2.1 is the version of APEX that is built into Oracle Express Edition (XE).
There are threads in this forums about upgrading it to version 2.2.1, but it is not supported and may not be a good idea.
However, the only thing preventing you from running the Bug Tracker on your version is the installation process.
Version 2.2.1 has a new application packager that lets you make a single install script that installs the application plus all supporting objects.
To install the Bug Tracker on XE I first installed it on a server running 2.2.1 - like apex.oracle.com.
Then I exported the application without its supporting objects.
Then I took the scripts that installed the database objects and images and made my own scripts from them.
Then I could run those scripts on XE and install the application.
To make it easier for others, I zipped up my scripts and put them here:

That should be easier than trying to upgrade your APEX version.

Package Application Incident Tracking Apex 4.2 Internet Explorer Issue

Frame Layout Question.
I have installed the packaged application Incident Tracking, however the rendering of the Content Frame Body Container region in Internet Explorer 8.0 and above does not render correctly. Both the width and the height of this region is sized too small.
It is the Cloud Apps theme on version Application Express 4.2.4.00.08. It works perfectly in Chrome, Firefox and Opera but I am restricted to Internet Explorer. It occurs on Page 50 of the Application 101 in the <div id="uFrameMain"> section it should expand to 100% width of the region but appears to be restricted to a layout of 437px x 363px where as in Chrome it 1428px x1270px. The problem is the region does not display its correct height or widtth, I would be really grateful if someone could help me to debug this.

Can one avoid names to be listed in packaged applications (issue tracker, for example)?

I've installed the packaged app "Issue tracker" in a workspace, but now have a problem with German's law (and maybe others), which does not allow people to make reports that explicitely mention names of employees, except if you are their manager.
So the issue tracker's reports, which can be used by anybody and display assignees' names, are not allowed by German's law !
I guess that all packaged apps have the same users control mechanism. If so, this issue is not specific to the issue tracker. Is that right?
To make the issue tracker compliant with German's law, one should be able to hide names or ideally to make them only visible by the employee's management.
Hide name would imply:
- Remove the updaters' name in the projects/issues
- Remove assignees' name in the projects/issues/reports
I guess this could be done via a plugin "display names" in the "build options".
Make names only visible to managers would imply:
- Assign a manager to each user
- Adapt the display depending on the identity of the user
Does this make sense? If so, I guess I should add an entry in Oracle Application Express Feature Requests, right?

Unfortunately the problem persists on OC4J904, so the alternative for you is to use OC4J902, you can setup a new container on a different port (other than used for 902) and register the provider using the direct URL of the OC4J902 container. This should solve the problem.

Package Apps Customer Tracking Modal Page how to pass parameter

On package application "Customer Tracking", there is good example about Modal Page. Quite simple but it work quite nicely.
The step to create this Modal Page:
- Create new region, set display poinrt: After Header and use region template: Modal Region and set the Static ID (eg. ActivityModal)
- Create the page item and put it on the above region (eyample: Name, Company etc.)
- Create a button, set the action to "Redirect to URL" and enter the URL target to: javascript:openModal('ActivityModal');
Now when you click on the button, the modal page will be display.
My question:
How can I pass a parameter to the modal page, example: I want to pass text 'Johnny' to the Name page item which is on the modal region.
Any idea ?

use the $s function right after. I used this to pass first name to the field.

Bug Tracker Packaged application installation Error.

I installed 11g (apex came with 11g) and 10g application server. Now, I am trying to install the bug tracker application that came on apex.oracle.com. I am getting this error right off the bat.

Where are image files (Bug Tracker Application)

I downloaded the Bug Tracker packaged application and in one of the list (Administration Tab), the list is presented with images. For example User Profiles item show the Image attribute as menu/user_red_32.gif
I want to know where this image is actually uploaded? I cannot see this particular image in the Shared Components/Images
What is "menu" in menu/user_red_32.gif

menu is a folder in your images directory. That's where we store many of the artwork we ship with Application Express. It's a physical folder on your harddisk if you're using Apache or it's a folder in XDB when using 11g.

CSS Bar Chart [Plug-in] in P-Track Packaged application

In the P-Track Packaged application we have CSS Bar Char Plugin REGION. If we change the theme of that application into the Theme 23, that plugin Region loses some CSS rules. In other words, it loses its beauty. Anyone knows how to get this plugin to work find on the Theme 23 ???

Cannot install Sample Master Detail (Packaged Application)

When trying to install the Sample Master Detail packaged application
on the new APEX.Oracle.com (running Application Express 4.2.0.00.22),
I'm getting an error.
After selecting it from the Packaged Applications page, and clicking the "Install Application" button
on the Application Builder/Packaged Applications/Sample Master Detail/Install screen,
I get the following:

I tried in a workspace that had some existing applications, and a colleague tried
in a new workspace that had just been allocated by APEX.Oracle.com.
I was able to successfully install the Sample Data Loading application after trying to install
the Sample Master Detail packaged application.
Anyone else having this issue?

APEX Packaged Applications

I am looking for a "FREE" Packaged Application that performs the following...
-> Software Project Management.
-> Task Manager
-> Project Time Sheets.
-> Bug Tracking or Issue Tracker
-> Discussion Forum
-> Content Management or Document Library
APEX has all but not consolidated into one app. Has anyone already attempted to consolidate them all into one comprehensive application?
Is there any recommended "open source" application that does the same?

The responses on this thread has sincerely exceeded my expectations.
The consolidation of all the apps is what I was looking for.
Are you still, actually using the consolidated APEX Software project, task, and event APEX app? Or have you settled on a different open source software package or low cost project tracker like "Jira".
My preference is to adhere to a best practice, already proven, consolidated Project mgmt, incident and time tracking product. Howeve, if you are actually using the consolidated APEX approach and you really recommend it. I will go that route as well.
The end result is that I need one consolidated solution, self contained in one database and something that is quick to market (internal use only) and easy to use. If putting all the APEX app pieces together works well and if you currently are using this and recommend it. I'll do it too. Thanks for your responses to-date. I sincere appreciate the effort and recommendations.

Install Package Application

Hi,
Does anyone knows how to install the package applicaiton downloaded from from apex home page.
I tried to install bug tracker and timesheet application but i am not able to import from application express's import application feature i get page not found error after clicking on import after selecting timesheets_installer_1.0.sql.
Then i tried to install from sql prompt after logining to schema(timesheet) assigned to "time" workspace. it worked fine and i can see all the pages. but when i try to run any page i get error cannot parse as EBA schema.
In other package application also i am getting the error.

Scott, I did export these application from any workspace. these application are available on oracle website to download and install.
my apex version is Application Express 3.0.0.00.20 on 10g database.
As said i am not able to do import using apex but if i run that sql on sql prompt after connecting to the same schema it runs sucessfully. But if i try to run the application pages it gives errors.

Hilary - I asked our DBA to open a SR, the number is SR 3-6553142501 : Unable to install packaged applications in Oracle Apex
Looks like apex.oracle.com has been upgraded to 4.2.1. When did this happen?
I am almost positive that I was able to install packaged apps on apex.oracle.com even when it was on 4.2.0.00.27 (same as the publicly available version) but not on my instance. But now since the versions are different, the support person is pointing to the different versions as a cause! This is what I was afraid of. To be honest, given that I was getting the error on my instance but not on apex.oracle.com, even when both systems (mine and apex.oracle.com) was on the same version of APEX, I am not very hopeful that the 4.2.1 patch will fix my situation since the root cause has not been identified. I just don't want to wait for 4.2.1 to be released, apply it and find out that the issue is still there. Can you share the list of bugs fixed in 4.2.1 to see if any of them may apply to this situation?
Any other ideas? What diagnostics can I provide to help you get to the bottom of this? Frankly, Oracle Support, as I found in the past, is not very well qualified to resolve APEX-related SRs. Can you please assist or direct Support appropriately? Thanks, appreciate your help.
Since I have the Builder app installed in my instance, I inspected the final page of the packaged app install wizard (4000:83) to see what APIs it uses and ran it manually as SYSTEM. This is what I get. Does that help narrow down the issue?

Consulting Bug tracking: Why an Oracle support agreement is needed?

Hi all,
I don't really understand why anybody could not access to the Jdev bug tracking? An important part of them are detected by anonymous users who have no agreement. Moreover, Jdev is a free tool until developed app is put in production, and bugs are mainly detected during development phase.

yes JDeveloper is a free product, but customer support services isn't - its a service that you will have to pay for.
Usually, If there is a bug report posted on this forum we do our best to track this down (and I am spending quite some time with this) and log it if it reproduces. However, the differentiation to customer support service comes when it doesn't reproduce immediately which requires in depth analysis of the problem or complex set-up. This is beyond of what we can handle on OTN.
We discussed the option of a public application to report issues and track them. However, i am not sure what the current state of thsi project is.
As a remark from my side, from 10 questions I ask users who report bugs on OTN to send me a testcase based on teh HR schema, I usually get 3 replies. So even a public bug application is a give and take. Not sure if this was your intention.

Cannot complete action when trying to Activate Bug Tracking Modules

I am trying to activate the Bug Tracking Modules feature on a site, and the error message is: Cannot Complete Action.
I have been able to Activate this feature earlier on my site and they still work.
I can activate the Bug Tracking List Instances, but not the modules.
I run WSS30/MOSS with service pack 1
