There is a pitfall using smart objects if you create templates and use replace content to to replace the embedded object to create a picture package for other images. For it to work well the replacement object need to be the same size as the original object. All the smart object layers in a picture package share a common single smart object. Each smart object layer has an associated transform which is not replaced or changed when you replace the embedded smart object content. If the replacement object size is not the same as the original image the associated transforms may produce something you not expecting....

If you are using windows and perpetual CS6 version not the subscription CS6 version you can install the CS5 optional Plug-in and get Picture Package working.    CS6 subscription version removed some Plug-in support that is used by the CS5 Pictture Package plug-in.    Mac users can not use Picture package in any version of CS6. The CS5 Mac picture package plug-in is a 32bit Plug-in and CS6 is 64bit only.
Window and Mac users can use Contact Sheet II however IMO its nothing like a Picture Package feature.    I have made available a Photo Collage Toolkit for Photoshop. In it there is a script PasteImageRoll that is more like a Picture Package function for a single tile size Picture Package then Contact Sheet II. I also modified my Batch collage script to populate a collage template using a single image file for all image location. So you can Populate a template of your design as a Picture Package.

Note: My batch script was written to populate collages its operation will be much slower then Photoshop old Picture Package plug-in. The script will save layered PSD files which can tweak before you print.   Paste Image Roll script requires no template and just creates a new document which it tiles your images into. It does not save or print it just creates a layer document which can tweak and print. You can also Flatten and save an image file.

What can you use instead of picture package in photoshop cs6. You cannot import it anymore to make pictures. I do not want to print one at a time.

I think the Bridge Output Module comes as standard with CS6, but I might be wrong. Even if you have CC, you can download the Output Module.

Printing with CS6 Beta on Epson 2880 ?

I'm having the same problem printing with CS6 Beta that I have with CS5 (but not with CS4): the colors are grayer than appear on my calibrated MacBook Pro screen. A difference with CS6 Beta is a redder red, but stil the same grayed out colors.
I've coordinated all the settings in CS, have an up to date printer driver, but the problem occurs regardless of the settings (ex. various printer profiles). I'm wasting a lot of ink and paper.
Hoped this would be fixed in CS6 Beta.
Any solutions?

If unchecking the scene-referred profiles box clears the display problem in Photoshop, you most likely have hit a known bug with defective monitor profiling packages building defective monitor profiles that affect Photoshop and After Effects — specifically, the defective profile is erroneously marked as "scene referred."
Version 4 ICC Profiles: If your are using v4 printing profiles, try Googling for more information...some symptoms of this bug are Photoshop prints a light cyan or blue in the page white areas. The Fix is to use Version 2 printer profiles.
there is another old known issue that has to do with trying to Hard Proof simulate press conditions (printing cyan in whites) but i am not sure what you are trying and i can't recall it right now

Printing in CS6 comes out darker

Printing in CS6 is inferior to printing in CS when compared to my monitor. CS6 is too dark.
How come? Will this be corrected?

So just spoken to Epson support and got this reply. I find it very strange that it's a 'physical' issue:

Problem printing from cs6 photoshop to epson stylus pro 4800 printer

Has anyone had trouble printing from cs6 on a mac running lion to a epson stylus pro 4800 printer? I keep getting an error message saying "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents."" The computer sees the printer just fine and has the latest driver installed. I have removed it and reinstalled it many times . I need help with this.

Yes, the menu items are not unavailable. We were already aware of the "Reveal Arrow" issue under OSX v10.5.3. The most important print menu items such as "Print Settings" and "Color Management" are simply not present. As previously stated we've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest (v3.66) "Universal" print driver on both hosts and all of our client Macs. A resolution to this problem is very urgent as our semester begins this week and currently students can not print their next week assignments.

Crash when trying to print in cs6 photoshop extended

I need to troubleshoot printing in cs6 photoshop extended. I have printed a lot but it started crashing yesterday. Toshiba - All-In-One 16gb 64 bit Windows 7 home premium. video driver is up to date. I have uninstalled/reinstalled.

Elements 8 package printing

Just loaded new Elements 8 on
Widows running XP.
Go to print and select printer, Printer settings, advanced settings correct for Kodak 1400 8.5x14 paper, Paper
Size to 8.5x14, Select type of prints set to Picture package. Select layout only offers A4 (2) 2L; A4 (10) 55x91; A4 (2) 100x148; and A4 (1) 89x127, (16) 17x24 and (4) 38x52.
How do I get the normal package prints i.e. (2) 5x7's; (4) 4x5's; (2) 4x5's and (4) wallets etc.?
I've used Photoshop for years and never run into this issue.
In addition, only in Elements 8, when I go to the simple Individual prints, it will not show me the layout with mulituple copies of the same image and will not let show me layout (using (4) 4x5's as an example) with 2 copies of one image and 1 of each of the other 3.
I have used Elements 4, 5, and 6 with no problems like this.
Help!!!!

I use a Kodak 1400 dye-sub printer. I am currently using PS Elements 6 with
absolutely no issues. The layouts are in inches, there are package prints
for (4) 4x5's, (2) 5.7's, (2) 4x5's plus (4) wallets. All is good as I have
geared my packages I offer around these standard packages.
All I get with PS 8 is no package prints combinations except A4 etc.

Deploying a trial package of photoshop CS6 32bit with AAMEE ?

Hi,
I was trying to deploy a trial package for photoshop CS6 32bit using AAMEE. the process was successfully done.
but the installation rolls back automatically after a few minutes
I should mention that I created the 64bit package without a problem and it worked perfectly but the same method for 32bit was unsuccessful.
I tried to read the log file but nothing specific was logged there related to this issue.
please help me understand and fix this problem.

We have an applescript that will batch print InDesign CS6 files from a folder to a laser printer using an InDesign print preset. The script does not work in OS X Yosemite. The script errors out with the print preset. Any thoughts?

Print booklet CS6 - print presets missing

We have a problem using the print booklet feature in CS6. We can't choose print presets, resulting in low res PDF files and low res print work. How can we solve this problem?

You need to go to the print setup though the Print Booklet dialog, and then to the Adobe PDF driver setings and change the preset under the PDF Settings tab.

Lightroom 2.7 custom photo package printing

When I try to print a custom photo package (multiple 4x6 images) on 16x20 photo paper, the individual prints come out slilghtly different in size relative to the 4x6 format. I am using bordereless printing on a 16" roll (epson 7800) and I snap each pic to pic on the layout. The interior pics print 1/16"oversized of the 4x6 size, the edge pics print undersize by 1/8". When I reduce the number of pics on the layout and leave a gap between each pic on the layout the pics print all oversize by about an 1/8". The lightroom print controls; Photo Border is not checked, Inner Stroke is not checked, Zoom to fill is checked.
My question is- Can lightroom 2.7 print actual 4x6 prints using the custom photo package w/borderless printing? If I layout four 4x6 pics side by side so that the entire width of the 16" paper is used, can I get lightroom and my printer (epson7800) to actually print each borderless photo exactly 4" instead of oversizing the two inner pics and thus shortening the two edge pics due to the oversizing of the two inner pics? Am I missing an adjustment I need to make on the printer properties or the lightroom page setup? Thanks for any help.

Getting lines in prints Photoshop CS6

Hello,
I am getting lines in my prints from PhotoShop CS6.
My printer is the Canon MX522.
Ive noticed that printing from other *dumb* programs such as Microsoft Paint the images look fine BUT with photoshop the images print ultra fast and have lines. It looks like note taking paper. How do I fix this? I am guessing this is some kind of Printer quality setting????

Yes, it might make sense if the driver has different code paths for different print APIs, or if the driver has a bug in it's color management code, etc.
The application just sends an image and some metadata (color profile, placement within the printable area, etc.) - the driver then turns that image into commands for the printer.
And we have seen this sort of driver bug before, with a Canon printer IIRC.

App packaged with Flash CS6 windows installer can't be installed offline because of missing AIR RT

Hi all
I've build an Application in Flash CS6 and AIR SDK 3.5 for desktop and packaged it as a windows installer. When i try to install it on a windows 8 pro tablet with no internet connection (in my case an Acer Iconia w5) a window pops up, telling me that i need adobe air and i should download it at www.adobe.com/go/getair_de. I thought the AIR runtime is packaged inside the windows installer, so you don't need AIR preinstalled on your PC. I've added a screenshot of my setting:

I think what you're looking for is the captive runtime. For that you'll want to select "Application with runtime embedded". This does however mean that you'll need to use your own "installer". This could be as simple as zipping the folder up or just copying it over.
