Packages in Software Center

I am starting to test software center and when I publish Packages I do not get the option for Categories or the option to choose if it requires Approval or not.
Is this possible or to get those features do you have to create applications?

How can you building and application tell it to import reg keys or set reg keys?  I do this now via the package and batch file to import the reg keys.
Same way. There's nothing really different about a deployment type from this perspective -- it's a command-line which can be a batch file.
Also how can you or can you tell an application before it installs it needs to uninstall something first? Example I want when Office 2013 is installed with lync 2013 to uninstall Lync 2010?
That depends upon the application itself. In this case, you should be able to use Office setup as it will automatically uninstall previous versions of Office apps.

  • Software center permissions error, SCCM 2012

I'm getting a strange error in the software center.  The applications and packages deploy without any problems but users receive an error when trying to install the application or package through software center.  They receive the error "Insufficient
Permissions for Software Installation" and "Your IT department has set restrictions for this software that prevent it from installing on your computer".  I have attached the screenshot.  We are running SCCM 2012 on Server 2008 R2 with SQL Server
2008 R2 on a separate server.  If this is something that is configured on the server I don't remember ever doing it but I can't find that error anywhere on Google so I'm kind of at a loss for the moment.  Again, any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Oddly encountering this error as well on an HP MT41 with EWF turned on. Under the local Administrator account.

EDIT: Found this in the SCCM Documentation Library doc file (Feb 1, 2013).
Why do I see an error message about insufficient permissions from a Windows Embedded device when I try to install software from Software Center?
You can install applications only when the write filter on the Windows Embedded device is disabled. If you try to install an application on a Windows Embedded device that has write filters enabled, you see an error message that you have insufficient
permissions to install the application and the installation fails.

  • Available Package Deployments not showing in Software Center of Domain Controller Clients

  • Software center dont show the package(not applications) on the client as installed when logging in with other User ID.

It is showing as Installed in software center with user ID through which it is actually installed but not from other User ID's.
Please send me suggestions or how we can resolve this issue.

Software center might not show it if there are multiple users logged in. It will only be shown to the
user that got the highest (lowest? Can't remember it) session id.

  • 0x87D01280 "Virtual application is currently in use" error when uninstall App-V Office 2013 in Software Center

Getting the above error message when attempting to uninstall Office 2013 App-V version (downloaded using ODT) in Software Center. There are no office 2013 or App-V processes showing as running in Task Manager. Nothing in event viewer to show what is running
either. Any idea on what could be running and holding the uninstall from completing?

    Hello,
These issues are caused if the virtual package is used during the attempt to uninstall.
SFTMIME is a legacy command-line interface for App-V 4.6, not supported for usage with App-V 5 (which is the only version that supports Office 2013).
App-V 5.0 SP2 has introduced the ability to divert required actions to next logoff / reboot depending on publishing, if the package is in use.

  • Getting "Error: 0x80070654" when trying to install SCCM 2012 R2 Console from Software Center

    What I did:
Created a Package Source share on the Site Server
Gave the Package Source Share the following Share permissions: SCCM Admins: Full Control, Domain Computers: Full Control, Local Admins: Full Control.
Copied the "Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\tools\ConsoleSetup" folder to my package source (Since the Package Source is actually on the site server, I just copied the ConsoleSetup folder to it that is on the same drive)
Created a package and a Standard Program
    Command line: ConsoleSetup.exe
I deploy it to my collection
Run Machine Policy and Reevaluation on my Right Click Tools
Go to one of my clients and open up Software Center and click the Install button
    It fails with ""Error: 0x80070654"
I open up execmgr.log on the client using CMTrace and I use the error lookup tool and it shows that the 0x80070654 error is "This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer
    package"
I also see a red highlighted line in the execmgr.log file with the following entry: "Script for Package:PRI00013, Program: SCCM 2012 R2 Management Console failed with exit code 2147944020"
I can run ConsoleSetup.exe using a command line to the package source.

    Cool, mate it is then.
Yeah it either changed or there is a typo.
I re-created everything and I still get that same 0x80070654 error.

  • How to clear/reset "Installed Software" in Software Center?

    Hello!
I've done a big mistake with my application objects!
I did have two applications in SCCM 2012 with the same MSI-installation package. The reason for this is because i would like to have one that is deployed as Required (with primary device) and one that is deployed as Available for those without primary device.
Then I decided to only keep the available deployment, so i deleted the required appilcation entierly from SCCM.
Not so wise because now all the required installations is stucked in Software Center, at the "Installed Software"-tab. And there is noway to remove it.
So my question is, is there someway to reset or clear the information from software center? Or any other sulotion to my problem? :)
    Best regards,
    Johan Lång

It seems like it has removed the entries from the software client automatically now. But I still got problem with the main source of the problem. That I cant push out updates via software center.
Let me explain the main problem.
I had app1 as a MSI, and two application objects (AO). One AO as required and one as available, but the same MSI.
After a while I got an integration-application between app1 and another program, as a MSI so i decided to put that as a dependency to app1, but also pushed it out to all users as a required deployment, because it would not install it otherwise, if not the user
did an uninstall and then a fresh install of app1.
And for a couple of weeks ago I got my eyes on "automatically update any superseeded applications" while deploying. So i decided to use that with one AO instead of two (required/available). In the same time an update came to app1, lets call it
    app1.1.
This was a perfect time to try my new discover and disabled app1 and superseeded it with app1.1 with a available deployment, with a dependency of the integration-application.
But the clients could not be updated automatically and when the user tried to update it manually via application catalog it get stucked at the last step "evaluate" before it jumps over to Software Center. And nothing else happen. Until it crasches
and warn about "it could not be evaluated" in the application catalog. Sometimes it pops up anyway in software center but it wont continue to install, and if you try to manually start the installation it get stucked at the status "Waiting"
    and nothing happens.
If I login with another user I can start the installation manually and it works fine.
If I uninstall the sccm-client and install it back again, the "installed software" will be cleared and I can start the installations manually, so it pops up under "installed software" again. Without any problems.
It also worked to install if i removed the dependency of the integration-application.
So my guess is that something is getting corrupted in the user profile, but I cant find any files regarding sccm in there exept the log file for software center.
I hope you understand abit of what i try to explain :) Sorry for bad grammar!
    Regards,
    Johan

  • Applications not visible in Software Center

    Hello Guys,
some Clients have Problems to show Application Deployments in Software Center. In Deployment Monitoring Tool I can see the Deployments. But if you select the Deployment I get the Error "DT cannot be empty". So I think the
    Policy isn't downloaded correctly.

  • SCCM 2012 Client Software Center - no items found.

    hi there,
we are using software center as self-service portal for users and it's working quite good!
unfortunely i software center displays "no items found" on a specific computer, though the pc is in the correct collection.
i have re-installed sccm client, repaired wmi repository and also re-imported the machine into sccm 2012 but still no luck.
anyone can point me on a possible solution?
    thank you!

    Hello
we had exactly the same behavior. The Software Center shows everytime "No items found". After further tests we found that we could see applications in the Software Center, but still no packages.
After one day struggle we found the issue/solution. It seems that is not a bug, it is a feature....
Situation: Another user was logged in. It seems that the Software Center will only display packages for the first/default logged on user.
Solution: Make sure the previous user logs off completely (not just disconnected) and there are no users logged on to the machine before another user logs on.
The Applications do not have this restriction and will be displayed for all users logged on to the machine
    Hope this helps

  • SCCM 2012 R2 - Software Center bug with publishing date ("available after")

    Hello everyone,
we are using SCCM 2012 R2 together with Software Center to allow users the installation of +100 different software packages.
This works out quite well; but some packages have always the date 10.04.1998 as publishing date, no matter if i have set a publishing date manually or not.
    here is a screenshot:
this bug occurs with new packages i have created and also with old ones. i have changed the publishing date manually and also redistributed them to the distribution point but this did not change anything.
Anyone encountered the same error or knows how to fix it? It is not critical but really annoying...

Redistributing it to DPs isn't needed as the publishing date has nothing to do with source files. It's just a matter of policies though. Does the data change if you select Notepad++ for example and then highlight TeamViewer 9 again?

  • Software Center Question

We can advertise any .MSI to "all systems" and workstations can see them in the Software Center.  But when any Package (.exe) is advertised to all systems no one can see it in Software Center.  is that by design?  how do you see
    packages in the software center?
    mqh7

Take a look at this link for a good explanation of what shows in software center and when:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2012/03/31/introducing-the-application-catalog-and-software-center-in-system-center-2012-configuration-manager.aspx
It comes down to what you are deploying and what type of deployment.  Also look at user experience settings on the program.

  • Software Center "reinstall" option

I deployed two items - an Application and a Package to my test client.
After successful install I noticed that the PACKAGE has an option for REINSTALL but the APPLICATION only has an option for UNINSTALL (greyed out if the deployment is mandatory).
Does this sound correct, by design and match the experience of others?
What if I wanted to do an MSI Repair of the application but cannot do an Uninstall / Reinstall via software center because it is greyed out - I assume the using Add Remove programs is the suggested approach?

Thanks Jeff, that is what I figured - thanks for the second set of eyes.
The only issue is with packages you can do a reinstall in case the package becomes corrupt since there is a reinstall option.  With an application there is no reinstall option so one must go to AR Programs and select "repair" or "uninstall
/ reinstall" and that requires admin rights (our users are not local admins).
    Regardless, thanks for the confirmation.

  • Software Center Uninstall visible when no program specified

Question on application uninstalls via SW center:
When no uninstall exists for an application (such as a Bios update) , we do not specify an uninstall program.
We would anticipate the uninstall button be greyed out when no program is specified for an uninstall, but this is not the behavior we see (R2Cu1).Rather, we see a uninstall button that simply produces an error.
Jorgen's answer to a similar thread seem to indicate that not specifying an uninstall program will eliminate the uninstall button, are we experiencing a bug or did I misread his answer?
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/026f6b65-318d-4e4e-a188-7d5fa151cbba/software-center-disable-uninstall?forum=configmanagerapps
    Thoughts?
    Will

    Hi,
I Just did a quick test with R2/CU3 and deployed Orca as available, without an uninstall command and after the installation the uninstall button was greyed out, after that I added an uninstall command and did a refresh machine policy and the uninstall
    button is back..
then removed the uninstall command and did a Machine Policy refresh and application deployment evaluation cycle, could be that it wasn't needed and I didn't wait long enough....
So it seems like it still works that way..
Are you using Packages/programs or Applications? I tested it with applications, package program I do not think it will work this way but you will alwasy have the uninstall button..

    Jörgen

  • Unable to advertise software application via Software Center

I have an issue of advertising my software application via software center. I doesn't matter if I set it to deploy as Required or Available, the deployment just could not get to install to my targeted machine or appear in my Software Center. In the
deployment status, it also shows No Status even I have targeted since last week and the targeted machine is always connected.
I have viewed the execmgr.log, but could not find the package id in the log. Could it be stuck somewhere that could cause it unable to complete the process of advertising it to the targeted machine, whether it is via Required or Available deployment?
I am however able to deploy old/new the patch updates deployment and able to install the software package to my DP. However im still able to get OLD deployment of software apps or TS but not
NEW deployment of any software apps or TS since the last 2 weeks. I am also able to mplist and mpcert from the targeted machine to my MP, so meaning it could communicate to get policies.
Im stuck now. Any other logs in particular that could help me right now to determine the root cause?

I don't understand why it keeps on saying "based on package DE4001C2". I don't have any package with this package ID.... Not sure why I am seeing this in my logs.
