Pacman stops under upgrade !
Hi guys.
After an installation on my desktop at home, I got a funny problem. My network is working fine, but when I'm upgrading with pacman - it sometimes stop at 99% ? Then I have to stop the upgrade byu pressing CTRL+C , and then run the upgrade again - then pacman is starting on 99% and then finish the upgrade ???
What could corse that. On everything else the network works just fine ?????

I havent got a clue what I could be .....
It happened the same as I install openoffice: 98% and stopped. Than ctlc-c and run pacman again and it works.

It's getting ridiculous that every time i open iphoto that it insists in being upgraded and repaired. Anyone know how i can get rid of this without reinstalling it?

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I have been forced, by repeated interruptions to my work telling me that software had been downloaded, to upgrade Adobe Reader through two steps, first to 9.3.1 then to 9.3.2. This is a pure pain because I do not use Reader, having switched to Preview precisely because I was fed up with the constant "upgrades". In this case I was forced to use Reader by a customized document I was sent to review. The "upgrades", first to 9.3.1 then to 9.3.2, continually interrupted my work until I gave in a tried to install them. 9.3.2 crashed my Macbook twice refusing even to allow a soft restart or shutdown. Finally I was forced to navigate through the Adobe website to find and install the "upgrade". It cost me more than an hour, lost concentration to say nothing of the anger and frustration. Why are you wasting users time and sending out stuff that does not work (just look for this forum to see how much unnecessary grief this is causing people). Just STOP doing this: ONLY send small upgrades when security issues make it unavoidable. Otherwise offer upgrades and give good reasons why users should choose them. I don't care whether you publish this on your forum; I just want you to know that this kind of behavior convinces users to abandon your products as I did. WHY do you do it?

I ran pacman -Sy to upgrade the database - and as usual it worked perfectly. I then ran pacman -Su to upgrade (I do it once a week) and there is nothing. Pacman will not respond to any command. I made no changes.
To be sure, I edited /etc/pacman.conf to conform with the information in the howto for setting up the mirrors, and edited /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist to reflect the correct part of the world (USA). No change. No commands work any more except pacman -V.
Since I made no changes to the system, what could have happened? -- the rest of the system works perfectly. Can't even reinstall pacman from the database.[root@newnet ~]# pacman --debug -Sy

My mac book air e-mail is trying to upgrade but it has frozen. How can I stop the upgrade as I cannot open my e-mail?
This isn't the fault of firefox. Firefox is a web browser, not your email provider. I'd suggest contacting them (whoever you use, gmail, yahoo, etc.) and asking for help.

Pacman doesn't upgrade and update the system properly
It's been almost one and half months that my system is not getting upgrade or update, what all I go t is :

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
You will need to show patience with the procedure and be prepared to demonstrate without question that the account belongs to you. Don’t expect access to be restored immediately and if you aren’t the owner of the Apple ID registered to the device the account won’t be reset.

Can't get R&R or Power Manager to work under upgraded Win7 on X61
I recently upgraded my X61 from Win Vista Business to Win7 Pro. While doing so I installed the new and supposedly Windows 7 compatible versions of R&R and Power Manager. However, I can't seem to get either to work - I can't even start the applications. Both immediately crash and tell me that "Lenovo Application has stopped working" (R&R) and "Power Manager has stopped working." I do get the power gauge in the task bar, but I cannot click it (same error/crash).
I followed the instructions and have therefore updated all the applicable drivers etc, e.g. the new version of CSS for R&R and the Power Management Driver for Power Manager, but it still doesn't work. I've also tried reinstalling (both uninstall followed by install and repair/reinstall). Does anybody know what's going on? What could be wrong?

Go to Solution.I believe I've found the reason for the problem I had with both R&R and the Power Manager (also discussed here): I did not have .NET framework 3.5.1 SP 1 installed. It is obviously disabled by default on Win7, so one will have to enable it through Control Panel -> Uninstall a program -> Turn Windows features on or off (and then make sure to check the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 check box).
The strange thing is that I have not found the information that .NET framework is required anywhere - Lenovo obviously didn't think of supplying it. I just happened to find the solution when installing the upgrade for the Lenovo Toolbox, which could not be finished without first installing the framework (and the Toolbox installation program told me this was required).
So make sure you have the .NET framework enabled if you want to run a bunch of the ThinkVantage applications!

Today I tried to install a new package, and pacman prompted that there is new version of it, and I have to install it first. I accepted and installed the new version of pacman. They I updated the package list. After a while I had to reboot the machine, because my X crashed, and now pacman command is not doing anything. What can I do.

[SOLVED] Pacman refuses to upgrade due to missing key
Starting today, I get this error messge when trying to upgrade via pacman
error: key "7A4E76095D8A52E4" could not be looked up remotely
error: required key missing from keyring
error: failed to commit transaction (unexpected error)
Generating a fresh keyring (https://www.archlinux.org/news/gnupg-21 … n-keyring/) doesn't resolve the problem.
Anyone else getting an error similar to this?
Any ideas on resolving the issue?

this happens over and over and over again. it wants to upgrade 'file' i tried deleting the cache, that didn't seem to help. i didn't see anything bad in the log file either. any clues?with the help of judd i was able to fix this issue, it was an old file directory in the pacman directories.

How do I get it to stop trying to ugrade on reboot? the only way I can get into the old os is in safe mode, righ now i only want to get into the old os ... Any advise?Hello:

SIP stops when upgrading from ASA from 8.4.1 to 8.4(2)8 w/ out config change? Why?
I have to be missiong something small in my config.
If I upgrade my ASA 5510 which I am routing and NATing off of, from 8.4.1 to 8.4.2.8, SIP stops. All phones go dead.
If I roll bck to 8.4.1, SIP comes up.,... Go bck to 8.4(2)8 nd SIP goes down.....
This is without mking any config changes.
I have looked at it so long, I must be overlooking something simple, simple, simple...Have spent sIx hours in past 24 w/ Cisco TAC and they have a tin of caps as have I but can't figure out why there is a denial of SIP from inside outside and outside inside to/from sip providers three IP addresses. Have created new access lists, new access groups to allow all 3 ip's in & out, increased timeout, bypassed IPS, have both sip UDP & tcp allowed in/out, specified inspection to approve any any for all sip protocols in/out to/from Lync & mediation and nada.
To answer another question, yes I'm certain config doesn't change... I reloaded tge same running config from a bkup just to make sure.....
What I see in the logs coming in/out is the call does make it all the way through the SSM to the ASA..
What happens there is the head scratcher...
SiP even though allowed and even though I've specified it to push through inspection On ASA side is denied based on inspection rule...
I also tried using another one of my (unused) public IPs for only SIP thinking that maulybe there was a core conflict with multiple services NATd to the same public IP but that also did nothing.
On topology I only have a single location so I'm using my 5510 to route as well...
Have 1 IIS web server l, SQL, (ports clised except to obe vendor and am allowing via access list by their IP and ipsec,) Exchange, Lync, Ironport, Endpoint and everything else is 80/80...
Everything is on Server 08r2 w/ exception of web server and two boxes ( one stand-alone & one VM on hyper-v) I am running Server8 for Microsoft TAP engineering / validation airlift. Neither of those are attached to UC/UM at all...
I'm using dynect from dyndns for outside network web services and just piggybacking on time Warner metro e for internal (no physical DNS server)
When I look at caps everything is identical in the tcp and UDP trace even on sip except for the denial...
Which caps/logs would 'y'all like to see and I'll post em when I get home....
Is there a link to bug notes Jullio? Is it sip specific? Any possibility of it being just a name/cosmetic big I can force a work around to?
I recall when Asa first was released I had to specify port 25 allow instead of being able to simply say allow smtp .. That took 2 weeks but it allowed for a work around so whatever I can do/try I'm willing!! Someone may wanna tell TAC if it's a bug because after 6 hours yesterday they are saying there's not a bug... :)
