P965 Neo issues with firmware 1.5

Hey peeps,
I flashed my P965 Neo from 1.2 to v1.5 yesterday. Great stuff! Resolved my boot-up issues and memory troubles!
It seemed like the end of my troubles, untill I noticed my RAID disk was missing. I have a Promise SX4-M RAID 5 controller installed, but it isn't showing up during the boot procedure anymore. In my Windows XP the disk is missing as well. The strange part is that my drivers install properly and I can manage my RAID using the Promise Array Managment tool. This way I can verify the RAID card and HD's are working fine.
Can someone explain this to me pls? Thanks.

I think you're mixing my case with another one. I'm not trying to boot from RAID.
Let's recap:
I assembled my system with BIOS version 1.2 installed. This gave my problems with my memory (compatibility issue) so my comp crashed regularly. Also I had a booting problem with my primary hard disk (not RAID). I had to have the Windows XP CD in de CD-ROM or it wouldn't boot from my hard disk. These issues were all resolved by flashing to BIOS 1.5
My current problem is that since the flash to BIOS 1.5 I cannot access my RAID array. During start-up it isn't displayed anymore witch it always did using various previous mobo's and the current mobo running BIOS 1.2 Once Windows starts I can install de drivers of the 'Promise FastTrak S150 SX-4M' RAID card and it is recognized in my system devices. I can also manage the RAID card with the Promise Array Management software that came with the card. I can't however, communicate with the disks attached. When I look at the log of the mangement it shows me read errors on random disks.
What I tried to do to locate and fix the problem:
- Install the RAID in another PC -> It works fine
- Tried playing with different BIOS settings -> didn't work
- Change the slot on the mobo -> didn't work
- Searched for IRQ or DMA conflicts -> found nothing
- Installed my OS with RAID drivers during installation -> didn't work
- Installed my OS with RAID drivers after OS install was complete -> didn't work
- Installed different versions of mobo chipset drivers -> didn't work
- Relayed the problem to Promise -> told me the error codes indicate a read error
- Relayed the problem to MSI customer service -> got config suggestion and advice to go back to BIOS 1.2
- Tried changing the 'option boot ROM' like MSI suggested -> didn't work
- Tried contacting MSI about it again -> no replies
- Trying to wait for new update -> doesn't seem to work...
I can't go back to BIOS 1.2 bacause then my system starts crashing again and I'm stuck with my Win XP CD in the drive the whole time. So as a last resort I turn to you guys to pass this plea through to someone within MSI that can actually help. I've been waiting several weeks on anything indicating that this problem is being handled properly and I'm getting impatient now.

  • P965 NEO freezing with internal memory card reader?

    Hi,
I have a P965 NEO (MS-7235 Bios v1.5) and when I plug the internal card reader into the motherboard (connections JUSB1, JUSB2, JUSB3) The system will freez. If I un-plug it (even when the PC is still on) the computer will unfreez. I am dumb founded by this issue and require any help!
    Cheers....
I am using Windows XP pro.

Actually I did state I am using XP (Pro in fact).
I am using a 450Watt Power supply (Thermaltake).
And with the problem I am having I do not think it would matter for you or anyone else here to know if I have 1gig of ram or 2 hence why I did not put up system specs. I feel the problem is Motherboard/ Card reader related so I posed all info that was required for this issue. I even posted the Bios version so  I think I have not posted to little info for the situation.
Also there is no need to be so rude!
I did not post my reply to you in such a too the point fashion but since that is how you like to communicate I responded this way in this post.

it seems like my current XTC-ST1CF-2TB7K having an issue with its firmware.
Basically way i see it i have drive with wrong SATA interposer card installed.
CAM shows my current drive firmware as 0605( which is not correct ) and i cant upgrade to 0704 which is correct firmware for this drive.
it gives me an incompatible image supported error msg. Is there any way i can wipe the firmware of the sata interposer card soley and reinstall propwer firmware
or any other way around to make XTC-ST1CF-2TB7K to 0704 version ?
Im using 390-0474 drives with SM04 firmware and running CAM version 6.9
    thank you!

hi thanks for the prompt reponse
however i wasn't able to open the service request as oracle support i cant validate serial number of hard drive ( this is required field )
i assure this is genuine sun drive, i have tried with multiple other sun hard  but nothing comes up neither..

  • Multiple issues with firmware 2.0.1 update on iPhone 3G

i ran the update the day after it was released and have experienced numerous issues since. first, none of my downloaded third party apps worked, they all crashed. i tried syncing, restoring from backup, and various other methods but the only thing that worked was restoring the phone to factory default settings and importing my contacts/music/etc. and manually downloading all of the apps. to say the least this has proven to be a very frustrating experience.
now that my apps are working once again, the iPhone battery life has become atrocious. it used to last about a day, even with some moderate browsing, email checking, etc. now it lasts 5 hours tops from a full charge.
i charged it at work to a full charge before i left and it literally ran out of juice by 10 PM. and this was with NO browsing or data access! something's not right.. it seems like the phone is staying constantly connected to wifi, even in "sleep" mode. it used to disconnect from wifi when in sleep and re-connected when i was actively using the phone, which is desirable.
does anyone know how to get iPhone to disconnect from wifi when not in active use?

i don't think the wifi connection is being disabled, because there used to be a momentary lapse between unlocking the phone and the wifi symbol appearing (presuming that delay was the time it takes to reconnect to the wifi).
now, the wifi symbol is present immediately after unlocking.
push is enabled, but i'm fairly certain it was before as well (when the battery life was normal). i can try to disable it to see if it makes a difference.
ask to join networks is disabled.
    thanks for your quick response.

  • Issues with firmware v5.1.1

I've noticed since upgrading my Z2, my phone thinks it's roaming while it's in my house. I enable and disable flight mode to get the phone to get back on my network. Does anyone know why this may be happening?

Hi @AlexMcLellan @KornY I suggest you to first run a backup of the device information like this: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/Backup-amp-Transfer/m-p/407253#U407253 Try performing a system repair using PC Companion: http://support.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/ This will factory reset your phone and erase all data. You might need tocharge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery. Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device). Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process. If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP. Also you can take a look at this link: http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/03/17/guide-to-installing-xperia-lollipop-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool/ I hope can be useful. Best Regards,

  • P965 Neo-F BIOS settings

    Hey guys,
I am using P965 Neo-F with the official bios 1.60.
Many guys mentioned settings of FSB:Memory to 1:1 (divider) in bios,
I have never found such a option in my bios. So where is it SPECIFICALLY??
sorry that I am a noob. the reason that I want to do this is my computer won't boot on restart. I have to mannually hold the power botton to shut down and reboot by pushing power again. the FSB was set to 333MHZ. PSU is 650W antec.  system is stable when it is working.
    thanks!

Does anyone know how much of a performnce increase lowering memory timming gives anyhow?
The impact on performance is insignificant.
I did a few tests a little while ago using Everest 3.5 (FSB @300 MHz, RAM @800MHz) on my system.

  • SATA Drivers for P965 Neo ?

    Ok.. first time  here..
I have an Intel E6600 Core 2 Duo running on an MSI P965 Neo MB with 2 GB RAM, with a Seagate ST3320620AS 320 GB SATA drive. The OS is WinXP Pro.
For the most part, everything is ok. However, I suspect the HD is not running at max capacity. In some basic file transfer tests, I calculate that the data transfer rate is about 32 MB/Sec.  Running the PassMark Performance Text, it says about 46 to 47 MB.  However, the specs on the Seagate site say this drive should be able to run about 72 MB in sustained transfer rate.
Now I have been chatting on some other boards about this, and the consensus is that I should have installed the SATA driver prior to the WinXp install (when prompted press F6 to install 3rd party drivers). However, when I look at the MSI site ( http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_list.php?part=1&kind=4&CHIP=4&COM=24 ), I only see RAID drivers. I am not interested in running RAID - besides, I only have one hard drive. Are there some specific SATA drivers I need to install before installing XP? If so, which ones and where do I get them?
Secondly, if I DO need to install a driver, how do I go about this without a floppy drive?  When I bought the system, I opted to get flash media card reader instead of a floppy drive, since I thought floppys were pretty much obsolete.  Will XP recognize the driver on a flash media card instead of the floppy drive, or do I need to now buy a floppy drive?
    Paul

    Maesus..
    Many thanks for the reply!
The drive is in SATA port 1, and the drive is a Seagate ST3320620AS 320 GB SATA II, rated at 3.0 GBits.
The board has 5 SATA ports, numbered: 1, 3, 4, 6, and 7.  (Not sure why there are no 2 or 5 ports.)
The manual says they are all high speed SATA II ports, rated at 300 MB, and although the specs say there are 4 SATA II ports by ICH8 and 1 SATA II port by JMicron JMB361, it does not specify which is the JMicron port.
Do you know which port is the JMricon? And can I move the cable to a different port, without affecting operation? i.e, will the system still boot up?  Or does moving it involve reloading the OS? Do I need to load a 3rd party driver for the ICH8 ports?
    Thanks for your assistance!
    Paul

  • P965 Neo -F V1

    Hi Folks
i am sure somebody out there can help...so here goes.
    recently purhcased this board - P965 Neo V1 with a Dual core E5200 2.5Ghz and geil pc6400 2x1GB ram (ddr2 800) 2.0V, Geforce GS8400gs, 650W PSU
    all above is new
using old HDD and DVD etc
However, the system wont boot-no video output.
I have no speaker so can't hear BIOS beeps (if any) but fans and Geil ram lights up (ram is in 1&3 slots)
obviously guess work without speaker but as its Sunday and nowhere open am in a corner...
I think ram is to blame as Geil Black Dragon ram takes 2.0V NOT 1.8 as standard.
would the BIOS auto detect here or would i have to put in DDR 2 1.8V ram in order to boot to BIOS and then alter voltage.
I have tried taking batt out and removing CMOS jumper etc and also checked for shorting on system.
everything appears to work ok but no Video out.
    Many thanks

    Hello,
    the MSI P965 Neo(-F) [MS-7235 v1.x] does not support 45nm processors:
    http://global.msi.eu/index.php?func=prodcpu2&prod_no=265&maincat_no=1&orderby=cpu_name%20ASC#menu
Please test a supported CPU and see if there is any change in behaviour.  The E5200 will probably never be officially supported on this rather old mainboard.

  • P965 Neo-F Duel Channel Configuration

Hi i was wondering if some one here could help me,
At present i have 2 sticks of 512MB  DDR2 800 and was wondering if i could put in an additional 2 sticks of 1GB DDR2 800 to bring it up to 3GB but keep it in duel channel ??
    i currently have a P965 Neo-F with bios version 1.6 and a core2 duo E6300

That default 2.1V looks like factory overclocking (and this is not good for your system stability).
To get the best results (stability) in case of "dual-channel architecture" use a pair of DDR2 modules having these default specs:
    DDR2-667 with 4-4-4-12 at 1.8V
    or
    DDR2-800 with 5-5-5-15 at 1.8V
Also, if you need my advice, use Corsair, Kingmax or Kingston.
    cheers

  • MSI P965 Neo-F + DDRII 800 TwinX (2x512mb) issue

Hi, ive recently built a new system a couple of days ago and im having a few issues with it... i 'presume' it may have something to do with ram/mobo compatability.
    Heres my system, no oc'ing:
    MSI P965 Neo-F
    1Gb (2X512Mb) Corsair TwinX DDR2 PC6400 (800) @ 5-5-5-18 1.85V (mobo default)
    480W power supply
The issue seems to be that during boot up the system loads into windows XP then after about 20-30 secs the system will reboot itself for no reason (no event log), then it kinda has a set of mini reboot fits during POST.
After the system has settled down it will boot into windows XP fine and i have no further issues at all... it runs all my games/apps perfectly.
Can anyone shed any more light on this issue ?

first, stop the board from auto-rebooting, by going to Control Panel , System Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery, uncheck "Automatically restart". See what the bluescreen error code is. That would help a bit.

  • P965 Neo temp issues

Hi I'm really happy with my board, no problems yet Thankfully, also had a great installation, of windows vista RTM, and windows xp. But the rare issue i have is that my e6400 at stock, speed and with stock hsf, makes like 41c temp. this have been happening with the new 1.6 Bios release. any one have an idea why, and also my is always at low rpm, like 1300 or so, thanks.
and also, why Vcore voltage is so unstable, it move from 1.18 to 132v any ideas.??

I did some thermal throttling tests.
    E6400 @ 2.130mhz (stock)
    MSI P965 Neo-f (bios 1.6b13)
    Speedfan 4.32 Beta 8
Stresstest & Rightmark CPU clock utility from www.rightmark.com i think. if not that try google
At first I tried to set fan running at minimum speed. Well it was cooling too much and I could not hit over 67C.
So I obviously had to disconnect the CPU fan.
After that temperatures started to rise. At 83C thermal throttle started up. I dunno why the hell the threshold is so high, and I dunno if it can be changed with some program, didn't find any settings from rightmark cpu clock utility.
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/~prc/temp/TM1.JPG
Picture 2 shows that temp readings are lost while cpu is throttling and stresstest is running. I guess this is because most CPU cycles are used for cooling CPU, not doing much work.
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/~prc/temp/TM2.JPG
Well I continued this for a while, what a heck this box has still warranty left
Picture 3 shows that thermal throttle is able to keep Core temps about 82C without fan running. Obviously stresstest + thermal throttle was reason for losing CPU temp readings, as seen in picture 3 temp readings came back after stopping stresstest.
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/~prc/temp/TM3.JPG
I killed the stresstest, but left CPU fan disconnected. I can again see the temperatures. Its 82C.
At this point my computer still works without any problems.
Well I connect my CPU fan back. And temps starts to decrease fast, after going below 80C thermal throttle was disabled. It "saved" my CPU. BUT!
Now I get report from windows that my RAID1 device is broken, one of the HDD's goes missing.  HMMMM?. (to note im running temporarily software RAID1 on Jmicron connected IDE hdds).
Well I decide to reboot my computer, Windows shutdowns normally. At post first everything seems ok, my SCSI card finds both my HDDs etc etc. Then comes Jmicron's turn to find HDDs, it just freezes there. Hmm interesting, did I broke my mobo??
I try reset button, again same thing.. $hit !!!.
I shutdown the computer, and turn on again and everything works again. OMG
So before someone tells how to set different threshold for cpu throttling it might work, but at least my p965 neo-f doesnt like it. My guess is that the North Bridge is overheating as there is almost no airflow there, without cpu fan running. (There would be airflow from my computer case coolers, but I did it case open, and my fans are attached to the opening side panel, so the werent blowing in the case atm).
But atleast 70-80C should be safe temps for the cpu.

  • Q6600 overclock with MSI p965 neo 2

    Hi,
I would love to overclock my q6600 from 2.4 to 3.0 Ghz.
I've bought a new cooler and placed it.
    Specs:
    Q6600 , 2 Gb ram, nvidia 9800 GT, 500GB.
    Motherboard:
    MSI p965 neo2 (MS-7235 v2)
    Software: Windows 7
The bios isn't very easy. It isn't possible to adjust everything.
Help pls. I installed a new cpu cooler and it should reach 3.0
    Thanks in Advance.!

    Thats right, as 10acjed said
    (2x) 1 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM (6-6-6-18 @ 400Mhz) (5-5-5-15 @ 333Mhz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266Mhz )
I can also choose 800 Mhz like the picture of his, but the adjusted dram frequency differs and 800 will result in like ~999.
Btw the dram Mhz is on generally on [auto], but that is the same as 800.
So I set it to 667, So the adjusted dram freq will be around 830.
that could be your problem right there. Is that when you are running at 300 FSB??
Try it at 533 and see what happens... If it is at 830 when set to 667 and you try and raise the cpu  higher its also raising the ram higher, probably causing an issue..
I am still pretty sure you are hitting a wall with that board, its just not a great overclocking board. I am extremely disappointed with my NEO-F as far as overclocking goes. But its been running stable for about 3 years now so its a good board....
If all else fails run it at 300 - 320 (as high as you can get stable) and put the ram at 667 so it runs around 830, ou will have a nice moderate OC...

  • P965-Neo and jMicron issue

    Hi,
I have a strange problem with MSI P965-Neo related to jMicron PATA-IDE (a DVD-RW is connected there).
The system is working just fine:
    1) the SATA HDD is recognized in the first BOOT phase and the DVD-RW is recognized in the 2nd boot phase (the jMicron boot phase).
    2) WinXP-SP2 has no problems at all with both drives (HDD & DVD)
    But ...
In case of DVDs (read) I get no more than 1X speed (approx. 1200KB/sec)
In case of CDs (read) I get no more than 8X (approx. 1200KB/sec).
So the max speed for my optical drive is 1200KB/sec.
At this speed it's obviously that I cannot burn CDs or DVDs ...
There're no reading/writing issues with my optical drive (LG H10N) on other systems.
Is someone able to help me ?
    thanks

Set the Jmicron in the BIOS to RAID mode. That worked for me.
    Didn't work (but thanks anyway).
The problem is solved now (I had to waste enough time for that ...).
    The solution: http://www.dieselbenz.info/JMB36X_WinDrv_Beta_R1.17.04.00.rar
It's a beta driver, but this is the answer to all "jMicron on MSI"  bugs.
With that driver I was able to write a full CD at 48X and a full DVD at 8X without any error.
    p.s.
A little piece of advice for MSI team:
The current v1.5 BIOS and jMicron driver are buggy (talking about MSI P965-Neo) !
You have to solve this problem as faster as you can because is very annoying and you'll lose customers !

  • FIRMWARE ISSUES WITH CREATIVE ZEN V P

    What is going on?!?!!
Just about every other thread i've read on here somebody has my same problem:
) My Zen V Plus was not recognized by my computer and it was always stuck on "rebuilding library" when i turned it on but when it got halfway through, it stopped, and all the music i already had on it was inaccesible.
    2) I tried reformating, cleaning up, and, when i tried reloading the firmware,? my player became completely useless!!!!!
Trust me guys, i tried everything else that was suggested on the threads prior to 3/3/08, i even e-mailed someone from CREATIVE,?but when i reloaded?the firmware, it was all over. To top it off, my warranty is no good anymore.
But what surprises me more is the fact that so many have the same problem?and the?guys from CREATIVE still haven't figured out a solution.

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I FIXED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure how i did it but i will explain as best as i can.
Okay, my problem was that my player was not recognized by my computer when i plugged it in, yet my player was in recovery mode when i plugged it in.
So i went to the RECOVERY TOOL on this website. Like the previous times, it said my player wasn't plugged in. At that moment, i quickly unplugged my player and reformatted it, but while it was formatting itself i plugged it back in, while the RECOVERY TOOL was waiting for my player.
Suddenly my Windows Explorer prompted me to choose if i wanted to sync it with windows media player or to just open the files it contained. I WAS SO SURPRISED! But was even more surprising was that the RECOVERY TOOL finally recognized it and i inmediatley updated my firmware...
So there you have it guys, if you're having trouble like i was, just unplug your player when using the RECOVERY TOOL, start FORMATTING it and while it's formatting, quickly plug it back in.
I hope this helps and thanks? for all of your tips and information.
NOTE: my sync manager still didn't recognize the player but i think it has something to do with software compatability issues with Vista, even though it worked the first time when bought my player. But my Windows Media Player works just fine with it. :smileyvery-happy::smileyvery-happy::smileyvery-happy::smileyvery-happy:
