PA-RISC to Itanium. Oracle 10.2.0.4

Hi gurus !!!
We are planning to move form HP-UX PA RISC 11.11 + Oracle 10.2.0.4 to Itanium 11.31v.
We've read carefully, many documentation and notes, but we are not sure about Oracle.
How we install oracle on Itanium ?.  Which manual we need to follow ?
When we solve about oracle we are plant to do :
1. Install OS patches and Kernel parameters on Itanium
2. Create File systems needed on Itanium
3.  Install Oracle Software 10.2.0.0 ( ?¿? .. Our question , PA-Risc we are 10.2.0.4)
4. Copy Data Files
5. Copy SAP software from PA-RISC (/usr/sap/trans and /sapmnt//exe
7 .CHange all host related files like listener tnsanmes etc çç
8. Satrt SAP
Please could anyone tell us step by step about Oracle ?
Thanks in Advance.

Hi
Moving  form HP-UX PA RISC 11.11 + Oracle 10.2.0.4 to Itanium 11.31v.
HPIA64 and HP-UX PA-Risc versions of SAP software are not Binary Compatible the components must be Replaced with the Verssions for HP_UX IA64 on Target system )     &     Oracle release and patch level for  database in the source and target system  should be the same (10.2.0.4).
1)     Perform the database offline backup of the source system(PARISC)
2)      install SAP and Oracle on the Target system system (HPUX IA64 ) (Download from market place  SAP support version HPUX IA64)
3)     Perform the sap kernel Upgrade
4)     Stop the sap & and oracle
5)     Restore the offline Database into Target system.
Thanks & Regards

  • SAP BI-BO Integration for "BO XI 3.1 on HP-Unix-PA-RISC-64 bit"+Oracle WAS

    Hi,
We have set up SAP Integration Kit to integrate SAP BI 7.0 and BO XI
3.1. Our BO system is set up on Unix HP-UX-PA-RISC 64 BIT and Oracle Web Application Server
    10.1.3.
When we are creating a WebI report using WebI Rich Client, we are able
to fetch the data from SAP BI Query and also refresh the data using
    WebI Rich Client (Desktop).
When we are creating a WebI report from Infoview, we are able to create
the WebI report, but we get the database error "Unable to Bind to
    NetworkLayer Object"
(WIS 10901)" when trying to Run the Query i.e.
fetch the data from SAP BI Query. Same error is also there when we try
to refresh the data from Infoview for a WebI report created using WebI
    Rich Client (Desktop).
We raised an OSS Message with SAP. We got a response that :
    ====================================================================
The reason you're having this problem seems to be because you don't have the SAP dataAccess library (libdbd_sap.so) and its equivalent config files (sap folder).
Those are the files that manage the connection from BOE queries to SAP.
You can check that they exist in your Windows client fine(.dll).
Here's what I have in my HP-UX system:
    $ ls -l sap
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 xi31 users 4671488 Sep 13 2008 libdbd_sap.so
    sap:
    total 80
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 xi31 users 4650 Sep 13 2008 sapen.cod
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 xi31 users 358 Sep 13 2008 sap.prm
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 xi31 users 10670 Sep 13 2008 sap.rss
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 xi31 users 1343 Sep 13 2008 sap.sbo
These drivers are not installed with the SAP Kit but with the BOE setup
itself - meaning you can have a system without SAP Kit but with these drivers.
On the other hand, with SAP Kit, you can have other features such as your working SAP authentication fine but not this one since it comes with BOE.
    ====================================================================
Request the SDN Community to check the below mentioned :
    Platform : HP-UX-PA-RISC 64 bit
    Oracle WAS (instead of Tomcat).
    1) Which installer was used to install BOE XI 3.1 ?
    2) Is the BOE XI 3.1 base installer available for HP-UX-PA-RISC-64 bit ? I could not find one at SAP Service Market place (the nearest one is for HPP - 32 Bit)
    3) Do you have the relevant SAP Folder & Drivers on this path, as per the above SAP OSS Message.
    4) Any inputs on how to resolve the issue (we have so-far tried with 4 different installers for HP-UX-PA-RISC and not got any success)
    regards,
    Rajesh K Sarin

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
    (A) We have attempted with BOE and SAP Integration Kit in the sequence. My earlier communication has all the attachments for the steps followed, and the SAP message.
    (B) We have HP-UX-PA-RISC-64 bit. Request to please point us to the correct installer on this link
    (C) We have done 4 complete trials :
    1) BOE XI 3.0 Installer provided by BO Consultant, 6 months back & rest downloaded from SAP Service Market Place.
BOE XI 3.0 --> Upgrade to BOE XI 3.1 --> BOE FP 1.2 for XI 3.1 --> SAP Integration Kit for BOE XI 3.1 --> Integration Kit FP 1.2 --> Oracle WAS Manual deployment steps
    2) BOE XI 3.0 Installer & rest downloaded from SAP Service Market Place.
BOE XI 3.0 --> SAP Integration Kit for BOE XI 3.0 --> Oracle WAS manual deployment steps
    3) BOE XI 3.1 Installer for HP-UX-PA-RISC-32bit (HPP) & rest downloaded from SAP Service Market Place.
BOE XI 3.1 --> SAP Integration Kit for BOE XI 3.1 --> Oracle WAS manual deployment steps
    4) BOE XI 3.1 Installer provided by SAP OSS Support & rest downloaded from SAP Service Market Place.
BOE XI 3.1 --> SAP Integration Kit for BOE XI 3.1 --> Oracle WAS manual deployment steps
None of these steps have helped us.
SAP OSS Support asked us to check availability of the "SAP Folder" and "Lib / driver" files on the Connection Server Directory; which would appear once BOE XI 3.1 installer is installed (ONLY BASE Install, SAP Integration Kit is not needed).
We have also confirmed this with one another Client / Project. They have HP-UX-Itanium-64 bit and BOE-XI 3.1 only base install (No SAP Integration kit). This particular SAP Folder / Drivers are available without any SAP Integration kit.
Request to correct me, if I am wrong :
SAP Integration kit additionally provides the drivers needed for Crystal & SAP Authentication.

  • Hom System Copy ECC 5.0 HPUX from PA-RISC to Itanium

    Hi gurus,
I want to replace an old PA-risc server (rp5470) with a new Itanium server (rx6600) even in HPUX operative system where is installed a central instance of NW04 Ecc 5.0.
It is possibile to procede with a simple Homogeneus System Copy, changing the kernel version (ia64 instead of parisc) and oracle executables?
There is a plain compatibility between parisc binaries (oracle datafile) and the itanium binaries?
    Thanks in advance,
    Marco

reading note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1003028">1003028</a> it looks very much like you can now do a heterogenious system copy using the homogenious system copy procedure backup/restore as long you stay on Oracle.
This procedure is also very interesting concerning 9.2 to 10.2 upgrades during system copy.
    regards

  • Running VB6 on Itanium Server to Connect Oracle 10g workaround

Hello, It might help someother in the future, so I am writting it here. It took our one week to find that walkaround solution.
    Platform:
Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Itanium + Oracle 10g R2 Itanium Server
Code written in Visual Basic 6.0 + VC++6.0 (MFC, heavily ATL)
Database access are done thru OLE DB.
    Problem:
32 bit applications are not able to connect to Oracle 10g. A vbs test application can connect to 64 bit oracle itanium server, but the same code in vb6 cannot connect to oracle.
Error message is -> 'Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed.'
We found that means an 32 bit application cannot access to 64 bit oracle data providers for ole db!
    Solution:
We have installed 32 bit Oracle 8.1.7 client on Itanium server. And We have created TNS definitions within Oracle 8.1.7 oracle\network\admin directory manually (you have to do that by hand) when we run TNSPING <OUR-TNS> it started to work.
Out vb6 test application started to run correctly after these.
I hope this will help somebody, since nobody helped us to save time.

The essbase server name is ts119licalnn, it is shown under essbase servers in EAS.
By not using the default Essbase node 'EssbaseCluster-1', it has revealed the port number EAS uses to connect to essbase, in this instance, 1443.
The problem was that I did not have the correct port number, is there an easier way of finding the correct port number?
    Cheers,

  • DR on different Oracle binaries

    Dear DBA,
our production database is 11gR2 (RAC) installed on HP-Itanium processor and we are planning to install the DR server (dataguard physical standby database) on HP- PA-Risc processor.
this installation requires 2 different Oracle binaries (one for the Itanium and the other for the PA-Risc).
do you think that it is feasible ? or the binaries should be the same ?
    thx in advance
    Elie

    Hi,
It may work as PA RISC and ITanium Server has the same endian so you may be able to setup DR between Itanium and PA RISC server. You may have to test this though before setting it up for a production database.
There could be some unknown which may cause issue later during several failover/switcher senerio that you have to make sure that it works. I know that datafiles can be copied from PA Risc to Itanium to set up another database without any issue due to both using same endian format.

  • Oracle DB service - wrong credencials

    Hi, all.
We've got a problem with communicating between web server (Win 2003, IIS 6) named WEB and DB server (Win 2003 Itanium, Oracle 10g 10.2) named ORACLE.
DB service has to read the file from special folder at web server into BLOB using special dll function. A share is created for that folder with full access permissions to ORACLE$ account, meaning computer account of DB server.
This scheme works on about 10 our servers all around the country, but not on these 2 servers.
It works for two times (2 files are loaded) but when any user tries to load the third one (no matter, which user, which file) we get "Access denied" error while DB tries to read the file.
Windows Security logs show us, that for first two files Oracle server uses ORACLE$ account mentioned above, but then it starts using NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON account.
We tried to restart servers, listener, DB service, but it never helps. After a while everything becomes OK again - again for two files - and then the same shit happens.
    Any ideas?

    user8321972 wrote:

"I've built a car to carry some people using special alloys, but it doesn't work"
Have you actually written some code? If so is it in one of Oracle's recognised languages - PL/SQL,SQL,Java - and could you share the code that is failing.

  • Can we connect to oracle 9i using vb6.0 in 64 bit machine.

Can we connect to oracle 9i using vb6.0 in 64 bit machine.
    Code i have written is
    dim conn as new ADODB.Connection
    conn.open("Provider=MSDAORA.1;password=pw;user id=usname;data source=dbname;Persist Security info=false")
but it is throwing an error saying
    "Connection not open"
But the same code is working in vb.net.
Do we need to install any providers for 64 bit machine?

I have had no luck doing this in the 64-bit ODAC or otherwise. If anybody succeeds I would love to hear about it. My experience follows for those interested:
I am trying to migrate some working VB6 code from Windows 2000 Server to 64-bit Windows Server 2003 but can't get the OLEDB connection to Oracle to work.
In the working code (x86 environment), I am using ADO 2.8 and Microsoft OLEDB Provider for Oracle (MSDAORA). Since the Microsoft OLEDB provider for Oracle is no longer supported or available on Windows Server 2003 x64, I tried to use the 32-bit Oracle OLEDB provider in ODAC 10.2 but may have run into the parsing bug posted on MSDN (http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=159581). Next, I successfully installed the beta 64-bit version of ODAC 10.2, but when I try to open the connection I receive "Error 3706 Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed." However, I can successfully TNSPing the data source.
Windows Server 2003 x64 (not Itanium)
    Oracle Enterprise 9.2
    Microsoft Visual Basic 6
Microsoft ADO 2.8 (Objects & Recordset references)

    Code Snippet:
    Set m_dbConn = New ADODB.Connection

We just got HTMLDB version 1.5.0.00.33 installed on our Itanium, Oracle 9.2.0.5.0. I am now trying to upload a CSS file using the managing images utilities. When I try to upload any file I get the error:

What table or view are they talking about?

Thanks Sergio. We actually found it last night. It seems that the Itanium install instructions may have a typo on the table tames...Please see this note from one of our DBAs...
Here's the deal. The instructions in Oracle Database Companion CD Installation Guide / Chapter 5 Post Installaction Tasks / Post Installation Tasks for HTML DB / HP-UX Itanium and Linux Itanium Only: Configure a DAD for Oracle HTML DB (which I followed to the letter) are incorrect. It shows:
         Field                    Value
         Document Table               WWW_FLOW_FILE_OBJECTS$
         Document Access Procedure     WWW_FLOW_FILE_MANAGER.PROCESS_DOWNLOAD
The original $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/modplsql/conf/marvel.conf had the following values:
         PlsqlDocumentTablename     wwv_flow_file_objects$
         PlsqlDocumentProcedure     wwv_flow_file_manager.process_download
Note that for Itanium, the you delete all but the first line from marvel.conf.
The difference is in the prefix of the value assignments, wwv instead of www.
I changed the DAD to match the values in an unedited marvel.conf.

    Thanks,

    Hi Kalyan,
i referred this blog for adding tns entries for OBIEE 11g, for windows users.cmd has only one TNS_ADMIN, but in users.sh file there are many TNS_ADMIN and moreover all are are commented out, so i am not sure where and to what i should assign the path.
    Thanks,
    Sree

  • Query on Database Export and Import

    Hi Techies,
Currently we are running our Database on Oracle 10g and SAP on4. and OS is HP UX 11.11.
We have a plan to migrate our HW from PA-RISC to Itanium and at the time of Production migration we are planning to use Export and Import method to get free space.
    Our plan is as below:
We will not touch the original Production, Just restore the DB into new server.
And post restore we will create the space on new server equallent to our DB size.
Then will perform DB export from the new system to the null space
Then Import the DB into same system.
    Here my queries are:
    1) Is it possible to export and Import the Database from/to null space?
    2) We have 2T size of DB, And good resources like 32G Ram, 12 CPUs etc. How much time can be expected to perform Export and Import?
    3) What are the challenges we can expect?
    4) Minimum how much of free space we can expect with this option?
    Regards,
    Nick Loy

So with test runs I can expect rapid speed in DB export and Import (1T/H)........If I have good system then Database export and Import gets complete within 2 hrs (Database size is 2T).
Well 1tb is at the very top of expectations here, you should be careful. I did an export/import of a 1.5tb database of an ERP system lately. We did parallel export (40 processes) / import (20 processes) using distmon, source was HP IA64, target Linux x64_64. The disks were midrange SAN storage systems on both sides.  After tuning we managed to do in 6-7hrs.
But in your case, if you only have one system, this could mean you have to drop the source db first and then recreate the target db on the same disks. The creation of the 1-2tb database files alone can take up more than 1 hour , besides that you don't have an easy fallback.
If you have a test system that is comparable from size and hardware perspective, then i suggest you try a test export to get a feeling for it.
What about the Online re-org of database? What would be the best way to get free space within minimum downtime?
Theoretically you should be able to gain more or less the same amount of space doing online reorgs. The advantage is less downtime, the downside is the reorgs will be running over a longer time period and put additional load on the system.
    Cheers Michael
