Pacman doesn't seem to connect
I am trying Arch 0.6 since it now has proxy support. I've run into a big problem here, though.
I added the following lines to pacman.conf:
ProxyServer = proxy.gcc.edu
ProxyPort = 8080
When I try "pacman -Sy" I get a few lines that look like
current [ ] -2147483648%| OK| 0.0K/s| 0
and then something like
could not extract audiofile-0.2.5-1/desc: Invalid argument
Did I forget something or enter something wrong?
Any help is appreciated
Edit: I have an nforce motheboard, could this be related to the forcedeth driver
I can ping outside servers, only pacman seems to not work
Ok some question....
You say your network connection is working.
Is this the first time you run pacman??
Did you try to ping any of the server in /etc/pacman.conf??
If yes try to connect to one of them by ftp an see if it work.
Check also pacman log file it should be in
/var/log/pacman.log
If ther is no file add the following to you /etc/pacman.conf
LogFile = /var/log/pacman.log

EUREKA, I found the solution to my problem in a Discussion initiated by gingertodd on July 27, 2011 entitled "Safari in Lion hijacked by malware." The solution was provided by Badunit who recommended force quitting Safari and then reopening it while holding down the Shift key. It worked instantly, and I subsequently was able to open Safari normally by just clicking on its icon in the Dock. THANK YOU BADUNIT!

Hi! Has anybody succeeded in using Presonus Audio box 22 vsl with Os Mountain Lion? They doesn´t seem to connect.
No problems when i used with Snow Leopard. I upgraded: Now Kreonika is not happy. Not happy at all!In cases like this, if you have an Apple store near by, they will most likely install the OS free of charge for you, if you can't bring your Apple ID along to prove you've paid for it.
Would that work out for you? -
My iPad mini doesn't seem to connect on the pc. Every time I try to connect it my iPad always say that it's not charging.. What should I do to be able to connect it. Please help as I'm a new user.thnx
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. When I tried to order large batch of photos in iPhoto - it seemed to get stuck halfway through. I hit "cancel". When I tried to "buy" photos again... it never seemed to connect. Did I lose my order? Is it half-uploaded somewhere and I need to "resume" upload? Or do I need to start all over again with the order?
You might want to download something called an undelete utility. These can find files and recover them even after they appear to have been lost. There are some undelete utility programs that are free. Look at tucows.com
Also, it appears that you have POSSIBLY overwritten the actual files, which you moved manually, with I don't know what, which you moved in PSE's folder location view.
Next, in the future ... NEVER (that's: don't even think about it) move your photos in Windows. NEVER. NEVER. Not ever. Not once. This always (that's ALWAYS, as in 100% of the time) causes problems and usually makes things difficult to fix.
Lastly ... make regular backups! I must say this in the forums about seventy bazillion times a month. Make regular backups! Regular depends on how often you take photographs and edit them. Since my photographic activity usually happens on the weekends, I make backups every Sunday night. You may need a different schedule, depending on your activity level. MAKE REGULAR BACKUPS! -
My Apple TV 3 doesn't seem to connect to iTunes after I recognised it was in 'Recovery Mode'
The status light was flashing quickly and I recognised it was in 'Recovery Mode' My laptop doesn't even seem to recognise it - any help (iTunes - 12.0.1.26) (Apple TV 3 - 7.0 [I Think])
The problem has been fixed, my MicroUSB had a faulty terminal thanks for trying to help though

Icon to connect to AV unit has disappeared - now won't connect itunes to my home theatre system.
Please keep the latest drivers for the network adapter, you can browser the manufacture website for the latest driver.
If you've already have the latest drivers, I suggest you remove all existing network profile including the issued one, then recreate the network connection, check this issue again.

What is an air port?
An Airport Ida place where planes land. It's also Apples name for its modems and routers.
Are you asking about AirPrint? What is your specific question? -
My aluminum remote does not appear to connect with the Apple TV receiver; I've changed the battery. I can turn on the Apple TV and the opening screen comes up, but the remote doesn't seem to connect...no cursor or movement on the Apple TV screen occurs.
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your Apple TV may have become paired with another remote. Hold the remote close to and pointed at the Apple TV, hold down the menu and Rewind buttons together for 6 seconds or until you see a broken chain icon on screen. -
I just bought a Micro-DVI to video adapter to try and hook my MacBook Pro 13" that I bought in mid 2009 to my old TV (svideo), the adapter doesn't seem to fit any of the connections on my macBook pro, is right adapter?
Shootist007 wrote:
Apple doesn't offer a MDP to AV or componet connect . Only DVI and VGA. They also don't offer one to HDMI. You have to go aftermarket to get one to HDMI.
Quite right, but as the OP does not have component or composite connections not important.
To the OP, this does work, but is not the cheapest, and as it appears that Apple no longer sell an SVideo adaptor cable 3rd party it will have to be. -
The image came up on my screen saying that I need to connect my iPod to iTunes, but I have a passcode, so it won't allow me to. And I want to try and turn it off, but my touch screen doesn't seem to be working either, so I can't even turn it off since you need to "slide to power off." HELP! I'm leaving on Thursday morning for six and a half weeks, and I absolutely need my iPod with me. I was just at the Apple store today for problems I was having with ANOTHER product, and I don't really want to drive all the way out to where my nearest store is (which is not very near) if I can figure this out at home. My iPod was working totally fine earlier today and last night, so I don't know what happened! Please, please, PLEASE HELP!
Now it's allowing me to reboot (hold down power button and home button and restart), but every time it just comes up to the same thing: the connect to iTunes page. Which is not possible. And I refuse to restore my iPod. PLEASE HELP.

I'm travelling and trying to back up my new iPhone to iCloud. I have sufficient storage, am connected to wifi and it's plugged into a power source and yet it doesn't seem to work at all. I'm currently in India. Could that be the cause or can anyone suggest any reason why this wouldn't work?
"gets stuck" - are there any error messages?
If you get the error "Backup not successful" and you've tried deleting the last backup and trying to back up manually without luck, try the following test: Go to...
Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap your device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options. Turn off all apps from backup and then do a manual backup. If that doesn't work, then this post will not help. If the backup works, then go back to the app list and turn some on and try another backup. If successful, keep repeating these steps. If it fails at some point, then try to zero in on the one app that seems to make the backup fail. (I had this problem and found one app failing, probably due to a corrupt data file.)
This process will take time, but if a backup works with no app data being used but clearly fails with the original settings, then somewhere in the mix of apps is a "bad" one. -
I bought a new iMac today. I'm using migration assistant to move all my software, but the time just keeps getting longer. It says connect an Ethernet cable for faster data transfer. I did, but that doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?
m1doc,
Are you migrating from a Mac or a MS Window machine? Either way you probably should be in touch with AppleCare, you have 90 days of free AppleCare telephone support. They can usually help on issues like this. If you don't know the phone number please use http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 to help find the number in your country. -
