Page created with iWeb won't print in its entirety.

I created pages in iWeb but when I go to my browser and try and print the pages, only part of the page prints. The whole page is shown, but only part prints. Furthermore, there are several blank pages that print, but not all the content. Is there a limit on how much text/content to put on each page?

Paper size is Letter (not surprising there!) But I am not clear why paper size should matter. That is what multiple pages are for. If something won't fit on one page, should it not print on page 2, 3, and so on? I'm not sure what you mean by "changing the scaling in the print setup". When I go to Preferences (I'm on a Mac) and select Printer Setup, I only have a few choices, like printer, paper, and scale. Scale is a percentage, like 100%.
All this said, users should not be expected to make any such changes to print off a page I create for them. I am looking for changes I need to make at my end to make it work for users without extra effort at their end.
It sounds like a limitation of iWeb. I am not an HTML developer, so I am looking for an "easy way out" in developing a web page. Maybe I just have to confine my content to about a printed page's worth.

  • How to recover a page created with iweb

I have created a personal website with iweb on my laptop. The hard drive of my macbook died and i lost all datas. My webpage is published on the net but i do not know how to access it, modify it or even delete it! help please :-)

The file you need to have from your old hard drive  is titled Domain.sites and would have been kept in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder on that hard drive.
If you have a backup of that file somewhere get it and put it in the Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder on the new hard drive, replacing the domain file that's there, and open with iWeb.  That will get your website back in iWeb.
If you do not have a backup of that file you will have to rebuild your website from scratch because iWeb can't import or read published html files.  It can only create them.
If you have to rebuild from scratch Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the recreation of the new site.

  • Web page create with Keynote won't display

I have exported my Keynote file as a web page, uploaded to a server but when go to the web site, I get the message "slide couldn't be displayed."  I am using Keynote 5.1. Any suggestions as to how to fix this?

I am having the exact same issue. It all works spledidly locally, but the minute I upload to my web host I encounter the same message.
Did you ever manage to figure this out?
BTW. I only use Safari, so the browser is not the issue.
    Thanks.

  • How many website can I create with iWeb?

How many different webpages can I create with iWeb? I just created a site to show friends a slide show from a recent trip, but I need to create another webpage that will have video on it. It would be a totally different subject matter. I do have a .MAC account and not sure if I need to do anything with that so I can have more webpages.
I guess what I am saying is that I am going to need different URL's for the webpages I am going to need to create and want to know how many you can have or create using iWeb.

You can have multiple websites, each with multiple pages depending on the need. To make managing multiple sites easier, take a look at iWebSites. The limiting factor, as was pointed out, is the available space on your iDisk. I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.

  • How I do to open a website created with iWeb in other computer

    Hi,
My web site was created with iWeb last year in other computer, a dead MacBook. I have a copy of my web files created with iWeb, and moved to my new computer, iMac.
Now I want to edit my web using iWeb, but I can´t find the way to open the files to modify and actualize my web, etc...
Does anyone know how to do this? can iWeb open and edit a web site created by itself?
    Help will be appreciated,

Felix ~ No, only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
“Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but *there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb*. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.”
If you don't have a backup of your Domain file (e.g. via Time Machine), paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

  • Website created with iWeb looks different in IE and Firefox than Safari-why

So I spent a few hours working on my Home and About Us page. Then, while browsing this forum, I started seeing posts about how sites done with iWeb might not look good in IE and/or Firefox. I decided to test out my work. I zipped up my site files and emailed them to myself. I went to my Dell desktop and downloaded the files to that computer. I opened up the home page in Firefox first. The site seemed to look ok, and both the home and about us page links showed up and were functional (i.e. I was able to browse back and forth between the two pages). However, I had some bullet points on the about us page that had a green border around them. This rendered fine in Safari on my Mac, but in Firefox, the bottom line of the box was not connected! Why?
After viewing in IE, I was depressed. The site didn't look at all like it should have. Not only that, but I couldn't navigate between the pages, since the links for home and about us were not at the top. What can I do to make sure that a site I create with iWeb looks good in Safari, IE, and Mozilla Firefox?

  • Opening old website pages(made with iweb) in iweb?

I created a website and I am having problems opening the website i created with Iweb because I guess it believes the site is deleted, is there anyway to open the files again and drag them back into iweb, thank you for your replies
    ~Andrew~

    Andrew,
    Welcome to the discussions!
Did you successfully publish your site? (Can you view it from a web browser?)
Look in this path on your hard drive and find your Domain file. Double-click on this file to make sure that your site is not there. Assuming that it isn't, how did you conclude your work in iWeb after building the site? You would've been prompted to Save/Publish your work when closing the iWeb window.
Published pages cannot be imported into the application; the only access to work created in iWeb is through the Domain File.
After double-clicking on the Domain, if your site does not come up, I'd be interested in knowing how you can visit the site without it having been saved in the Domain file.

My website created with Iweb and hosted on mobileMe is not uploading well on all computers. What could be the problem ?

I got a chance to look at it on a PC.  Totally hosed up. It loads incorrectly then parts of it go blank.
I have a site that is based very much on one of the built-in templates and it works fine on the same PC.  It contains only text boxes, image placeholders, and images with "picture frame" borders.  Nothing fancy, no overlays, no extra code or anything. I haven't looked much at the other templates so I don't know if yours is mostly a template or how much you may have modified one or what tricks you may have done to get the look you wanted.  Whatever it is, IE does not like it.  Unfortunately, you can't really ignore them as was suggested; they make up a large part of your audience.

  • How do I delete sites created with iWeb and posted with .mac after a format

I am confused about how to delete a couple of sites that I created with iWeb and posted with my .mac after I did a format reload?
I have tried everything. The original files are not on my MacBook Pro because of the format.
I also see them in my idisc, but I is my understanding that on my MacBook Pro that I can delete the files, but they are hosted online. On the online idisk I cannot delete them because there is no option. Please help!!!

Using the file menu in Finder:
    Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/YourSitesAreHere
Highlight selected files and Command/Delete. You will receive a drop down asking you if you are sure; click OK and the files/sites will be deleted immediately from the iDisk.

  • Why does my web page, created on iWeb, look correct on Safari but has thick black lines all over it in Firefox?

Why does my web page, created on iWeb, look correct on Safari but has thick black lines all over it in Firefox?

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?  I assume those black lines are around photos or objects that have had a frame or drop shadow added to it, right?  If so that's a known issue.
There's a workaround for that in this tutorial: #7 - Converting Photos w/Frames, Drop Shadows and/or Reflections into a Single Image File.  That should get rid of those black lines/boxes.

  • Editing a site created with Iweb - with another program

    Hello,
I built a website for a friend and he wants to be able to make small changes on it from time to time and I downloaded a WYSIWYG editor and none of them are compatible with sites created with Iweb...
Does anyone have any suggestions? He runs a windows machine.
    Thank you so much!!!

Well, not really. A lot of people have their sites built for them and then, with a little guidance, can change out photos, or do a little editing here and there. So your idea certainly has merit.
The problem is, iWeb is a unique html generator. It stores everything you create in the application in a single file, (Domain.sites2), and only the application itself can open this file for editing. iWeb doesn't even create the html until you publish the site, either to a folder or to an Apple server. iWeb also changes many things into .png files--including text--believe it or not, in a well intentioned effort to cross platform better with other browser applications. So even simple text editors, which would normally be fine for changing small things in most websites, will struggle.
Your idea was a good one; it is iWeb that isn't a good candidate for it.
You must therefore now convince this person to become an Apnewbie, and buy a Mac!

  • Would like to re-create the webpages created with iWeb to iCloud and post

Would like to re-create the webpages created with iWeb to iCloud and post to the internet

Unfortunately, iCloud does not support the hosting of webpages. You will need to find a 3rd party web host in order to publish your web sites.
Depending on the version of iWeb you are using you have a couple of publishing options:
iWeb '09 (3.0.4) you can publish to an FTP Server or a local folder. ( With the built in FTP in iWeb you will end up with an address like "www.YourDomain.com/sitename/Home.html )
iWeb '08 you can publish your website to a local folder. Then upload to your host with an FTP application like CyberDuck
I have been using IX Webhosting for several years with little to no problems "usually the problem was something I did" and they have been quick to solve any issue I have come across. The have plans that start at $3.95 a mo (USD) and their customer service is top notch.
