Page/browser background issue

You still can't beat iWeb for ease of use, though it does have its limitations, for instance: I want to have my page background and browser background be the same color. No problem, except I am still left with a thin outline of the page background (set to 1024 x 768 px) when setting the page background to None. Any idea of how to get rid of that outline so that one sees a continous background where the page size is implied but not actually seen? Does anyone have a suggestion for an iWeb replacement if this is not doable?

  • CS6 Encore Multi-Page Button & Background Issues

    I'm building a blu-ray project for a client using a multi-page motion menu.
The menu has a minute long video clip with audio looping behind it, and has four button options; Play movie, Languages, Bonus Material, and Scene Selection.
The Language, Bonus, and Scenes buttons each use a seperate page with highlighted text as buttons for aditional content. Each of these pages also has a light, brown background image which I've turned into a button as a workaround for them to be visible along with the buttons. No matter what I do, only the first page works properly.
I've tried turning each of the pages seperately into Page 1, (#1) Page 1, to make sure I have my settings correct, and they all work fine as long as they're the first page. However, every other page after page one, (#2), (#3), etc,  turns the buttons into a highlighted block unless I remove the brown backgrounds. Is there another work around this? Is this a limitation of blu-ray; to only allow one page to work with a background image at a time, or is this a limitation of Encore?

The thing the client is doing is using separate backgrounds for each option, which are spread out across the screen.
I took a look at the Dark Knight Rises, the Indiana Jones blu-ray set, and those discs kinda show what this client is aiming for; a main menu with play movie, languages, bonus material, and scene options with individual sub menus with separate backgrounds for each option.
If you happen to have those disc available, give them a look. Is Encore capable of creating blu-ray menus that work similar to those?
I've been researching this multi-page thing for a week now, and there just isn't a lot of info out there past creating one page. It seems I can create as many pages as I want without a background and it works fine. It's when I add a background to each page is when things start to become problematic. Buttons that were once color highlighted text become ugly solid color blocks.

  • Browser background showing at bottom of page

    Hi all,
all the pages on my site (still under construction) measure 700pxW x 480pxW. The browser background is a different colour to the content, but on all pages except the home page the content goes from top to bottom, which is how I want it.
On the home page, the background is showing at the bottom of the page when the content should be going, like the other pages, from top to bottom.
    Any ideas?

We can tell more about the problem if we can visit the site to examine it first hand. Otherwise, a guess would be to put an empty text box on the page and drag it down far enough so the footer is lowered to the point where the page content is below the lower edge of the screen. Or increase the page height in the Inspector/Page/Layout pane beyond the 480 size. Maybe more like 800.

  • Drop Shadow of Page on Browser background

I see how I can change the color of the browser background, but is it possible to have a drop shadow effect where the page ends and the browser background begins?
    Thanks, Leslie

lnicole - This can be done with a trick.
You know how to make the page background match the browser background. To give the Page a shadowed look, you need to enlarge your page a little more than the shadow you want. Next, you must place a rectangular graphic the size of your original page on top of the Page and in the background of everything you have on the page (i.e. send it to the back). Make this large graphic the same color as your Page and Browser, and then give it the shadow you want.
The result on the published page in your browser is a shadowed background, seemingly for the entire page.
I hope I’ve explained this clearly enough. -Fabe

  • Browser background colour and page background colour

On one entry page of my blog, the browser background colour is over-riding the page background gradient colours. I've tried remaking the entry page by duplicating another entry page, but this still happens on just this one page.
Hoping someone will be able to work out why...?

    Thank you. It's http://www.noteworthy-women.co.uk/
The page in question is the 29 September entry for the blog page ('rehearsal notes'). This was on the 'Choir Members Only' site, but I've moved it to the 'public pages' site for this discussion. I can leave it there only overnight (British time).
    Thanks again.

  • Left justify pages within browser background

How can I left justify my web pages within the browser background? All the iWeb templates that I have seen are center justified, and I cannot find a way to change the justification.

There is no tool in iWeb that will do it at the click of a button.
If you lasso all of your elements you can move them to the left hand side of the page. Either by dragging or by using the cursor keys, (holding the shift key makes each cursor key press 10 pixels instead of one).
Then you can left justify the text in each element by using, Inspector>Text Tab>Text - Color & Alignment.

  • 2 out of 6 pages not loading browser background image

Does anyone know why out of 6 pages on my website, only 2 of them are not loading the choosen browser background image? All other pages load them in when uploaded to the site online. They appear to be correct in iWeb before publishing.
Once they are published, it is just white. If I select a color instead of the image, the color displays. Thoughts?

  • Browser Background Color

I am new to iWeb and have searched the archives, but can't seem to figure this one out. I am using one of the themes to do a quick webpage, but have stumbled on an issue. When I use a browser background color, it bleeds over the page. I have tried to increase the page content, but to no avail. I know it has to be something fairly obvious that I am not doing.
    Here's the url.
    http://web.mac.com/clashbridge/BurgenundBerge/Days1_%262.html
The site is not ready for primetime yet, but any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Carole

You changed the page background from a tiled image to a gradient color.
Change it back to its previous state.
If you forgot what it was, add a new page with the same theme and check.

  • Browser background not showing up

I FINALLY got my website (www.unyquefiretrucks.com) to load but now the browser background does not appear!!! It showed up ok when I had published to MobileMe originally.
The homepage has a diamond plate (aluminum) browser background and crosspieces on the homepage itself to divide the sections (you can see the outline of the cross pieces but they don't show up) while the rest of the pages use a background with the maltese cross (fire dept. emblem) as the broswer background (no page background used). On my 9/11 memorial pages, I used a design as the page background with a color as the browser background & that appears fine. With that in mind I am confused as to why the homepage is not showing up properly...I used a web safe color for the page background & the diamond plate (tile) for the browser background. I should mention that the homepage is 875 px wide while the rest of the pages are 980 px wide...don't think this should be an issue because it appeared ok on MobileMe but who knows...that's why I'm on these forums!!
HELP!!!! I finally got this thing to load properly so I need to get this last little tweak taken care of. If you want/need to see what the site looks like normally, the unoptimized version is still accessible at
    http://web.me.com/firescueguy/UNYQUEFIRETRUCKS/uNYquefiretrucks_home.html
Should I just add the maltese cross as the page background with a web safe color for the browser background on the bulk of my pages? Still not quite sure how that will affect the homepage with the diamond plate not showing up. BTW, eliminating the diamond plate on the homepage is NOT an option, that makes the entire page IMHO.
Thanks in advance for the help, these forums have been a good source of info for me. Thanks, Tom

Old Toad, thanks for the reply...FYI, I used an optimization program called HTML Optimizer Plus that FTP's my site to the server (actually much quicker than CyberDuck IMO). While I have a 1-to-1 set up for tomorrow, I would like to pick your brain as you seem to be pretty knowledgeable judging by your numerous posts. Exactly how would I load those background .gif files? They are currently in a folder on my desktop with various backgrounds. Oddly enough, the background for the 9/11 pages loaded with no problem.
Thanks for the tip on the activity window (I did not know about that tool), that definitely gave more insight into what I was missing. I will give some thought to remove the border (will probably try it on a page or two to see how it looks first before changing the whole site).
One last thing...I had named my homepage index.html (that file still exists on the server) but the optimizer program generated the file index.html.html - if I deleted this file, would the server presumably recognize the standard index.html file?
Look forward to hearing your input. Thanks again for your help, Tom

  • Browser compatibility issues with different versions of IE

I'm looking for an online resource or book on identifying/troubleshooting JSP browser compatiblility issues focusing on recent versions of IE (5.0 - 6.0).
    Any sugguestions?

A JSP runs on a server. It is actually a servlet that merely outputs HTML (usually) to the browser. Your browser does not (really) know the difference between a JSP and a static HTML page and PERL cgi generated page. There is no interaction what-so-ever between the JSP portion and your browser. There will not be any books about compatibility issues between JSP and browsers since its a non-issue.
The previous reply suggesting JavaScript conflicts is entirely true. If you want a flipping nightmare job, write javascript that is compatible on NN 3.0 and above and IE 4.0 and above. It's a godd**ned mess.

  • Browser Background Color Not Drawing Completely

On the web page I recently uploaded, the page does not draw the browser background color completely when it loads. The browser background color fills in to the bottom of the sized page, below there it is white.
    1. Modern Frame 2.0 - Blank
    2. Set Browser Background color to Blue
    3. Page background color either the same Blue or none at all. I've tested both ways.
    4. Manual resize always allows the browser background color to fill in properly.
    5. Footer on and off. Doesn't make a difference.
After uploading to the web, clearing all my caches, it continues to fill in incompletely.
What do you suggest I do to solve this?
    Thank you - Fabe

Give us the URL for the site so we can examine it first hand. With out looking at the site you should change the theme to White theme which does not use files for background and therefore will not restrict the amount of space the background takes up. That's just a guess though.

  • PDF printing of web-pages WITH background?

How do I make it possible to have the background image/pattern/colour etc. of a web-page included when I "print" to PDF?
Whenever I print a web page with something in the background other than white it's missing in the PDF file. This happens in my daily-use browser (Seamonkey), but also in Safari. However, in iCab (http://www.icab.de/) the background is included in the PDF file, so at least it's possible in MacOS. I just can't find any settings for it.

    Yes, this worked! Thanks!
Another neat trick I found is that you can save the different settings. Just go to the "presets" part of the print menu, then save the current setting. For example by naming it "PDF printing with background".
Then turn off the background colour/image/pattern and save it as a new preset (e.g. "Print (to paper)").
That way you don't need to waste lots of ink, but at the same time you'll get the complete web-page with background and all when you save it as a PDF file. Just remember to select the right preset before you "print".

    Guys,
I have Unity conneciton 9.x,   The embed Java greeting player is not working..
I suspect one of these reason :
Java version ( too rescent )

    Browser version issue
... I have try many thing,  lower security, try 3 different browser, but nothing.. .I can't see the player.
Anyone can suggest me something ?
    thanks

Is there any error message? Or the Media Master is not seen at all? And complete Unity Connection version? Output of 'show version active'.
There are a few defects with Java 7 and CUC 9,
CSCum81926 - Media Master not working properly on Internet Explorer with java 7
CSCug57088 - Cisco PCA Greetings Page Java Errors with JRE 7
CSCuo44795 - Media Master Java Error: Missing Required Permission manifest attribute

CSCuo94694 - Media Master jar signing Certificate expiry issue
CSCue74920 -  Media Master Playback& Recording and Help not working with win 7/java 7
    Also try this,
Go to Control Panel > Java > Advanced Tab > Disable Verification
There is a patch released by the developers for most of the defects. Either upgrade the server to a fixed version or open a TAC case to get the patch. The patch may not solve your issue and this could be a new issue as well. Happens all the time when Java releases new versions.

  • Slow-loading browser background

Good morning. I am attempting to create a website based on a booklet I published 25 years ago. The scanned pages of the actual booklet are my page background. Each page has an original photograph constituting the browser background.
When viewing the site with Safari, Firefox, or Camino, the scanned pages load almost instantaneously, but the browser backgrounds, which I have reduced to 72 dpi using PhotoStudio, take between 5 and maybe 15 seconds to load. Is this normal? Is there a way to shorten the loading time?
    The address is http://web.mac.com/henrysummers/APinchofHistory,aDashofLegend.

I use ImageWell to reduce image size as it gives you a visual indication of the reduction in download time as you move the slider. It saves a lot of time in getting the compromise between quality and speed.

  • Change Browser Background Color with Image Fill

I inserted a picture using 'Image Fill' and 'Original Size' under Browser Background in the Page Layout tab and the browser background, I assume, defaults to white.
I need the browser background to be a standard black color with an Image Fill. I searched around the iWeb preferences and tabs but found no option...
    Many thanks in advance!
    Alex

The only way to get a black browser background is to set it to black. If you tile the photo there will be not browser background or make the image large enough so that it would take a very large browser window to exceed the photo's size. Or create a very large canvas with the photo in it at its original size and the rest of the area black.
