Package printing in LR
I have made several templates for printing packages (same view per page). Excellent! Now I need to add copyrite and studio name to each print near the bottom right. Is this possible in Lr 1.2?
Hi john beardsworth,
There are people who have enough time to download, install and test LR 3 and other who don't. I was just suggesting to those who have enough time to have a look. After all, this a place for sharing, advising and suggesting. When it happens that I discover some workaround to a bug in LR, I usually take the time to publish it here. Today, it's not my turn.

Just loaded new Elements 8 on
Widows running XP.
Go to print and select printer, Printer settings, advanced settings correct for Kodak 1400 8.5x14 paper, Paper
Size to 8.5x14, Select type of prints set to Picture package. Select layout only offers A4 (2) 2L; A4 (10) 55x91; A4 (2) 100x148; and A4 (1) 89x127, (16) 17x24 and (4) 38x52.
How do I get the normal package prints i.e. (2) 5x7's; (4) 4x5's; (2) 4x5's and (4) wallets etc.?
I've used Photoshop for years and never run into this issue.
In addition, only in Elements 8, when I go to the simple Individual prints, it will not show me the layout with mulituple copies of the same image and will not let show me layout (using (4) 4x5's as an example) with 2 copies of one image and 1 of each of the other 3.
I have used Elements 4, 5, and 6 with no problems like this.
Help!!!!I use a Kodak 1400 dye-sub printer. I am currently using PS Elements 6 with
absolutely no issues. The layouts are in inches, there are package prints
for (4) 4x5's, (2) 5.7's, (2) 4x5's plus (4) wallets. All is good as I have
geared my packages I offer around these standard packages.
All I get with PS 8 is no package prints combinations except A4 etc.
Thanks for your imput.

Lightroom 2.7 custom photo package printing
When I try to print a custom photo package (multiple 4x6 images) on 16x20 photo paper, the individual prints come out slilghtly different in size relative to the 4x6 format. I am using bordereless printing on a 16" roll (epson 7800) and I snap each pic to pic on the layout. The interior pics print 1/16"oversized of the 4x6 size, the edge pics print undersize by 1/8". When I reduce the number of pics on the layout and leave a gap between each pic on the layout the pics print all oversize by about an 1/8". The lightroom print controls; Photo Border is not checked, Inner Stroke is not checked, Zoom to fill is checked.
My question is- Can lightroom 2.7 print actual 4x6 prints using the custom photo package w/borderless printing? If I layout four 4x6 pics side by side so that the entire width of the 16" paper is used, can I get lightroom and my printer (epson7800) to actually print each borderless photo exactly 4" instead of oversizing the two inner pics and thus shortening the two edge pics due to the oversizing of the two inner pics? Am I missing an adjustment I need to make on the printer properties or the lightroom page setup? Thanks for any help.You may need to download the package again.
Make sure that you have administrative rights/credentials on this computer. -
Elements 10- picture package printing menu
When normally printing a single image in Elements 10, I can now use the print flow on having Elements manage the color instead of the printer because my Epson R3000 has paper profiles. However, when attempting to print a picture package the menu choice of - printer or elements manages the color is not available. What's up? What is managing the color output. The "advanced" menu only offers one menu box without any info on the correct setting. Also, not sure how to configure the printer menus, which is a separate issue. Unlike, CS3, I also can't save the package as a photo document. Am I missing something? Why can't I manage the printing like a regular image file? Thanks
GregWhy not bring back the contact sheet II, picture package and web photo gallery back to the windows photoshop elements editor (where they used to be before the organizer) like the mac photoshop elements users have?

Custom package printing - photo border not printing
LR 3 on XP Pro, Epson 2400
I've created a custom print layout with 8 cells. The 'Photo Border' is ticked at 3.0pt and this shows up on layout.
When I print the page all the photos are borderless. Print to file shows no borders either.
Any clues as to why my borders aren't showing up ?
ThanksGeoff,
Thanks for reply. Are you sure you don't have 'inner stroke' ticked ? Your screenshot of Lightroom appears to show 2 borders, the white one and the dark coloured one. Your print from PS only shows the dark one.
I have an A3 page size with several cells. I have page colour of white ('Page Background Colour' unticked).
If I tick 'Photo Border' (and untick 'Inner stroke') then what I see on screen is each photo surrounded by a white border, with the border deliniated by a black line. When printing to paper or printing to file you cannot 'see' a border, because it's a white border on a white background. The black line that shows on screen doesn't print. If I overlap the photos I can clearly see a white border where one picture sits on top of another.
I am now presuming that the black line is only there to let you know there is a border you can't see and that it's not intended to print. Slightly counterintuative to me.
I suppose what I'm looking for is a frame rather than a border.
Actually now I think about it some more the black line I'm talking about is actually the bondary of the cell itself rather than anything to do with the border. -
PSE 10 or PSE 11 "picture package" printing options
My PSE 5 lets me print an 8 X 10 photo with choice of borders using the "print multiple photos" feature. Will either of these newer PSE versions also print an 8 X 10 as well? I downloaded the PSE 11 trial version, which seemed to allow only up to 5 X 7 prints. Aloha, Peter
I believe that was removed after photoshop elements 7.
Your on a windows operating system?
You can add a preset to get it back by makng a new text file in Notepad and typing in as below
I 8.00 10.00 0
Letter (1) 4 x 5
0.00 0.00 8.00 10.00
Then saving as
01.1_4x5_inches.txt
Then copy the txt file to:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements 11 Organizer\Assets\layouts (32 bit system)
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 11 Organizer\Assets\layouts (64 bit system)
That should give you something like this in pse 11 organizer -
I'm having issues printing PDF Packages.Clients have contacted us stating that our PDF Packages don't print properly. Essentially they were only able to print the "coversheet" and nothing else. I ran some test scenarios and noted that PDF Packages print feature behaved differently depending on several criterias:
how it was viewed (ie: desktop, Firefox browser, IE browser)
what Adobe Reader Plugin
what command was used to access print feature (ie: file>print, ctrl + P, print icon)
So far I've noticed that Adobe Reader utilizes two versions of the Print Dialog Box. The first one shows four choices for "Print Range" (All, Current View, Current Page, Pages...) seems to always be misconfigured and does not print as intended. The second one I've noticed seems to limit your Print Range choices (All, Current View) which usually works.
This seems to be an Adobe bug. This Print Bug exists on both Acrobat 8 and 9, and the bug may or may not exist depending on how you view the "PDF Package" (ie: Desktop, Firefox, IE).
If you open the PDF Package on your desktop and view via Adobe Reader for the most part it prints as expected for "Print Current Documents" or "Print All Documents". Although the "Print Range" is misaligned (ie: "Print All" behaves as "Current View", "Current View" behaves as "Current Page".
If you open the PDF Package on a browser with an Adobe Reader plugin, a different scenario occurs.
You might experience that you're locked into printing only the "coversheet" of the PDF Package.
And again your "Print Range" might be misaligned.
In Adobe Reader 8, a dropdown appeared when you selected "File>Print" or the "Print Icon". The dropdown then gave you an option to "Print Current Documents" or "Print All Documents". Which basically provided you an option to print the entire "PDF Package" or choose to print only a section of the "PDF Package".
In Adobe Reader 9, the option to choose between "Print Current Documents" or "Print All Documents" was removed.
In fact I started to document the instances to see if its an isolated issue and it looks like it fails to print (as intended) 60% of the time. Of the 40% that does print as intended... it looks like half the time the "Print Range" is misconfigured.
Also, I've noticed that Reader utilizes two different "Print Dialog" boxes.
The testing scenario I set up was that you can print in three different ways:
1. File>Print
2. <ctrl + P>
3. <print icon>
Three ways to view the PDF package:
1. Download PDF Package & view on your desktop via Adobe Reader
2. View PDF Package on Firefox w/ Adobe Reader plugin
3. View PDF Package on Internet Explored w/ Adobe Reader plugin
My computer is using:
XP Pro SP3, Acrobat Reader 9
I've also spot tested on:
XP Pro SP3, Acrobat Reader 8
Vista, Acrobat Reader 8
Any Ideas?Hi Greg,
Since this is sytem defined settings that you are trying to implement, I presume that the INI changes ought to be done in FSISYS.INI rather than the FSIUSER.INI.
Apart from that most of your INI changes look fine as we are also using pdf as our Output type. Please find the INI change swe have implemented in our system for printing pdf.

Packaging and Printing Industry
Hi,
I want to know under which industry category is "Packaging and Printing Industry" is it consumer product or what.
Regards,
Ahmed RoubyHello Ahmet,
if you focus on the packaging part, this would be part of mill products. There we cover all sorts of packaging, paper or foil-based (flexible) packaging, corrugated packaging and also glass, cans and others.
The printing is, as Kurt mentioned, Media-
Luckily there are good SAP partners that cover both packaging & printing - independent of SAP's internal industry assignment.

Hello all,
We are converting an SQLForms 3 application(SCO unix DB Server) to web application(10g AS Linux, 9i DB SUN Solaris,10g Forms).
We have to print a file stored in the AS/DB server in the local machine's printer.Searched a lot but in vain.
Can anyone suggest a solution..?
Thanks in advance..
JeneeshWhat i had tried, is just very simple,
1) create a java class, PrintWrapperjava.java as
package print;
import oracle.forms.ui.*;
import oracle.forms.properties.*;
import java.io.FileOutputStream;
public class PrintWrapperjava extends VBean
private static final ID FILECONTENTS = ID.registerProperty("FILECONTENTS");
private static final ID PRINTER = ID.registerProperty("PRINTER");
private static final ID PRINT = ID.registerProperty("PRINT");
private StringBuffer fileContents= new StringBuffer();;
private String printerName;
public boolean setProperty(ID id, Object value)
try
{ if (id == FILECONTENTS)
fileContents.append(value.toString());
System.out.println("File Contents : " + value.toString());
return true;
else if(id==PRINTER) {
System.out.println(" PRINTER : " + value.toString());
printerName = value.toString();
return true;
return super.setProperty(id, value);
catch (Exception e)
{ e.printStackTrace();
return false;
public Object getProperty(ID id) {
if (id == PRINT) {
try{
FileOutputStream printerOutput = new FileOutputStream(printerName);
byte[] toByteArray = fileContents.toString().getBytes();
printerOutput.write(toByteArray);
printerOutput.flush();
printerOutput.close();
fileContents = new StringBuffer();
return (Object) "Printing Success";
catch(Exception e) {
System.out.println("Exception has occured " + e.getMessage());
return (Object) "Printing Failure due to : "+ e.getMessage();
return super.getProperty(id);
2) Create a jar, and then sign it.
3) From forms,
you need to supply, the fileContents and the printerName, and Print, event will trigger the action.
like
1) create a bean area, set its impl class as print.PrintWrapperjava
2)
set_custom_property('BN_PRINT',1,'FILECONTENTS',v_file_contents);
set_custom_property('BN_PRINT',1,'PRINTER',v_share_printername_wrt_client);
v_msg := GET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('BN_PRINT',1,'PRINT');
message(v_msg);
message('');
This has lots of limitations.. but could serve as just a starting point.
All the best !!

How to Return List of Packages from Pacman/Yaourt Search
----EDIT----
Changed the name of the script from pacsearch to pacdot.
Apparently yaourt -Ssaq does this, so this script isn't as necessary as I thought. Although, I still find using pacdot -w to open the results in a text document helpful.
----/EDIT----
This isn't a question; it's a script I wrote. I thought someone else might find this useful.
I keep finding myself searching with pacman or yaourt and wishing I could get just the package names, not all of the extra stuff. For example, I'd love to be able to run yaourt -Sa $(yaourt -Ssa package). It doesn't seem like pacman and yaourt have an option for this (not that I can tell, at least), so I wrote a python script to do it. Copy it if you'd like. You can name it what you want, but I'll refer to it as pacdot.py.
pacdot.py package will be like yaourt -Ssa package but only list the package names.
I added a few extra options:
pacdot.py -o package will only list results from the official Arch repositories, not the AUR.
pacdot.py -i package will install all the found packages. If you've ever thought about running something like yaourt -Sa $(yaourt -Ssa package), that's what this command does.
pacdot.py -w package will:
Create a file called 'the-package-you-searched.txt',
Write an example command that would install the found packages,
(yaourt -Sa all-of-the-results),
Write each result on a new line, and
Open the file for you (with your default text editor).
Here's the code:
#!/bin/python3
import argparse
import re

Adding '-q' should help, grep to weed out false positives.
yaourt -Sa $(yaourt -Ssaq pulse)

Aperture version of a picture package
Would like to print four 4x5 or three 6x4 0n an 8.5 x11 sheet of paper. I have come from windows and Photoshop how can this be done in apertre
I don't do packages myself, but I've read about several users who do use the book function to do this.
If you create a book that has a "page" for each of your most common package configurations, it seems like most of the added complication would only hit you once. "Set it and forget it".
Once you have the book template designed, it's just a matter of laying out the photos on the specific page(s) you need for that order, and printing it out.
And the addition of custom page sizes for books in Aperture 2 means you ought to now be able to print a package print to any size paper you desire (not just the ones supported by Apple's system). That should be sufficiently flexible for you to do any layout you can dream up. -
Printing multiple images on a single sheet
Hi everyone.
I haven't been able to do this, nor find help about it. I need to print various images, each having its specific dimensions, onto a single 13 x 19 in sheet. The closest I've come to, was using the book module, dropping the images onto a single page with various image placeholders. But, in that case, I have not been able to fix the exact dimensions of each of these placeholders.
Thanks for any help.To the best of my knowledge there is no equivalent to the Photoshop "picture package" printing. I was hoping for this feature with 2.0, but alas it did not appear. In addition to the book layouts, you can try printing light tables. I have found that this works pretty well for photo montages. Some of the problems with using light tables for this type of work is that the user has almost no control over the light table size and shape (it is growing whenever you move an image close to the light table edge) and also the light table will not allow for more than one copy of an image (so the technique works for photo montages, but not picture packages). Just make sure you position the images such that the general shape of them together represents the paper shape (rectangular or square), then right-click on the light table background and select "minimize size" to get ride of the extra light table area in the periphery. Finally select File->Print Light Table. Once you pick the paper size, Aperture will resize the images as needed. Unfortunately, the user has no control over each image's size, only the image size relative to the paper and the other images on the light table. A kludgy solution, but it works for some applications.

Problem printing assembled forms
Hi,
I have 4 forms in the following sequence:
Form 1 - 8.5x11 - Duplex - 4 pages
Form 2 - 8.5x14 - Simplex - 1 page
Form 3 - 8.5x14 - Duplex - 2 pagres
Form 4 - 8.5x11 - Simplex - 1 page
I am assembling these forms using invokeDDX. When I print the merged/assembled output directly using generatePrintedOutput, this package prints perfectly.
Whereas when I print using generatePDFOutput, Form 3 starts printing on the backside of Form 2. Whereas Form 4 prints alright as a single page Simplex.
What might be going wrong? The DDX that I have simply takes the XDPs and generates merged XDP.
Please help.
Thanks,
PhoenixHello Phoenix_guru,
I came accross this discussion but found the answer sheet empty.I'd like little help from you regarding how did you actually embeded duplex and simplex properties to different forms.
I checked out the forms from workbench and in the designer (File-> FormProperties-> PDF Print Options-> select duplex mode). After saving and checking in and running the java code, the assembled PDF is still showing a property of Simplex. Could you please help me if you can, if there is any need to tweak java properties to set these printing options. I really appreciate your help.
Thanks
