-Packing materials
-Materials to be packed
-Text items
-Subordinate packing instructions
-Rules concerning rounding, minimum quantities, and so on
-Definition of a check profile
And so on

Lg Gen - HU Mgmt - Aut. Packing - Determination of Packaging Instructions
1. Define pr. for Packing Instruction Determination
Pack in Shipping Procedure 000001
Cond Type: SHIP
2. Define Determination type for Packing Instruction
Cond Type SHIP
Acc Seq SHIP
3. Check which table access seq hits
Eg Material/Ship to party
4. Maintain a condition record using POF1 for Determination Type SHIP
The Packing Instruction should get determined.

Settings for packing instruction

Dear SAP GURU'S,
I am facing with one problem which i would like you all to give me a solution.
I have created the packaging material with material type LIEH, and other material which i would like to pack with material type Trading goods HAWA. and i want to do the returnable packaging. I have created the sales order with order type as OR. and created the delivery but when i try to the packaging it is saying that no packing instruction found for the material.
Please can anybody tell me how to do the settings for packing instruction. I have read all the previous postings where i have found that someboody has done the configuring in POP1 and POF1 or POP2 can anybody tell me what are those things. please.
this are the initial thing where i got stuck up then later comes the part of LA and LN order types.
please solve this problem

Hi,
As long as the material master is maintained well, you can manually pack without packing instruction. For the material master, I'd like to give an example.
Example: to pack a computer in a box.
1. create material master for computer
2. create packaging material master for box
3. assign the packaging material master (box) to the material master (computer)

Packing Instruction with Handling Unit

Hi all
We are currently using packing instruction functionality in SAP and we need to pack the product in different boxes based upon the ordered quantity. for example, on the packing instruction, we have 3 boxes (3 different packaging materials to handle different quantities). I am using min qty function as well.
Box 1 Qty >1 - QTY <12
Box 2 Qty >12 - Qty <25
Box 3 Qty > 26
Now if the order qty is 30, then I would ideally like the box 3 to be chosen automatically for packing, and if it is 15, then I would like box 2 to be chosen automatically.
System does not seem to have any logic to do the calculation above. If I am missing something, please advise. I have already tried alternate packing instruction function but that also does not choose the box size for us automatically.

If you want to introduce some custom packing instructions you can implement BADI BADI_HU_AUTOPACK.
In method METHOD_PROPOSAL you can pack your materials as you want - based on different conditions.

Packing proposal & packing instruction

Hi Guru's,
what is difference between packing proposal & packing instruction? Is it necessary to mention packing instruction in packing proposal? can we create nested HU in packing instuction ? If yes, could u pls. elaborate step on this .
Is it necessary to define packing procedure(access sequence) for packing proposal?
how can I link this procedure for packaging materail & material to be pack?
Pls. proved step on above query.

The proposal can be made even without the instructions. But it does help automate the process.
The packing proposal can be made manually when processing a handling unit. If an instruction is maintained, the proposal gets created automatically.
You can create a packing proposal using TCode POP1.
Subordinate packing instructions can be used to create instructions for nested packing elements.
Please go through the documentation, you will get a clearer idea.

Infoobject packing instructions from SAP

Hello,
I'd like to load the packing instructions. In SAP ERP in transaction POP1-3 known as packaging instructions. Does anyone has an idea how to load this data into BI / BW. Is there a standard or a generic datasource or something else.
Possibly there is someone who has implement something like that.
The aim is to show the packing id to the material and the packaging quanity in one table side by side in a query.

Hello AP, The BOM has already been created .But is there any method in particular in PS to add attributes to the Items and finally autogenerate the Final Packing List for Shipping to customer.

Packing instruction determination

Hi!
Could anyone please tell me the ways to do packing in SD?
I set the Packing Material & Finished Good's Material Master's Packing related information and then create in DN, and do packing, I could create Handling Units.
And the handling units split is do according to the Allowed Weight I set in the Material Master.
Then I wonder what is the use of Packing Instructions (POP1) and also the Packing Determination (POF1)?
Where in the Customizing control which Packing Determination Procedure is using?
And if a Packing Instruction is found, then how the system control the Handling Unit split? By the Packing Instruction or by the "Allowed Weight" information in Material Master?

here are several ways in which you can access the packing transaction. The transaction is integrated in delivery, goods receipt, shipping, repetitive manufacturing and discrete production.
Features
In the packing transaction, you can:
     Create HU proposals (automatically from packing instructions or manually by entering items). You create an HU proposal manually if you do not want to pack according to packing instructions. You build a hierarchy of load carrier, auxiliary packing materials, if required, and the materials to be packed. For more information, see
Hierarchical Display in the Packing Transaction.
     Select alternative packing instructions on which to base HU proposals
     Delete HU proposals (that is, unpack materials)
     Unpack nested HU proposals
     Repack unpacked materials and unpacked HU proposals
     Check HU proposals. To do this, the system simulates handling unit creation. The system cannot create handling units from HU proposals with the status "Faulty".
     Display handling units that the system is going to create from the proposals
     Recalculate weights and volumes of a handling unit. This is important if the measurements in the proposal have been modified manually in the packing transaction and now have to be reset to the values from the packing instruction or material master
     Create handling units
The Level 1 field in the table specifies the number of HUs on the highest packing level that are being created from the HU proposal. The system marks with an asterisk the items that are assigned to this HU proposal, that is, are either used on the highest packing level (packaging materials) or are packed on the highest level (packed goods or sub-HU).
If the item is a load carrier, the field Level 2 specifies the number of subordinate HUs on the second packing level, per main HU. For all other item categories, the system uses an asterisk to show which items are packed in or on the load carrier of this subordinate HU.
All further packing levels are displayed in the same way.

I have a material that is to be packed in an envelope if one piece is shipped.
If however 10 pieces are to be shipped, the material should be packed directly into a carton (without passing by the envelope).
How can I implement this kind of scales using automatic packaging with packing instructions? I only see the possibility of creating packing hierarchies but no scaling.

HU question: Packing instruction expansion

Hello,
I have one HU question.
For an Inbound delivery I created automatic packing (with POP1 and POF1) with 2 level packing (palett and box on the palett).
The problem is if I receipt a Purchase Order with 2 Materials, one palett can contain the 2 Material, I explain with an example:
Material A => packaging = 1 palett with 10 Box and each box is 2 kg => palett = 20 kgs
Material B => packaging = 1 palett with 10 Box and each box is 2 kg => palett = 20 kgs
I receipt the goods on the same purchase order:
14 kgs of material A and 10 kgs of Material B
And the packing automation is done in the inbound delivery and the result is:
Palett 1 with
Material A: 7 Boxs of 2 kgs
Material B: 3 Boxs of 2 kgs
Palett 2 with:
Material B: 2 Boxs of 2 kgs
And I don't want on the first palett the mix between the 2 Material, I would like this packing:
Palett 1 with
Material A: 7 Boxs of 2 kgs
Palett 2 with:
Material B: 5 Boxs of 2 kgs
Manually I know how separate for each material but not with the automatic packing.
I tried to change the custo: transaction OVHU2, profile inbound delivery with putting 'Start automatically' flagged (in Packing instruction expansion) but it doesn't work.

Hi,
you can try creating another packing instruction with your 1st level packing as subordinate packing instruction (with item category I) and the 2nd level packaging material with P item cat in POP1.You can also maintain the no of handling units to be packed in the 2nd HU.
This can be repeated for multilevel packing

How to handle empty boxes to fill a pallet layer in Packing Instructions

Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to automatically add empty boxes in an outbound delivery of finished goods when the delivery is complete.
e.g. In the packing Instructions I have the following
1 Pallet
12 boxes of finished goods ( 4 boxes per layer on the pallet )
My delivery consists of 9 boxes on 1 pallet there I will need to add 3 empty boxes to create a complete layer on the pallet.
I would like the system to automatically add the 3 boxes, not manually add them.

Standard BW Datasource for Packing Instructions

Hi BW Experts,
Are there any Standard BW Datasources for Packing Instructions.
The Packing Instructions data mainly resides in PACKPO, PACKKP, PACKKPS tables in SAP.
If there are no Standard extractors or Data Sources , what are the options of extracting this data from SAP into BI.
I got to know there a few extract views, how do we use them.

Hi Daniel,
I don't think you will find Business Content for those tables. That leaves you with the option to create a Generic DataSource yourself (t/code RSO2). Here you can use a table or a view as source.

Material as a Component in Packing Instructions

Hi Friends,
I would like to understand the real need of entering Material Code which has to be packed (Item cateogry -> M) in the packing instructions (POP1), along with the packing materials (Item Cateogry -> P).
As we are already assigning the packing instruction number in POF1 against the material.
Can anyone please advise on the same.

look up www.tidestone.com, they had an MS Excel lib you could get for java. It is not free and they also just sold to another company. See if they still offer it.

Call transaction for pop2.need to create packing instructions for materials

while assigning packing instruction to the materials from table mara.
its unable to create a new line item in the screen. ex: only 8 records are saved
but needs to proceed for other materials increasing the line item no.
options of create new material ( ok code'=INLI', , create new entry('=INMA')
and even tried for page down option '=P++'. is not working.
Can anyone help me in creating more than 100 line items.
