P965 platnium and windows boot up issues

Hello,
I put my computer together yesterday and everything seemed to work alright.  I was successfully able to install windows.  The issue i have is that windows will only load up once, then it will always freeze on start up.
For example last night, I reinstalled windows, got to it to load up, installed my network driver, browsed the web for a few minutes, and then restarted the computer.  Then windows froze up during start up, so i reboot, and try to boot into safe-mode, which also ends up freezing after loading a few files.
This has been very repeatable, I can always reinstall and get back into windows, but i can not restart without it freezing.  I ended up downloading liveupdate and updating the bios to 1.2, but that didn't seem to help.

saphire 9750 xt pciE video card
37gig wd raptor drive sata
samsung 16x dvd burner ide
*antec smartpower 450w ps
no overclocking,everything is default settings
To make the issue more complex, I took out the harddrive and dvd burner and put them back into my old computer, reinstalled windows, and was able to reboot successfully.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

from some of the other posts that i've read, it seems that there can be an issue between using an Sata hard drive and an IDE cdrom drive.
I'll try downloading the newest jmicron drivers.

  • Neo Platinum and windows boot

well i got this board just last week along with an AMD 64bit 3200+ CPU .. everything is running fine except when i boot
the "platinum" screen shows, then detects my raid card (silicon image sil 0680 ultra-133 medley ata raid) and the one drive attached to it, after that it goes to boot into windows, the "windows XP" logo appears faded (like 20% opacity) then the computer hangs for like 30 seconds (the logo is frozen, as well as the bar) then the logo appears normally and the blue bar starts moving and windows boots up fine ...
    anyone have any suggestions? :D
    btw im a newbie :p
    thanks, levi.
    running windows XP SP2

I'm there brother - I got the same EXACT problem.  But I believe this is related to the BIOS version.  From what I've seen, people have fixed this issue by installing the 1.43 BIOS (currently in beta).  I'd love to know when they're going to release it officially.
IOW, we gots to wait   ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....

  • [SBS 2011] USB drive 3 TB and Windows Boot

Attached new USB drive to the SBS server. The previous one, 2 TB,  died. This one is 3 TB. When I reboot the server, I see the message 'Windows is starting' briefly and then it halts with an error. Can't make a screenshot, but it's something with UEFI
boot. Didn't know what caused this, so I tried starting Windows in safe mode. Same error. O dear. What has changed recently... ah, them USB drive. Unhooked it from the server and Windows booted just fine.
I didn't have this problem with the previous USB drive. The BIOS / UEFI setup of the server is set to boot from harddisk, then CD/DVD. The USB drive isn't coming into play at the boot stage. And it doesn't since I briefly see the message 'Windows starting'.
When Windows starts, it somehow does something to the USB drive and then decides it can't start. How do I prevent Windows from checking them USB drive at startup?
    Simon

None of them answers are correct. I don't use the drive for Windows Backup. Tested the drive and it's OK. I rebooted the machine so I could create a screenshot. When Windows starts, it displays the text "Windows is loading files...."
and a progress bar at the bottom of the screen. When that bar is full, the machine stops with an error. It looks like this error is triggered by the BIOS, since it displays:
    BIOS rev 2.3.3
    A system restart is required.
The system detected an exception during the UEFI pre-boot environment.
Press Enter on the Serial Console for detailed exception info.
Type: General Protection Fault (13) Source: Software (UEFI0011)
Then a bunch of numbers and the line:
    -->rip C023D04C bootmgfw.efi <--Crash occurred here
Reading this, I wonder if it's a Windows problem or some BIOS / UEFI thing?

  • No AC Power, Battery not charging, Windows boot up issue

Searched the forums but could not find an answer for my specific problem.
    COmputer: L355 - S7905
    Windows XP Professional
Issue: installed new motherboard.  When on AC power, laptop shows a steady green LED light but will not boot up without the battery installed.  Will not stay running when the battery is removed or dies.  When plugged into AC power, battery charging light is on but battery continues to lose power; will not charge.  Had the computer operating properly initially but noticed the power issue.  I ran a chkdsk on one of the subsequent boot ups and now have a "config.sys file missing" error and can not get into windows any longer.  I was going to try some of the battery charging suggestions listed on this forum but no longer can get into windows or the recovery council.  Last screen attainable says to select "R" to repair system using a Windows disk.  Can not get to a DOS prompt.
    Status so far:
    - Ran volt meter check on power adapter and getting steady 19 volts.  Various motherboard checks with a voltmeter are seem normal.
    - All LED lights on laptop are indicating the computer is working in a proper state (ie power light on, batt charging light on, HDD light on when in use, etc)
    - replacement motherboard is the EXACT same motherboard as the original.  Same model - identical.
    - Can get passed BIOS screen successfully; can get into boot options screen (Safe Mode options, command prompt, etc) but all options eventually default to an error message I get from the chkdsk program and I can not go any further.
    - Laptop did not come with an original Win XP restore disk.
    - Battery is a replacement but is the exact same part number as on the Toshiba original battery.  Battery seems to be operating perfectly once it is charged (had to go to computer accessory store for charge)
    Questions:
    - Why is the AC power only not able to run the laptop??  Is it a software issue??
    - Once I can get into the windows OS, I presume I should be able to correct the battery not charging issue . . . is that right??  Sounds like it is a software issue from what I have read on the forums.  My plan was to reinstall the Windows operating system but I can not do that on battery power alone.
Any suggestions on how to proceed??
    Thank you - Paul
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Lawrence - Your suggestion was right on target, the replacement adapter solved my power problem.  I would have never believed that to be the problem since the digital voltmeter was indicating the required 19v from the defective adapter, I would obviously NOT have figured this out on my own.  Thanks for your time, response and help on this issue, I really appreciate it.

  • Reader X and Windows 7 Printing Issue

We have upgraded are PC from windows xp to windows 7 64bit. When i try to print a PDF from the internet, sometimes it will print then, most of the time the PDF goes to non-responsive. I have to start the task manager and end the task, which closes the browser only thing i have found to work is if i do a resart of the PC.

    Good day,
Could you provide some additional details about both the file and your system's configuration?
What version of Adobe Reader X do you have installed? (Help > About Adobe Reader)
If you haven't updated to 10.0.3, please do so and see if the issue persists.
How was the PDF file you're searching created?  (File > Document Properties > What does the PDF Producer line say?)
Are you experiencing this with multiple files?
Have you installed SP1 for Windows 7?

    Hello everyone
I would like to know if my MSI P965 NEO motherboard is compatible with Windows 7. I've read on the website that it is certified with Windows Vista, but not any mention about Windows 7.
    TIA

I have a P965 Neo motherboard and Windows 7 Home Premium OS. It works without any problem.

  • CS3 dds drivers and Windows 7 64bit issue

I have photoshop CS3 working however I can't load the dds drivers. I've tried everything see below. Anyone been able to load the Nvidia dds drivers?
What is the proper proceedure to effectively install the DDS files in CS3 in a windows 7 64 bit environment?
I tried the 32 bit and 64 bit files and when I use the 32 bit file i get an error opening up photoshop that says missing D3x9_43.dll, and I don't have the option to save in a .dds format. If I uninstall the dds 32 bit program the missing D3x9_43.dll error goes away.
When I load 64 bit version no errors but I still don't have the option to save in .dds format. Kind of frustrating..................
I've just uninstalled and cleaned CS3. I've done a new fresh load of CS3. What are the correct steps from here?
Which file should I download? etc.
    Thank you in advance.
Ok, I've tried everything I can find.
I let the 32 bit dds program load to a seperate folder and manually transfered the files to the proper folders in Photoshop and still get the same results as above. I tried renaming them and removing the 32 extensions and still no go. I did the same thing with the 64 bit program and still no go.
The 32 bit program said it was still looking for the D3X9_43.dll file for some reason. I haven't tried downloading that file since I don't know where to put it.
Can someone please help me. Has anyone got the DDS files to work with CS3 and Windows 7?
    Thank you
    Bill

Got it fixed. I loaded the drivers from my old XP machine. drivers are from 2007. Don't remember where I got them from but they worked.  I can save dds files again.
    Thank you for the reply.

  • Huey Pro and Windows 7 64bit Issues

Hi there, having problems I am afraid. If I calibrate my two monitors with the Huey pro all works fine except when I run LR 3.0. None of the thumbnails or pictures display at all. They are there as I can see the histogram for each one. Delete the huey profiles and pictures appear again, but unfortunately I loose my calibrations. Running the latest Huey software and windows 7 has all the updates. Any suggestions, and many thanks for looking? Chris

Are you creating V4 profiles? If so create V2 profiles. I beleve LR is one of those programs that doesn't like V4.
I also just found this on the X-rite website.
The huey display calibrator is not designed to calibrate multiple monitors attached to the same computer. If you have dual monitors and your video card supports multiple monitor calibrations, you should check out the higher-end display calibrators such as the i1 Display 2 or i1 Display LT.
If you have two monitors connected to your computer, huey calibrates the monitor that has been designated as the primary monitor. (The primary monitor is the one with the task bar. Monitor designation is done in the Mac System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement or Windows Control Panel > Displays > Settings.)
You may be able to calibrate both monitors if you first designate one as the primary, calibrate it, then designate the second as the primary, and calibrate that. However, this is not a supported feature and may not work with all video cards and monitors. The software for i1 Display, on the other hand, lets you move the display calibration interface to whichever monitor you want to calibrate.

this entire system was running with a different brand mobo (just upgraded to this msi-7125) and was running great!!
however when i installed windows xp media center edition 2005, things where working great.  that is until i installed the nforce system drivers from the disk that MSI provided me. once i installed the ethernet driver,ide-sw driver, network controller the ask me for a reboot after install was done,  when the system restarted i got all the way the windows xp splash screen or loading screen.  at that point windows stops loading stays on the loading screen for about 10 minutes, then the computer shuts off.
i have tried running memtest and had no errors, im positive that my psu is capable of handling my components.
i'm really stuck on this one, any help would great thanx again!!!
    Sam

You should be able to get into Windows through safe mode. From here uninstall the drivers and restart. You should hopefully be able to get into Windows normally now. Get hold of the latest drivers from the Nvidia web site and try them.
Also check both Ethernet controllers are enabled in the BIOS.

  • P965 Neo-F V2 boot cd issues

    Good Evening,
I got about 5 news systems with a mix of the P965 Neo boards. Some are the old Revision 1.1 with the Award bios and others at Rev 2.1 with the AMI.
These came with windows oem installed.
With myself owning a rev 1.1 Neo board at home I had no problems setting up those systems with and using GHOST.
    It's the Neo-F V2 boards I have problems with.
    Spec:
Antec Sonata with a Antec Trio Power 550watt PSU
    MSI P965 Neo-F V2
    Core 2 Duo E6600
    OCZ Platnium Rev 2.2
    GeForce 8800GTS 320meg
    80 gig Seagate 7200.10 SATAII
    Sony IDE DVD-Rom
What I notice from the boards is the ide controllers been different. Also the options in the bios for configuring them been different when compared.
The only boot cd I got to work out of the 3 systems based on that V2 board was the Windows XP Home OEM cd that came with them.
My Linux distros burnt on Taiyo's, Verbatims couldn't boot. It would show a blinking cursor then start dropping down 10 pixels when each dvd-rom seek scan then hit the bottom of the screen and stayed there. My GHOST 11 network boot cds couldnt boot either same display output. These have been tested and verified in other systems. I also use the same dvd-rom that came with these computers.
I'm abit at a lost seen how I need to create my images for when more are ordered.
    Thanks for any help,
    Malbojia

The board has a Marvell 88SE6111 Controller to provide an IDE port (P965 Neo uses a JMicron Controller).  As far as I know, Linux Distribution have to come with Kernel v2.6.20. to support Marvell Chipsets correctly.  Could that be it?

  • EA4500 – Smart Wi-Fi interface and Windows Network Map issues

I purchased this Router about 2 weeks ago as a phased upgrade of our Home Network, primarily to enhance media streaming. It has the latest firmware preinstalled from the factory. Prior to the purchase and installation of the EA4500 Router I replaced my old Motorola SurfBoard SB6120 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem with a Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem. My old Linksys E2000 Router worked perfectly with the SB6141, with the exception that the E2000 wasn’t IPv6 enabled, but does have 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet (RJ-45) and Internet ports.
The EA4500 has been installed for about 10 days and seems to have improved local network speeds and I don’t seem to be having any Internet connectivity issues. However, there are some disturbing issues with the EA4500 and the AE3000 I purchased. There are 11 devices connected through the Router; a Dell Desktop (wireless with the AE3000), a Dell Desktop (Ethernet), a Dell Laptop (wireless), 2 Canon Printers (1 Ethernet and 1 Wireless), 2 Western Digital 1TB MyBookLive Network Drives (both Ethernet), a WD TV Live Streaming Media Player (wireless), an Apple TV media player (wireless), an iPad (wireless), and an Android Smartphone (wireless).
Issue 1 – The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi interface appears to be unreliable at times!!! I’ve read about this problem here on the Community involving the EA6500, so I don’t know if this is a Linksys Server issue, as suggested in a few responses, or a bug in the Router firmware, or defective hardware. However, when the interface locks up, it can’t be accessed from a wireless or wired connection. Usually, powering down the Router and then powering it back up and restart will allow it to function again. However, at times before the interface completely locks up it shows either just a white screen or the security screen will show no firewall features enabled. This is a little scary, so I’ll do a complete reset and setup; this is becoming a pain in the rear!!!!! Is there any hope for this being fixed, in this Router, not the next generation??????????
Issue 2 - All of my network devices show up in the Router’s Device List. Except for the Apple devices they also show up, when they are online, in Windows 7 Explorer under Network and when you click on Network they are correctly displayed as Computers, Media Devices, Network Infrastructure, or Storage. However, when you click on “Open Network and Sharing Center” and then click on “See Full Map”; it fails with the response “Windows cannot create the network map. Responses from other devices on the network are delayed or there is an incompatible router on the network”; no device map is shown. When I follow the link for more information, the only thing that stands out is “A device on the network, such as a hub or switch, is not working properly or is not compatible with the Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) protocol, which Windows uses to create the map. To fix this problem, disable the device, turn it off, or remove it from your network”. All of my network devices showed up on the Network Map with the old E2000. This issue is the same on all of my computers, either wired or wireless. Any known solutions for this, or is it as Windows suggests; an incompatible Router????
Thanks in advance for any insight or solutions. With the issues I’m having with the EA4500 and the AE3000; they are both probably going back to Amazon.

thebluemamba_24; Thank you for your suggestion; I finally found time yesterday to perform an extensive evaluation before I return the Router. However, rather than trying to add devices manually, my rationale was if the EA4500 can’t process them correctly, automatically, it needs to be returned anyway, so I added devices normally letting the device an Router handle the process.
In thinking through this issue, all devices on our network are detected and identified by Windows Explorer on Windows 7 computers; except of course the Apple and Android devices (Apple TV, iPad, and Smartphone). So, I wondered if one of those three devices being added to the Router’s device list was somehow causing issues or interfering with Windows 7’s ability to generate a Network Map. Therefore, my approach was to turn off or disable all devices on our network, reset the Router to factory defaults, reestablish the Router to my custom Home Network configuration using a Windows 7 PC that has LAN and Wireless access to the Router, then add one device at a time and check with each addition to see if Windows 7 could still generate a Network Map.
With the Router reset and reestablishment complete; I began the process of adding one device at a time and checking to see if a Network Map was being generated. What I discovered was when a recent addition to the network, a Western Digital WD TV Live Streaming Media Player, was connected (wirelessly), Windows 7 could no longer generate the Network Map and the failure was consistent. The only way to get the Network Map to work again was to remove power from the WD TV Live, although it remained in the EA4500’s Device List; simply turning it off didn’t help. Since I’d originally witnessed the Windows 7 Network Map working with the Linksys E2000 Router that the EA4500 replaced, I decided to test the WD TV Live with that Router. It worked initially, but it failed consistently after the first success. Interestingly, the failure indication was a little different, but nevertheless generation of the Network Map failed.
I’ve tried changing a few settings on the EA4500 as well as the WD TV Live, but nothing helped. There was a recent firmware update to the WD TV Live, so I might try rolling back the firmware to see if it makes a difference.
The Network Map issue might very well be an issue with the WD TV Live, not the Router, but after reading many threads on this Community I have reservations that the problems I’m experiencing with the Smart interface lockup will be fixed. I suspect new emerging replacement products will be the focus and these older products will be abandoned and no more firmware fixes will be forthcoming and I don’t want to spend more money for a new product just to fix old problems and get something that works properly. The Network Map issue is troublesome, but the lockup of the Router’s “Linksys Smart Wi-Fi” interface is a serious matter to me. It appears that once it locks up, the only way to correct it is a power off restart; not practical if you’re traveling and trying to access settings remotely; the selling point for this feature.
Given the problems I’m experiencing with the EA4500 and AE3000, I guess I’ll return them. Too bad, because otherwise the EA4500 seems like it’s a good Router. I’ve been brand loyal since the Linksys WRT54G came out, but after reading this Community and with my personal experience with the EA4500 and AE3000, now I’ll probably give the NETGEAR N900 equivalents a try.

  • Creative Cloud and Windows 8.1 issues

Hi. I recently bought a lap top with windows 8 on it. I then installed Creative Cloud and installed some CC apps no problem. Then I updated to 8.1 and now the CC application does not work. All of the apps that I was able to download work fine, it's just the creative cloud app that does not work i.e. blank screen. Does anyone know about any fix for this?
    Thanks

Just an update to my previous post -  I have resolved the issue.
It turned out to be a Windows 8.1 User account problem. Not sure why it happens however I managed to get it working by creating a new Admin account and opening Creative Cloud from there...This worked fine for me, I installed all my packages.
I then returned to my orginal admin account and all apps functioned perfectly. I couldn't figure out why the orginal admin account had problems however the new one worked fine.
    Give it a try...

  • Lightroom and Windows mouse focus issues.

In one aspect Lightroom have been always behaving different from other Windows application: Its speed of grabbing mouse focus and moving window to the foreground is exaggerated. This problem will be observed only by people using their WinXP computers in "X11 mode", like with Unix, what allows to perform interaction with processes associated with windows without ever clicking on, or raising such window. Should you be working on large computer clusters as I do, this focusing feature its a blessing.
This how you can reproduce: Use Tweak UI to adjust the mouse behavior. Select "Mouse," step down to "X=Mouse" and check "Activation follows mouse." Do not select "autoraise."
Now your WinXP will behave similar to the real X11 xterm with mouse having the "no raise selection" policy. Its not quite identical to xterm, but it really works perfectly in most cases.
Except... well, except with Lightroom. Lightroom grabs the pointer and pushes the window to the foreground in splits of a second. For example, go to
"Help|About Adobe Lightroom" to see the credit window. It appears than as usual, but since the help menu will be dismisses, the pointer stands on the main Lightroom window, what makes the credits window vanish in split of a second. No chance to see it!
Another case: Assume that Lightroom uses almost the entire desktop down to the task bar, and your browser window is smaller. Select the browser on the taskbar and try to move mouse to it. No chance! Lightroom will take over and pop itself to the foreground again. The only solution is to minimize Lightroom. And than sometimes something happens that Lightroom will not restore itself anymore! The "Restore" operation is grayed out, one can only Maximize it. We have reported this numerous times before.
I am aware that this problem relates only to WinXP users with X11 mouse mode, but with Lightroom reaching now a high degree of maturity, maybe we could take a look at this problem as well?

In order to overcome most of the known navigation and/or focus issues you need to be using the following:
<li>Forms 10.1.2.3 or newer (latest is 11.1.2). If/when you are using 10.1.2.3 you would also need to install patch ID 9593176 as this contains additional fixes for focus issues.
<li>JRE 1.6.0_26 or newer (latest is 1.6.0_30). The latest is always recommended as it contains the most up to date fixes for both technical issues and security issues.
Patches are only available on MyOracleSupport: http://support.oracle.com

  • Ise and windows CA cert issues during tls

    Hi All,
We are having some issues when doing eap-tls during onboarding. The setup is to have a single ssid network. Clients initially gets connected via peap and after onboarding it is eap-tls. The environment is a 2 tier CA hirearchy having a root-ca (offline) and intermediate CA (this is the AD domain enterprise CA and scep server). ISE cert was signed by the intermediate CA for https and eap. Also imported the certificate chain from the intermediate CA to ISE cert store (converted from .p7b to .der). It also has the scep RA certificate and scep communication between ise and scep server looks ok.
The issue is during the onboarding process (tested with windows xp) after the redirection to guest poral, windows SPW wizard starts and prompts to confirm the user certificate. This keeps on prompting after 'ok' is clicked and does not proceed further. The 'view certificate' shows the following error " The issuer of this ccertficate is not found". ISE shows the following errors in authentication details (jpg attached). Windows SPW logs shows that it keep on retrying authentication.
The issuer of the client cert which is the intermediate CA cert is already in the ISE certificate store. Therefore shouldn't that client get this issuer CA details from ISE and ISE should be able to authenticate client during onboarding to start the tls connection? Do we have to import seperate certs for root-ca, Intermediate ca in ise store instead of the chain?
Does anybody had this issue with ISE in a hirearchical CA environment?
    Thanks in advance.
