Package content info.plist nowhere to be found? fix? Bootcamp won't even launch now!
I was trying to set up bootcamp but it wouldn't launch, so I was checking the internet and realized that plist.info wasn't there and I think this is my problem
Does not equate. what won't launch? Boot Camp Assistant? that is an issue for Lion or Snow Leopard.

Trying to understand app info size vs package contents info size
Help needed with a basic question:
The disk space size shown in the info panel for an app: What is it a measure of?
Does it represent, and should it be the same as, the size of the app's package contents folder?
I have several apps whose sizes shown in their info panels are Much less than the sizes of their corresponding package contents folders.
One example is:
The info panel for Preview.app shows size: 40.7MB.
The info panel for its Contents shows size: 70.2MB.
What's going on?
ThanksGlad to help:
If you want to compare getinfo in terminal.app use the "du" command:
du -ch /path/to/file
example
du -ch /applications/preview.app

CFBundleExecutable in Info.plist is ignored
Hi,
I'm trying to customize the behavior of certain application bundles by editing the Info.plist preferences. The idea is to change the CFBundleExecutable key to point to a different file. Unfortunately, my changes seem to be ignored.
As a test, I placed an executable shell script named 'test' in /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/ which launches a different application (so that i will be obvious when it works). Then I opened /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/Info.plist in Property List Editor and change CFBundleExecutable from 'TextEdit' to 'test', and saved it. Now when i double click on TextEdit.app, it should execute my shell script, but instead TextEditor is still launched.
It seems the bundles are hard-wired to execute a file with the same name as the bundle. Is there any way to change this?
If there is a better place to post this question, please let me know.
thanks in advance,
chadHi Chad--
I didn't try it with TextEdit, but I was able to fool around with a bundle I created specifically to test this.
What I found was that changing CFBundleExecutable in the Info.plist file didn't have any effect until I copied the bundle into another folder or onto another volume, and ran it from there, which forces Launch Services to update its copy of the cached Info.plist (an idea I got from the NeoOffice Wiki). I didn't try opening another program, instead each one printed out a bit of text, which got logged in the console.log, so I knew the executable was changing...

Macbook Pro Hard drive partition and Bootcamp Info.plist
Okays, so i was planning on installing windows through USB bootcamp as my CD is broken. I tried editing the Info.Plist and i managed to stuff it up and lost original now it doesnt work, how do i redownload my original one.
THEN i tried to partition the hard drive with disk utility, i accidentally didnt resize each partition and force quit the app and now my hard drive shows 249.56 GB FULL instead of 129.45 full, what do i do to fix my hard drive. in the "about this mac" it shows half my hard drive used as "Other". Please help
Its a Macbook pro 2010 13inch
running 10.9 MaverickHi Michele,
Sounds like a corrupted partition map. Can you run the Bootcamp Setup Assistant again to restore the drive to a single volume? Otherwise, I'd backup the OS X side and then re-partition the drive and start from scratch, then restore your backup so at least you'll be back up and operational on the OS X relatively quickly. -
Hi there,
I've tried to package my app with the latest Xcode 4.5 (version 19 Sep 2012) iOS 6 SDK, Flash Builder 4.6, Flex SDK 4.6 with Air 3.5 Beta overlay.
and unzip the .ipa file and i found the following automated settings on the Info.plist file was wrong:
<key>DTPlatformVersion</key>
<string>5.1</string>
<key>DTSDKBuild</key>
<string>9B176</string>
<key>DTSDKName</key>
<string>iphoneos5.1</string>
According to the Adobe specs, these settinsg are unchangeble, is there anyway to change these values to produce .ipa file that with iOS 6.0 settings with Flash Builder 4.6?
I believe this cause the following appstore submission issue with the iPhone 5 4-inch display splash screen image [email protected]:
Invalid Launch Image - You app contains a launch image with a size modifier that is only supported for apps built with the iOS 6.0 SDK or later.
Many thanks,
ANot everyone here was involved in the conversations that led up to this file, so here are some extra clues:
In your AIR3.5 folder (or whatever you named the folder) is a lib folder. Inside that is the current adt.jar file. Rename that in case you have to go back to it, and drag the supplied adt.jar file into the lib folder. Now publish your app.
You won't even need to quit Flash or Flash Builder.
Once you have the new IPA, go through the usual upload steps to the App Store, using Application Loader, and the file should process ok in iTunes Connect. Note, you will be asked to provide iPhone 5 screenshots. -
I'm publishing an .fla in AIR for IOS.
I'm in CC 2014 so first I need to know which AIR should I publish in?
newest is AIR 14.0.0.178 for IOS
IOS deployment type is App Store
publishes with no error.
I see the following files included .swf and app.xml
I convert the .ipa to a zip file
Upload that thru the Application Loader I get the following error
The package does not contain an Info.plist.
Where is the infoplist for this and do I convert the .ipa and the info to a zip file?
I converted the .ipa to a .zip and the intoplist file is NOT THERE how do I generate this?
Any help here?Ok this is becoming very very frustrating as I have been at this for hours now. So the only way to explain this is to write what I did step by step as I have to be doing something wrong, just to recap:
I was publishing from Flash CC 2014 using AIR 14.0 and getting Digital Certificate is not valid message.
Was instructed to download new AIR 17 , I did this installed into Flash and used to publish.
I used my previous p12, app ID and distribution certificates all generated properly.
The file worked ONCE but I got an app ID error ( I understood I used the wrong app ID)
I changed it to the right app ID and the very next time and after 10 attempts I got the same error Digital Certificate is not valid
SO I then downloaded AIR 16.0
RE DID ALL MY CERTIFICATES AND P12'S
went to publish and I STILL GET THE SAME MESSAGE Digital Certificate is not valid -
I have an ipod touch 64gb. Lately, I discovered an error message on the lockscreen that says "Runtime Error Info.plist not found". What is this, will it effect my ipod, how does it effect my ipod and how do I correct the error? (I see the error message when I power up my ipod and when I reboot).

ApplicationLoader - Icon specified in the Info.plist not found
Fellow developers,
Have any of you seen this error when trying to upload the app using the ApplicationLoader:
Icon specified in the Info.plist not found: iconplus
The icon file is there and has always loaded just fine on the emulator. I entered the filename in the app's Target, but without the .png extension. Is that correct?
Also, I mad sure the icon file name has no special characters or spaces.
Any other ideas? It's not fair not to be in the App Store because of an icon
EugeneTo answer my own question:
Yes, you really need to include the icon's extension when you enter the icon name in your project properties or Target. Also, avoid spaces and special characters in your icon's file name.
Ex: myicon.png
If you don't specify an extension, you will not be able to upload your app to iTunes Connect, but get an error message saying that your icon is not found. -
How to fix runtime error info.plist not found?
i have an ipod touch 5G on ios 7.0.6 and I decided to respring the springboard but when it came back on it displayed a box saying "runtime error: info.plist not found with options of continue or exit." I have tried both but none work. please help
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Quicklook problem: Info.plist exceptions not found
Hi,
I have a problem here which is driving me crazy - I did a clean re-install of Leopard last night (and immediately updated to 10.5.2 after the initial setup had finished).
While re-installing the rest of my software and occasionally having a Terminal window open, I realized that the following message was popping up quite frequently, though in unregular intervals:
Broadcast Message from [email protected]
(no tty) at 21:37 CET...
Feb 16 21:37:08 Mac /System/Library/Frameworks/QuickLook.framework/Resource
s/quicklookd.app/Contents/MacOS/quicklookd[3596]: Unable to load Info.plist exc
eptions
Turning the audible bell off in Terminal preferences made the problem a bit less of a pain, but it's still quite annoying to watch those messages popping up.
I have no idea where to look at, does anybody have a hint how to resolve this??
Thanks in advance!Had this happen to me too. PowerPC, clean install, updated to latest.
Fixed by copying the Exceptions.plist file from a working (updated) machine.
The full path is /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchS ervices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Exceptions.plist -
Info.plist: Unable to verify icon demenstions, no icon found.
Here's a weird problem:
If I build the app for ad-hoc distribution, it runs fine on the iphone 4. I see the icons, everything is good.
Now I do a app-store-distirbution, and this error comes up :
Iphone/ Ipod Touch: info.plist: Unable to verify icon dimenstions, no icon found. You must define CFBundleIcons, CFBundleIconFiles, CFBundleIcondFile or provide a default Icon.png that is 57x57
Ipad: info.plist: Unable to verify icon dimensions, no icon found. You must define CFBundleIcons, CFBundleIconFiles, CFBundleIcondFile or provide a default Icon.png that is 72x72
If I open up the IPA file with Winzip, I can see all the icons in the correct directory.
I have tried this on a new empty FlashBuilder project where I changed nothing except the Application ID and the ICON files.
I have the app set to high-resolution, so there should be no need for a 57x57 icon.
I'm using the Windows version of FlashBuilder 4.5
What is up Adobe?Which program are you using to develop in? If it's Flash Pro then you go into the iOS settings and under Icons you choose the icons to use for each size that it lists. The one used for the iPhone icon is 57x57 in size. The one used by a Retina display is 114x114.

How to disable Show Package Contents option?
One of the kids at the school I manage figured out how to unlock any program I've disabled via Workgroup Manager by editing a certain string in the info.plist file found within the packages of all applications. So I would like to remove the "Show Package Contents" option from the contextual menu in the Finder on all of the kids' machines. Is there perhaps some terminal command I could push out to the MacBooks via Apple Remote Desktop? Some hidden trick in Workgroup Manager? Any help is greatly appreciated!
Unfortunately, you can't remove it (However you could rename it to something else). Here is a workaround to your problem.
1. Make sure all applications you want to manage are in a folder that your users have read only access to (such as /Applications).
2. By default, any properly installed app will have permissions root:admin rwxrwxr-x. If not, make sure they do.
3. In the terminal cd into /Applications/___.app/Contents/MacOS
4. Run the command: sudo chmod o-r _____ (Fill in the blank with the name of the app without the .app extention).
Here is the logic behind this. As long as the apps are in a folder the users only have read access to, such as /Applications, the only way they can edit that info.plist file is to copy the app to their home directory and then edit it. You are now preventing this by taking away their read (and therefore copy) ability to the most important part of the application, the executable. Now they will still be able to execute the app but not read/copy it. If they try, they will need to provide an admin code. -
ERROR: "info.plist does not validate against DTD"

note: I am new here and knows that keep asking quesion without giving back is not good but I have a deadline here and wanted to finish the job. I will read some other post and try to help in return when I am able to do so.Hi pziecina,
Thanks for your reply,
I suspect my problem is the installation or setup of my system or software. as the result i tested is not by doing any scripting at all. All I did is following one of their example exactly (http://www.forum.nokia.com/Tools_Docs_and_Code/Tools/Runtimes/Web_Runtime/Dreamweaver_Exte nsion/QuickStart.xhtml) and package strightaway without modifying the code. because I want to make sure i got the extension install correctly. even so by packaging one of their ready make example already yield this error. -
Show Package Content option not available in Ctrl+click
Hi,
I just installed Mozilla's Thunderbird email SW (v. 1.5.0.5) and I'm trying to import the mail I had accumulated previously in Mail 2.1 (this is under OS X Tiger 10.4.7, sadly running on a pretty old G4 400 MHz, AGP Graphics). The instructions from Mozilla seem pretty simple:
<<How do I import e-mail messages from mail.app (MacOS X)?
Go to ~/Library/Mail/ and root out the .mbox files in the finder. These are actually OSX packages. Select Show Package Contents and a new window will open revealing several files including a file named mbox. Copy that file to the subfolder called Local Folders in the folder Mail in your profile folder and rename it to something meaningful. This process needs to be done for each of your mailboxes. Finally start Thunderbird to see the new mail folders.>
Well, I'm also a recent convert to OS X ('twas about time! I was still running OS 9.2.2 less than a month ago!), so I had never heard of "Show Package Contents". It seems that I should be able to see this in the contextual menu when I Ctrl+click (or right-click; I have a multi-button mouse) on the object (the *.mbox folder in this case). But my contextual menu has no such option.
Any ideas?
LouisHmm... They do look like folders, don't they? Perhaps they were thinking of an earlier release of OS X...
Anyway, what you describe is close but not exactly what I see. Let me describe to make sure the situation is clear: I am in home>Library>Mail>Mailboxes. Inside this, I have a set of *.mbox "folders", each of which contains only two items: an "info.plist" file and a "Messages" folder. The "Messages" folders (within each *.mbox folder) contain individual messages with the .emlx extension.
So the *.mbox "folders" contain no mbox file that I can grab and move (and no index, content.index, of table of contents that you mention). Perhaps these are "hidden"? But I can't find an option anywhere to "Show hidden files".
Ideas?
Louis
