Package installer that AAMEE creates fails to install

I've created two different installers using AAMEE, one with a few updates within it and one with just the main installation.  AAMEE creates both packages without any errors.
When I try to install either package, after the installer runs through some "Running package scripts..." for about a minute, I get an error message stating, "The installation failed. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I am financially impaired (nice way of saying "poor"), and cannot afford to purchase any more upgrades for my system or another version of InDesign.
I am sure there must be settings that will allow me to install the program, possibly with limited functionality due to this issue.  I am disabled and cannot work outside of my home. I was hoping to make a small income freelancing with this package, and InDesign is a crucial part of the package.

So I would have to uninstall Windows 7 Home Premium and reinstall it as 64-bit?  I'm trying to do this without having to reformat my computer.  Is there a way I could create a 64-bit partition on my secondary hard drive without reinstalling the OS?

  • Can I make an installer that already has certain addons installed?

    Hello,
I'm wondering if it's possible to create an installer for Firefox that I can use when I start to customize a new system to make the process faster and easier. Specifically, I'd like to know if it's possible to create an installer that automatically installs certain add ons and extensions with the regular install process of Firefox. Ideally, I'd like a single installer that will install Firefox, already containing Flash, AdBlock Plus, Personas, a persona, Unity, etc. Is there a way to do this, or do I have to install them all as separate instances? I want this because I do a lot of work on friends and family member's computers and I want to make the install process of the basic tools I use as painless and fast as possible. The package of tools would include a Firefox that has this collection of add ons, Daemon tools, 7zip, and other general utilities. If someone could offer some guidance on this, I would greatly appreciate it.

I believe you can do this with the Build your own browser program - https://byob.mozilla.com

  • Creating a silent installer using CVIRTE.msi fails to install CVIRTE.dll, MESA.dll etc.

I’m creating a silent installer for my LabWINDOWS CVI apps and I’m installing LabVIEW RTE 8.2.1 (for DataSockets) and CVI RTE 8.0.1.
If I use the self extracting *.zip files and manually install the above RTE’s everything is fine with no problems.  However I want to create an installer exe and install the RTE’s silently.  My problem is that when I execute the CVIRTE.msi (either silently or manually) the respective CVIRTE.dll, MESA.dll etc are not installed.
I’m expecting the CVI *.dll’s to be in the system dir – is this output path correct for the msi file?
I’ve also searched the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\... for the dll’s to no avail?
I’m I missing some other CVI msi file to execute in order to install the respecting dll’s?
    Notes:
I’m executing the msi file on a XP pro SP2 machine with Administrative rights.
I haven’t got around to installing and testing the lv82runtime.msi yet (LabVIEW RTE 8.2.1), which I need for DataSockets.  Can you pre-empt any issues, like the above, I may have regarding any respective dll’s etc for DataSockets?

  • Netinstall package installation fails

I've been struggling with Netinstall and Netrestore for a few days, and I'm hoping someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I'm trying to use a customized NetInstall image to install Snow Leopard and some additional software on client machines. The OS installs successfully, but it fails while installing one of the additional packages.
Here's my image creation workflow from Automator:
    1) Define image source (Snow Leopard retail DVD)
    2) Add Packages and Post-Install Scripts: Includes packages for Audacity (made with Package Maker), Microsoft Remote Desktop and Microsoft Office 2008
    3) Customize Package Selection: Using primarily to have the image skip the non-English language translations.
    4) Apply System Configuration Settings: Used to connect the computer to Active Directory, generate a unique computer name and change ByHost preferences. The installation doesn't seem to get to this point.
    5) Create Image
Automator says the workflow completed, and it does boot successfully from my 10.6.2 server.
The hangup seems to be happening when it installs Audacity. The only thing the install package does is put a folder in /Applications with a small number of files in it. The folder and files are created, but nothing after that point runs.
I saved the installation log, and I noticed something in the last few lines that seems to indicate that the Audacity package is the problem. Is there anything I can do that will make it continue beyond this point?

Yes, that's a tough one to get around. If you don't mind hacking SIU a little the best fix is to edit the script:
    /Applications/Server/System\ Image\ Utility.app/Contents/Library/Automator/Create\ Image.action/Contents/Resources/createNetRestore.sh
and change the line that reads:
    /usr/bin/hdiutil create "$destPath/System" -srcfolder "${sourceVol}" -uid 0 -gid 80 -mode 1775 -ov -puppetstrings || exit 1
    to:
    /usr/bin/hdiutil create "$destPath/System" -srcfolder "${sourceVol}" -fsargs "-c a=16384,c=8192,e=1280" -uid 0 -gid 80 -mode 1775 -ov -puppetstrings || exit 1
i.e. add '-fsargs "-c a=16384,c=8192,e=1280"' before the -uid

  • Yaourt fails to install *any* AUR package

Hello, I'm new to Arch, but since my problem is pretty much specific to yaourt/AUR I thought this would be the better place to ask around.
I tried to install a whole bunch of packages from the AUR repository, but almost all that I tried failed to install, mainly dependency errors far into or after the compiling process, one example - the game Go-Ollie wouldn't install because the Image Magick library wasn't found. However, Image Magick is installed, but there's no trace of it's library not in the AUR, nor the community repository. Same with A7XPG - failed to install because something was missing that I can't find anywhere. I am starting to get VERY frustrated. It looks like there are a ton of broken packages floating around in the AUR and there are a ton of programs missing that I'm used to having on the other distors (Ubuntu, Fedora, etc..) What am I missing here? Am I doing something wrong or is AUR/Yaourt really as messed up as it seems? A little help?
PS: Please be easy on me, I'm still a grass green noob after all

bloodyhell wrote:Got an off-topic question though - It came to my attention that the Arch install distro had a relatively easy albeit non-graphical installer. Why did the developers ditch this? I think I'll never understand the appeal of things being more complicated and/or inconvenient than they have to be.
The AIF was not ditched for any but the most simple reason: It was buggy as hell and the maintainer did not have the time to keep it going. It tried to do everything, to cover every scenario, but was ultimately a victim to its own complexity. The new installer is not more complicated, it is actually more simple. All you have to do is follow the readme step by step and make your own decisions in the process. I find pacstrap and arch-chroot to be more universal than the old AIF. Before the switch, creating an install script was a painful process of understanding the AIF and learning its syntax. Now we have these straight forward tools, so building your own install script is very easy. It also gives you a more in-depth knowledge of what's going on on your system.
The new installer also seems to be more friendly towards wifi users. Then you will never ever again have to deal with the situation, that the AIF somehow kicks you out of the process and then complains about an ongoing installation, without telling you where the lockfile is or how to fix this manually. In a menu, I always press down and enter to get to the next item. The AIF did half of this, it moved the cursor down to the next item automatically. In more than one occasion, I killed the installer with this and sometimes even had to redo the entire process (incl. downloading the packages), because bringing the installer back to a specific state was a painful act. I find the current solution more user friendly.
If you feel like Arch could need a menu driven installer, you are invited to create one, but all attempts to do this so far either drowned as quick as they had emerged or were rejected by the other users, because they were either too specific, too buggy or generally failed to add anything to the process, that the current install scripts have to offer.

  • Anyconnect 3.102026 failes to install - MAC

    System:  Macbook AIR, 10.8.2.
After an upgrade of the OSX to version 10.8.2,  the Cisco client fails to install. We receive an error message that the program failed to install. If i try to start the cisco anyconnect secure mobility client it says "No component loaded. Quitting application". Other applications installs without error on the computer.
The error message from the console-log says "Ask for assistance from the softwareproducer". Any idea what this could be?

Try downloading the package for new installs. the update package failed, but the new install package worked for me without any trouble.
    History:
I began this trouble shooting exercise by selecting Download Only through the Apple Update applet. Running the msi manually did not resolve the problem. In fact, it was more frustrating because the download package would disappear after running even though it failed, and I had to download it again. "Cleanup" I suppose. <frown>
I followed advice to remove the Apple Software Update program, reboot and re-run the msi. That did not resolve the failure.
I then followed advice to set permissions for Administrators on registry key HKLM\Software\Micorosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Com ponents
then reboot and run the update msi again. This also did not resolve the failure.
I downloaded the installer from the Apple download site as though it were a fresh install, and - voila! - it installed correctly and all content and settings were preserved. Hopefully that is all that is needed, not the steps above. Let me know! http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

  • Application Manager failed to install message

I'm upgrading from PS CS6 to PS CC. When I begin the download process, I get an error message saying that App Manager failed to install. When I start the download I briefly get a message saying that the installer had a problem because another instance of App Manager was already running. That message disappears almost immediately and the install proceeds. The progress bar gets about 1/2 way done when the error message appears. I rebooted my machine (HP, quad core, 8 gig, Windows 7, running with admin privelages) just in case a stray app was running, but I continue to get this error message each time I try to install CC. PS CS6 works fine as does LR 5.

I have solved my problem, but the solution was considerably easier than the one detailed in the above referenced posting. I was surprised at the number of people expressing similar issues as mine, but no obvious easy answer was ever offered. When I didn't get any response to my forum posting, I decided to do some searching on my own. When i looked at the system requitements for downloading and installing  this app, I noticed a brief statement saying that when you install a single application, like PS CC, the process should first install CC Desktop. The note stated that you could install it separately from the downloads.  However, if it doesn't already exist on the system, the application will install it itselft. This did not happen when I attempted to install PS CC. The installer did try to install Application Manager (not CC Desktop) and it ran into the problems I mentioned in my oriiginal posting. So, I went back to the downloads section and manually installed CC Desktop. Once it was installed (more about problems encountered with this installation below) I was able to install PS CC from the desktop application just fine. I repeated this process on my laptop, ran into the same issues, and resolved them by first manually installing CC Desktop. PS CC now runs fine on both systems.
Installing CC Desktop had its own challenges. when I first tried to install it, the process proceeded for about 5 minutes, the porgress bar got about 1/2 way done and then I got a message saying that the installation failed and that I needed to first close all browsers. And then the installation quit. OK.Not sure why the installer couldn't have detected that the browser was open and instruct me to close it before continuing the installation process, but it didn't. It just failed. I closed my browser (IE 9), and tried again. This time I got a message saying that the installation failed because it needed admin privileges, this despite the fact that I'm the sole admiin on my machines. I tried one more time. This time I right clicked on the installation app and chose "Run as Administrator" and sure enough, the installation proceeded just fine. This seemed redunandant as I was already logged in as an admin, but no matter, it worked and now am successfully running PS CC.
This has been a very strange experience. I have been used to enjoying rock solid installations on all of my Adobe products. This time, however, the process was ridiculously convoluted and obtuse. Clearly the developers need to revisit this and try to fix the problem as it seems to be fairly common. Obviously I don't know if my work around is specific to my circumstances or represents a design flaw. Either way it was no where near as easy as it should have been.
On the flip side, once I got CC Desktop installed, I have been quite impressed w/ the one-stop shopping I enjoy for installing and upgrading my products. The application suggested I needed to upgrade my copy of PS CS6, which I did and that upgrade went flawlessly. So, once the installation hassles get resolved, I do think this is good way to manage my Adobe applications.

  • Can't reinstall CS3.  "All Components Fail to Install"

I had been running CS3 on Windows Vista 32. First received, out of the blue, the dreaded error that licensing had stopped working.  Was not able to rectify by the long list of ususual means.  Finally was instructed by adobe tech support to uninstall CS3 and reinstall.  Uninstall apparently successful (confirmed with Microsoft Fixit Tool that did find and fix some registry errors).  Can't reinstall CS3 either from DVD or from desktop.  Receive status report after install script finishes:  "All Components Failed to Install."  I have spent over 23 hours on this problem to no avail.  PLEASE HELP!

Thanks for the reply, but I did all that already.  After much research and seeing what's worked for others, below is a rundown of what I've already tried...  (much of my process below came from http://na-na-sa-ra.blogspot.com/2008/06/how-to-re-install-adobe-cs3-after.html which I too had found and had hoped would help.)
After attempting to uninstall CS3 from the control panel, I ran the Adobe CS3-5 cleaner, numerous times selecting various listed options during the script run.  After running each time, I ran the MS Fixit tool (http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall) that reportedly will "fix problems with programs that can't be installed or uninstalled".   After each run of the MS Fixit tool, I attempted to reinstall CS3 - the install script would run for a good long while, showing (slow) progression of a status bar, but in the end give a status report saying that all components failed to install.  Even though complete installation failed, Adobe CS3 would be on the list of programs in the control panel, so I would repeat an "uninstall" from the the control panel, and rerun the MS Fixit tool.  Sometimes the MS Fixit tool would find/correct problems, othertimes it would report that no problems were found.  I repeated this procedure for all the options given in the CS Cleaner Tool script without success.  Thinking it might be a problem with attempting to install from the DVD (which has never been a problem before), it was suggested to try installation from the desktop (copied all DVD files to a desktop folder).  Repeated the entire above process using the "desktop files" instead of the DVD.  No luck.  (...and phoning Adobe tech support was not productive - they sent me here to the forums.)
Really appreciate you trying to help.  Have any other suggestions?

  • Failed install of PSE 10 - Shared Technologies failed to install

I have a legal copy of PSE 10 that I am trying to re-install on Win7. It fails and rolls back with the error that "Shared Technologies" failed to install.
I have tried several of the options in these forums. I need a solution please.

When I first tried to install, I was using my disks. I have since downloaded the software from Adobe (in case it was different) and that is what I have been using since I first posed my question.
By "clean slate", I mean, can you tell me how to clean up whatever temporary files/registry/other entries that are causing the install to fail?
I just tried downloading and running the AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool, and just tried the installer again with the same "fail/rollback" problem.
