Package search for multiple word string?

Ok, im feeling really dumb, but how do I search for packages using multiple words in a single string?  For example if I do the command "pacman -Ss session manager" it will return a huge list of all packages with the word session and all packages with the word manager, but what i really want to see is the smaller list of only the packages that contain the entire exact string session manager.

For me yaourt does the trick if you use ezzetabi's example ('session.*manager'). However, for 'session manager' only it doesn't.
You could try packer (in AUR). I just tried all three of them and packer seems to also look for the two words together only if you use '... ...' only.

  • Search for multiple words in a field?

    is there a way to search for multiple words in a field? for example, if i have a metadata field called NOTES that contains the string "Joe and Bob created this version on Sunday" is there a way to search for "Sunday, Joe, Bob" and have it return the asset?

    Search using the "Matches Word" option instead of "Contains". That will limit your results to only assets that have a field value that includes all three of those terms. If they are not all included in the same field value, it will not return a hit. So if "Sunday" were in Keywords and "Joe" & "Bob" are in Notes, you would not get a hit for that search with "Matches Word".
    "Contains" searches for the contiguous string in any field on the assets.
    Further, if you add your Notes field to the Metadata Group "Asset Filter", it will appear in your advanced search options, asset subscription filters, and search expired responses. Then you can specifically limit the search to that field and choose from "Matches Word', "Contains", and several other search filters. Note that when you use "Matches Word" this way, you need to eliminate spaces from your comma delimited list of words or you will not get the search hits you want.

  • Searching for multiple words

    Wanted to ask if you knew of a script I could use or any other way to search a document for any words or phrases that appear in a specific list and highlight the word or phrase if it appears in the Pages doc. I'm using Word 2008 on a Mac. For instance, my list could contain the words 'solicitor' or 'lawyer' but also the phrase 'employment unfair dismissal'. My list has about 100 words and phrases that I need to search for in each Pages document. Ideally the script or other method would highlight in the Pages doc any of the words or phrases I am searching for. Thanks, Dave.

    Hi,
    No. My list looks like this:
    Contact Law
    Solicitor
    Solicitors
    Lawyer
    Lawyers
    Legal advice
    Specialist solicitor
    Specialist solicitors
    Barrister
    Barristers
    Employment solicitor
    Employment solicitors
    Employment lawyer
    Employment lawyers
    Employment law
    Employment law solicitor
    Unfair dismissal
    Unfair dismissal claims
    Unfair dismissal claim
    Unfair dismissal solicitor
    Unfair dismissal solicitors
    Claim for unfair dismissal
    Claims for unfair dismissal
    Constructive dismissal
    Wrongful dismissal
    Wrongful dismissal claim
    Wrongful dismissal claims
    No win no fee employment law
    No win no fee employment lawyer
    No win no fee employment lawyers
    No-win, no-fee solicitor
    Plus maybe another 60 words or phrases. What I want to do is take the above list and check these words or phrases for how many times they appear in a Pages document. I can see how you can use the search feature in Pages for single words, but you can't put multiple words or phrases into the search field.
    Cheers,
    Dave.

  • How can I search for multiple words (not a phrase, but different words) all at once?

    Hello everyone,
    I have a job that includes looking for many different words in large paragraphs. I would make things much faster for me if - instead of typing in "word 1", and then clearing it, and then typing in "word 2" - but rather, I could somehow search for a few words at once. Is there a way to do this? An add-on? Something built in?
    Thanks for the help.

    Try this add-on [https://addons.mozilla.org/it/firefox/addon/find-all/ Find All]

  • How do I use domain guessing for single word but search for multiple?

    I would like to configure the search bar to make smart decisions about weather it should fill in an address or search for results. At the very least I would like it to be able to search when multiple words are entered but fill in the address when it's only one word (eg: typing "zelda" would take me to www.zelda.com but "the legend of zelda" would use search)

    The answer that you are probably looking for is what Google calls the '''I'm Feeling Lucky''' Search. Not quite what you describe but if there is one result that stands out as the most common result, you will get taken directly to the page. (Wouldn't work for me, I seldom find what I looking for in the first five hits.)
    This will involve a change to your '''about:config''' configuration variables.
    '''keyword.URL ''' default string
    http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=
    The '''&gfns=1''' is what gets you the I'm Feeling lucky search.

    For '''zelda''', I would type in the word and then use '''Ctrl+Enter''' so that it becomes www.zelda.com (with "Ctrl+Shift+Enter" gets .org, and with "Shift+Enter" gets .net).

    The '''AwesomeBar''' search is what you get in the location bar drop-down when you enter strings of characters that exist in the Title and/or url address of a previously visited site or one that you have in your bookmarks. You see those choices '''before''' you press "Enter".
    Once you press "Enter" by default you would do a search with your currently selected (default) search engine, as if you had entered the search into the search bar.
    I don't like the last method and would use a ''keyword shortcut'' to use a customized search or to go directly to a web page. But without knowledge of what is available using the Location bar to run an external search works okay for most people.

    The "weather" threw me because for weather you really do want a keyword shortcut, the word you meant was whether.

  • How do I search for a word through multiple files in my directories ??

    Hello everyone
    How do I search for a word through multiple files in my directories ??
    I am guessing one tedious way to do it would be to pass all the file names as command line arguments but I"m sure there exist a much easier and faster way to do it.
    Thanks a lot

    You need to pass only the directory name as parameter and then retrieve the files(recursively throug subdirs or not, however you wish) of that directory.
    There were at least 2 threads yesterday on how to retrieve files from directory, and there are many others in the archive so I leave the search part to you ;)

  • Tell me Logic for search for duplicate words(or strings) in a large file.

    Search for duplicate words (or strings) in a text file containing one word per line. For each word that occurs more than once in the flat file output should be as follows
    <word> <number of occurrences> <line numbers in the file where the word occurs>
    For example, if the word Hello occurs thrice in a file at lines 100, 178 and 3456 the output should read
    Hello, 3, [100, 178, 3456]

    Incidentally i wrote similar code some days back. You need to do some modifications to get the exact output you want, but i hope it will be of some help.
    One more thing its written using JAVA5
    public class Test
         private static final String COLLECTIONS_TEXT = "C:\\Documents and Settings\\amrainder\\Desktop\\Collections.txt";
         public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException

         private static void findDuplicateWords() throws IOException
              Collection<String> words = new LinkedHashSet<String>();
              File file = new File(COLLECTIONS_TEXT);

              int token = streamTokenizer.nextToken();
              while(token != StreamTokenizer.TT_EOF)
                   if(token == StreamTokenizer.TT_WORD)

  • Search for a word in a string.

    Hello everybody,
    Could anybody help me how to search for a word in a string ?
    Example: I have a string as below:
    String[] weather = {"snow", "rain", "sunny", "temperature", "storm", "freezing"};
    And I have a sentence like this:
    "Today is a sunny day"
    I want to break this sentence to pickup the word "sunny" and search this word in String[] weather to see if they match. How could i do that?
    Thank you very much. I really appreciate.

    1 iterate through the strings in your array.
    2. use String.indexOf(...) to test if the query string is present in the string

  • Multiple Word Strings Using C++ in Xcode 2.2

    This is my first post and I'm happily a new member and hopefully a helpful one as well. I took a C++ programming class in school, decided to use Xcode and start doing programming again. However, I have this issue:
    I'm trying to use a string to read me what I've entered for the name of a person, of course once there is a space, the name ends. Here is my code...
    int main()
    int loannumber;
    string name;
    cout << "May I have your loan number please? ";
    cin >> loannumber;
    cout << "Your loan number is " << loannumber << endl;
    cout << "May I have your name please? ";
    cin >> name;
    getline (cin, name);
    cout << "Hello " << name << ".\n";
    Whenever it asks me for the name, I put the first and last name and it will only read the last name back to me.
    How can I get multiple word strings in C++ code? Can someone help me?
    Thank you!!

    Hi--
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    You can do it if you rewrite your code something like this:
    #include <iostream>
    using namespace std;
    int main (int argc, char * const argv[]) {
    char ca[100];
    cout << "May I have your name please?\n";
    cin.getline(ca, 100);
    cout << "Hello " << ca << ".\n";
    return 0;
    }I got this tip from this page, which I found with a Google search. I really don't use C++, though, so I'm not exactly certain that's the "correct" way to go about doing this...

  • How to search for a word in a text editor

    Hi,
       I have created a custom container and added some text to it. Is there any method to search for words in this?

    Lilan,
    To search a character field for a particular pattern, use the SEARCH statement as follows:
    SEARCH <c> FOR <str> <options>.
    The statement searches the field <c> for <str> starting at position <n1>. If successful, the return code value of SY-SUBRC is set to 0 and SY-FDPOS is set to the offset of the string in the field <c>. Otherwise, SY-SUBRC is set to 4.
    The search string <str> can have one of the following forms.
    <str>
    Function
    <pattern>
    Searches for <pattern> (any sequence of characters). Trailing blanks are ignored.
    .<pattern>.
    Searches for <pattern>. Trailing blanks are not ignored.
    *<pattern>
    A word ending with <pattern> is sought.
    <pattern>*
    Searches for a word starting with <pattern>.
    Words are separated by blanks, commas, periods, semicolons, colons, question marks, exclamation marks, parentheses, slashes, plus signs, and equal signs.
    <option> in the SEARCH FOR statement can be any of the following:
    ABBREVIATED
    Searches the field <c> for a word containing the string in <str>. The characters can be separated by other characters. The first letter of the word and the string <str> must be the same.
    STARTING AT <n1>
    Searches the field <c> for <str> starting at position <n1>. The result SY-FDPOS refers to the offset relative to <n1> and not to the start of the field.
    ENDING AT <n2>
    Searches the field <c> for <str> up to position <n2>.
    AND MARK
    If the search string is found, all the characters in the search string (and all the characters in between when using ABBREVIATED) are converted to upper case.
    Pls. Mark

  • Searching for a word or phrase in a file on NSS Pool/Volume

    I have encountered a strange issue in that if I search for a word or phrase in a file at any level of the volume, from the root, down to sub folders, I get different results from 2 or more PC's.
    Workstations are all Win XP SP2, Novell Client 4.91 SP4 for Windows
    Server NW 6.5 SP6 with all post SP's installed.
    I have ran a nss /PoolRebuild=POOLNAME and a NSS /VisibilityRebuild=VOLNAME
    There is only one volume on this pool.
    And I still encounter the same results.
    As one example:
    On my Admin workstation When I search the top level Folder of Closed Client folders for the word chronology, I get 2 files returned named chronfile1 and chonfile2, when I search from any other workstation (I have tried 4 different workstations at this point) at the same folder level, for the same word Chronology, I get multiple files with the Word in the File, but I do not see files chronfile1 or chronfile2. Likewise, the file names returned form the search results on the other workstations, are not returned in the search list ran on the admin (Mine) workstation. And yes, I am logged in as admin on the other workstations when running the search.
    So far, this issue is only appearing on 1 volume.
    Thoughts?

    I'm assuming you are using the Windows desktop search tool?
    I ran a NSS /PoolRebuild last night which fixed an issue the workstations not being able to see the 2 files in question.
    Previous night I had just performed an NSS /PoolVerify.
    Part of the other anomoly, the other workstations seeing more files than the admin workstation (I feel so Stupid, after 25 years you think I'd be able to spot the obvious) the reason the other workstations were returning files that the Admin workstation was not - Admin workstation doesn't have Word Perfect installed.
    Somebody, give me a Gibbs head slap, now!

  • How to search for subset of string

    Hi,
    I'm trying to implement Oracle text in 8i and 9i to search for a given string or a subset of string.
    For example, if the given string="Database Technology", I would like intermedia to first search for the exact string - "Database Technology",
    if not found, then search for either "Database" or "Technology".
    I'm only able to search for the exact string ("Database Technology") so far by using the contain clause. I'm not able to get Oracle Text to return me any records that also contains "Database" or "Technology" if the exact match "Database Technology" cannot be located.
    Any help is very much appreciated.
    thanks.

    You need to use the ACCUM operator. It raises the score based on the the frequencies of more than one word. Here are the contents of my TEXT1 test table:
    TEXT
    database
    server
    database server
    database blah blah database
    database blah blah server
    select score(1), text1.* from text1 where contains(text,'database ACCUM server ACCUM database server',1) > 0 order by score(1) desc;
    and here are the results:
    SCORE(1) TEXT
    68 database server
    34 database blah blah server
    2 database blah blah database
    1 server
    1 database
    You may want to put a multiplier on the "database server" phrase's score to increase the score on when the complete phrase is found. That looks like this, for example:
    select score(1), text1.text from text1 where contains(text,'database ACCUM server ACCUM database server*3',1) > 0 order by score(1) desc

  • Search for multiple values

    Hello,
    I would like to search a table and find all values for each student that have a certain key word in the heading of a column and use all of the values found to calculate different averages.  Is this even possible?  Can i do a vlookup, or something like that, to search out many different values?
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/kiqwl2qg50u2ubz/6th%20Grade%20Math-2012-11-08%20%281%2 9.numbers
    Thanks!
    -Josh

    Josh,
    SUMIF will do the work for you, but the searching for a particular string in the title will have to be done in an auxiliary row, not in the SUMIF expressions.
    So, add a row above the row with the score titles; a new Row 1. In C1 write:
    =IFERROR(FIND("N2", C2), "")
    Fill Rignt
    Now you have a key. Every column with "N2" anywhere in it's row 2 cell will have a "1" in row 1.  You can use SUMIF, COUNTIF or AVERAGEIF to find those stats on a per-student basis. Your example file has only 2 columns with N2 in the score description, so the stats will be rather trivial for that particular set.
    There's another way you can use this key. You can create a second table that mirrors the first table, but has null strings in all columns without the key and the true values for all columns where the key is "1". That would look like this...
    This all seems a bit trivial, so I may be missing the point. It seems that you could just ignore the nonrelevant columns rather than go to the trouble of flagging them and filtering them out of the final table.

  • Search for a word in a sentence

    hi,
    Is there a function module which can search for a word in a sentence or string?
    thanks,
    raksha

    If String1 CP 'CNF# ' or String1 CP '# CNF' or String1 CP '*# CNF# *'.
    flag = 'True'.
    endif.
    CP (Contains Pattern):
    The complete string string1 matches the pattern.
    The pattern can contain ordinary characters and wildcards.
    '*' stands for any character string and '+' denotes any character.
    'ABCDE' CP 'CD' is true;
    'ABCDE' CP '*CD' is false;
    'ABCDE' CP '+CD' is true;
    'ABCDE' CP '+CD*' is false;
    'ABCDE' CP 'BD*' is true;
    The character '#' has a special meaning. It serves as an escape symbol and indicates that the very next character should be compared "exactly".

  • Cisco LMS - Check for multiple words?

    Can anyvbody help me out with a Cisco LMS query.
    I'm doing a complaince check for snmp-server location
    +snmp-server location [#.*#]
    But I assume as I've got mulitple words which may vary it shows as not present in the complaince check even though it's in the config.
    e.g. snmp-server location Martin's house in the middle of Scotland
    I think [#.*#] stands for a missing string but not for multiple words, can anyone help me out with what I could use for multiple words?
    Thanks in advance
    Martin

    I could solve the monitoring issue with snmp context configuration. I had to map each OSPF process to a snmp community. So i could retrieve data for each OPSF process. My issue now is how to add multiple communities to an LMS controlled device.
    As far as i know, LMS support only one RO community per device.
