Thanks For your inputs.
During my testing of automatic packing, I have noted the below option in SPRO
SPRO-Logistics-Handling Unit Management-Automatic Packing-Maintain Packing Transaction Profile.
Packing process is responded according to the setup in the Outbound packing transaction profile (0002). Now I have doubt that, where this profile has been linked to my packing process and how does it controls the packing.
I already check the delivery type & delivery item category. I can't fine.
Please help me clarify this...

You are confusing one for the other. You have probably heard of AWR requiring the Diagnostics Pack and wonder what the pack can do in 9i if AWR is not available in 9i.
Usage of AWR and related features available from 10g requires the Diagnostics Pack. However, usage of the SQL Advisors requires the Tuning Pack.
The two are separate packs. These are products from the Oracle Enterprise Manager stack.
Tuning Pack and Diagnostics Packs have been available in 8i as well.
So, you can purchase these packs in 8i, 9i, 10g, 11g . If you have purchased them and paid annual support fees, you can upgrade them.
What you can do with the packs may well vary in each version. Thus, AWR is not available in 9i and below.

Current Service Pack/Fix Pack of Xcelsius 2008?

I have Xcelsius Version 5.1.2 (build 12.1.2.439) installed on a server.
When I click "Manage Add-Ons" I get a C++ run time error.
On another server I have 5.0.0.99 (build 12.1.0.247). That version seems to allow me to manage add-ons.
What service pack/fix pack do I need to install on top of 5.1.2 to allow me to manage add-ons?

Hi Marv,
If you are on Windows Vista you need to disable UAC...
Also Xcelsius 2008 SP2 is now out so I'd upgrade to that and try again...

Pack HUs - pack a single BUNDLE over multiple BOX

Hi gurus,
In our actual model, we pack each SHU separately in a box package, or as multi level packing we pack multiple SHU in a single box package. We would now be interested to achieve a model with a single SHU packed over multiple box package, i.e. illustrated as follow:

The combine files feature isn't available when you're using Reader for iOS. However, you can log on to the web interface at Adobe Acrobat.com using your Adobe ID and credentials, and use the Combine Files feature there.

Where I find Management Pack / Tuning Pack / Diagnostics Pack for 10g ?

There's no 1:1 relationship between the old and the new features. Mainly under the Performance tab you will find the features now. Out-of-the-box there are a lot of alerts active (disk and CPU utilization, tablespace getting full, bad SQL statements ...), these are shown automatically for a specific target, when a certain metric has reached. You can customize pre-configured alerts and also create new ones.
I recommend you see the gridcontrol documentation for more informations.

Diagnostic pack, Tuning pack are not in OEM 10g, Add partition to a table

I have 2 questions:
Q.1: In Oracle 9i Oracle Enterprise Manager java console, we had "Diagnostic Pack" and "Tuning Pack" which helped us seeing performance tuning info (session's statistics such as cpu time, pga memory, physical disk reads, etc.) and privded help for sql tuning and performance improvements. But in 10g, the same product (Oracle Enterprise Manager java console) does not include these 2 packs, due to which we are unable to monitor and control performance tuning information/statistics. Now my question is, do we need to install these 2 packs separately in 10g? if yes, where can we get them? (I am sure in 9i, these packages came with OEM console and we didnt need to get them separately)
Q.2: I have a partitioned table having 5 partitions based on range partitioning. Now our requirements have changed and we need to insert values beyong the 5th partition, so we need a 6th partition. Can someone tell me the command to add a new partition to the table? I tried "Alter table xxx add partition yyy ....", but it didn't work. If any one can me the correct syntax, it will be great.

OP is talking about java-based EM, not web-based DBConsole. In fact he/she has to change to DBConsole, because 10g java EM doesn't longer support these tuning features.
Alter table ... partition syntax depends on the kind of partitioning, see the documentation:

Sequence for Updates (Service Pack / Fix Pack)

Hello everybody.
I'm a bit confused about the update strategy.
Until now I was convinced that the strategy for the updates is or should be like this:
Service Pack 1 --> Fix Pack 1.1 --> Fix Pack 1.2 --> ... --> Fix Pack 1.x
Service Pack 2 --> Fix Pack 2.1 --> Fix Pack 2.2 --> ... --> Fix Pack 2.x
Service Pack 3 --> Fix Pack 3.1 ...
and so on, and so on.
There shouldn't be possible to install, e.g a Fix Pack 2.1 after the Service Pack 3 is installed.
But because of an problem with the connection server under Windows 2003 I'm not that sure anymore.
The story in short:
We've got installed the Service Pack 4 on the Enterprise.
After a few Windows updates the connection server didn't start anymore.
In the forum some say that this issue is fixed with the Fix Pack 3.6.
So first I wondered why the issue occurs on a system with a higher patch.
But the I've seen in the SAP Service Marketplace that the Fix Pack 3.6 is released after the Service Pack 4. Does this mean it is "more up to date"?
Is my image of the update sequence incorrect?

PS: My connection service problem was solved by uninstalling the windows update KB2509553 and a restart of the system.

the explanation of this is the following:
At some point they start with the development of SP4. Lets say they start the dev. of SP4 during the release SP3 FP3.5. So all fixes after FP3.5 wont get packed into SP4. Thats why FP3.6 will fix a bug which SP4 wont. With the release of FP4.1 this fix from FP3.6 will be packaged aswell into FP4.1

New install - Do I install all Service Packs & Fix Packs

Hi.
I just installed Engage 2008 to replace my 4.5 version. I see there is 1 service pack and 3 fix pack versions available. Should I be installing all 4 of these or just the service pack and the most recent fix pack? Please advise.

Hi Janice,
First, check your help / about in Xcelsius 2008. What is the build number? Depending on what it ends with will help determine what route to take.
-If it ends in 121, then run the Service Pack 1 installer. The installer will replace your existing install with Service Pack 1, which will then yield the build number ending in 247. From here you can install Fix Pack 1.
-If it ends in 247, then you can just go ahead and install Fix Pack1.
In both cases, after Fix Pack 1 is installed, the end result should yield build version 12,1,1,344.

The parameter "control_management_pack_access" have to be set on "DIAGNOSTIC+TUNING".
In that case you activate functions of the Diagnostic and Tuning Pack. After, you can use it !

Packing proposal & packing instruction

Hi Guru's,
what is difference between packing proposal & packing instruction? Is it necessary to mention packing instruction in packing proposal? can we create nested HU in packing instuction ? If yes, could u pls. elaborate step on this .
Is it necessary to define packing procedure(access sequence) for packing proposal?
how can I link this procedure for packaging materail & material to be pack?
Pls. proved step on above query.

The proposal can be made even without the instructions. But it does help automate the process.
The packing proposal can be made manually when processing a handling unit. If an instruction is maintained, the proposal gets created automatically.
You can create a packing proposal using TCode POP1.
Subordinate packing instructions can be used to create instructions for nested packing elements.
Please go through the documentation, you will get a clearer idea.

Material M1 (have two packing instructions)
Packing instruction 1
Pack Material CARTON1- 1PC , Material M1 1000 Pcs

At sales order I need to propose either of two packing instructions for a material. When I create SO, system always takes Packing instruction2 automatically and ignores packing instruction 1. How can i propose either of two packing instructions?
2) I have M1 & M2 together have 750 pcs each, how
I need t o pack together. How this can be proposed automatically by the system?. For certain materials I can be packed together and certain materials cannot. Can we define in system this reqmt, pls?

Automatic Packing

Hi,
We want to set automatic packing of finished material in following way-
200pcs of finished material be packed in 1 tray, for 201 pcs,system should propose 2nd tray automatically.
For automatic packing, We have created determination record(POF1/2/3), packing instruction (POP1),packing procedure,packing profile,our main difficulty is that we could not establish the link to connect packing proposal to sales order /delivery note.How this can be done?

Ensure the following for automatic packing
- Have you assigned the Material Group: Packaging Materials for your FG material in the material master in the basic data1?
- Have ur item category marked as relevant for packing?
- Have your maintained all settings for the packing mateial proposal like Handling unit number ranges,Define Packaging Material Types,Define Material Group for Packaging Materials,Define Allowed Packaging Materials?

To trigger output from Handling Unit please see the following configuration settings:
1) SPRO > Logistics Execution > Shipping > Basic Shipping Functions > Output Control > Output Determination > Maintain Output Determination for Handling Units
Here maintain all necessary configuration based on business requirement.
For triggering output at time of Goods Issue, first define proper Condition Table then define Access Sequence with reference to table and set Requirement field accordingly. Within Maintain Output Type assign the Access Sequence to the Output Type you are using. Finally, maintain & assign Output Determination Procedures.
2) Inventory will get updated at time of Post Goods Issue at HU level, partial and complete quantities are supported.
A. Posting Goods Issues for the Complete Quantity:
Choose Logistics > Production > Production Control > Goods Movements > Material Staging > Goods Issue with HU
Logistics > Central Functions > Handling Unit Management > Goods Movement for Handling Units > Goods Issue for Work Order
Logistics > Material Management > Inventory Management > Goods Movement > Goods Movement for Handling Units > Goods Issue for Work Order
Enter the order number and choose Propose HU.
To post complete goods issues, choose <save>.
B. Posting Partial Goods Issues:
Choose Logistics > Production > Production Control > Goods Movements > Material Staging > Goods Issue with HU
Logistics > Central Functions > Handling Unit Management > Goods Movement for Handling Units > Goods Issue for Work Order
Logistics > Material Management > Inventory Management > Goods Movement > Goods Movement for Handling Units > Goods Issue for Work Order
Select a HU and choose box icon.
Change the quantity and choose <green check>.
To change another item, continue as in step 3.
To post the goods issues, choose <save>.
3) You can decide per plant and order type whether partial goods issues are allowed. The setting in Customizing:Logistics General > Handling Unit Management > Basics > Production > Production Supply > Set partial GI Indicator.
