the old Revision 1.1 with the Award bios and others at Rev 2.1 with the AMI.
These came with windows oem installed.
With myself owning a rev 1.1 Neo board at home I had no problems setting up those systems with and using GHOST.
It's the Neo-F V2 boards I have problems with.
Spec:
Antec Sonata with a Antec Trio Power 550watt PSU
MSI P965 Neo-F V2
Core 2 Duo E6600
OCZ Platnium Rev 2.2
GeForce 8800GTS 320meg
80 gig Seagate 7200.10 SATAII
Sony IDE DVD-Rom
What I notice from the boards is the ide controllers been different. Also the options in the bios for configuring them been different when compared.
The only boot cd I got to work out of the 3 systems based on that V2 board was the Windows XP Home OEM cd that came with them.
My Linux distros burnt on Taiyo's, Verbatims couldn't boot. It would show a blinking cursor then start dropping down 10 pixels when each dvd-rom seek scan then hit the bottom of the screen and stayed there. My GHOST 11 network boot cds couldnt boot either same display output. These have been tested and verified in other systems. I also use the same dvd-rom that came with these computers.
I'm abit at a lost seen how I need to create my images for when more are ordered.
Thanks for any help,
Malbojia

The board has a Marvell 88SE6111 Controller to provide an IDE port (P965 Neo uses a JMicron Controller).  As far as I know, Linux Distribution have to come with Kernel v2.6.20. to support Marvell Chipsets correctly.  Could that be it?

  • P965 Neo and core 2 duo issue

    I have a P965 Neo
    Vista x64
    Intel Core 2 Duo 2200
    4Gb Ram
    ATI radeon HD 3650 512Mb
Core 2 duo processor seems to run a lot warmer than I think it should, both idlling and running high demand things (like games). Real Temp show the cores running at 83degC at times when CPU has been running at or close to 100% constantly. SpeedFan also shows high temps, and I have tried to control the fan speed using this program, but the max RPM of the standard Intel fan is approx 2000RPM, which I think I have it running at constantly.
I have just bought and Arctic Freezer 7 to cool it a bit more, but Im hoping someone has some help re some BIOS or other settings I can tweak to remedy this. Dual Core Center doesnt run on Vista x64 (I think), so I cant use that for anything.
One point I did notice was something about the CPU and 550MHz in the BIOS - offhand I cant remember what this was (Im at work now).
The RAM seems to be running at 800MHz, and the FSB is 200MHZ (ie not over or underclocked). I dont see any option to adjust the CPU Multiplier if this is a solution.
I hope this gives someone enough info to help! If you need anything else I can post it when I get home.
Firstly - apologies if this has been answered or is a stupid question - Im working my way through the forum trying to find answers, but nothing yet.
Im newish to the PC building game, and I know the basics, but BIOS stuff, overclocking etc is still unknown to me

I can say I have not updated the BIOS from whatever was delivered in the box. If it helps I have this info:
    Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
That is not your BIOS Version. Check your current BIOS Version by looking at the information displayed on the POST Screen:
In your case it should say: "W7235IMS V1.??"

When you mention, real temp running at 83C, may i know where you're monitoring from?
Cas, he says he is using  Real Temp to check is processors Core Temperatures.  Real Temp is a Windows based application:
    http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/
    Quote
I would suggest you to monitor the temp in bios either under hardware monitor or health status
Note that the BIOS does not display Core Temperatures (which are read directly from the registers of the processors).  The CPU Temperature displayed in BIOS depends on an analog sensor.  CPU Temperature and Core Temperatures cannot be simply compared.

  • K8N Neo USB Problem + Boot/Shutdown issues

I just bought the K8N Neo and I am having problems with it.
First problem is usb. Sometimes when I boot up my mouse and keyboard won't work. That only happens sometimes though. The bigger problem is, that usb devices (mouse and keyboard) fail randomly. Like I'd be playing a game, then I suddenly hear the sound that windows makes when you disconnect a usb device, keyboard and mouse are dead, and then 10 seconds later I hear the sound for plugging an usb device in and all is back to normal.
I've read some of the older threads where other people are having that problem too but I have not found a solution to this yet. I'm using the two usb ports that are attached to the mainboard. Also I tried to disable "allow windows to shut down this device to save power" (or whatever it says) in the hardware device manager for the usb hubs as somebody on this forum suggested. Didn't help.
Usb keyboard/mouse support is turned on in the bios and I have the newest drivers installed for everything.
My second problem is that when I start windows (XP) I would see the loading screen but it's very very dark and nothing is happening (like it's frozen). About 15 seconds later it suddenly is brighter and I see the "loading bar" moving. Also, whenever I try to restart or turn the pc off I get a similar freeze. After clicking on Start->Shutdown the mouse cursor turns into the sandclock and I can't do anything. Can't click on any icon nor the taskbar. Takes about 5 minutes for anythingto happen. That's when I get the "turn off, restart" screen. After clicking on something I'd see "please wait while windows is shutting down" for another 5 minutes to so. Any ideas as to what could be causing this behaviour?

@gamecock: How do I get the drivers for IDE back to the Microsoft version? Do I have to run the Nvidia Setup again and remove the driver or is there a different way? (btw I'm booting from the IDE drive)
Go to your device manager, then IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, and double click on the NVIDIA nForce3 250 Parallel ATA Controller (v2.6).  You can try to roll back driver and see if it puts you back to Microsoft.  If you've upgraded from 2.5 then you will only go back with an Nvidia driver again.  If so, then choose to Update Driver instead,  at Welcome etc choose No, not this time, Next, Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), Next, and then click Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install and Next.  At the Select device driver, you should have checked Show compatible hardware and several drivers should show in the Model window, at least the Nvidia and the Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller.  The standard is the Microsoft driver.  Choose the standard driver and Next.  You will have to reboot  and hopefully things will be better.  To put it back to Nvidia you only have to repeat process about but select Nvidia or run their install again.  Later....

  • P965 platnium and windows boot up issues

    Hello,
I put my computer together yesterday and everything seemed to work alright.  I was successfully able to install windows.  The issue i have is that windows will only load up once, then it will always freeze on start up.
For example last night, I reinstalled windows, got to it to load up, installed my network driver, browsed the web for a few minutes, and then restarted the computer.  Then windows froze up during start up, so i reboot, and try to boot into safe-mode, which also ends up freezing after loading a few files.
This has been very repeatable, I can always reinstall and get back into windows, but i can not restart without it freezing.  I ended up downloading liveupdate and updating the bios to 1.2, but that didn't seem to help.
    my computer spec-

    37gig wd raptor drive sata
    samsung 16x dvd burner ide
    *antec smartpower 450w ps
    no overclocking,everything is default settings
To make the issue more complex, I took out the harddrive and dvd burner and put them back into my old computer, reinstalled windows, and was able to reboot successfully.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks.

Hi Guys, hope I can use some help here...
I'm having an issue that whenever I turn on my PC, My PC will keep rebooting without going into bios. No display but it's running.
After thorough checks, I notice the on-board led stuck at the Memory Detection Test before it restarts. This has never happen before until recently... I have no clue what happen to it. After unplugging the ram and put it back, it will work for the day before failing me again the next time it start.
I did a memory test and the ram is good. Could it be the memory slot issue? I hope some kind souls can direct me to the right direction.
And everytime the PC is boot up from failing, it will show this error message.

Thanks for the help seriously. Anyway, went to main office and get the board tested. They said the board passed the test. NO error was found. I was skeptical as I am experiencing the problem... They said is ram issue, I brought my ram along and they tested it too. Again, no error was found.
I wonder what caused this overclock problem issue...

  • MSI p965 NEO boot problems

    Hello everyone.
My DVD-rom is installed in IDE, and i have sata HD. My boot device is CD-rom.
OK, so my problem is that i puit windows XP cd in my dvdrom, because i want to install XP. Ok, so firstly my dvd doesnt show up on the IDE listing, they are all 'None', i press F1 to continue, my other option is DELITE to enter bios. Ok, so i get to a screen where my HD shows up, and also my DVD, then i get the option to enter the realtek setup hablahabla shift+f10, and this i dont need. Then i get to another screen it shows all these different things but ends with "Verifying DMI pool data ....." and then i get the msg ITLDR is missing, and i get the option to press CTRL alt delete to reboot.
So plz, how do i fix so that i can fornmate my hd and install windows XP?
    thanks //eric karlsson

fendic thanks for your input, its given me some progress i hope.
I did connect it to one of the four ones, not the 1 in other color. Now, this made my HD show up as IDE Secondary Master. Instead of the previous "none", the rest of the IDE on start are still "None". As for my "DVD-ROM", after ive pressed F1 during the first screen, i get on the second one saying 0DD0: Optiarc DVD RW AD-5170A, in green text, which is my DVD-ROM. Now, i think the issue for some reason is that even though i have CDROM as first boot device it still trys to boot it from HD. because when i unplug my HD i can boot XP using my windows XP CD in my DVD ROM. Also, my BiOS is 1.5, im not sure how to flash bios using a floppy or whatever, but i will look into it and ill post if i ever succsed to make my bios 1.6. Oh, and yes im using a SATA HD.
    Thanks
    Eric Karlsson
EDIT; I flashed bios to 1.6 now, but the problem still remains im affraid.  Iv bin doing some lurking about and i cant let go off 1 thing, and its "enable JMicron as IDE". Since my DVD-rom shows in green text druing the JMicron screen.
EDIT2; This is how i flashed, its from a post on tgis forum. I had to unplug my HD to make it boot from the CD-ROM. But after puting the HD back on, it still does not work.
"Hello, welcome to forum. if you are planing to update BIOS:
get P965 Neo BIOS ver. 1.6 CD Image (have modded boot record and integrate JMB361 Dos drivers.)
    How do i flash it?
Extract image file from archive, and burn it to CD.(example: open it with nero burning rom and burn image file to CD)
Make and ensure PC is stable, then reboot PC and boot from CD. you will need to confirm twice BIOS update when asked.
after BIOS update is complete successfully, power down your PC, remove power cord from the PSU, hit few time power button to drain electrify from capacitors, touch some metal with hands to discharge any ES which you may have, then open the case and Clear CMOS then pull back power cord, and turn on your PC, will be notice CMOS CHEKSUM MISMATCH/ERROR, hit F1 to continue to rebuild DMI Pool Data, then reboot your PC, and enter in BIOS and LOAD BIOS DEFAULT, SAVE AND EXIT, go back to BIOS and apply your customs settings."
Check the bold part in the qotation, thats the drivers for JMicron i think, still there is no succses for me.

  • MSI P965 Neo-F + DDRII 800 TwinX (2x512mb) issue

Hi, ive recently built a new system a couple of days ago and im having a few issues with it... i 'presume' it may have something to do with ram/mobo compatability.
    Heres my system, no oc'ing:
    MSI P965 Neo-F
    1Gb (2X512Mb) Corsair TwinX DDR2 PC6400 (800) @ 5-5-5-18 1.85V (mobo default)
    480W power supply
The issue seems to be that during boot up the system loads into windows XP then after about 20-30 secs the system will reboot itself for no reason (no event log), then it kinda has a set of mini reboot fits during POST.
After the system has settled down it will boot into windows XP fine and i have no further issues at all... it runs all my games/apps perfectly.
Can anyone shed any more light on this issue ?

first, stop the board from auto-rebooting, by going to Control Panel , System Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery, uncheck "Automatically restart". See what the bluescreen error code is. That would help a bit.

  • P965-Neo and jMicron issue

    Hi,
I have a strange problem with MSI P965-Neo related to jMicron PATA-IDE (a DVD-RW is connected there).
The system is working just fine:
    1) the SATA HDD is recognized in the first BOOT phase and the DVD-RW is recognized in the 2nd boot phase (the jMicron boot phase).
    2) WinXP-SP2 has no problems at all with both drives (HDD & DVD)
    But ...
In case of DVDs (read) I get no more than 1X speed (approx. 1200KB/sec)
In case of CDs (read) I get no more than 8X (approx. 1200KB/sec).
So the max speed for my optical drive is 1200KB/sec.
At this speed it's obviously that I cannot burn CDs or DVDs ...
There're no reading/writing issues with my optical drive (LG H10N) on other systems.
Is someone able to help me ?
    thanks

Set the Jmicron in the BIOS to RAID mode. That worked for me.
    Didn't work (but thanks anyway).
The problem is solved now (I had to waste enough time for that ...).
    The solution: http://www.dieselbenz.info/JMB36X_WinDrv_Beta_R1.17.04.00.rar
It's a beta driver, but this is the answer to all "jMicron on MSI"  bugs.
With that driver I was able to write a full CD at 48X and a full DVD at 8X without any error.
    p.s.
A little piece of advice for MSI team:
The current v1.5 BIOS and jMicron driver are buggy (talking about MSI P965-Neo) !
You have to solve this problem as faster as you can because is very annoying and you'll lose customers !

  • P965 Neo issues with firmware 1.5

    Hey peeps,
I flashed my P965 Neo from 1.2 to v1.5 yesterday. Great stuff! Resolved my boot-up issues and memory troubles!
It seemed like the end of my troubles, untill I noticed my RAID disk was missing. I have a Promise SX4-M RAID 5 controller installed, but it isn't showing up during the boot procedure anymore. In my Windows XP the disk is missing as well. The strange part is that my drivers install properly and I can manage my RAID using the Promise Array Managment tool. This way I can verify the RAID card and HD's are working fine.
Can someone explain this to me pls? Thanks.

I think you're mixing my case with another one. I'm not trying to boot from RAID.
    Let's recap:
I assembled my system with BIOS version 1.2 installed. This gave my problems with my memory (compatibility issue) so my comp crashed regularly. Also I had a booting problem with my primary hard disk (not RAID). I had to have the Windows XP CD in de CD-ROM or it wouldn't boot from my hard disk. These issues were all resolved by flashing to BIOS 1.5
My current problem is that since the flash to BIOS 1.5 I cannot access my RAID array. During start-up it isn't displayed anymore witch it always did using various previous mobo's and the current mobo running BIOS 1.2 Once Windows starts I can install de drivers of the 'Promise FastTrak S150 SX-4M' RAID card and it is recognized in my system devices. I can also manage the RAID card with the Promise Array Management software that came with the card. I can't however, communicate with the disks attached. When I look at the log of the mangement it shows me read errors on random disks.
What I tried to do to locate and fix the problem:
    - Install the RAID in another PC -> It works fine
    - Tried playing with different BIOS settings -> didn't work
    - Change the slot on the mobo -> didn't work
    - Searched for IRQ or DMA conflicts -> found nothing
    - Installed my OS with RAID drivers during installation -> didn't work
    - Installed my OS with RAID drivers after OS install was complete -> didn't work
    - Installed different versions of mobo chipset drivers -> didn't work
    - Relayed the problem to Promise -> told me the error codes indicate a read error
    - Relayed the problem to MSI customer service -> got config suggestion and advice to go back to BIOS 1.2
    - Tried changing the 'option boot ROM' like MSI suggested -> didn't work
    - Tried contacting MSI about it again -> no replies
    - Trying to wait for new update -> doesn't seem to work...
I can't go back to BIOS 1.2 bacause then my system starts crashing again and I'm stuck with my Win XP CD in the drive the whole time. So as a last resort I turn to you guys to pass this plea through to someone within MSI that can actually help. I've been waiting several weeks on anything indicating that this problem is being handled properly and I'm getting impatient now.

  • MSI P965 Neo-F (MS-7235) problem booting from USB flash drive

    Hi, all!
I was wondering if someone can help me. I am trying to install Windows 7 x64 on my 320GB HDD that is connected to my MSI P965 Neo-F (MS-7235) mobo (The CPU is a Core2Duo 6600 with 6GB of RAM). I created a bootable USB 8GB flash drive using Microsoft's "Windows 7 DVD USB Download Tool" and bootsect.exe (Needed to create a boot sector on the USB drive) from the MS store. I successfully tested the resulting bootable USB drive using freeware MobaLiveCD (Sorry, you'll have to Google "mobalivecd" since this forum doesn't seem to allow external links) running under Windows XP SP3 x86 (32bit). Under MobaLive's QEMU, Windows 7 setup loaded its files and produced an error message basically saying that it could not install Windows 7 x64 under an x86 OS (No surprise there since QEMU is emulating a 32bit processor - The point is that the bootable USB drive I created works).
I then went into my mobo's CMOS and under Advanced BIOS Features -> Boot Sequence -> 1st Boot Device, set the value to "USB-HDD" and rebooted my machine. The USB drive probably was not detected by the mobo under that setting because it proceeded to boot from my HDD which is the 2nd Boot Device. I repeated the same process using each one of the  four USB ports in the rear of the mobo (I don't have the optional USB panel that the MSI users manual mentions) to no avail. I also tried setting the 1st Boot Device to "USB-FDD" and repeated the process for each USB port but the mobo still will not boot from the USB drive (It does not recognize it). When I set the 1st Boot Device to "USB-ZIP" and rebooted, the mobo hangs after "Verifying DMI Pool Data ..." which is no surprise since I am not using a USB ZIP drive but a USB flash drive. It appears that under that setting, it recognizes that there is a USB device attached but it is expecting a response (From a USB ZIP drive). I had no idea it would be this frustrating to boot from a USB flash drive! If anyone knows how to make this mobo boot from a USB flash drive, please let me know. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The P965 Neo motherboard is 8 years old, so don't expect miracles. .... You need to format the USB stick in the proper way. You may use this utility to do it: hxxp://www.prime-expert.com/flashboot/ Also, it's a good idea to use the first (USB0) connector (controlled by Intel ICH8) for the USB flash drive. Good luck.
Thank You for your fast response, RemusM!
I'm not looking for a miracle. I'm just looking for a mobo that does what it is supposed to do: Allow me to boot from a USB flash drive (I don't think that is too much to ask for even from a board that was made in 2006)!
Thanks for recommending FlashBoot. I see under their "Why FlashBoot" section that it "... does not shift to user the burden of choice between "USB-ZIP" and "USB-HDD" at format time and proper BIOS setup at boot time. ... and every USB disk is formatted in such way that it will work in every environment properly, regardless of current BIOS setting.", so I will give it a try and let you know about the results afterwards.

  • Few issues about MSI P965 Neo F

I have recently put together my C2D system. Details are in my sig. I have a few queries related to the mobo. BIOS is already flashed to v1.5.
    1. Are P965 and P965 Neo F 2 different boards? Because their pics, specs etc are the same.
    2. My 2 optical drives are connected as master/slave to the IDE port while my HDD is SATA. I cant figure out which mode the optical drives are running in. Current transfer mode shows 'Not Applicable' in Device Manager in Windows Control Panel. During boot, both drives show up in DOS screen. How do I get them both to run in UDMA mode?
    3. My DVD writer is running slowly while the combo drive runs well.
    4. When I install SMART monitoring utilities, they are unable to retrieve any info from my HDD. Why is this so? SMART is enabled in BIOS. I want to monitor my HDD's temp. through Windows.
    5. I have installed CoreCentre. Whenever I run it a warning sounds and CPU Fan speed flashes. Speed is shown around 830-840 rpm. Is this enough? If not how do I increase it? My system is running at default speeds. I havent overclocked at all. Fan monitoring is enabled in BIOS.
    6. When RAM timings are set to auto in BIOS, Cpu-Z shows 5-5-5-13 latency. But when I manually set the timings to 4-4-4-12 through BIOS, Cpu-Z shows 4-4-4-20 latency! What is going on?
    Kindly advise. Thanks!

But that is exactly the problem. I am unable to set the UDMA mode. All IDE channels in BIOS try to detect the hard disks, when actually no hard disk is connected to IDE. HDD is SATA. Optical drives are connected to the solitary IDE port. I have kept all PIO mode and DMA mode settings to AUTO.
Windows is showing my optical drives to be SCSI devices.
Even Sisoft Sandra is showing my optical drives in SCSI devices tab. Following are the details for my dvd writer :

  • P965 Neo-F & Boot problem

    Hell all
I fitted a new MSI P965 Neo-F which is labled on box but not with the F on the motherboard itself.  It also has on the motherboard 7235 v1.1
    Ok Intel D 920 3.2GHz 800MHz FSB
2GB Crucial DDRII 800Hz Kit not balisix
    x1 WD Sata HDD
x2 Lite-on DVD Wtrs same model.
    BIOS v1.5
    Bios version is W7235IMS Broadwater
The thing I am trying to avoid is on pre-post boot (if this is the correct word to use) it does a memory count which delays the boot of the machine considerably and is so annoying.
I have in the BIOS the option for fast boot Enabled and it still does a memory count.  Is their any way to stop the memory count.
Other thing I have noticed in BIOS where Drives are listed under the main section, the Drives attached to machine are not listed.
also after getting past the memory count the next screen pauses with the WD HDD and underneath the x2 optical drives again slowing boot down.
Is this becuase of my DDRII 800MHz and BIOS being v1.5 ?
Thanks in advance for any help please.

That doesn't matter.  Don't worry about the -F.  It is still the same (the right) board.

MS-7235 is the model number and v1.1 is the PCB Version.  The Info means that you have a P965 Neo(-F).

Clear CMOS with man A/C power cable removed from PSU and load "Optimized Defaults" in BIOS.  See what happens after that.

Only drives hooked up to the ports hosted by the primary Intel ICH8 Controller are listed in BIOS.  Drives connected to the ports of the secondary JMicron Chipset (IDE Port and one SATA port (the one that has a different color), do not appear in BIOS because the JMicron Chip has its own firmware.

That is the BIOS/Firmware of the JMicron Chipset checking and listing the drives that are connected to its ports.  Nothing to worry about.

  • MSI P965 Neo-F Sata & IDE presentation (& boot options)

    hi,
    I have purchased a MSI P965 Neo F motherboard.
    http://www.msicomputer.co.uk/Product...3735&cat_id=77
I have flashed the bios to the lastest 1.18 revision.
If you look at this board, you'll find it has 5 SATA ports.
    - 1 SATAII port by JMicron JMB361.
    - 4 SATAII ports by ICH8.
    Questions:
1.) The machine only appears to be able to boot from the 1 jmicron sata port.
2.) within the bios any disks plugged into the board on the other 4 ports show up as "ide" disks, this could be wording or this could be some cheap bus trick

    Hi, thanks for responding,

no wrong with "ide", as SATA ports on ICH8 are detected as IDE devices, (as opposed to detected as SCSI device).
could you clarify this, I think its just the "no wrong" line, what do you mean by this.
    Quote
No, the machine is able to boot from any JMicron port, including PATA port.
there is only 1 jmicron sata port, so my initial comment was aimed at you can only boot from this 1 sata port - not the other 4 ich8 ports, I assume thats correct from your comment.

  • P965 Neo temp issues

Hi I'm really happy with my board, no problems yet Thankfully, also had a great installation, of windows vista RTM, and windows xp. But the rare issue i have is that my e6400 at stock, speed and with stock hsf, makes like 41c temp. this have been happening with the new 1.6 Bios release. any one have an idea why, and also my is always at low rpm, like 1300 or so, thanks.
and also, why Vcore voltage is so unstable, it move from 1.18 to 132v any ideas.??

I did some thermal throttling tests.
    E6400 @ 2.130mhz (stock)
    MSI P965 Neo-f (bios 1.6b13)
    Speedfan 4.32 Beta 8
Stresstest & Rightmark CPU clock utility from www.rightmark.com i think. if not that try google
At first I tried to set fan running at minimum speed. Well it was cooling too much and I could not hit over 67C.
So I obviously had to disconnect the CPU fan.
After that temperatures started to rise. At 83C thermal throttle started up. I dunno why the hell the threshold is so high, and I dunno if it can be changed with some program, didn't find any settings from rightmark cpu clock utility.
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/~prc/temp/TM1.JPG
Picture 2 shows that temp readings are lost while cpu is throttling and stresstest is running. I guess this is because most CPU cycles are used for cooling CPU, not doing much work.
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/~prc/temp/TM2.JPG
Well I continued this for a while, what a heck this box has still warranty left
Picture 3 shows that thermal throttle is able to keep Core temps about 82C without fan running. Obviously stresstest + thermal throttle was reason for losing CPU temp readings, as seen in picture 3 temp readings came back after stopping stresstest.
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/~prc/temp/TM3.JPG
I killed the stresstest, but left CPU fan disconnected. I can again see the temperatures. Its 82C.
At this point my computer still works without any problems.
Well I connect my CPU fan back. And temps starts to decrease fast, after going below 80C thermal throttle was disabled. It "saved" my CPU. BUT!
Now I get report from windows that my RAID1 device is broken, one of the HDD's goes missing.  HMMMM?. (to note im running temporarily software RAID1 on Jmicron connected IDE hdds).
Well I decide to reboot my computer, Windows shutdowns normally. At post first everything seems ok, my SCSI card finds both my HDDs etc etc. Then comes Jmicron's turn to find HDDs, it just freezes there. Hmm interesting, did I broke my mobo??
I try reset button, again same thing.. $hit !!!.
I shutdown the computer, and turn on again and everything works again. OMG
So before someone tells how to set different threshold for cpu throttling it might work, but at least my p965 neo-f doesnt like it. My guess is that the North Bridge is overheating as there is almost no airflow there, without cpu fan running. (There would be airflow from my computer case coolers, but I did it case open, and my fans are attached to the opening side panel, so the werent blowing in the case atm).
But atleast 70-80C should be safe temps for the cpu.
