Hi ,
i downloaded 5 set of cd image from oracle site . During installation i choose basic setting then it asks for only 3 cd .
after completetion of inatallation i want to install oracle11gr2 on this .
during the package installation it is giviving message like -- Parent Package is not install .
how to know which RPM in which disc .
can i copy all rpm in one DVD and install from there .
i am new to linux .
suggest me .

SergioVERY NICE! I keep reading about "oracle validated" installation, but always in some generic sense. This is the first I've seen it spelled out that it is a single yum download.
What version of oracle is this validated for? 10.x ? 11.x?
Now I can update/simplify the scripts I use for building vm machines in my personal sandbox.

Schedule a package install for offline macbook

New to ARD, but picking it up quick. Didn't find this question or answer in this community.
If I am managing a computer that is infrequently ON, how do I get the ARD admin to push the package when the target computer comes online?
Wanting to update the ARD client to 3.5.2. Because the remote computer is offline, I could not select Install, but only Save. Right now, I've got it setup as a: Install Packages, scheduled for 15 minutes from now, repeating every 30 minutes. BTW, the admin is running on my MBP, as I have not yet begun to understand the Task Server concept. Will my MBP continue attempting this after it goes to sleep?

The idea of a task server, is that you setup a 2nd computer with the same computer list, and instead of issuing the task to your computer, you issue it to the 2nd computer. (Witch has to be on using diffrent ARD SN Key.) The are many good reasons to do this.
For instance maybe you want to be able to put your computer to sleep. OR maybe you want to be able to issue other tasks and not have to wait while the large task is still running. Maybe you have a 2nd location, so it's better to send the file to 1 computer and have it distribute the file for you.
Personally I found most of my tasks sent from the 1st computer failed on the 2nd computer; I think this had to do with the computer lists on the 2nd computer not matching the 1st computer.
I found it easier to remote into the 2nd computer, and then manully use ARD on the 2nd computer to setup what ever task I wanted to do.
I couldn't find a way to make ARD issues tasks to off line computers. Instead I would issue the command to all computers, knowing some would fail. when the tasks completed, I would select the clients that the task had failed on, and then re-issue the command to just those cleints.
evetually this would get the failed computer down to a handful of computers. And then I would have to hunt down those computers.
if you issue a task to run on the MBP then yes it need to be on to run. If you issue a task to run from a diffrent compute runnning ARD; then your computer can be asleep.
If you have a large fleet of laptops you might want to look at a 3rd party solution. For instance JAMF, or Munki.

Unable to install hotfix package 2 for AppV 5 SP1 (KB2897087)

Good afternoon,
We've downloaded hotfix package 2 for AppV 5 SP1 (KB2897087) but when going to install we receive the message "The Application Virtualization update setup did not finish because the target version of App-V Server is not installed".
What we have installed on server is the following:
- Microsoft App-v Server 5.0.285.0
- Microsoft App-V Server 5.0.1104.0 Service Pack 1
So we have SP1 installed. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there another patch / update that needs to be applied first?

I can see it says BaselineNotDetected but also says the TargetBaselineVersion = 5.0.1104.0 which is what we already have installed?

Ideally, you should clone your HD as Bimmer 7 Series explains.
However, if your computer originally shipped with Lion or Mountain Lion, a clone is not necessary to merely reinstall OS X. OS X Internet Recovery will create a recovery partition, download the installer package, and install it on a completely empty SSD or HD.
Even if your computer shipped with Snow Leopard, it may be eligible to download a firmware update that creates the same ability: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4904

Microsoft Word Has Not Been Installed for the Current User

Hi, everybody
I'm just starting our attempt to put together ZfD app packages for MS Office 2007. I've tried 2 different route with poor results for each. I'm looking for guidance and suggestions and, hey really, the simple final solution. :)
Objectives: Each app package will install locally one of the Office apps (e.g., Word) if it is not installed and then launch it, otherwise it will launch it. It gets installed locally to the C: drive using all the MS default choices, but runs from the desktop ZEN/NAL shortcut. All desktops are XP, not Vista or W7.
Routes tried and failed...
1) Simple app, uses distribution and run scripts to figure out if already installed, then installs using network shared drive and config.xml file for just the one app. The result ought to work -- no particular error in the package, those are fixed -- but what happens is something different each time with the MS setup.exe, and it never does complete without its own error (various and different each time). So, this appears to be completely unreliable because launching MS's setup.exe from a simple app is unpredictable and incomplete.
2) Snapshot of a successful setup.exe and config.xml install. This ALMOST works... well it does in fact work but the snapshotted app gives an error once it finishes launching -- "Microsoft Word Has Not Been Installed for the Current User" -- and exits. From the research I've done on this message, the MS program sees the "wrong" Windows profile on the destination environment, compared to that in the snapshot, and figures it's now been installed from a bootleg copy of Office 2007.
At this stage all I can think of is expletives. We've paid for everything, I've followed all the usual and customary steps, played by the rules, been polite (and also used the necessary computer swear words), and now I just want to insult everyone in Microsoft's marketing department for ruining everyone's life yet again. Can't we just do this, is it too much to ask!?!
Please help me. What is really going to work for distributing and maintaining Office 2007 apps using our ZfD environment? ALL USEFUL SUGGESTIONS WELCOME. Thank you. Bless you.

Novell did not design Microsoft's Office Install.
I have nothing against snapshots, but it does not work great with the Office
installs, which you yourself know since you are posting here with problems
based on that.
And your other method you are trying with the break out is not working well.
We also know that from experience.
We can tell you that the way most people install it and the way most people
succeed doing it, is by doing it the way recommended and designed by
Microsoft.
ZEN does that just fine.

As per your question – follow this link http://www.adobe.com/products/adobe-media-server-family.html, download and install AMS Starter, then inside \tools\f4fpackager you’d find the F4F packager command-line application.

How to restore package contents for preview.app after Mac OS X Lion upgrade

since installing Mac OS X Lion I have been totally unable to run Preview.app. After having attempted to troubleshoot the problem I discovered that the package contents for the Preview application no longer existds on my hard drive. Does anyone know where I can obtain a another copy of the preview application? or how I might go about restoring the package contents for Preview in order to run Preview.app?

Use Pacifist to extract it from the InstallESD.dmg residing inside the Install Mac OS X Lion.app.

Support Package Manger for EBP/CRM cannot confirm SP ???, 'Package unknown'

I am installing CRM 5.0 SR1 (Windows 32bit/Oracle/NW04s).
I have imported SAP_BASIS SP07 and SP08:
'Queue SAPKB70007 - SAPKB70008 imported successfully according to Standard scen.: Confirm this',
but I cannot confirm (Support Package - Confirm is grayed out). If I start Support Package Manager for EBP/CRM SPAM, I get a window: 'Package is unknown'; after continuing I get an exception 'PATCH_NOT_SPECIFIED'. The status window in SPAM shows:
Software Component: ???
SPAM Status: yellow triangle
Next Action: Confirm

I ran into this issue. Upgraded spam from 38 to 42. When I go to env-EBp/CRM, the SPAM Package is unknown error came up
Resolution: go to support package -> import spam/saint update again. It tokk care of the issue. Contuniuing with upgrade.

How do I create a silent install for Adobe Robohelp 11.0? AAMEE fails

I have tried to create a silent install for Adobe Roboehelp 11 using AAMEE v. 3.1 but after inserting "product installation folder", "package name" and "save to" and choosing "next" the picture just greys out.
If if choose "next" again I get to the options page but it is empty.
I tried using an older version of AAMEE and here I can create an unserialized build but it wont accept the my license code (which works fine if I install manually)
Does anyone know how to solve this?
I am using Windows 7 Enterprise Edition 64 bit.

Hi Christian,
You have to use Creative cloud packager (CCP) to create the package for RoboHelp 11, AAMEE will not work for the latest version. CCP will be available in your LWS website(www.licensing.adobe.com) . Download CCP from LWS website and create a package for RH 11.
Please refer to the below link for more information of CCP:

Once you will reach "The Application and Updates screen " on CCP window then you have to click on "Add Offline Media" and select the "product installer folder" as RH 11 might not show in the list of products on that screen.
After creating the package:
Steps to follow to deploy silently on single machine:
1. Open CMD in Administrator mode.
2. Give the path till inside the build folder of the package. For Example if the build is saved on your Desktop the path in CMD should be as below:
C:\Users\[username]\Desktop\Packagefolder\packagename\Build>
3. Now type the following installation command: msiexec.exe /i packagename.msi /quiet
4. Launch Task Manager.
5.There will be three process of “msiexec.exe”
a) 6.One will be under System
b) 7.Other Two will be under [username].
8.Installation will be completed once both the process of msiexec.exe under the [username] are finished.
9.The installation process with take 5 to 10 minutes

Automatically upgrade a package installed after the bundle is assigned

Hi All,
I am trying out ZLM 7.3 and thanks also the helpful posts here I feel
quite confident with the tool.
Mirrored the channel, assigned the bundle and the catalog for the oss
packages and done, the installed package are upgraded with the patches
available with the bundle.
What I did not understand is the way to automatically upgrade a oss
package which is installed by YaST after the bundle is assigned. My
guess is, assign the catalog with patches to the device and whenever I
try to install a new package I automatically install the newest one. Is
this correct? Is there any other way to do this?

No driver package needs to be installed when using this kernel.
The oracleasm-support and oracleasmlib packages still need to be installed from ULN+

-oracleasm: is include in the kernel(kernel/drivers/block/oracleasm/oracleasm.ko)
-oracleasm-support: can be found on the install ISO or in Oracle Public Yum Server.
-oracleasmlib: ? not found in Oracle Public Yum Server! can be found only in ULN?
Question: Do we need it, rpm package oracleasmlib for install Oracle ASMLib?
I have add kernel module oracleasm (via modprobe) and install rpm oracleasm-support
(but without oracleasmlib) and it works !!??
..and I'm confused ???

Hi Partson,
It is needed to connect this system with solution manager and create stack.xml using
maintanance optimizer. The main aim of this is to let you know what usage types/ functionalities are to be
selected from stack.xml.
It is also needed to download all the required support packs/ addons using maintanance optimizer.
If you have DVDs containing the same product that matches with stack.xml, you can provide them.
But the safest way is is to give all the tasks to solution manager , It will create , and download neccesary sps, addons to your
download basket.
