You have three images describing how readers scan the text of
a page looking for relevant/interesting information,
The first picture is annotated with the full text of your
comments:-
Users rarely read every word on application screens. Instead,
they unconsciously use the screen’s visual hierarchy to
decide what to look at. For the Flex cookbook, most users likely
see the large main headings first, *** then scan the subheadings,
***and only then read the content that interests them. Note that
most of the page goes unread.
However, I've added asterisks (***) where the full comment is
further split to add comment to the second two images. Strictly
speaking you need to go back to teh annotation on the first image
and remove all the text after the first set of asterisks shown
above.

You seem to be using Text with htmlText property. Does that not display the HTML as expected? Remember, Flex supports a sub-set of HTML tags:

You could just have Next and Back buttons that populate the Text control from the next of previous item in an ArrayCollection, where the items in the ArrayCollection are objects with each page of text.

I recently upgraded to Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, and I am experiencing a problem
with OCR text recognition.
If I use "Create PDF from Scanner" or "Create PDF from file" (using a
monochrome TIFF image) to create a PDF, I can then perform OCR on the PDF
file in Acrobat.
But if I open a monochrome TIFF image in some other program (Irfanview) and
print that to the Adobe PDF printer, then open that PDF in Acrobat and try
to perform OCR on it, I get the following message:
"Acrobat could not perform recognition (OCR) on this page because: This page
has graphics other than images or text on it. It cannot be captured."
If I select the scanned image in the PDF file using the TouchUp Object tool,
and then cut it to the clipboard, I am then able to then select a second
blank object on the page, that has the same dimensions as the scan (it is
full page size). If I delete that object, then paste the first one back in
(the scanned image), then OCR will work. So what is this additional object
that is preventing OCR? I did not have this issue with versions 4-8 of
Acrobat.
Also, this problem appears to only pertain to 1-bit monochrome images. I
scanned the same page to 8-bit grayscale, then printed that to Adobe PDF
from Irfanview, and that PDF file allows OCR to be performed. Does anyone
else have a problem using OCR when the PDF was created by printing a
monochrome raster image to PDF?

Not sure this will work for indesign, but for any other searches about the OCR problem with "This page has graphics other than images or text on it", I used this workaround for a huge scanned text that Acrobat 9 Pro wouldn't OCR:
1. Save As.... > TIFF image
This saved each page as a tiff, so if your file is big, you might want to create a special folder for it. (I had 1100 pages!)
2. Open the folder with the TIFF images.
3. Select all files.
4. Right-click > Open with.... > Choose.... > Other.... > Acrobat
5. Popup will ask if you want to open all files in a single document. Obviously a good choice for 1100 pages.
6. After the new PDF generates, save it.
7. Document > OCR --- should work now.
8. If it does, don't forget to delete the folders with the TIFFs.

Are you sure you have the right printer?
In UNIX/OSX printers are virtual links to devices and even with the same name can be trying to reach a printer via another network address, so it thinks it is another printer.

Envy 4500 won't scan text to produce a searchable PDF file

I used to have a Photosmart 4400 C printer that would let me scan to produce searchable PDF files, i.e. I could select letters or words using a text selection tool in my PDF reader. Today I Just purchased a ENVY 4500 e- All-in-One-Series. It will only scan text to give me a graphic PDF file that is not searchable. I updated to the latest driver EN4500_198.exe but that doesn't help. Does anyone have a solution?

Hi, No, the Envy 4500 does not have any OCR software by default, you have to pay for that software and believe this or not, the software is more expensive than the printer itself. By default when you convert a document, the OCR (optical character recognition) engine is enabled. This is the function that makes scanned text editable.

Close the mail app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.

I'd like to be able to add HTML/Jquery interactivity to my articles without having to break the flow of DPS's normal pages-within-articles navigation. Is there any accomodation for putting multiple html pages into a single article so that you can swipe up-down and get page snapping between them?

I did read the help and went through the tutorial - the butterfly text wrap (and the wrap around the curved contour of the bicycle wheel at the Apple store) is the reason I am asking this question. I don't know how to use one of my own pictures and tell Pages what contour to wrap around. Is there some additional image editing software that I need to "creatively crop" one of my own pictures, so that Pages will be able to wrap around that contour?

If you want to edit the text DON'T scan to PDF, terrible idea.
Scan to Word, make the edits, convert to PDF.

After perusing the SDK classes, I realize that all arguments from the superclass should go first in constructor arguments.
Also, although we are listening in capture phase, both the bubble and capture phase have the problem of requiring unique event names. This is why the application frameworks recommend singletons like model singletons so you can listen directly to them instead of basically broadcasting to everyone (bubbling) or listening to everyone (capture).
That would be a bit more complex, and I am trying to keep this simple, but another good point to keep in mind.
