Падение скорости SLM2008

Здравствуйте, у меня 2 свитча SLM2008
Только на одном через несколько часов работы падает скорость, подключено 3 компьютера на скорости 1гбит и роутер на скорости 100мбит, скорость с 1гбита падает до 5мбит, при этом соединение показывает 1гбит. Помогает только перезагрузка свитча, потом снова через несколько часов такая же ситуация.
Прошивка Current Firmware Version: 2.0.0.10
Пробовал перепрошивать, сбрасывать на заводские установки, ничего не помогло.
Подскажите пожалуйста как исправить?

After looking at the iperf data, it sure indicates a problem with traffic between the two switches or maybe within a switch..
The exact cause of this traffic problem is undetermined at this stage, needs further analysis...
Do we enable flow control, what is the autonegotiated speed of the ethernet port, what do the port statistics look like. these are all questions that should be looked into.
It would have been be interesting to see a wireshark capture going to IP host at 192.168.1.2 at times when throughput is low. and a capture when throughput was good. These captures only need to be a few seconds in long.
Might I suggest that you contact your local Small Business Support Center who can assist in hopefully identifying your issue.

Question about SLM2008

I got three domain on the same network. Trying to set up a vlan to split all the computers to respective domain. This is my setup i got 5 static IPS. The respective IP runs to a wireless router which then runs to a server and to the SLM2008 router. Now my question is i got all the computers in my office running to one Port in the back of the SLM2008. I want 3 Vlans, one for each company. I have had the Packets tagged but it doesnt seem to work. Any help would be great. Thanks in Advance.

Sorry about that this is how it is set up I have a modem that supports multiple static IPS. The Modem is a Motorola 3347. The Modem Conects to three seperate routers all of them are Linksys WRV54G. The first Router connects to port two of the SLM2008 and also \ connects to a server. The second router connects to port three of the SLM2008 and to another server. The third router connects to port four and connects to yet another server. Port 5 is then connected to to the wall witch is then distributed to the other computers through out the office. Right now I the Vlans set up as the following. Vlan 1 ports are port 5 and port 2. Vlan 2 port 5 and port 3. Vlan 3 port 5 and port 4. On the computers i have downloaded the vlan drivers for my ethernet adapter and connected them to the repective vlans(mainly vlan1). But non of the computers can see the server on the repective vlan. This is a pretty complicated setup but any help would be appreciated.

SLM2008 to SG200-08 VLAN

Hi,
I have the following setup:
Service Provider connected to SLM2008 port 2
SLM2008 connected to SG300-20 using LAG2
SG300-20 connected to SG200-08 using LAG1
SG200-08 port 1 connected to PC
I have configured VLAN 4 to isolate this (port-to-port) traffic from the rest of the network, however I can't obtain an IP address from the SP.
SLM2008 : port 2 PVID 4 all frame types accepted, VLAN ID 4 assigned to port 2 and LAG 2 (consisting of port 5&6)
on the SG300-20, the Port VLAN Membership Table shows LAG1 & 2 with 1UP, 4T (so supposed to transport VLANs 1 & 4, 1 being the default)
SG200-08 shows Port VLAN Membership Table port 1 in access mode with PVID 4 and operational VLAN membership 4U. I can't put it to 4T except in generic mode, but this doesn't work either.
What am I missing here ?
Any input/feedback would be highly appreciated.

Thanks for your answer. You're right in concluding the VLAN 1 is my default VLAN. The problem is that the switch should contact my DHCP server over VLAN 1 and since the traffic on port 1 is not tagged, the traffic DHCP request will never reach my DHCP server. As a consequence, the switch always ends up with its factory default IP address (192.168.1.254) instead of the IP address assigned by the DHCP server. And yes, that's a problem
So to summarize, when I configure tagged access for VLAN 1 on port 1 and write this to the startup config, it is indeed present in the startup config afterwards. However, the switch ignores this upon reboot, causing VLAN 1 on port 1 to feature untagged access.
By the way, I completely set up the switch from scratch after restoring the config to factory defaults. It would be great if you could try to reproduce the issue and hopefully come with a fix. In case you need more information, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Re: No connection to SLM2008

I've just bought a Linksys SLM2008, new, boxed and shrink wrapped from somebody, and it is 'brain dead', just as you all have - have the green 'Power' LED only. The guy won't have it back as he says it was sold as new. I think the IOS is not booting for some reason, but the unit gets very hot if left on for and hour or so.
As I'm an electronics engineer, (Radio, TV and self-build computers in the 70's and 80's) and more recently, Technical Projects Engineer for Compuatacenter, I want to take it apart without damage to have a look at the internals. Anybody have instructions for this?
I notice Linksys wall plug power supplies fail - bulging capacitors on inspection. Cheaper to bin it and buy a 2A unit from Hong Kong for £8 all in. I used to install big Cisco Catalyst 6500 L3 switches, and we had a lot of PSU failures early on.
I'll let you know if I get Linksys to replace it first.

In my opinion, I believe the switch is indeed has some problems. This switch I think has a reset button. Try to press the reset button for 30 sec. then power cycle the unit. Connect a PC to one of the LAN ports. You should be getting a light in the port when the pc is connected. If not you should be able to replace the unit especially that you just bought the unit. If the store won’t accept it, I think you can replace it to Linksys directly or this case Cisco since they are now handling these devices. I suggest try contacting CISCO tech support and seek their opinion about it.

Firmware upgrade on an SLM2008

I have just attempted to load the latest firmware on an SLM2008, everything appeared to work as expected BUT, the switch is no longer pingable on its static IP doesn't appear to have attempted get an address via DHCP. I have attempted power cycling the switch but it has made no difference. The switch is still switching but I have no management any more.
Any advice on what to do next ?

Got hold of another SLM2008 and did a swap so I could do some fault finding.
Full factory reset on switch brought the management back to life on the default IP. The firmware upgrade had succeeded, the switch had just lost its IP settings somehow.
Switch has now been successfully redeployed.

Problem with SLM2008 throughput (updated)

My setup was ReadyNas NV+ - Netgear ProSafe 16 port Gigabit Switch (GS116) - Air Live Ovislink 8 port 100Mb switch (FSH8PS) - Popcorn A100 (no HDD).
In this setup every video from the Readynas played well on the popcorn, never a problem, 13GB mkv 150 minutes movie plays well.
Then the netgear just stops working after 3 years. So, what now? After reading some reviews, I buy the SLM2008.
From that moment only 300MB avi video on the Readynas plays (reasonably) well, mkv or DVD (ISO or VIDEO_TS folder) plays intermittently, no audio. The Avi plays well most of the time, but it takes 10 seconds before it starts.
UPDATE: when this happens the netork interface on the ReadyNas shows a massive number of TCP retransmits.
When I replace the SLM2008 with another Air Live Ovislink 8 port 100Mb switch (FSH8PS) everything works ok, just as the netgear did.
I had jumbo frames enabled, so I enabled them in the SLM2008, no change, still problems.
I enabled flow control (on the SLM2008), no difference.
I enabled QoS, no difference (I forgot which mode).
Is there a setting that I can change on the SLM2008 that will let me play video from the ReadyNas?
Please help :-).

I would try resetting to factory defaults and then disable auto negotiate for the ports and set the speeds manually to that of the devices. This is impossible for us to replicate in our labs given the equipment being used.
If you find this does not improve things, you might try different ports with the same configurations.
Perhaps use wireshark to capture what is going on and post the captures here as well as the configuration of the switch as well.

SLM2008 VLAN

Hi, VLAN newbie here!
I need to setup a VLAN using a SLM2008 and connect it to our Fortigate Internet Firewall. I'm doing this to segregate the SLM2008 traffic from the main network which is already connected to the firewall. I have created VLAN #200 in the SLM2008. I have read all the SLM2008 documentation and spent quite a lot of time on these forums but can't seem to get this working.
Questions:
1. The firewall is seen on the network as another multi-port hub, so does this mean that the SLM2008 must be connected to it via a VLAN trunk link?
2. On this forum someone said you must use Port 1 of the SLM2008 if you want to do trunking? True?
3. If #2 is correct, then how do you setup port 1 as a trunk? There is no trunk option in the web gui.

HDD в ноутбуке почему то работает на скорости SATA 1 вместо SATA 2

Здравствуйте. Решил поменять в ноутбуке жесткий диск на SSD. Ноутбук Lenovo G575 (версия 20081). Запустил программу HWiNFO32. Она показывает что жесткий диск в системе работает на скорости 1,5 Гбит/сек т.е. SATA1. Почему так? Захожу в раздел BUS -> PCI BUS -> SATA HOST CONTROLLER - Gen2 3Gbps. Т.е. контроллер поддерживает SATA2. Сам жесткий диск тоже поддерживает SATA2. Никаких переключающих перемычек на нем нет.
В БИОСе стоит SATA CONTROLLER MODE - AHCI. Обновил БИОС до последней версии (1.07). Не помогает.
Изначально с ноутбуком шла WIN7 Home 64 бит. Переустановил на 32 бит (не запускались нужные мне программы). Драйвера установил все что были на офф сайте.
Собственно что хочу: ноутбук не шустрый, поэтому даже на SATA2 SSD диск должен дать хороший прирост для серфинга в интернете. Но меня теперь мучает вопрос, а не заработает ли свежекупленый SSD на 1.5 Гбит/сек как и мой текущий диск? Почему так происходит? Может что то включить надо? Что касается проблемы...
Действительно, ноут должен иметь интерфейс sata II и даже поддерживать диски sata III (естественно, в режиме sata II), установленный диск - sata II, по факту видим, что он работает в режиме sata I.

Я думаю любой диск будет работать в таком режиме, sata I. Но, в конце концов, это можно проверить с другим диском, хотя бы на время.
Такой интерфейс - sata I - если где и присутствует в более-менее современных ноутах, то в отсеке для опт.диска (кстати, диск в каком отсеке?)
Если диск в штатном отсеке, то я бы предположил 2 возможные причины проблемы:
1. интерфейс принудительно установлен как sata I на уровне BIOS. Сложно сказать, что могло подвигнуть разработчиков ноута на такое. Версия BIOS, конечно, не новая, но сам ноут не такой уж и старый, к моменту его выхода на рынок вся компонентная база уже существовала. Теоретически, это можно выяснить, анализируя BIOS. Но лично я навыками дизассемблирования кода BIOS не обладаю.
2. Не установлены или некорректно установлены драйверы чипсета. Обычно они имеют несколько релизов после вывода на рынок. На странице загрузок для данного ноута нет таких драйверов. Наверняка на сайте AMD есть. Документация говорит, что ноут сделан на базе чипсета AMD M1.
Вообще, немного странно выглядит перечень поддерживаемых (точнее, неподдерживаемых) процессором инструкций, он очень скудный. Я бы для подтверждения версий проверил еще и "штатный" набор инструкций, согласно документации, для модели установленного в ноуте процессора и сравнил с имеющимся.

Has anyone trouble to get Linksys SLM2008 Managed and Linksys SD2008 Unmanaged to Work together? SD2008 LED Light is continously flashing at connected Port.

SLM2008 - Duplicate Administrator error

I've been using A SLM2008 in my home network for about a year, and so far I've had no problem with it at all. However, I can't log in to it. I think I've tried in the past, and when I couldn't, just left well enough alone.
I've recently tried again and the same thing happened and now I want to try to resolve this problem, before I do need the access to fix a problem or something.
I've tried to access the switch from three diferent pc's from various network location, including directly in one of the switch ports. No different results.
What's going on is:
When I try to access the switch using the default ip, I briefly see the linksys screen, then it quickly switches to the login page. I've never changed the login info, so I enter "admin" for both entries.
Then the page changes to one where the title of the page is:
Duplicate Administrator
The content of the page is:
Forbidden Access.
1. The device is currently being managed by another IP Address.
2. Your IP address is not allow to access this device.
3. The specified user name and/or password is incorrect.
I've tried to reset back to factory settings by holding the reset button in for 10 seconds, 30 seconds, and longer. But the results are the same, and I have no way of knowing if the settings were reset or not.

What do you reckon and I will defer to your advice and expertise, its a interesting scenario that Zane faces.
I guess when the SLM2008 was developed when older Internet explorers are used and tested with the SLM2008. (This product has been EOL and replaced by the new 200 series switch order p/n SLM2008T)
You reckon, the GUI would still work with maybe new versions of Internet explorer that Zane may be using ?
I would have thought that resetting to factory defaults may have done two things;
remove the configuration completely, including any IP addresses that Zane would have set. That doesn't seem to be the case. He still gets 'forbidden' coming up. (unless his web browser is cacheing too much)
He may have forgotten his login credentials, but the reset button for 30 seconds should have reset his management interface to ;
management IP=192.168.1.254 user=admin password=admin
Should he try an older version of IE or just call SBSC?

DHCP Passthrough on VLAN slm2008

Ok, so I have a Linksys SLM2008 off of a Cisco 3560. I use vlan 3 for PC's. The PC behind the Linksys will not pull a DHCP address even though the helper is defined in the VLAN of the 3560... Is this not possible with the SLM2008??

VLAN will not passthrough because the SLM2008 doesn't have trunking capability.

No connection to SLM2008

I have 2 SLM2008 that were configured a while back and left in a shelf to be used at a later time. Now that the time has come I am trying to connect them but any computer plugged on them is not recognized. (No lights on the switch). Plugging the computer on any other switch works.
A reset to factory default doesn't even seem to work to reset all the settings. I would like to do a firmware upgrade on the units to see if it works but not being able to connect to them doesn't help me.
Does anyone ever seen this problem ? or I have 2 defective units...

I have the same problem as describe here. My switch (slm2008) has worked smoothly during more than 8 month. Always up and running without power off. But suddunly this week he is no more working. I haven't done any configuration changes this long time....
I tried to power it off and on again but it is not working again. After that i tried a reset but not working better.
And the end i tried a factory reset but still not working.
Now i'm not being able to show the config web page anymore which must be now at address 192.168.1.254.
Please could you provide some advise to test if the switch is broken....
I tried the following to hit the config page but it doesn't worked:
Routeur config: network ip : 192.168.1.100
Mask given when static ip : 255.255.255.0
-connect the switch to the routeur, my pc to the routeur (with dhcp, enable on the routeur) and try to hit the config page. Doesn't work.
-connect the switch to the routeur, my pc to the routeur (with static ip) -> doesn't work. -connect the pc to the switch with static ip and gateway same has switch ip (192.168.1.254) -> doesn't work
-connect the pc to the switch with dhcp ip -> doesn't work.
Please could anyone provide the right connecting mode with ip for the devices ( pc and routeur etc) to hit the default config page to see if my switch is broken (192.168.1.254)

Failover using SLM2008 and 2 linux servers

I am wondering if LACP 802.3ad can work in this scenario where I have a single SLM2008 switch and 2 linux servers (not 2 nics in a single server)... is it possible to configure the switch to send packets to the alternate server if the primary one no longer responds?

lacp is a method to control the bundling of several physical ports together to form a single logical channel. it may act as failover when link fails between 2 devices but they should have multiple links. if there is only one link between the 2 devices then it will not act as failover. on your case, i believed that it is not possible. lacp works by sending frames down all the link that have protocol enabled. if lacp is enabled on both server, both server will receive the frames from the switch.

SLM2008 firmware upgrade 2.0.0.10

I have upgrade to 2.0.0.10 with the upgrade reported as successful. Since the upgrade I have not been able to access the web interface. I have cleared the browser cache, tried alternate browsers and different hosts as well as restarting and reset the switch.
A typical connection request lasts about 15/20 seconds with browser status reported "Done" and a blank page presented
Short of performing a factory reset are there any suggestions?
